Future long-baseline neutrino experiments will measure neutrino oscillation properties with unprecedented precision and will search for clear signatures of CP violation in the leptonic sector. Near detectors can measure the neutrino-electron scattering with high statistics, giving the chance for its precise measurement. We study, in this work, the expectations for the measurement of radiative corrections in this process. We focus on the determination of contributions that are exclusive to the neutrino channels, particularly on the neutrino charge radius. We illustrate how the perspectives in a first clear measurement of this effective quantity are encouraging.
We analyze the potential of accelerator-based neutrino experiments, such as the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment, to constrain a five dimensional operator mediating a beyond standard model interaction between mass dimension one fermion fields, labeled elko, and neutrino. We identify the parameter space where elko is a viable dark matter candidate.
Radiating a photon from the initial state provides a useful tool for studying a range of low energy physics using a high-energy e+ e- accelerator. Accurate results require careful calculation of the first order virtual photon corrections. We compare exact results for initial state radiative corrections, finding agreement to an order of 10^{-5} or better as a fraction of the Born cross-section for most of the range of photon energies, at CMS energies relevant in both high-energy collision and radiative return experiments.
We study the radiative corrections induced by the triple Higgs boson coupling $hhh$ in the three body decay $h\to ZZ^*\to Zl\bar l$. We show that these corrections are potentially sensitive to the specific value of this coupling in the Standard Model and the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM). These effects may induce corrections to the integrated decay width of the three-body decay of order few percent in the 2HDM and thus open a new window to test the Higgs boson self interaction in physics beyond the standard model.
Control over quantum electrodynamics (QED) radiative corrections is critical for precise determination of neutrino oscillation probabilities from observed (anti)neutrino detection rates. It is particularly important to understand any difference between such corrections for different flavors of (anti)neutrinos in charged-current interactions. We provide theoretical foundations for calculating these corrections. Using effective field theory, the corrections are shown to factorize into soft, collinear, and hard functions. The soft and collinear functions contain large logarithms in perturbation t…
We argue that the tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing pattern $V_0$ or its generalized form $V'_0$, which includes two arbitrary Majorana phases of CP violation, may result from an underlying flavor symmetry at a superhigh energy scale close to the seesaw scale ($\sim 10^{14}$ GeV). Taking the working assumption that three neutrino masses are nearly degenerate, we calculate radiative corrections to $V_0$ and $V'_0$ in their evolution down to the electroweak scale ($\sim 10^2$ GeV). Three mixing angles of $V_0$ or $V'_0$ are essentially stable against radiative corrections in the standard model (SM).…

Neutrino oscillation experiments at accelerator energies aim to establish charge-parity violation in the neutrino sector by measuring the energy-dependent rate of $ν_e$ appearance and $ν_μ$ disappearance in a $ν_μ$ beam. These experiments can precisely measure $ν_μ$ cross sections at near detectors, but $ν_e$ cross sections are poorly constrained and require theoretical inputs. In particular, quantum electrodynamics radiative corrections are different for electrons and muons. These corrections are proportional to the small quantum electrodynamics coupling $α\approx 1/137$; however, the large s…
High energy accelerators may probe into dark matter and the seesaw neutrino mass scales if they are not much heavier than ~O(TeV). In the absence of supersymmetry, we extend a class of SO(10) models to predict well known cold dark matter candidates while achieving precision unification with experimentally testable proton lifetime. The most important prediction is a new radiative seesaw formula of Ma type accessible to accelerator tests while the essential small value of its quartic coupling also emerges naturally. This dominates over the high-scale seesaw contributions making a major impact on…
Cosmology observations indicate that our universe is composed of 25% dark matter (DM), yet we know little about its microscopic properties. Whereas the gravitational interaction of DM is well understood, its interaction with the Standard Model is not. Direct detection experiments, the current standard, have a nuclear recoil interaction, low-mass sensitivity edge of order 1 GeV. To detect DM with mass below 1 GeV, either the sensitivity of the experiments needs to be improved or use of accelerators producing boosted low-mass DM are needed. Using neutrino detectors to search for low-mass DM is l…
We report on new results on $B \to K^* γ$ and recent studies on $B \to K^* \ell^+ \ell^-$ and $B \to h ν\barν$ at Belle at KEKB accelerator. All the analyses used full data sample of 711~fb${}^{-1}$ taken on $Υ(4S)$ resonance.
The radiative decay of ultrarelativistic massive neutrino $ν_i \rightarrow ν_j γ$ is investigated in electromagnetic fields in the framework of the Standard Model with lepton mixing. Estimates of the decay probability and ``decay cross-section'' for accelerator neutrinos of high energies in the electric field of nucleus permit one to discuss the general possibility of carrying out the neutrino experiment. Such an experiment could give unique information on mixing angles in the lepton sector of the Standard Model which would be almost independent of the specific neutrino masses.
The sensitivity of observables in radiative decays psi(2S) -> gamma chi_{1,2} -> gamma gamma J/psi to quadrupole (M2) admixtures in the dominant electric dipole (E1) transitions is explored. Emphasis is placed on distributions in a single angle, and several examples are given.
Motivated by a pilot experiment conducted by F.Vannucci et al. during a solar eclipse, we work out the geometry governing the radiative decays of solar neutrinos. Surprisingly, although a smaller proportion of the photons can be detected, the case of strongly non-degenerate neutrinos brings better limits in terms of the fundamental couplings. We advocate satellite-based experiments to improve the sensitivity.
We study physics possibility of Very Long Base-Line (VLBL) Neutrino-Oscillation Experiments with the High Intensity Proton Accelerator, which will be completed by the year 2007 in Tokai-village, Japan. As a target, a 100 kton-level water-Cerenkov detector is considered at 2,100 km away. Assuming the pulsed narrow-band nu_mu beams, we study sensitivity of such experiments to the neutrino mass hierarchy, the mass-squared differences, one CP phase and three angles of the lepton-flavor-mixing matrix. We find that experiments at a distance 2,100 km can determine the neutrino mass hierarchy if the m…
The GENIUS (\underline {Ge}rmanium in Liquid \underline {Ni}trogen \underline {U}nderground \underline {S}etup) project has been proposed in 1997 \cite{KK-BEY97} as first third generation double beta decay project, with a sensitivity aiming down to a level of an effective neutrino mass of $<m>\sim$ 0.01 - 0.001 eV. Such sensitivity has been shown to be indispensable to solve the question of the structure of the neutrino mass matrix which cannot be solved by neutrino oscillation experiments alone \cite{KKPS}. It will allow broad access also to many other topics of physics beyond the Standard Mo…
There is a proposal to send a neutrino beam from the Protvino accelerator complex located in Russia to the detector facility called `Oscillation Research with Cosmics in the Abyss' (ORCA) in the Mediterranean sea to study neutrino oscillation. This is called the P2O experiment which will have a baseline of 2588 km. In this paper, we carry out a sensitivity study to extract the best possible physics sensitivity of the P2O experiment. In particular, we study the effect of antineutrino runs, the role of background as well as the impact of controlling the systematic uncertainties vis-a-vis the sta…
In this paper, we discuss the possibilities offered to neutrino physics by the upgrades of the CERN accelerator complex. Emphasis is on the physics reach of a medium $γ$ (350-580) $β$-beam that fully exploits the improvements in the CERN accelerator complex for the luminosity/energy upgrade of the LHC. We show that, this design not only profits of the ongoing efforts for the upgrades of the LHC, but also leverage out the existing infrastructures of the LNGS underground laboratory. Furthermore, given the involved high neutrino energies, above 1 GeV, a non-magnetized iron detector could efficien…
The GENIUS (Germanium in Liquid Nitrogen Underground Setup) project has been proposed in 1997 [KK-BEY97] as first third generation double beta decay project, with a sensitivity aiming down to a level of an effective neutrino mass of <m_ν> < 0.01eV or less. Such sensitivity is important to fix the structure of the neutrino mass matrix with high accuracy, which cannot be done by neutrino oscillation experiments alone. GENIUS will allow broad access also to many other topics of physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics at the multi-TeV scale. For search of cold dark matter GENIUS will…

We calculate the long-distance radiative corrections δ^e_{LD} and δ^μ_{LD} to the K^0 -> π^- e^+ ν_e and the K^0 -> pi^- μ^+ ν_μ decay rates. This analysis includes contributions to the long-distance radiative corrections from outside the kinematically-allowed three-body Dalitz region and tests the sensitivity of the radiative corrections to the hadronic K-pi form factors. A program, KLOR, was written to numerically evaluate the radiative corrections and to generate Monte Carlo events for experimental acceptance studies. The K^0_{e3} and the K^0_{μ3} long-distance radiative correction paramete…
Experiments at a future $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider will be able to search for new particles with masses below the nominal centre-of-mass energy by analyzing collisions with initial-state radiation (radiative return). We show that machine learning methods that use imperfect or missing training labels can achieve sensitivity to generic new particle production in radiative return events. In addition to presenting an application of the classification without labels (CWoLa) search method in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions, our study combines weak supervision with variable-dimensional information by deploying a …
Taking into account recent theoretical and experimental inputs on reactor fluxes we reconsider the determination of the weak mixing angle from low energy experiments. We perform a global analysis to all available neutrino-electron scattering data from reactor antineutrino experiments, obtaining sin^2(theta_W) = 0.252 \pm 0.030. We discuss the impact of the new theoretical prediction for the neutrino spectrum, the new measurement of the reactor antineutrino spectrum by the Daya Bay collaboration, as well as the effect of radiative corrections. We also reanalyze the measurements of the nu_e-e cr…
We explore the feasibility of detecting heavy neutrinos by the existing facilities of neutrino experiments. A heavy neutrino in the mass range 1 MeV < M < 500 MeV is produced by pion or kaon decay, and decays to charged particles which leave signals in neutrino detectors. Taking the T2K experiment as a typical example, we estimate the heavy neutrino flux produced in the neutrino beam line. Due to massive nature of the heavy neutrino, the spectrum of the heavy neutrino is significantly different from that of the ordinary neutrinos. While the ordinary neutrinos are emitted to various directions …
We find an analytical expression of neutrino evolution operator in the Earth matter using perturbative approach in the context of three neutrino oscillations. We find that our analytical expression is highly accurate by comparing its results with the numerical solutions of neutrino evolution equation at energy scales relevant for solar, reactor, atmospheric, and accelerator neutrinos. Using our analytical approach we study the accuracy of hypothesis of treating the Earth density piecewise constant. We also study how the Earth matter effect can change the sensitivity to CP phase parameter $δ_{C…
Identifying the accelerators that produce the Galactic and extragalactic cosmic rays has been a priority mission of several generations of high energy gamma ray and neutrino telescopes; success has been elusive so far. Detecting the gamma-ray and neutrino fluxes associated with cosmic rays reaches a new watershed with the completion of IceCube, the first neutrino detector with sensitivity to the anticipated fluxes, and the construction of CTA, a ground-based gamma ray detector that will map and study candidate sources with unprecedented precision. In this paper, we revisit the prospects for re…
We study radiative corrections to chargino production at linear colliders with polarised electron beams. We calculate the one-loop corrected cross-sections for polarised electon beams due to three families of quarks and squarks, working in the $\bar{MS}$ scheme, extending our previous calculation of the unpolarised cross-section with one-loop corrections due to the third family of quarks and squarks. In some cases we find rather large corrections to the tree-level cross-sections. For example for the case of right-handed polarised electrons and large $\tan β$ the corrections can be of order 30%…
The full parameter space of supergravity grand unified theory with $SU(5)$ type $p \rightarrow \barν K$ proton decay is analysed using renormalization group induced electroweak symmetry breaking under the restrictions that the universal scalar mass $m_o$ and gluino mass are $\leq 1$ TeV (no extreme fine tuning) and the Higgs triplet mass obeys $M_{H_3}/M_G < 10$. Future proton decay experiments at SuperKamiokande or ICARUS can reach a sensitivity for the $\barν K$ mode of $(2-5) \times 10^{33}$ yr allowing a number of predictions concerning the SUSY mass spectrum. Thus either the $p \rightarro…
One loop electroweak radiative corrections to left-right parity violating Møller scattering ($e^-e^-\to e^-e^-$) asymmetries are presented. They reduce the standard model (tree level) prediction by 40$\pm 3$ \% where the main shift and uncertainty stem from hadronic vacuum polarization loops. A similar reduction also occurs for the electron-electron atomic parity violating interaction. That effect can be attributed to an increase of $\sin^2θ_W(q^2)$ by $3\%$ in running from $q^2=m_Z^2$ to 0. The sensitivity of the asymmetry to ``new physics'' is also discussed.
We propose a new possibility of using the coherently enhanced neutrino pair emission to probe light-mediator interactions between electron and neutrinos. With typical momentum transfer at the atomic $\mathcal O(1$\,eV) scale, this process is extremely sensitive for the mediator mass range $\mathcal O(10^{-3} \sim 10^4$) eV. The sensitivity on the product of couplings with electron ($g^e$ or $y^e$) and neutrinos ($g^ν$ or $y^ν$) can touch down to $|y^e y^ν| < 10^{-9} \sim 10^{-19}$ for a scalar mediator and $|g^e g^ν| < 10^{-15} \sim 10^{-26}$ for a vector one, with orders of improvement from t…
Radiative corrections in the phenomenology of particle physics lead to great predictions on the observables of the Standard Model (SM) which are in good agreement with different measurements on Particle Accelerators and Detectors and in the case of numeric predictions on Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and its study in the lattice for the low energy regime. This is a pedagogical paper in which we calculate the one loop scalar integral $A(m^2)$, that arises in the simplest radiative correction calculation, by means of the dimensional regularization. As main result, we perform also the evaluation o…
We discuss how the lepton CP phase can be constrained by accelerator and reactor measurements in an era without dedicated experiments for CP violation search. To characterize globally the sensitivity to the CP phase δ_{CP}, we introduce a new measure, the CP exclusion fraction, which quantifies what fraction of the δ_{CP} space can be excluded at a given input values of θ_{23} and δ_{CP}. Using the measure we study the CP sensitivity which may be possessed by the accelerator experiments T2K and NOvA. We show that, if the mass hierarchy is known, T2K and NOvA alone may exclude, respectively, ab…
In this paper, we discuss physics potential of the Very Long Base-Line (VLBL) Neutrino-Oscillation Experiments with the High Intensity Proton Accelerator (HIPA), which is planned to be built by 2006 in Tokaimura, Japan. We propose to use conventional narrow-band ν_μbeams (NBB) from HIPA for observing the ν_μ\to ν_e transition probability and the ν_μsurvival probability. The pulsed NBB allows us to obtain useful information through counting experiments at a huge water-Cherenkov detector which may be placed in our neighbor countries. We study sensitivity of such an experiment to the neutrino mas…
In this paper, we have analysed the latest data from NO$ν$A and T2K with the Lorentz invariance violation along with the standard oscillation hypothesis. We have found that the NO$ν$A data cannot distinguish between the two hypotheses at $1\, σ$ confidence level. T2K data and the combined data analysis excluded standard oscillation at $1\, σ$. All three cases do not have any hierarchy sensitivity when analysed with LIV. There is a mild tension between the two experiments, when analysed with LIV, as $θ_{23}$ at \nova best-fit is at higher octant but the same for T2K is at lower octant. NO$ν$A h…
The possibility of radiative effects induced by the Lorentz and CPT non-invariant interaction term for fermions in the Standard Model Extension is investigated. In particular, electron-positron photo-production and photon emission by electrons and positrons are studied. The rates of these processes are calculated in the Furry picture. It is demonstrated that the rates obtained in the framework of the model adopted strongly depend on the polarization states of the particles involved. As a result, ultra-relativistic particles produced should occupy states with a preferred spin orientation, i.e.,…
We perform a combined fit to global neutrino oscillation data available as of fall 2016 in the scenario of three-neutrino oscillations and present updated allowed ranges of the six oscillation parameters. We discuss the differences arising between the consistent combination of the data samples from accelerator and reactor experiments compared to partial combinations. We quantify the confidence in the determination of the less precisely known parameters $θ_{23}$, $δ_\text{CP}$, and the neutrino mass ordering by performing a Monte Carlo study of the long baseline accelerator and reactor data. We…
We discuss bounds on the strength of the magnetic fields that could be buried in the radiative zone of the Sun. The field profiles and decay times are computed for all axisymmetric toroidal Ohmic decay eigenmodes with lifetimes exceeding the age of the Sun. The measurements of the solar oblateness yield a bound <~ 7 MG on the strength of the field. A comparable bound is expected to come from the analysis of the splitting of the solar oscillation frequencies. The theoretical analysis of the double diffusive instability also yields a similar bound. The oblateness measurements at their present le…
We discuss the measurement of polarized photons arising from radiative muon capture. The spectrum of left circularly polarized photons or equivalently the circular polarization of the photons emitted in radiative muon capture on hydrogen is quite sensitive to the strength of the induced pseudoscalar coupling constant $g_P$. A measurement of either of these quantities, although very difficult, might be sufficient to resolve the present puzzle resulting from the disagreement between the theoretical prediction for $g_P$ and the results of a recent experiment. This sensitivity results from the abs…
We present a detailed numerical study of lepton-pair production via the Drell-Yan process above the Z-peak at the LHC. Our results consistently combine next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections and next-to-leading order electroweak effects, and include the leading photon-initiated processes using a recent extraction of the photon distribution function. We focus on the effects of electroweak corrections and of photon-photon scattering contributions, and demonstrate which kinematic distributions exhibit sensitivity to these corrections. We show that a combination of measurements allows them …
The radiative decays of $b$-baryons facilitate the direct measurement of photon helicity in $b\to sγ$ transitions thus serving as an important test of physics beyond the Standard Model. In this paper we analyze the complete angular distribution of ground state $b$-baryon ($Λ_{b}^{0}$ and $Ξ_{b}^{-}$) radiative decays to multibody final states assuming an initially polarized $b$-baryon sample. Our sensitivity study suggests that the photon polarization asymmetry can be extracted to a good accuracy along with a simultaneous measurement of the initial $b$-baryon polarization. With higher yields o…
We study physics potential of Very Long Base-Line (VLBL) Neutrino-Oscillation Experiments with the High Intensity Proton Accelerator (HIPA), which will be completed by the year 2007 in Tokai-village, Japan, as a joint project of KEK and JAERI (Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute). The HIPA 50 GeV proton beam will deliver neutrino beams of a few GeV range with the intensity about two orders of magnitude higher than the present KEK beam for K2K experiment. As a sequel to the proposed HIPA-to-Super-Kamiokande experiment, we study impacts of experiments with a 100 kton-level detector and the ba…
We present a reanalysis of the data from Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) experiments E140 [R. C. Walker et al., Phys. Rev. D 49, 5671 (1994)] and NE11 [L. Andivahis et al., Phys. Rev. D 50, 5491 (1994)] on elastic electron-proton scattering. This work is motivated by recent progress in calculating the corresponding radiative corrections and by the apparent discrepancy between the Rosenbluth and polarization transfer measurements of the proton electromagnetic form factors. New, corrected values for the scattering cross sections are presented, as well as a new form factor fit in the $Q…
