The aim of this paper is to derive a new uncertainty principle for the generalized $q$-Bessel wavelet transform studied earlier in \cite{Rezguietal}. In this paper, an uncertainty principle associated with wavelet transforms in the $q$-calculus framework has been established. A two-parameters extension of the classical Bessel operator is applied to generate a wavelet function which is exploited next to explore a wavelet uncertainty principle already in the $q$-calculus framework.
In the present work we are concerned with the development of a new uncertainty principle based on wavelet transform in the Clifford analysis/algebras framework. We precisely derive a sharp Heisenberg-type uncertainty principle for the continuous Clifford wavelet transform.
In this paper we derive a Heisenberg-type uncertainty principle for the continuous Clifford wavelet transform. A brief review of Clifford algebra/analysis, wavelet transform on $\mathbb{R}$ and Clifford-Fourier transform and their proprieties has been conducted. Next, such concepts have been applied to develop an uncertainty principle based on Clifford wavelets.
In the paper, asymptotic behavior of the uncertainty product for a family of zonal spherical wavelets is computed. The family contains the most popular wavelets, such as Gauss-Weierstrass, Abel-Poisson and Poisson wavelets and Mexican needlets. Boundedness of the uncertainty constant is in general not given, but it is a property of some of the wavelets from this class.
Poisson wavelets are a powerful tool in analysis of spherical signals. In order to have a deeper characterization of them, we compute their uncertainty product, a quantity introduced for the first time by Narcowich and Ward in~\cite{NW96} and used to measure the trade-off between the space and frequency localization of a function. Surprisingly, the uncertainty product of Poisson wavelets tends to the minimal value in some limiting cases. This shows that in the case of spherical functions, not only Gauss kernel has this property.
Motivated by results of Dyatlov on Fourier uncertainty principles for Cantor sets and by similar results of Knutsen for joint time-frequency representations (i.e., the short-time Fourier transform (STFT) with a Gaussian window, equivalent to Fock spaces), we suggest a general setting relating localization and uncertainty and prove, within this context, an uncertainty principle for Cantor sets in Bergman spaces on the unit disk, where the Cantor set is defined as a union of annuli that are equidistributed in the hyperbolic measure. The result can be written in terms of analytic Cauchy wavelets. …
Wavelets on the sphere are reintroduced and further developed independently of the original group theoretic formalism, in an equivalent, but more straightforward approach. These developments are motivated by the interest of the scale-space analysis of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies on the sky. A new, self-consistent, and practical approach to the wavelet filtering on the sphere is developed. It is also established that the inverse stereographic projection of a wavelet on the plane (i.e. Euclidean wavelet) leads to a wavelet on the sphere (i.e. spherical wavelet). This new c…
We describe a connection between minimal uncertainty states and holomorphy-type conditions on the images of the respective wavelet transform. The most familiar example is the Fock-Segal-Bargmann transform generated by the Gaussian, however, this also occurs under more general assumptions.
Huygens' principle has a well-known problem with back-propagation due to the spherical nature of the secondary wavelets. We solve this by analytically continuing the surface of integration. If the surface is a sphere of radius $R$, this is done by complexifying $R$ to $R+ia$. The resulting complex sphere is shown to be a real bundle of disks with radius $a$ tangent to the sphere. Huygens' "secondary source points" are thus replaced by disks, and his spherical wavelets by well-focused pulsed beams propagating outward. This solves the back-propagation problem. The extended Huygens principle is a…
The entropic uncertainty principle as outlined by Maassen and Uffink for a pair of non-degenerate observables in a finite level qusystem is generalized here to the case of a pair of arbitrary quantum measurements. In particular, our result includes not only the case of projectivmeasurements (or equivalently, observables) exhibiting degeneracy but also an uncertainty principle for a single measurement.
This paper derives a new directional uncertainty principle for quaternion valued functions subject to the quaternion Fourier transformation. This can be generalized to establish directional uncertainty principles in Clifford geometric algebras with quaternion subalgebras. We demonstrate this with the example of a directional spacetime algebra function uncertainty principle related to multivector wave packets.
We study the geometric structure of the reproducing kernel Hilbert space associated to the continuous wavelet transform generated by the irreducible representations of the Euclidean Motion $SE(2)$. A natural Hilbert norm for functions on the group is constructed that makes the wavelet transform an isometry, but since the considered representations are not square integrable the resulting Hilbert space will not coincide with $L^2(SE(2))$. The reproducing kernel Hilbert subspace generated by the wavelet transform, for the case of a minimal uncertainty mother wavelet, can be characterized in terms…
The phenomenon in the essence of classical uncertainty principles is well known since the thirties of the last century. We introduce a new phenomenon which is in the essence of a new notion that we introduce: "Generalized Uncertainty Principles". We show the relation between classical uncertainty principles and generalized uncertainty principles. We generalized "Landau-Pollak-Slepian" uncertainty principle. Our generalization relates the following two quantities and two scaling parameters: 1) The weighted time spreading $\int_{-\infty}^\infty |f(x)|^2w_1(x)dx$, ($w_1(x)$ is a non-negative func…
We prove a simple uncertainty principle and show that it can be applied to prove Wegner estimates near fluctuation boundaries. This gives new classes of models for which localization at low energies can be proven.
Recently Kosaki proved an uncertainty principle for matrices, related to Wigner-Yanase-Dyson information, and asked if a similar inequality could be proved in the von Neumann algebra setting. In this paper we prove such an uncertainty principle in the semifinite case.
For unbounded operators A,B and C in general, with C closure of [A,B] does not lead to the uncertainty relation ||Au|| ||Bu|| >= |<C u,u> |/2. If A,B and C are part of the generators of a unitary representation of a Lie group then the uncertainty principle above holds.
Fractal uncertainty principle states that no function can be localized in both position and frequency near a fractal set. This article provides a review of recent developments on the fractal uncertainty principle and of their applications to quantum chaos, including lower bounds on mass of eigenfunctions on negatively curved surfaces and spectral gaps on convex co-compact hyperbolic surfaces.
A sharper uncertainty inequality which exhibits a lower bound larger than that in the classical N-dimensional Heisenberg's uncertainty principle is obtained, and extended from N-dimensional Fourier transform domain to two N-dimensional fractional Fourier transform domains. The conditions that reach the equality relation of the uncertainty inequalities are deduced. Example and simulation are performed to illustrate that the newly derived uncertainty principles are truly sharper than the existing ones in the literature. The new proposals' applications in time-frequency and optical system analysi…
In this article, we prove various smooth uncertainty principles on von Neumann bi-algebras, which unify numbers of uncertainty principles on quantum symmetries, such as subfactors, and fusion bi-algebras etc, studied in quantum Fourier analysis. We also obtain Widgerson-Wigderson type uncertainty principles for von Neumann bi-algebras. Moreover, we give a complete answer to a conjecture proposed by A. Wigderson and Y. Wigderson.
We show how a number of well-known uncertainty principles for the Fourier transform, such as the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, the Donoho--Stark uncertainty principle, and Meshulam's non-abelian uncertainty principle, have little to do with the structure of the Fourier transform itself. Rather, all of these results follow from very weak properties of the Fourier transform (shared by numerous linear operators), namely that it is bounded as an operator $L^1 \to L^\infty$, and that it is unitary. Using a single, simple proof template, and only these (or weaker) properties, we obtain some new …
In this paper, we calculate the norm of the string Fourier transform on subfactor planar algebras and characterize the extremizers of the inequalities for parameters $0<p,q\leq \infty$. Furthermore, we establish Rényi entropic uncertainty principles for subfactor planar algebras.
