The upper bounds that the LHC measurements searching for heavy resonances beyond the Standard model set on the resonance production cross sections are not universal. They depend on various characteristics of the resonance under consideration, like its mass, spin, and its interaction pattern. Their validity are also limited by the assumptions and approximations applied to their calculations. The bounds are typically used to derive the mass exclusion limits for the new resonances. In our work, we address some of the issues that emerge when deriving the mass exclusion limits for the strongly coupled composite $SU(2)_{L+R}$ vector resonance triplet which would interact directly to the third quark generation only. We investigate the restrictions on the applicability of the generally used limit-obtaining procedure to this particular type of vector resonances. We demonstrate that, in this case, it is necessary to consider the bottom quark partonic contents of the proton. Eventually, we find the mass exclusion limits for this resonance triplet for some representative subsets of the parameter space.

Discoveries come through exclusions, confirmations or revolutionary findings with respect to a theory canon populated by the Standard Model (SM) and beyond the SM (BSM) theories. Guaranteed discoveries are accomplished only through pursuit of BSM exclusion/confirmation, and thus require investment in the continual formation and analysis of a vibrant theory canon combined with investment in experiment with demonstrated capacity to make BSM exclusions/confirmations. Risks develop when steering away from BSM-oriented work toward its methodological rival, "signalism," which seeks to realize SM fal…
LHC searches for non-standard Higgs bosons decaying into tau lepton pairs constitute a sensitive experimental probe for physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM), such as Supersymmetry (SUSY). Recently, the limits obtained from these searches have been presented by the CMS collaboration in a nearly model-independent fashion - as a narrow resonance model - based on the full 8 TeV dataset. In addition to publishing a 95% C.L. exclusion limit, the full likelihood information for the narrow resonance model has been released. This provides valuable information that can be incorporated into global BSM…
We consider an effective field theory framework with three standard model (SM) gauge singlet right handed neutrinos, and an additional SM gauge singlet scalar field. The framework successfully generates eV masses of the light neutrinos via seesaw mechanism, and accommodates a feebly interacting massive particle (FIMP) as dark matter candidate. Two of the gauge singlet neutrinos participate in neutrino mass generation, while the third gauge singlet neutrino is a FIMP dark matter. We explore the correlation between the $\textit{vev}$ of the gauge singlet scalar field which translates as mass of …
Experiments searching for Heavy Neutral Leptons (HNLs) typically interpret their results within simplified models consisting of a single HNL coupled to a single lepton flavor. However, any model which aims to describe neutrino oscillations necessarily features more than one HNL, coupled to several flavors. As we show in this work, the reinterpretation of the results of experimental searches in terms of realistic models is a non-trivial task. We perform a detailed reinterpretation of the latest ATLAS search for prompt HNLs in W decays within a minimal low-scale seesaw with two HNLs. We show tha…
We describe some salient features of the $331_F$ (Frampton-Pisano-Pleitez) bilepton model, in which the constraints of anomaly cancelation require the number of generations to be three. In a class of six models, four of which characterised by a $β$ parameter describing the embedding of the hypercharge in the $SU(3)_L$ symmetry, a specific choice for $β$ allows bileptons in the spectrum, i.e. vectors and scalars of lepton numbers $\pm 2$. At the same time the model allows exotic quarks, with the third quark generation treated asymmetrically respect to the other two. Bileptons generate specific …
A key research question at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the test of models of new physics. Testing if a particular parameter set of such a model is excluded by LHC data is a challenge: It requires the time consuming generation of scattering events, the simulation of the detector response, the event reconstruction, cross section calculations and analysis code to test against several hundred signal regions defined by the ATLAS and CMS experiment. In the BSM-AI project we attack this challenge with a new approach. Machine learning tools are thought to predict within a fraction of a millisec…
This thesis covers a few successes of the SM and its limitations. The limitations implement that the SM must be expanded to explain the observables which can not be addressed by the SM such as mass of neutrinos, a few of anomalies, DM, DE, etc. In order to extend the SM, we take the model-dependent approach and a minimal extension to the SM. For the minimal extension, we make use of vector-like family, SM-like scalar (plus a singlet flavon), and $U(1)^\prime$ symmetry. A first BSM model in my first work is to explain both the electron and muon anomalous magnetic moments at the same time, while…
We follow the example of Cabibbo by revising the Standard Model (SM) to present a universal mass structure for fermions. A universal Higgs coupling for each species of fundamental fermions moves the SM towards a Theory of Matter, albeit without correctly describing the observed mass spectrum. It exposes a need for a complete Theory of Matter to include components from physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). Describing the effect of these components phenomenologically provides a means to infer the nature of some of the BSM physics required. Our results also provide constraints on some BSM matr…
In the context of the Standard model with a fourth generation, we explore the allowed mass spectra in the fourth generation quark and lepton sectors as functions of the Higgs mass. Using the constraints from unitarity and oblique parameters, we show that a heavy Higgs allows large mass splittings in these sectors, opening up new decay channels involving W emission. A Higgs heavier than $ \sim 800 GeV $ would in fact necessitate either a heavy quark decay channel t'-> b'W/b'-> t' W or a heavy lepton decay channel τ' -> ν' W as long as the mixing between the third and fourth generations is small…
We explore the physics of a new neutral gauge boson, ($Z^\prime$), coupling to only third-generation particles with a mass near the electroweak gauge boson mass poles. A $Z^\prime$ boson produced by top quarks and decaying to tau leptons is considered. With a simple search strategy inspired by existing analyses of the standard model gauge boson production in association with top quarks, we show that the Large Hadron Collider has good exclusionary power over the model parameter space of the $Z^\prime$ boson even at the advent of the high-luminosity era. It is shown that the $t\bar{t}Z^\prime$ p…
A common lore has arisen that beyond the Standard Model (BSM) particles, which can be searched for at current and proposed experiments, should have flavorless or mostly third-generation interactions with Standard Model quarks. This theoretical bias severely limits the exploration of BSM phenomenology, and is especially constraining for extended Higgs sectors. Such limitations can be avoided in the context of Spontaneous Flavor Violation (SFV), a robust and UV complete framework that allows for significant couplings to any up or down-type quark, while suppressing flavor-changing neutral current…
We study the LHC signatures of TeV scale vectorlike quarks $b'$, $t'$ and $χ$ with electromagnetic charges -1/3, 2/3 and 5/3 that appear in many beyond the standard model (BSM) extensions. We consider warped extra-dimensional models and analyze the phenomenology of such vectorlike quarks that are the custodial partners of third generation quarks. In addition to the usually studied pair-production channels which depend on the strong coupling, we put equal emphasis on single production channels that depend on electroweak couplings and on electroweak symmetry breaking induced mixing effects betwe…
In this paper we present an analysis strategy and a dedicated tool to determine the exclusion confidence level for any scenario involving multiple heavy extra quarks with generic decay channels, as predicted in several extensions of the Standard Model. We have created, validated and used a software package, called XQCAT (eXtra Quark Combined Analysis Tool), which is based on publicly available experimental data from direct searches for top partners and from Supersymmetry inspired searches. By means of this code, we recast the limits from CMS on new heavy extra quarks considering a complete set…
We study the Higgs-boson mass spectrum of a classical scale-invariant realization of the two-Higgs-doublet model (SI-2HDM). The classical scale symmetry of the theory is explicitly broken by quantum loop effects due to gauge interactions, Higgs self-couplings and top-quark Yukawa couplings. We determine the allowed parameter space compatible with perturbative unitarity and electroweak precision data. Taking into account the LEP and the recent LHC exclusion limits on a Standard-Model-like Higgs boson H_SM, we obtain rather strict constraints on the mass spectrum of the heavy Higgs sector of the…
The new vector-like top partners with charge $2/3$ are a typical feature of many new physics models beyond the Standard Model (SM). We propose a search strategy for single production of top partners $T$ focusing on both the $T\to Wb$ and $T\to th$ decay channels at the Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC). Our analysis is based on a simplified model in which the top partner is an $SU(2)$ singlet, with couplings only to the third generation of SM quarks. We study the observability of the single $T$ through the processes $e^{+}p \to T(\to bW^{+})\barν_{e}\to b\ell^{+}+ \not E_T^{miss}$ and $e^{…
Leptoquarks (LQ) with couplings to the third generation of Standard Model (SM) quarks have been proposed as possible explanations of the flavour anomalies indicating the violation of lepton flavour universality (LFV). The CMS collaboration has initiated an extensive search programme for these new states in the LHC run-2 data recorded at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. In this article, the CMS search results in the LQ pair-production final states $τb\,τb$, $νt\,νt$, $νb\,νb$, $τt\,τt$, and $μt\,μt$, as well as in the LQ single-production final state $τ\,τb$ are discussed. No significant deviation from the S…
