In this review I am going to present biased by personal experience review of QCD. The review covers topics like Improved Transverse Momentum Dependent Factorization, $k_T$ dependent splitting functions, Transversal Momentum Dependent parton shower, non-Gaussian broadening of jet traversing quark gluon plasma.
I briefly review Non-Relativistic QCD and related effective theories, and discuss applications to heavy quarkonium decay, and production in electron-positron colliders.
We review recent developments in the QCD description of jet production and modification in reactions with heavy nuclei at relativistic energies. Our goal is to formulate a perturbative expansion in the presence of nuclear matter that allows to systematically improve the accuracy of the theoretical predictions. As an example, we present calculations of inclusive jet cross sections at RHIC, Z0/gamma*-tagged jet cross sections at the LHC, and jet shapes that include both next-to-leading order perturbative effects and the effects of the nuclear medium.
At the LHC all processes are QCD ones, whether "signal" or "background". In this review the frontiers of current QCD research are addressed, towards increased understanding, improved calculational precision, and role in potential future discoveries. Issues raised include the limits of perturbative QCD calculations and parton distribution usage, the nature of multiparton interactions, the impact of colour reconnection on physical observables, the need for progress on hadronization modelling, the improvements of parton showers and their combination with the matrix-element description, the use of…
Two parameters that have a strong influence on the finite temperature QCD transition, and play an important role in various physical scenarios are the quark density and the external magnetic field. The effect of these parameters on the thermal properties of QCD is discussed, and an overview of the latest lattice results is given.
This text contains a summary and personal perspective on the current status and challenges of jet quenching physics as portrayed by the presentations delivered at the 12th International Conference on Hard and Electromagnetic Probes of High-Energy Nuclear Collisions (Hard Probes 2024) which took place in September 2024 in Nagasaki, Japan.
We review the recent progress achieved in the theoretical investigation of Quantum Chromodynamics in the high temperature regime, with a focus on results achieved by lattice QCD simulations. The discussion covers the structure of the phase diagram and the properties of the strongly interacting medium at finite T and small baryon chemical potential.
I discuss recent results on lattice QCD calculations with the main emphasis on the thermodynamics of the crossover region, restoration of the chiral symmetry and fluctuations of conserved charges as indicator of deconfinement, that may also be used to determine the chemical freeze-out conditions in heavy-ion collision experiments.
Recent theory developments in electromagnetic radiation from relativistic heavy-ion collisions are reviewed. Electromagnetic observables can serve as a thermometer, a viscometer, and tomographic probes to the collision system. The current status of the "direct photon flow puzzle" is highlighted.
In recent years there has been much progress on the investigation of the QCD phase diagram with lattice QCD simulations. In this review I focus on the developments in the last two years. Especially the addition of external influences or new parameter ranges yield an increasing number of interesting results. I discuss the progress for small, finite densities from both analytical continuation and Complex Langevin simulations, for heavy quark bound states (quarkonium), the dependence on the quark masses (Columbia plot) and the influence of a magnetic field. Many of these conditions are relevant f…
The physics of the QCD phase diagram is discussed in view from heavy-ion collisions, compact astrophysical phenomena, lattice QCD and chiral effective models. We find that (T,mu_B) region probed in heavy-ion collisions and the black hole formation processes covers most of the critical point locations predicted in recent lattice QCD Monte-Carlo simulations and chiral effective models of QCD. We also discuss the consistency of the statistical model results and dynamical model description.
We present an overview of fractional analytic QCD beyond leading order, following the results recently obtained in Ref. [1]. We demonstrate four different representations, the details of their derivation, and show the applicability of analytic QCD to the analysis of the Bjorken sum rule.
In this paper we present an overview on recent progress in studies of QCD at finite temperature and densities within the functional renormalization group (fRG) approach. The fRG is a nonperturbative continuum field approach, in which quantum, thermal and density fluctuations are integrated in successively with the evolution of the renormalization group (RG) scale. The fRG results for the QCD phase structure and the location of the critical end point (CEP), the QCD equation of state (EoS), the magnetic EoS, baryon number fluctuations confronted with recent experimental measurements, various cri…
We present an overview of the use of IR-improvement of unintegrable singularities in the infrared regime via amplitude-based resummation in $\mathrm{QED} \times \mathrm{QCD}$ $\subset$ $\mathrm{SU}(2)_L \times \mathrm{U}_1 \times \mathrm{SU}(3)^c$. We work in the context of precision LHC/FCC physics. While illustrating such IR-improvement in specific examples, we discuss new results and new issues.
We overview progress in the development of general-purpose CTEQ PDFs. The preprint is based on four talks presented by H.-L. Lai and P. Nadolsky at the 17th International Workshop on Deep Inelastic Scattering and Related Subjects (DIS 2009).
Nuclear forces and hyperon forces are studied by lattice QCD. Simulations are performed with (almost) physical quark masses, $m_π\simeq 146$ MeV and $m_K \simeq 525$ MeV, where $N_f=2+1$ nonperturbatively ${\cal O}(a)$-improved Wilson quark action with stout smearing and Iwasaki gauge action are employed on the lattice of $(96a)^4 \simeq (8.1\mbox{fm})^4$ with $a^{-1} \simeq 2.3$ GeV. In this report, we give the overview of the theoretical framework and present the numerical results for two-nucleon forces ($S=0$) and two-$Ξ$ forces ($S=-4$). Central forces are studied in $^1S_0$ channel, and c…
In this note we summarize the results from a longer article on obtaining the QCD phase diagram as a function of the temperature and chemical potential at large Nc and large Nf in the weak and the strong coupling limits. The weak coupling phase diagram is obtained from the Polyakov line order parameter, and the quark number, calculated using 1-loop perturbation theory for QCD formulated on S^1 x S^3. The strong coupling phase diagram is obtained from the same observables calculated at leading order in the lattice strong coupling and hopping parameter expansions. We show that the matrix models i…

We give an overview of the light-front holographic approach to strongly coupled QCD, whereby a confining gauge theory, quantized on the light front, is mapped to a higher-dimensional anti de Sitter (AdS) space. The framework is guided by the AdS/CFT correspondence incorporating a gravitational background asymptotic to AdS space which encodes the salient properties of QCD, such as the ultraviolet conformal limit at the AdS boundary at $z \to 0$, as well as modifications of the geometry in the large $z$ infrared region to describe confinement and linear Regge behavior. There are two equivalent p…
A short overview of studies of strong coupling problems in hadron physics is presented. The Schwinger-Dyson/Bethe-Salpeter approach in the continuum allows the perturbative regime to be connected to the world of strong coupling that controls confinement and chiral dynamics that in turn determines the properties of light hadrons with just one scale, {\it viz.} $Λ_{QCD}$, and with the addition of current masses the properties of heavy flavours too.
In this talk, I present my personal view on the status of lattice QCD calculations. I emphasize the role played by the chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) in analyzing the lattice data of various physical quantities, including chiral condensate, topological susceptibility, and pion mass and decay constant. I then discuss on the status of determination of fundamental parameters and other quantities of phenomenological interest.
We present a brief overview of axion models associated to anomalous abelian (gauge) symmetries, discussing their main phenomenological features. Among these, the mechanism of vacuum misalignment introduced at the QCD and at the electroweak phase transitions, with the appearance of periodic potentials, responsible for the generation of a mass for these types of axions.
