The Method of Moments is a powerful framework to disentangle the relative contributions of amplitudes of a specific process to its various phase space regions. We apply this method to carry out a fully differential analysis of the Higgs decay channel $h \to 4\ell$ and constrain gauge-Higgs coupling modifications parametrised by dimension-six effective operators. We find that this analysis approach provides very good constraints and minimises degeneracies in the parameter space of the effective theory. By combining the decay $h \to 4\ell$ with Higgs-associated production processes, $Wh$ and $Zh$, we obtain the strongest reported bounds on anomalous gauge-Higgs couplings.
We study the production of Higgs bosons at high transverse momenta via vector-boson fusion (VBF) in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). We find that contributions from four independent operator combinations dominate in this limit. These are the same `high energy primaries' that control high energy diboson processes, including Higgs-strahlung. We perform detailed collider simulations for the diphoton decay mode of the Higgs boson as well as the three final states arising from the ditau channel. Using the quadratic growth of the SMEFT contributions relative to the Standard Model (…
We investigate contributions to the anomalous magnetic moments of charged leptons in the neutrino-extended Standard Model Effective Field Theory ($ν$SMEFT). We discuss how $ν$SMEFT operators can contribute to a lepton's magnetic moment at one- and two-loop order. We show that only one operator can account for existing electronic and muonic discrepancies, assuming new physics appears above $1$ TeV. In particular, we find that a right-handed charged current in combination with minimal sterile-active mixing can explain the discrepancy for sterile neutrino masses of $\mathcal O(100)$ GeV while avo…
We consider Higgs boson production through gluon fusion at large transverse momentum in hadronic collisions. We present the analytic expressions of the relevant one-loop QCD amplitudes including the effects of the complete set of dimension-six operators. The latter correspond to modifications of the top and bottom Yukawa couplings, to an effective point-like Higgs coupling to gluons and to the chromomagnetic operator of the top quark. The quantitative impact of the chromomagnetic operator is also studied. Our results confirm previous findings that the effect of the chromomagnetic operator at h…
We study nuclear electric dipole moments induced by $ΔF=1$ effective operators in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory. Such contributions arise through renormalization group evolutions and matching conditions at the electroweak symmetry breaking scale. We provide one-loop formulae for the matching conditions. We also discuss correlations of these effects with $ΔF=2$ observables such as $ε_K$ and $ΔM_{B_d}$.
We perform a model-independent analysis of the magnetic and electric dipole moments of the muon and electron. We give expressions for the dipole moments in terms of operator coefficients of the low-energy effective field theory (LEFT) and the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT). We use one-loop renormalization group improved perturbation theory, including the one-loop matching from SMEFT onto LEFT, and one-loop lepton matrix elements of the effective-theory operators. Semileptonic four-fermion operators involving light quarks give sizable non-perturbative contributions to the dipole …
In this paper we present the complete expressions of the lepton and neutron electric dipole moments (EDMs) in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT), up to 1-loop and dimension-6 level and including both RG running contributions and finite corrections. The latter play a fundamental role in the cases of operators that do not renormalize the dipoles, but there are also classes of operators for which they provide an important fraction, $10-20\%$, of the total 1-loop contribution, if the new physics scale is around $Λ=5$ TeV. We present the full set of bounds on each individual Wilson c…
The study of Higgs boson production at large transverse momentum is one of the new frontiers for the LHC Higgs physics programme. This paper considers boosted Higgs production in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). We focus on the gluon fusion and $t{\bar t}H$ production processes and study the effects of three dimension-6 operators: the top Yukawa operator, the gluon-Higgs effective coupling and the chromomagnetic dipole operator of the top quark. We perform a detailed study of the sensitivity of current and future LHC data to the corresponding Wilson coefficients, consistently…
An Effective Field Theory (EFT) analysis of the magnetic moment of the muon is discussed. The expression for the dipole moment is given in terms of operator coefficients of the low-energy effective field theory (LEFT) and the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT), where one-loop renormalization group improved perturbation theory, the one-loop matching from SMEFT onto LEFT as well as one-loop lepton matrix elements of the effective-theory operators were taken into account. Interestingly only a very limited set of the SMEFT operators is able to explain the current deviation of the magnet…

We obtain SMEFT bounds using an approach that utilises the complete multi-dimensional differential information of a process. This approach is based on the fact that at a given EFT order, the full angular distribution in the most important electroweak processes can be expressed as a sum of a fixed number of basis functions. The coefficients of these basis functions - the so-called angular moments - and their energy dependance, thus form an ideal set of experimental observables that encapsulates the complete multi-dimensional differential information of the process. This approach is generic and …
We consider the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon $a_μ$, which shows a significant deviation from the Standard Model expectation given the recent measurements at Fermilab and BNL. We focus on Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) with the aim to identify avenues for the upcoming LHC runs and future experiments such as MUonE. To this end, we include radiative effects to $a_μ$ in SMEFT to connect the muon anomaly to potentially interesting searches at the LHC, specifically Higgs decays into muon pairs and such decays with resolved photons. Our investigation shows that similar to resu…
When looking for heavy ($\mathcal{O}$(few TeV)) New Physics, the most efficient way to benefit from both high and low-energy measurements simultaneously is the use of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). In this talk I highlight the importance of semileptonic $τ$ decays in complementing, in this respect, the traditional low-energy precision observables and high-energy measurements. This is yet another reason for considering hadronic tau decays as golden channels at Belle-II beyond the unquestionable interest of the CP violation anomaly in $τ\to K_Sπν_τ$ decays, that I also discus…
In our preceeding reports, we have pointed out that a unified description of weak decays accompanying neutrinos and the oscillation process is obtained on the basis of the expectation values of flavor-neutrino numbers with respect to the neutrino-source hadron state. In the present report, we investigate the effect on the expectation values due to the deviation from Fermi's golden relation, and give concrete features of these deviations in the case of $π^+$ and $K^+$-decays under the simple situation with the $3$-momentum $\vec{p_A}=0$ for $A=π^+$, $K^+$. %numerical results under simple situat…
CP-violating contributions to Higgs--fermion couplings are absent in the standard model of particle physics (SM), but are motivated by models of electroweak baryogenesis. Here, we employ the framework of the SM effective theory (SMEFT) to parameterise deviations from SM Yukawa couplings. We present the leading contributions of the relevant operators to the fermionic electric dipole moments (EDMs). We obtain constraints on the SMEFT Wilson coefficients from the combination of LHC data and experimental bounds on the electron, neutron, and mercury EDMs, and for the first time, we perform a combin…
We derive bounds on couplings in the standard model effective field theory (SMEFT) as a consequence of causality and the analytic structure of scattering amplitudes. In the SMEFT, there are 64 independent operators at mass dimension eight that are quartic in bosons (either Higgs or gauge fields) and that contain four derivatives and/or field strengths, including both CP-conserving and CP-violating operators. Using analytic dispersion relation arguments for two-to-two bosonic scattering amplitudes, we derive 27 independent bounds on the sign or magnitude of the couplings. We show that these bou…
We explore the implications of the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT) with dimension-six terms involving the Higgs boson and third-generation fermion fields on the rate of Higgs boson production and decay into fermions, on the electric dipole moments (EDMs) of the electron, and on the baryon asymmetry of the Universe. We study the consequences of allowing these additional terms for each flavor separately and for combinations of two flavors. We find that a complex $τ$ Yukawa coupling can account for the observed baryon asymmetry $Y_B^{\rm obs}$ within current LHC and EDM bounds. A co…
We constrain $C\!P$-violating charged and neutral anomalous triple gauge couplings using LHC measurements and projections of diboson and VBF $Vjj$ production, both with subsequent leptonic decays. For triple gauge couplings involving $W$ bosons we analyse asymmetries and interpret our results in the SMEFT at dimension-six. For neutral triple gauge couplings, which are dominantly constrained by high transverse-momentum bins, we present the resulting bounds in terms of a general anomalous couplings framework.
The recent measurement of the $W$ boson mass by the CDF collaboration adds an anomaly to the long-standing discrepancy in the muon anomalous magnetic moment, $Δa_μ$. Although type-X in the two-Higgs-doublet model provides an attractive solution to $Δa_μ$ through a light pseudoscalar $A$, the model confronts the exotic Higgs decays of $h\to AA$ and the lepton flavor universality data in the $τ$ and $Z$ decays. To save the model, we propose that the light pseudoscalar be Higgs-phobic. Through the random scanning over the entire parameter space, we perform a comparative study of the Higgs-phobic …
The recent Fermilab measurement of the muon anomalous magnetic moment yields $4.2 σ$ deviations from the SM prediction when combined with the BNL E821 experiment results. In the Type-X two Higgs doublet model, we study the consequence of imposing the observed muon $g-2$, along with the constraints from theoretical stabilities, electroweak oblique parameters, Higgs precision data, and direct searches. For a comprehensive study, we scan the whole parameter space in two scenarios, the normal scenario where $h_{\rm SM} = h$ and the inverted scenario where $h_{\rm SM}=H$, where $h$ ($H$) is the lig…
