Finite generation for valuations computing stability thresholds and applications to K-stability

We prove that on any log Fano pair of dimension $n$ whose stability threshold is less than $\frac{n+1}{n}$, any valuation computing the stability threshold has a finitely generated associated graded ring. Together with earlier works, this implies: (a) a log Fano pair is uniformly K-stable (resp. reduced uniformly K-stable) if and only if it is K-stable (resp. K-polystable); (b) the K-moduli spaces are proper and projective; and combining with the previously known equivalence between the existence of Kähler-Einstein metric and reduced uniform K-stability proved by the variational approach, (c) the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture holds for general (possibly singular) log Fano pairs.

Thresholds, valuations, and K-stability

Let X be a normal complex projective variety with at worst klt singularities, and L a big line bundle on X. We use valuations to study the log canonical threshold of L, as well as another invariant, the stability threshold. The latter generalizes a notion by Fujita and Odaka, and can be used to characterize when a Q-Fano variety is K-semistable or uniformly K-stable. Optimal destabilization of K-unstable Fano varieties via stability thresholds

We show that for a K-unstable Fano variety, any divisorial valuation computing its stability threshold induces a non-trivial special test configuration preserving the stability threshold. When such a divisorial valuation exists, we show that the Fano variety degenerates to a uniquely determined twisted K-polystable Fano variety. We also show that the stability threshold can be approximated by divisorial valuations induced by special test configurations. Computing tropical varieties over fields with valuation

We show how tropical varieties of ideals I over a field K with non-trivial valuation can be traced back to tropical varieties of ideals in R[[t]][x] over some dense subring R in its ring of integers. Moreover, for homogeneous ideals, we present algorithms on how the latter can be computed in finite time, provided that generators are polynomial in t. While doing so, we also comment on the computation of the Groebner polytope structure and p-adic Groebner bases using our framework. All algorithms solely rely on existing standard basis techniques.

Toward finite generation of higher rational rank valuations

A Minimizing Valuation is Quasi-monomial

We prove a version of Jonsson-Mustaţǎ's Conjecture, which says for any graded sequence of ideals, there exists a quasi-monomial valuation computing its log canonical threshold. As a corollary, we confirm Chi Li's conjecture that a minimizer of the normalized volume function is always quasi-monomial. Applying our techniques to a family of klt singularities, we show that the volume of klt singularities is a constructible function. Log canonical thresholds in positive characteristic

In this paper, we study the singularities of a pair (X,Y) in arbitrary characteristic via jet schemes. For a smooth variety X in characteristic 0, Ein, Lazarsfeld and Mustata showed that there is a correspondence between irreducible closed cylinders and divisorial valuations on X. Via this correspondence, one can relate the codimension of a cylinder to the log discrepancy of the corresponding divisorial valuation. We now extend this result to positive characteristic. Jet schemes of quasi-ordinary surface singularities

In this paper we give a complete description of the irreducible components of the jet schemes (with origin in the singular locus) of a two-dimensional quasi-ordinary hypersurface singularity. We associate with these components and with their codimensions and embedding dimensions, a weighted graph. We prove that the data of this weighted graph is equivalent to the data of the topological type of the singularity. A procedure for computing the log canonical threshold of a binomial ideal

We present a procedure for computing the log-canonical threshold of an arbitrary ideal generated by binomials and monomials. The computation of the log canonical threshold is reduced to the problem of computing the minimum of a function, which is defined in terms of the generators of the ideal. The minimum of this function is attained at some ray of a fan which only depends on the exponents of the monomials appearing in the generators of the ideal.

On divisors computing MLD's and LCT's

We show that if a divisor centered over a point on a smooth surface computes a minimal log discrepancy, then the divisor also computes a log canonical threshold. To prove the result, we study the asymptotic log canonical threshold of the graded sequence of ideals associated to a divisor over a variety. We systematically study this invariant and also prove a result describing which divisors compute asymptotic log canonical thresholds.
