Dirichlet-Neumann bracketing for a class of banded Toeplitz matrices

We consider boundary conditions of self-adjoint banded Toeplitz matrices. We ask if boundary conditions exist for banded self-adjoint Toeplitz matrices which satisfy operator inequalities of Dirichlet-Neumann bracketing type. For a special class of banded Toeplitz matrices including integer powers of the discrete Laplacian we find such boundary conditions. Moreover, for this class we give a lower bound on the spectral gap above the lowest eigenvalue.

Non-self-adjoint Toeplitz matrices whose principal submatrices have real spectrum

We introduce and investigate a class of complex semi-infinite banded Toeplitz matrices satisfying the condition that the spectra of their principal submatrices accumulate onto a real interval when the size of the submatrix grows to $\infty$. We prove that a banded Toeplitz matrix belongs to this class if and only if its symbol has real values on a Jordan curve located in $\mathbb{C}\setminus\{0\}$. Spectral asymptotics for a class of Toeplitz operators on the Bergman space

We consider a class of compact Toeplitz operators on the Bergman space on the unit disk. The symbols of operators in our class are assumed to have a sufficiently regular power-like behaviour near the boundary of the disk. We compute the asymptotics of singular values of this class of Toeplitz operators. We use this result to obtain the asymptotics of singular values for a class of banded matrices.
