The new vector resonance $X_1(2900)$ observed recently by LHCb in the $ D^{-}K^{+}$ invariant mass distribution in the decay $B^{+} \to D^{+}D^{-}K^{+}$ is studied to uncover internal structure of this state, and calculate its physical parameters. In the present paper, the resonance $ X_1(2900)$ is modeled as an exotic vector state, $ J^P=1^- $, built of the light diquark $u^{T}Cγ_5d$ and heavy antidiquark $\overline{c} γ_μγ_5C\overline{s}^{T}$. The mass and current coupling of $ X_1(2900)$ are computed using the QCD two-point sum rule approach by taking into account various vacuum condensates up to dimension $10$. The width of the resonance $X_1(2900)$ is saturated by two decay channels $X_1 \to D^{-}K^{+}$ and $X_1 \to \overline{D}^{0}K^{0}$. The strong couplings $g_1$ and $g_2$ corresponding to the vertices $X_1D^{-}K^{+}$ and $X_1\overline{D} ^{0}K^{0}$ are evaluated in the context of the QCD light-cone sum rule method and technical tools of the soft-meson approximation. Results for the mass of the resonance $X_1(2900)$ $m=(2890~\pm 122)~\mathrm{MeV}$, and for its full width $Γ_{\mathrm{full}}=(93\pm 13)~\mathrm{MeV}$ are smaller than their experimental values reported by the LHCb collaboration. Nevertheless, by taking into account theoretical and experimental errors of investigations, interpretation of the state $X_1(2900)$ as the vector tetraquark does not contradict to the LHCb data. We also point out that analysis of the invariant mass distribution $D^{+}K^{+}$ in the same decay $ B^{+} \to D^{+}D^{-}K^{+}$ may reveal doubly charged four-quark structures $ [uc][\overline{s}\overline{d}]$.
We study features of the resonances $X(2100)$ and $X(2239)$ by treating them as the axial-vector and vector tetraquarks with the quark content $ss \overline{s}\overline{s}$, respectively. The spectroscopic parameters of these exotic mesons are calculated in the framework of the QCD two-point sum rule method. Obtained prediction for the mass $m=(2067 \pm 84)~\mathrm{MeV}$ of the axial-vector state is in excellent agreement with the mass of the structure $X(2100)$ recently observed by the BESIII Collaboration in the decay $J/ψ\to ϕηη^{\prime}$ as the resonance in the $ϕη^{\prime}$ mass spectrum.…
We argue that the X(4260) enhancement contains a wealth of information on vector c-cbar spectroscopy. We discuss the shape of the X(4260) observed in the OZI-forbidden process "electron-positron into J/psi and a pair of charged pions", in particular at and near vector charmonium resonances as well as open-charm threshold enhancements. The resulting very broad X(4260) structure does not seem to classify itself as a vector charmonium resonance, but its detailed shape allows to identify new vector c-cbar states. Here, we estimate the resonance parameters of the psi(3D) state.
We study a model of scalars which includes both the SM Higgs and a scalar singlet as composites of heavy vector-like fermions. The vector-like fermions are bounded by the super-strong four-fermion interactions. The scalar singlet decays to SM vector bosons through loop of heavy vector-like fermions. We show that the surprisingly large production cross section of di-photon events at 750 GeV resonance and the odd decay properties can all be explained. This model serves as a good model for both SM Higgs and a scalar resonance at 750 GeV.
We discuss the shape of threshold signals in production cross sections of the reaction e+ + e- --> D* + antiD*, at the opening of the D(s)* antiD(s)* and Lambda(c)+ Lambda(c)- channels. Furthermore, evidence for the 3D, 5S, 4D, 6S, 5D, 7S, 6D, and 8S charmonium vector resonances is presented, on the basis of data recently published by the BaBar Collaboration. Central masses and resonance widths are estimated. Confirmation of these resonances would be a huge step in lifting the precision level of hadron spectroscopy towards that of atomic spectroscopy, with far-reaching consequences for theory.
We evaluate the radiative decay into a vector a pseudoscalar and a photon of several resonances dynamically generated from the vector vector interaction. The process proceeds via the decay of one of the vector components into a pseudoscalar and a photon, which have an invariant mass distribution very different from phase space as a consequence of the two vector structure of the resonances. Experimental work along these lines should provide useful information on the nature of these resonances.
Several extensions of the Standard Model predict the existence of new neutral spin-1 resonances associated to the electroweak symmetry breaking sector. Using the data from ATLAS (with integrated luminosity of L=1.02 fb^{-1}) and CMS (with integrated luminosity of L=1.55 fb^{-1}) on the production of W+W- pairs through the process pp -> l^+ l^{\prime -} \sla{E}_T, we place model independent bounds on these new vector resonances masses, couplings and widths. Our analyses show that the present data excludes new neutral vector resonances with masses up to 1-2.3 TeV depending on their couplings and…
We present evidence for the psi(5S) and psi(4D) c-cbar vector resonances in experimental data published by the Belle and BaBar Collaborations. Central masses and resonance widths are estimated.
The $ρρ$ interaction and the corresponding dynamically generated bound states are revisited. We demonstrate that an improved unitarization method is necessary to study the pole structures of amplitudes outside the near-threshold region. In this work, we extend the study of the covariant $ρρ$ scattering in a unitarized chiral theory to the $S$-wave interactions for the whole vector-meson nonet. We demonstrate that there are unphysical left-hand cuts in the on-shell factorization approach of the Bethe-Salpeter equation. This is in conflict with the correct analytic behavior and makes the so-obta…
The COMPASS experiment at CERN delivers new results on the search for exotic mesons. A spin-exotic resonance, the $π_1(1600)$, was reported by several experiments in the past. Those observations are, however, still to date highly disputed in the community. Especially the $ρπ$ decay channel allows for simultaneous observation of well established and less known resonances in different decay modes. The results from amplitude analysis of diffractively produced $(3π)^{-}$ final states show consistently a spin-exotic signal, that appears in agreement with previous observations of the $π_1(1600)$. Th…
In this work we review an effective description of the interaction of a gauge field with a tower of massive vector fields by introducing a non-diagonal mass matrix in a gauge invariant way. Particular cases of the method with only one vector resonance have been used by the author elsewhere, nevertheless in this paper the method is developed in a general way and and we proof its main features for an arbitrary number of vector resonances. Additionally, we show how to couple the vector resonances with fermions. We find that the method can be useful in order to describe the low energy phenomenolog…
The spectroscopic parameters and partial widths of the strong decay channels of the vector meson $Y(4660)$ are calculated by treating it as a bound state of a diquark and antidiquark. The mass and coupling of the $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ tetraquark $Y(4660) $ are evaluated in the context of the two-point sum rule method by taking into account the quark, gluon and mixed condensates up to dimension 10. The widths of the $Y(4660)$ resonance's strong $S$-wave decays to $J/ψf_{0}(980)$ and $ψ(2S) f_{0}(980)$ as well as to $ J/ψf_{0}(500)$ and $ψ(2S) f_{0}(500)$ final states are computed. To this end, strong…
The model independent bounds on new neutral vector resonances masses, couplings and widths presented at arxiv:1112.0316 are updated with an integrated luminosity of L=4.7 fb^-1 from ATLAS and L=4.6 fb^-1 from CMS. These exclusion limits correspond to the most stringent existing bounds on the production of new neutral spin-1 resonances that decay to electroweak gauge boson pairs and that are associated to the electroweak symmetry breaking sector in several extensions of the Standard Model.
We use the Vector formulation to evaluate vector and axial-vector exchange contributions to the O(p^4) weak Chiral Lagrangian. We recover in this framework the bulk of the contributions found previously by Ecker et al. in the antisymmetric formulation of vectors and axial-vectors, but new interesting features arise: i) most of our results are independent of Factorization and ii) novel contributions to non-leptonic kaon decays, proper of this formulation and phenomenologically interesting, are found. The phenomenological implications for K -> pi pi (pi) and radiative (anomalous and non-anomalou…
In this paper, we study the recent 750 GeV diphoton excess in the Hill Model with vector-like fermions, in which the singlet-like Higgs boson is chosen as 750 GeV resonance and is mainly produced by the gluon fusion through vector-like top and bottom quarks. Meanwhile its diphoton decay rate is greatly enhanced by the vector-like lepton. Under the current experimental and theoretical constraints, we present the viable parameter space that fits the 750 GeV diphoton signal strength at 13 TeV LHC. We find that the heavier vector-like fermion masses are, the smaller mixing angle $θ$ is required. T…
We present a first estimate of the reach of future pp colliders, the 14 TeV LHC and a futuristic 100 TeV pp collider, on a vector resonance, specifically a $W^{'}$, produced via weak-boson-fusion, and decaying dominantly into $tb$. The analysis is motivated by Composite Higgs, Randall-Sundrum and Little Higgs scenarios, which predict the existence of vector resonances with a large coupling to $W$ and $Z$ longitudinal bosons. In particular, in composite Higgs models with partial compositeness, the standard Drell-Yan production channel is suppressed at large coupling while the weak-boson-fusion …
In Higgsless models, new vector resonances appear to restore the unitarity of the W_L W_L scattering amplitude without the Higgs boson. In the ideal delocalized three site Higgsless model, one of large prodcution cross section of the neutral vector resonance (Z') at the Large Hadron Collider is the W-associated production, pp \to Z'W \to WWW. Although the dileptonic decay channnel, lνl'ν'jj, is experimentally clean to search for the Z' signals, it is difficult to reconstruct the Z' invariant mass due to the two neutrinos in the final state. We study collider signatures of Z' using the M_{T2}-A…
We perform an exploratory lattice QCD simulation of $D \bar D$ scattering, aimed at determining the masses as well as the decay widths of charmonium resonances above open charm threshold. Neglecting coupling to other channels, the resulting phase shift for $D \bar D$ scattering in p-wave yields the well-known vector resonance $ψ(3770)$. For $m_π= 156$ MeV, the extracted resonance mass and the decay width agree with experiment within large statistical uncertainty. The scalar charmonium resonances present a puzzle, since only the ground state $χ_{c0}(1P)$ is well understood, while there is no co…
In this paper, we derive the mass exclusion limits for the hypothetical vector resonances of a strongly interacting extension of the Standard model using the most recent upper bounds on the cross sections for various resonance production processes. The $SU(2)_{L+R}$ triplet of the vector resonances under consideration is embedded into the effective Lagrangian based on the non-linear sigma model with the $125$-GeV $SU(2)_{L+R}$ scalar singlet. No direct interactions of the vector resonance to the SM fermions are assumed. We find that among eleven processes considered in this paper only those wh…
Large CP violation is an interesting phenomenon both theoretically and experimentally. Last year, LHCb Collaboration found in some three-body decays of bottom mesons that large CP violations appear in regions of the Dalitz plots that are not dominated by contributions from narrow resonances. In this paper, we present a mechanism which can induce such kind of large CP violations. In this mechanism, large localized CP asymmetries in phase space can be induced by the interference of two intermediate resonances with different spins. We also apply this mechanism to the decay channel $B^\pm\to K^\pm…
We study the interaction of the octet of vector mesons with the decuplet of baryons using Lagrangians of the hidden gauge theory for vector interactions. The unitary amplitudes in coupled channels develop poles that can be associated with some known baryonic resonances, while there are predictions for new ones at the energy frontier of the experimental research. The work offers guidelines on how to search for these resonances.
We show that the hadron vector resonances are described by fields transforming according to different inequivalent representations of the Lorentz group: (1/2,1/2) and (1,0)+(0,1). The vector representation (1/2,1/2) is well studied and corresponds to the gauge fields. On the other hand, the chiral representations (1,0) and (0,1) are described by the second rank antisymmetric tensor fields, for which interaction theory has not yet been constructed. In the framework of the phenomenological Nambu - Jona-Lasinio approach we have introduced and used all these fields for a description of the vector …
We study the decay of dynamically generated resonances from the interaction of two vectors into a $γ$ and a pseudoscalar meson. The dynamics requires anomalous terms involving vertices with two vectors and a pseudoscalar, which renders it special. We compare our result with data on $K^{*+}(1430)\to K^+γ$ and $K^{*0}(1430)\to K^0γ$ and find a good agreement with the data for the $K^{*+}(1430)$ case and a width considerably smaller than the upper bound measured for the $K^{*0}(1430)$ meson.
The effective Lagrangian with scalar and vector resonances that might result from new strong physics beyond the SM is formulated and studied. In particular, the scalar resonance representing the recently discovered 125-GeV boson is complemented with the SU(2)_{L+R} triplet of hypothetical vector resonances. Motivated by experimental and theoretical considerations, the vector resonance is allowed to couple directly to the third quark generation only. The coupling is chiral-dependent and the interaction of the right top quark can differ from that of the right bottom quark. To estimate the applic…
We investigate the coupling of vector mesons with nucleons to nucleon resonances in an isospin-selective VMD approach and explore the in-medium properties of vector mesons.
Within the framework of chiral effective field theory, we study various electromagnetic processes with light vector resonances: $K^{\ast}(892)\to Kγ$, $e^{+}e^{-}\to K^{\ast}(892)K $ and the $ωπγ^\ast$ form factors. With two multiplets of vector resonances being introduced, we fit the decay widths of $K^{\ast0}\to K^{0}γ$, $K^{\ast+}\to K^{+}γ$, and the pertinent measurements from the $e^{+}e^{-}\to K^{\ast \pm}(892)K^{\mp} $ cross sections, such as moduli and relative phases between the isoscalar and isovector components from BABAR collaboration, together with the $ωπ$ form factors from NA60,…
We examine a simple Composite Higgs Model (CHM) with vector resonances in addition to the Standard Model (SM) fields in perturbation theory by using the $K$-matrix method to implement unitarity constraints. We find that the $W_LW_L$ scattering amplitude has an additional scalar pole (analogous to the $σ$ meson of QCD) as in generic strongly interacting extensions of the SM. The mass and width of this dynamically generated scalar resonance are large and the mass behaves contrary to the vector one, so that when the vector resonance is lighter, the scalar one is heavier, and vice versa. We also a…
We make a theoretical study of the s-wave interaction of the nonet of vector mesons with the octet of pseudoscalar mesons starting from a chiral invariant Lagrangian and implementing unitarity in coupled channels. By looking for poles in the unphysical Riemann sheets of the unitarized scattering amplitudes, we get two octets and one singlet of axial-vector dynamically generated resonances. The poles found can be associated to most of the low lying axial-vector resonances quoted in the Particle Data Book: $b_1(1235)$, $h_1(1170)$, $h_1(1380)$, $a_1(1260)$, $f_1(1285)$ and two poles to the $K_1(…
The form factor of the vector meson V conversion transition into the pseudoscalar meson P and the lepton pair l+l- is presented for V=rho0,omega,phi and P=pi0,eta. Our approach is based on the chiral effective field theory with resonances. The normalized form factor for omega -> pi gamma* transition was fitted to the recent NA 60 data by varying the only free parameter sigma_V. The results are compared to the available data and to the predictions of other models.
We discuss an Nf=3 linear sigma model with vector and axial-vector mesons (extended Linear Sigma Model - eLSM). We present first results regarding the masses of axial-vector mesons determined from the extended model.
We calculate the coupling between a vector resonance and two Goldstone bosons in $SU(2)$ gauge theory with $N_f=2$ Dirac fermions in the fundamental representation. The considered theory can be used to construct a minimal Composite Higgs models. The coupling is related to the width of the vector resonance and we determine it by simulating the scattering of two Goldstone bosons where the resonance is produced. The resulting coupling is $g_{\rm{VPP}}=7.8\pm 0.6$, not far from $g_{ρππ}\simeq 6$ in QCD. This is the first lattice calculation of the resonance properties for a minimal UV completion. …
We study the relation of vector Proca field formalism and antisymmetric tensor field formalism for spin-one resonances in the context of the large N_C inspired chiral resonance Lagrangian systematically up to the order O(p6) and give a transparent prescription for the transition from vector to antisymmetric tensor Lagrangian and vice versa. We also discuss the possibility to describe the spin-one resonances using an alternative "mixed" first order formalism, which includes both types of fields simultaneously, and compare this one with the former two. We also briefly comment on the compatibilit…
We show that the study of scalar resonances at various vector boson scattering processes at the Large Hadron Collider can serve as a useful tool to distinguish between different extensions of the scalar sector of the Standard Model. The recent measurement of the Higgs boson properties leaves enough room for the extended scalar sectors to be relevant for such studies. The shape of the resonances, being model dependent, can shed light on the viable parameter space of a number of theoretical models.
We have analysed the observable consequences of the interactions of spin-1 resonances coupled to the invariant fermionic currents that arise in an $SO(5)$ Composite Higgs set-up. The phenomenology entailed by such interactions is thoroughly analysed by studying heavy vector resonances production and decay modes in the viable resonance mass range. Additionally, the production of double and single-composite fermion final states has been scanned along the fermion mass scale. Such production is mediated by the SM gauge and Higgs interactions, and also by charged and neutral vector resonances. The …
Features of the non-strange \bar n-n and strange \bar s-s scalar mesons are investigated in the Extended Linear Sigma Model (eLSM) with Nf=3 and vector and axial-vector mesons. Our model contains a pure non-strange and a pure strange scalar state; implementing the mixing of the two states originates two new states, a predominantly non-strange and a predominantly strange one. We investigate the possibility to assign the two mixed states to experimentally well-established resonances. To this end, we calculate the masses and the two-pion decay widths of the mixed states and compare them with expe…
The main idea of the first order formalism is demonstrated on a toy example of spin-0 particle. The full formalism for spin-1 is applied to the vector formfactor of the pion and its high-energy behaviour is studied.

The measurement of the branching fraction of a heavy quarkonium decaying into light hadronic final state at $e^+e^-$ colliders is revisited. In $e^+e^-$ annihilation experiments, background contributions from the continuum amplitude and its interference with the resonance amplitude are irreducible. These effects become more and more significant as the precision of experimental measurements improves. While the former can be easily subtracted with data taken off the resonance peak, the latter depends on the relative size and phase between the resonance and continuum amplitudes. Two ratios are de…
Several models predict the existence of new vector resonances in the multi-TeV region, which can be produced in high energy e+e- collisions in the s-channel. In this paper we review the existing limits on the masses of these resonances from LEP/SLC and TEVATRON data and from atomic parity violation in some specific models. We study the potential of a multi-TeV e+e- collider, such as CLIC, for the determination of their properties and nature.
We study the interaction of vector mesons with the octet of stable baryons in the framework of the local hidden gauge formalism using a coupled channels unitary approach, including also the pseudoscalar-baryon channels which couple to the same quantum numbers. We examine the scattering amplitudes and their poles, which can be associated to known $J^P=1/2^-,3/2^-$ baryon resonances, and determine the role of the pseudoscalar-baryon channels, changing the width and eventually the mass of the resonances generated with only the basis of vector-baryon states.
Motivated by new models of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking that predict a light composite higgs boson, we build an effective lagrangian which describes the Standard Model (with a light Higgs) and vector resonances. We compute the cross section for the associate production of a higgs and a gauge boson. For some values of model parameters we find that the cross section is significantly enhanced with respect to the Standard Model. This enhancement is similar at the LHC and the Tevatron for the same range of resonance mass.
We study the vector-vector interaction within the framework of the hidden gauge formalism for the channels with quantum numbers Charm C=0 and Strangeness S=0 in the energy region around 4000 MeV. By looking for poles in the complex plane we find three resonances that could be identified by the mass, width and quantum numbers with the Y(3940), Z(3940) and X(4160), these poles appear with isospin I=0 and J^{PC}=0^{++}, 2^{++} and 2^{++} respectively. Whereas the Y(3940) and Z(3940) are coupled more strongly to D^*\bar{D}^*, the X(4160) is basically a D^*_s \bar{D}^*_s molecular state. Another tw…
Vector bosons heavier than $10^{-22}$ eV can be viable dark matter candidates with distinctive experimental signatures. Ultralight dark matter generally requires a non-thermal origin to achieve the observed density, while still behaving like a pressureless fluid at late times. We show that such a production mechanism naturally occurs for vectors whose mass originates from a dark Higgs. If the dark Higgs has a large field value after inflation, the energy in the Higgs field can be efficiently transferred to vectors through parametric resonance. Computing the resulting abundance and spectra requ…
By employing vector meson dominance to establish the electromagnetic interactions of hadrons, the electromagnetic self-energy of the neutral pions, which receives the contributions from the vector resonances due to chiral anomaly, is evaluated. This part of the electromagentic mass, which can contribute to the mass difference of $π^\pm-π^0$, is finite and as expected, is smaller than the contributions due to isospin symmetry breaking and electromagnetic chiral logs corrections, however, could be compared with the contribution from the short distance QCD.
Color-singlet and color-octet vector bosons predicted in theories beyond the Standard Model have the potential to be discovered as dijet resonances at the LHC. A color-singlet resonance that has leptophobic couplings needs further investigation to be distinguished from a color-octet one. In previous work, we introduced a method for discriminating between the two kinds of resonances when their couplings are flavor-universal, using measurements of the dijet resonance mass, total decay width and production cross-section. Here, we describe two extensions of that work. First, we broaden the method …
We perform a theoretical study of the $χ_{cJ} \to ϕK^* \bar K \to ϕKπ\bar K$ reaction taking into account the $K^* \bar K$ final state interaction, which in the chiral unitary approach is responsible, together with its coupled channels, for the formation of the low lying axial vector mesons, in this case the $h_1(1380)$ given the selection of quantum numbers. Based on this picture we can easily explain why in the $χ_{c0}$ decay the $h_1(1380)$ resonance is not produced, and, in the case of $χ_{c1}$ and $χ_{c2}$ decay, why a dip in the $K^+ π^0 K^-$ mass distribution appears in the 1550-1600 Me…
The upper bounds that the LHC measurements searching for heavy resonances beyond the Standard model set on the resonance production cross sections are not universal. They depend on various characteristics of the resonance under consideration, like its mass, spin, and its interaction pattern. Their validity are also limited by the assumptions and approximations applied to their calculations. The bounds are typically used to derive the mass exclusion limits for the new resonances. In our work, we address some of the issues that emerge when deriving the mass exclusion limits for the strongly coup…
We modify a chiral effective lagrangian recently suggested to describe interactions of the light pseudoscalars with mesons containing a heavy quark, so as to incorporate light vector resonances, such as $ρ$, etc. The modification uses the hidden gauge symmetry approach. As a preliminary example we present an application to the semileptonic $D\to K^\star$ decay.
We propose a minimal model of a fermionic dark matter with a pseudoscalar mediator and N generation of vector-like quarks. We calculate the relic density and obtain new constraint on the generation of the aforementioned quarks. Concerning phenomenological aspects, we probe the presenting model via direct and indirect approaches. Finally, as an illustrative example, we evaluate a resonance case which has been (would be) the subject of major experiments aiming to detect new particles. Performing this analysis results in significant constraints on the coupling strength of the vector-like quarks.
We study the vector-vector interaction within the framework of the hidden gauge formalism for the sector with quantum numbers charm C=0 and strangeness S=0 in the region around 4000 MeV. We get five poles, three of which could be identified with the Y(3940), Z(3930) and X(4160). These poles appear with quantum numbers I=0 and $J^{PC}=0^{++},2^{++}$ and $2^{++}$, respectively, and can be considered as hadronic molecules made of $D^*\bar{D}^*$, $D_s^*\bar{D}^*_s$.
In this paper we consider a simple scenario where the Higgs boson and two vector resonances are supposed to arise from a new strong interacting sector. We use the ATLAS measurements of the dijet spectrum to set limits on the masses of the resonances. Additionally we compute the Higgs boson decay to two photons and found, when compare to the Standard Model prediction, a small excess which is compatible with ATLAS measurements. Finally we make prediction for Higgs-strahlung processes for the LHC running at 14 TeV.
We study the radiative decay into $γ$ and a baryon of the SU(3) octet and decuplet of nine and ten resonances that are dynamically generated from the interaction of vector mesons with baryons of the octet and the decuplet respectively. We obtain quite different partial decay widths for the various resonances, and for different charge states of the same resonance, suggesting that the experimental investigation of these radiative decays should bring much information on the nature of these resonances. For the case of baryons of the octet we determine the helicity amplitudes and compare them with …

The bounds are typically used to derive the mass exclusion limits for the new resonances. The most likely spin assignments of the recently discovered 126 GeV resonance are spin 0 or 2. In order to distinguish the two, we construct an effective Lagrangian model which comprises interactions of a spin-2 electroweak singlet or triplet state with the SM gauge bosons. Within this model, cross sections and differential distributions are calculated and implemented within the Monte Carlo program VBFNLO, which simulates vector-boson-fusion processes at hadron colliders at NLO QCD accuracy. We study the phenomenology of spin-2 resonances produced in vector-boson-fusion processes at the LHC. S…
Vector boson scattering is (together with the production of multiple electroweak gauge bosons) the key process in the current run 2 of LHC to probe the microscopic nature of electroweak symmetry breaking. Deviations from the Standard Model are generically parameterized by higher-dimensional operators, however, there is a subtle issue of perturbative unitarity for such approaches for the process above. We discuss a parameter-free unitarization prescription to get physically meaningful predictions. In the second part, we construct simplified models for generic new resonances that can appear in v…
We present the first dynamical calculation of the $ρ$-meson as a resonance in the Dyson-Schwinger/Bethe-Salpeter framework by including explicit two-pion exchange in addition to the t-channel one-gluon exchange of rainbow-ladder in the interaction kernel. The width is determined from the imaginary part of the resonance pole and is generated by the singularity structure of the integrand, treated by means of suitable path deformations. We find the resonant mass and width to be $640$ MeV and $100$ MeV respectively, corresponding to a coupling constant $g_{ρππ}=5.7$; repulsive corrections beyond r…
We provide a non-linear realisation of composite Higgs models in the context of the SU(4)/Sp(4) symmetry breaking pattern, where the effective Lagrangian of the spin-0 and spin-1 resonances is constructed via the CCWZ prescription using the Hidden Symmetry formalism. We investigate the EWPT constraints by accounting the effects from reduced Higgs couplings and integrating out heavy spin-1 resonances. This theory emerges from an underlying theory of gauge interactions with fermions, thus first principle lattice results predict the massive spectrum in composite Higgs models. This model can be us…
The properties of mesonic resonances can be calculated in terms of the low-energy coefficients of chiral perturbation theory (chiPT) by extending unitarized chiPT to higher energies. On the other hand these low-energy coefficients can be calculated in two different models, namely (i) by assuming resonance saturation and (ii) within a constituent quark model. By matching the expressions of the two models combined with the results of unitarized chiPT and the Weinberg sum rules the properties of vector and axial-vector mesons can be calculated in the combined large-N_c and chiral limit.
We apply a unitary approach together with a set of hidden-gauge Lagrangians to study the vector-vector interaction. We study the case of the $ρ$($ω$)$D^*$ interaction within the model. In $I=1/2$ we get strong enough attraction to bind the system. Concretely, we get one resonance for each spin $J=0,1,2$. For J=1 and 2 these resonances can be easily identified with the $D^*(2460)$ and $D^*(2640)$. Whereas the state for J=0 with mass $M\sim2600$ MeV is a prediction of the model. In $I=3/2$ we get a repulsive interaction and hence no exotic dynamically generated states.
We consider a model where the electroweak symmetry breaking is driven by strong dynamics, resulting in an electroweak doublet scalar condensate, and transmitted to the standard model matter fields via another electroweak doublet scalar. At low energies the effective theory therefore shares features with a type-I two Higgs doublet model. However, important differences arise due to the rich composite spectrum expected to contain new vector resonances accessible at the LHC. We carry out a systematic analysis of the vector resonance signals at LHC and find that the model remains viable, but will b…
