We compare the pole structure of the electronic Green's function obtained by Cluster Dynamical Mean Field Theory to the results from the fractionalized Pair Density Wave idea. In the superconducting phase, we can consider the system in a state with coexistence of Superconducting and Charge order. Writing the Green's function in a way analogous to the previously proposed "hidden-fermions" model from S. Sakai et al (2016) leads to a similar pole structure for the self-energy. The fractionalization of the Pair Density Wave order also describes the pseudogap phase as a superposition of superconducting and charge order fluctuations. Considering a phenomenological lifetime for the particle-particle and particle-hole pairs leads to an electronic spectral function that matches the numerical results.
The interplay between magnetism and superconductivity in the newly discovered heavy-fermion superconductor CePt$_3$Si has been investigated using the zero-field $μ$SR technique. The $μ$SR data indicate that the whole muon ensemble senses spontaneous internal fields in the magnetic phase, demonstrating that magnetism occurs in the whole sample volume. This points to a microscopic coexistence between magnetism and heavy-fermion superconductivity.
We analyze the competition of magnetism and superconductivity in the two-dimensional Hubbard model with a moderate interaction strength, including the possibility of incommensurate spiral magnetic order. Using an unbiased renormalization group approach, we compute magnetic and superconducting order parameters in the ground state. In addition to previously established regions of Neel order coexisting with d-wave superconductivity, the calculations reveal further coexistence regions where superconductivity is accompanied by incommensurate magnetic order.
We discuss the possibility of coexistence of spin density wave (antiferromagnetism) and triplet superconductivity as a particular example of a broad class of systems where the interplay of magnetism and superconductivity is important. We focus on the case of quasi-one-dimensional metals, where it is kown that antiferromagnetism is in close proximity to triplet superconductivity in the pressure versus temperature phase diagram. Over a range of pressures, we propose an intermediate non-uniform phase consisting of antiferromagnetic and triplet superconducting orders. In the coexistence region, we…

We present magnetotransport evidence for antiferromagnetism in films of the electron-doped cuprates Pr$_{2-x}$Ce$_x$CuO$_4$. Our results show clear signature of static antiferromagnetism up to optimal doping x=0.15, with a quantum phase transition close to x=0.16, and a coexistence of static antiferromagnetism and superconductivity for 0.12$\le$x$\le$0.15.

In this paper we address the question of coexistence of superconductivity and ferromagnetism in the high temperature superconductor RuSr$_2$GdCu$_2$O$_{8-δ}$. Using a field theoretical approach we study a one-fermion effective model of a ferromagnetic superconductor in which the quasiparticles responsible for the ferromagnetism form the Cooper pairs as well. We discuss the physical features which are different in this model and the standard BCS model and consider their experimental consequences.
On the basis of the periodic Anderson model the microscopic Ginzburg-Landau equations for heavy-fermion superconductors in the coexistence phase of superconductivity and antiferromagnetism have been derived. The obtained expressions are valid in the vicinity of quantum critical point of heavy-fermion superconductors when the onset temperatures of antiferromagnetism and superconductivity are sufficiently close to each other. It is shown that the formation of antiferromagnetic ordering causes a decrease of the critical temperature of superconducting transition and order parameter in the phase of…
SrPt2As2 is a novel arsenide superconductor, which crystallizes in the CaBe2Ge2-type structure as a different polymorphic form of the ThCr2Si2-type structure. SrPt2As2 exhibits a charge-density-wave (CDW) ordering at about 470 K and enters into a superconducting state at Tc = 5.2 K. The coexistence of superconductivity and CDW refers to Peierls instability with a moderately strong electron-phonon interaction. Thus SrPt2As2 can be viewed as a nonmagnetic analog of iron-based superconductors, such as doped BaFe2As2, in which superconductivity emerges in close proximity to spin-density-wave order…
On the basis of a two-dimensional t-t' Hubbard model in ferromagnetic and paramagnetic states, the triplet superconducting mechanism is investigated by the third-order perturbation theory with respect to the on-site Coulomb interaction U. In general, the superconducting state is more stable in the paramagnetic state than in the ferromagnetic state. As a special case, the dominant ferromagnetic superconductivity is obtained by the electron-electron correlation between the electronlike majority and holelike minority bands. Furthermore, it is pointed out that in some cases the two bands play an e…
A comprehensive theory is developed that describes the coexistence of p-wave, spin-triplet superconductivity and itinerant ferromagnetism. It is shown how to use field-theoretic techniques to derive both conventional strong-coupling theory, and analogous gap equations for superconductivity induced by magnetic fluctuations. It is then shown and discussed in detail that the magnetic fluctuations are generically stronger on the ferromagnetic side of the magnetic phase boundary, which substantially enhances the superconducting critical temperature in the ferromagnetic phase over that in the parama…
The heavy fermion Ce(Rh,Ir)In5 system exhibits properties that range from an incommensurate antiferromagnet on the Rh-rich end to an exotic superconductor on the Ir-rich end of the phase diagram. At intermediate composition where antiferromagnetism coexists with superconductivity, two types of magnetic order are observed: the incommensurate one of CeRhIn5 and a new, commensurate antiferromagnetism that orders separately. The coexistence of f-electron superconductivity with two distinct f-electron magnetic orders is unique among unconventional superconductors, adding a new variety to the usual …
We performed zero and transverse field MuSR experiments on a large number of YBa2Cu3O6+x samples. We detect coexistence of antiferro-type (AF) short range magnetism with superconductivity below T_f~10 K in compositions 0.37<x<0.39. Most muons experience local AF fields, even when SQUID detects a full SC volume fraction, which points to a local minimal interference organization of short AF stripes embedded in the superconductor. A detailed phase diagram is produced and the consequences of the minimal interference are discussed.
Within the framework of the QED3 theory of cuprates it is argued that bulk antiferromagnetic (AF) order can coexist with d-wave superconductivity in the underdoped region, in agreement with recent experiments. The AF order arises from the phase fluctuating d-wave superconductor via the mechanism of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking, provided that fluctuations are sufficiently strong. The phase diagram for this coexistence is mapped out by means of analytical and numerical solutions of the underlying Dyson-Schwinger equation in the large N limit.
In one dimension the coupling of electrons to phonons leads to a transition from a metallic to a Peierls distorted insulated state if the coupling exceeds a critical value. On the other hand, in two dimensions the electron-phonon interaction may also lead to the formation of Cooper pairs. This competition of superconductivity and charge order (in conjunction with a lattice distortion) is studied in this letter by means of the projector-based renormalization method (PRM). Increasing the electron-phonon interaction, we find a crossover behavior between a purely superconducting state and a charge…
We consider the coexistence of superconductivity(SC) and spin-density wave(SDW). The SC is presumed to be of $d_{x^2-y^2}+id_{xy} (d_1 + i d_2) $ type whereas the SDW order parameter is of $BCS$/$d_{x y} $ symmetry. The Hamiltonian having such a structure is shown to have topological coexistence phases in addition to the conventional one. It is shown that the amplitudes of both the order parameters determine the nature of topological phases. A phase diagram characterizing different topological phases with their Chern numbers are obtained. The experimental realization of such topological phases…
We have performed $^{75}$As and $^{23}$Na nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements on a single crystal of NaFe$_{0.9835}$Co$_{0.0165}$As and found microscopic coexistence of superconductivity with a two-component spin density wave (SDW). Using $^{23}$Na NMR we measured the spatial distribution of local magnetic fields. The SDW was found to be incommensurate with a major component having magnetic moment ($\sim0.2\,μ_B$/Fe) and a smaller component with magnetic moment ($\sim0.02\,μ_B$/Fe). Spin lattice relaxation experiments reveal that this coexistence occurs at a microscopic level.
A microscopic mean-field theory of the phase coexistence between ferromagnetism and superconductivity in the weakly ferromagnetic itinerant electron system is constructed, while incorporating a realistic mechanism for superconducting pairing due to the exchange of critical spin fluctuations. The self-consistent solution of the resulting equations determines the superconducting transition temperature which is shown to depend strongly on the exchange splitting. The effect of phase crossover from isotropic (Heisenberg-like) to uniaxial (Ising-like) spin fluctuations near the quantum phase transit…
We discuss the coexistence of antiferromagnetism and d-wave superconductivity within the so-called statistically-consistent Gutzwiller approximation (SGA) applied to the t-J-U model. In this approach, the averages calculated in a self-consistent manner coincide with those determined variationally. Such consistency is not guaranteed within the standard renormalized mean field theory. With the help of SGA, we show that for the typical value J/|t| = 1/3, coexistence of antiferromagnetism (AF) and superconductivity (SC) appears only for U/|t| > 10.6 and in a very narrow range of doping (δ< 0.006) …
The possibility of coexistence of superconductivity (SC) and antiferromagnetic long range order (AFLRO) of the two-dimensional extended $t-J$ model in the very underdoped region is studied by the variational Monte-Carlo (VMC) method. In addition to using previously studied wave functions, a recently proposed new wave function generated from the half-filled Mott insulator is used. For hole-doped systems, the phase boundary between AFLRO and $d-$wave SC for the physical parameters, $J/t=0.3$, $t'/t=-0.3$ and $t''/t=0.2$, is located near hole density $δ_c = 0.06$, and there is {\it no} coexistenc…
We report simultaneous NMR and electrical transport experiments in the pressure range near the boundary of the antiferromagnetic spin density wave (SDW) insulator and the metal-lic/superconducting (SC) phase in (TMTSF)2PF6. Measurements indicate a tricritical point separat-ing a line of second order SDW/metal transitions from a line of first order SDW/metal(SC) transi-tions with coexistence of macroscopic regions of SDW and metal(SC) order, with little mutual in-teraction but strong hysteretic effects. NMR results quantify the fraction of each phase.
Superconductivity in the iron pnictides develops near antiferromagnetism, and the antiferromagnetic (AF) phase appears to overlap with the superconducting phase in some materials such as BaFe2-xTxAs2 (where T = Co or Ni). Here we use neutron scattering to demonstrate that genuine long-range AF order and superconductivity do not coexist in BaFe2-xNixAs2 near optimal superconductivity. In addition, we find a first-order-like AF to superconductivity phase transition with no evidence for a magnetic quantum critical point. Instead, the data reveal that incommensurate short-range AF order coexists a…
We discuss the fixed-point Hamiltonian and the spectrum of excitations of a quasi-bidimensional electronic system supporting simultaneously antiferromamagnetic ordering and superconductivity. The coexistence of these two order parameters in a single phase is possible because the magnetic order is linked to the formation of a spin density wave, and its order parameter is not associated to a spectral gap but to an energy shift of the paramagnetic bands. This peculiarity entails several distinct features in the phase diagram and the spectral properties of the model, which may have been observed i…
We use c-axis resistivity and magnetoresistance measurements to study the interplay between antiferromagnetic (AF) and superconducting (SC) ordering in underdoped RBa_2Cu_3O_{6+x} (R = Lu, Y) single crystals. Both orders are found to emerge from an anisotropic 3D metallic state, upon which antiferromagnetism opposes superconductivity by driving the doped holes towards localization. Despite the competition, the superconductivity sets in before the AF order is completely destroyed and coexists with latter in a certain range of hole doping. We find also that strong magnetic fields affect the AF-S…
We argue that a single-band itinerant electron model with short-range interactions, proposed by Karchev et al. (cond-mat/9911489) and investigated further by Jackiewicz et al. (cond-mat/0302449), cannot describe the coexistence of superconducting and ferromagnetic order.
We use the Hubbard type model to describe the coexistence between superconductivity (SC) and ferromagnetism (F). Our Hamiltonian contains single-site and two-site interactions. All inter-site interactions will have included the inter-site kinetic correlation: $<c_{iσ}^{+}c_{jσ}>$, within the Hartree-Fock approximation. To obtain the SC transition temperature $T_{SC}$ and Curie temperature $T_{C}$ we use the Green's functions method. The numerical results show that the singlet SC is eliminated by F, but the triplet SC is either enhanced or depleted by F, depending on the carrier concentration a…
We present electron-tunneling spectroscopy of slightly overdoped Bi2212 single crystals at low temperature using a break-junction technique. Below Tc, we observe, at least, two different superconducting gaps. We show that (i) the largest superconducting gap occurs due to pairing of spinons; (ii) the second superconducting gap has the d-wave symmetry; (iii) the d-wave gap is smaller than the spinon gap, however, predominant and occurs due to pairing of fermionic excitations carrying charge; (iv) the spinon gap has either a s-wave or (s+d) mixed symmetry with the maximum located in (p, p) direct…
EuBiS$_{2}$F is a self-doped superconductor due to the mixed valence of Eu. Here we report that, with the Ce substitution for Eu by 50 at.\%, the material exhibits ferromagnetic ordering at 8 K for the Ce-4$f$ moment, superconductivity at 2.2 K in the BiS$_2$ layers, and possibly antiferromagnetic ordering at 2.1 K for the Eu-4$f$ spins. The Eu valence is essentially divalent with the Ce incorporation. We tentatively interpret the coexistence of ferromagnetism and superconductivity by considering different Bi-6$p$ orbitals that are responsible for superconductivity itself and for mediating the…
Using various transport and magnetotransport probes we study the coexistence of spin-density wave and superconductor states in (TMTSF)2ClO4 at various degrees of ClO4 anions ordering. In the two-phase complex state when both superconductivity and spin-density wave are observed in transport, we find prehistory effects, enhancement of the superconducting critical field, and strong spatial anisotropy of the superconducting state. These features are inconsistent with the conventional model of structural inhomogeneities produced by anion ordering transition. We reveal instead that superconductor an…
The two-dimensional t-J model in a staggered field is studied by exact diagonalization of small clusters. For the low-hole-density region and a realistic value of J/t, it is found that the presence of a staggered field strengthens the attraction between two holes. With increasing field, the d_{x^2-y^2}-wave superconducting correlations are enhanced while the extended-s-wave ones hardly change. This implies that coexistence of the d_{x^2-y^2}-wave superconducting order and the commensurate antiferromagnetic order occurs in a staggered field.
Motivated by the energetic advantage of achieving coherent enhancement of effective spin-dependent interactions through approximate nesting, we propose specific forms of spin ordering, whose form varies over the Fermi surface, for the cuprate superconductors. Competing "spin-orbit" orderings involving order parameters in spatial $d_{x^2-y^2}$ and $d_{xy}$ waves at commensurate and incommensurate wavevectors, phase separated in momentum space, support behavior suggestive of observed phenomena. The $d_{xy}$ spin-orbit fluctuation induces an effective interaction that favors $d_{x^2-y^2}$-wave pa…
We report on detailed ac calorimetry measurements under high pressure and magnetic field of CeRhIn5. Under hydrostatic pressure the antiferromagnetic order vanishes near p_c*=2 GPa due to a first order transition. Superconductivity is found for pressures above 1.5 GPa inside the magnetic ordered phase. However, the superconductivity differ from the pure homogeneous superconducting ground state above 2 GPa. The application of an external magnetic field H || ab induces a transition inside the superconducting state above pc* which is strongly related to the re-entrance of the antiferromagnetism w…
75As NMR and susceptiblity were measured in a Ba(Fe1-xCox)2As2 single crystal for x=6%. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectra and relaxation rates allow to show that all Fe sites experience an incommensurate magnetic ordering below T=31K. Comparison with undoped compound allows to estimate a typical moment of 0.05 muB. Anisotropy of the NMR widths can be interpreted using a model of incommensurability with a wavevector (1/2-eps,0,l) with eps of the order of 0.04. Below TC=21.8K, a full volume superconductivity develops as shown by susceptibility and relaxation rate, and magnetic order remai…
We use $^{75}$As nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to investigate the local electronic properties of Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Ru$_{x}$)$_2$As$_2$ ($x =$ 0.23). We find two phase transitions, to antiferromagnetism at $T_N \approx$ 60 K and to superconductivity at $T_C \approx$ 15 K. Below $T_N$, our data show that the system is fully magnetic, with a commensurate antiferromagnetic structure and a moment of 0.4 $μ_B$/Fe. The spin-lattice relaxation rate $1/^{75}T_1$ is large in the magnetic state, indicating a high density of itinerant electrons induced by Ru doping. On cooling below $T_C$, $1/^{75}T_1$ on t…
Based on a hybrid interlayer coupling mechanism, we study the coexistence of superconductivity (SC) and antiferromagnetism (AFM) in trilayer cuprates. By introducing an interlayer magnetic scattering term, we solve the multilayer $t{-}J$ model with Josephson coupling under the framework of Gutzwiller projection. We show that both the SC and AFM orders in the multilayered system are enhanced and the range of AFM order is extended. The layer configuration of d-wave pairing gap and AFM order further plays an essential role in determining the interlayer magnetic and superconducting coupling phase …
We report a thermodynamic and transport study of the phase diagram of CeRh1-xIrxIn5. Superconductivity is observed over a broad range of doping, 0.3 < x < 1, including a substantial range of concentration (0.3 < x <0.6) over which it coexists with magnetic order (which is observed for 0 < x < 0.6). The anomalous transition to zero resistance that is observed in CeIrIn5 is robust against Rh substitution. In fact, the observed bulk Tc in CeRh0.5Ir0.5In5 is more than double that of CeIrIn5, whereas the zero-resistance transition temperature is relatively unchanged for 0.5 < x < 1.
We argue that superconductivity in the coexistence region with spin-density-wave (SDW) order in weakly doped Fe-pnictides differs qualitatively from the ordinary $s^{+-}$ state outside the coexistence region, as it develops an additional gap component which is a mixture of intra-pocket singlet ($s^{++}$) and inter-pocket spin-triplet pairings (the $t-$state). The coupling constant for the $t-$channel is proportional to the SDW order and involves interactions that do not contribute to superconductivity outside of the SDW region. We argue that the $s^{+-}$ and $t-$type superconducting orders coe…
We argue the emergence of nodal excitations due to the coupling with static antiferromagnetic order in fully-gapped superconducting states in both cases with and without inversion symmetry. This line node structure is not accompanied with the sign change of the superconducting gap, in contrast to usual unconventional Cooper pairs with higher angular momenta. In the case without inversion symmetry, the stability of the nodal excitations crucially depends on the direction of the antiferromagnetic staggered magnetic moment. A possible realization of this phenomenon in CePt$_3$Si is discussed.
The electron paramagnetic resonance study for an organic superconductor $β''$-(BEDT-TTF)$_{4}$[(H$_3$O)Ga(C$_2$O$_4$)$_3$]$\cdot$C$_6$H$_5$NO$_2$ reveals that superconductivity coexists uniformly with the charge ordered state in one material. In the charge ordered state, the interplane spin exchange is gapped, while the in-plane conductivity is not significantly modified. This anisotropic behavior is explained by the exotic charge ordered state, in which molecular-site selective carrier localization coexists with conducting carriers on other molecules. Relationship between superconductivity an…
The triplet superconductivity in $UGe_2$ and $URhGe$ coexists with itinerant ferromagnetism such that in the pressure-temperature phase diagram the whole region occupied by the superconducting state is situated inside a more vast ferromagnetic region. In the same family metal UCoGe the pressure dependent critical lines T_{Curie}(P) and T_{sc}(P) of the ferromagnet and the superconducting phase transitions intersect each other. The two-band multidomain superconducting ferromagnet state arises at temperatures below both of these lines. Here I describe the symmetry and the order parameters of the…
We report a study on the interplay between antiferromagnetism (AFM) and superconductivity (SC) in a heavy-fermion compound CeRhIn$_5$ under pressure $P=1.75$ GPa. The onset of the magnetic order is evidenced from a clear split of $^{115}$In-NQR spectrum due to the spontaneous internal field below the Néel temperature $T_N=2.5$ K. Simultaneously, bulk SC below $T_c=2.0$ K is demonstrated by the observation of the Meissner diamagnetism signal whose size is the same as in the exclusively superconducting phase. These results indicate that the AFM coexists homogeneously with the SC at a microscopic…
We present 75As nuclear magnetic resonance data from measurements of a series of Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$)$_2$As$_2$ crystals with $0.00 \leq x \leq 0.075$ that reveals the coexistence of frozen antiferromagnetic domains and superconductivity for $0.060 \leq x \leq 0.071$. Although bulk probes reveal no long range antiferromagnetic order beyond $x = 0.06$, we find that the local spin dynamics reveal no qualitative change across this transition. The characteristic domain sizes vary by more than an order of magnitude, reaching a maximum variation at $x = 0.06$. This inhomogeneous glassy dynamics may …
The nature of spin-density wave and its relation with superconductivity are crucial issues in the newly discovered Fe-based high temperature superconductors. Particularly it is unclear whether the superconducting phase and spin density wave (SDW) are truly exclusive from each other as suggested by certain experiments. With angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we here report exchange splittings of the band structures in Sr1-xKxFe2As2 (x=0,0.1,0.2), and the non-rigid-band behaviors of the splitting. Our data on single crystalline superconducting samples unambiguously prove that SDW and sup…
Unambiguous evidence for the microscopic coexistence of ferromagnetism and superconductivity in UCoGe ($T_{\rm Curie} \sim 2.5$ K and $T_{\rm SC}$ $\sim$ 0.6 K) is reported from $^{59}$Co nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR). The $^{59}$Co-NQR signal below 1 K indicates ferromagnetism throughout the sample volume, while nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate $1/T_1$ in the ferromagnetic (FM) phase decreases below $T_{\rm SC}$ due to the opening of the superconducting(SC) gap. The SC state was found to be inhomogeneous, suggestive of a self-induced vortex state, potentially realizable in a FM super…
We report on the basis of Cu-NQR measurements that superconductivity (SC) and antiferromagnetism (AF) coexist on a microscopic level in CeCu_{2}(Si_{1-x}Ge_{x})_{2}, once a tiny amount of 1%Ge (x = 0.01) is substituted for Si. This coexistence arises because Ge substitution expands the unit-cell volume in nearly homogeneous CeCu2Si2 where the SC coexists with slowly fluctuating magnetic waves. We propose that the underlying exotic phases of SC and AF in either nearly homogeneous or slightly Ge substituted CeCu2Si2 are accountable based on the SO(5) theory that unifies the SC and AF. We suggest…
In usual superconductivity (SC), the pairs have zero total momentum irrespective of their symmetry. Staggered SC would involve, instead, pairs with a finite commensurate total momentum, but such exotic states have never been proven to be realized in nature. Here we study for the first time the influence of particle-hole asymmetry on the competition of staggered SC with Charge Density Waves (CDW) in a ferromagnetic medium. We obtain unprecedented situations in which CDW and staggered SC coexist. We also obtain cases of a SC dome near the collapse of a CDW state as well as cascades of transition…
The optical properties of LiFeAs with $T_c \simeq$ 18 K have been determined in the normal and superconducting states. The superposition of two Drude components yields a good description of the low-frequency optical response in the normal state. Below $T_c$, the optical conductivity reveals two isotropic superconducting gaps with $Δ_{1} \simeq 2.9$ $\pm$ 0.2 meV and $Δ_{2} \simeq 5.5$ $\pm$ 0.4 meV. A comparison between the superconducting-state Mattis-Bardeen and the normal-state Drude components, in combination with a spectral weight analysis, indicates that the spectral weight associated wi…

The Ru doping effect on the Dirac cone states is investigated in iron pnictide superconductors Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Ru$_x$As)$_2$ using the transverse magnetoresistance (MR) measurements as a function of temperature. The linear development of MR against magnetic field $B$ is observed for $x$ = 0 - 0.244 at low temperatures below the antiferromagnetic transition. The $B$-linear MR is interpreted in terms of the quantum limit of the Dirac cone states by using the model proposed by Abrikosov. An intriguing evidence is shown that the Dirac cone state persists on the electronic phase diagram where the anti…
Materials with exceptional magnetism and superconductivity usually conceive emergent physical phenomena. Here, we investigate the physical properties of the (Eu,La)FeAs2 system with double magnetic sublattices. The parent EuFeAs2 shows anisotropy-associated magnetic behaviors, such as Eu-related moment canting and exchange bias. Through La doping, the magnetic anisotropy is enhanced with ferromagnetism of Eu2+ realized in the overdoped region, and a special exchange bias of the superposed ferromagnetic/superconducting loop revealed in Eu0.8La0.2FeAs2. Meanwhile, the Fe-related antiferromagneti…
Ferromagnetism is usually considered to be incompatible with conventional superconductivity, as it destroys the singlet correlations responsible for the pairing interaction. Superconductivity and ferromagnetism are known to coexist in only a few bulk rare-earth materials. Here we report evidence for their coexistence in a two-dimensional system: the interface between two bulk insulators, LaAlO$_3$ (LAO) and SrTiO$_3$ (STO), a system that has been studied intensively recently. Magnetoresistance, Hall and electric-field dependence measurements suggest that there are two distinct bands of charge …
Thin films of the optimally electron-doped $T'$-phase superconductor La$_{1.89}$Ce$_{0.11}$CuO$_{4\pm \d}$ are investigated by dilute Co doping, formed as La$_{1.89}$Ce$_{0.11}$(Cu$_{1-x}$Co$_{x}$)O$_{4\pm\d}$ (LCCCO) with $x$ = 0.01 -- 0.05. The following results are obtained for the first time: for the whole dilute Co doping range, LCCCO thin films show long-range ferromagnetic ordering at the temperature range from 5 K to 300 K, which is likely due to the RKKY interaction; in the very dilute Co doping, $x$ = 0.01 and 0.02, the superconductivity is maitained, the system shows the coexistence…
Motivated by recent experimental study of antiferromagnetic property of honeycomb compound In$_{3}$Cu$_{2}$VO$_{9}$ [Yan \textit{et al.}, PRB \textbf{85}, 085102 (2012)], we explore possible superconductivity and its coexistence with antiferromagnetism. We use the t-t$^\prime$-J model on the honeycomb lattice as our starting point and employ the slave-boson mean-field theory. In the antiferromagnetic normal state, the characteristic doping evolution of Fermi surface shows that only one effective singe band is active, which suggests that the potential pairing symmetry is the time-reversal symme…
In contrast to conventional superconducting (SC) materials, superconductivity in high-temperature superconductors (HTCs) usually emerges in the presence of other fluctuating orders with similar or higher energy scales, thus instigating debates over their relevance for the SC pairing mechanism. In iron-based superconductors (IBSCs), local orbital fluctuations have been proposed to be directly responsible for the structural phase transition and closely related to the observed giant magnetic anisotropy and electronic nematicity. However, whether superconductivity can emerge from, or even coexist …
The experimental results for ZrZn$_{2}$, URhGe, and in some pressure ranges also for UGe$_{2}$, have shown that the ferromagnetic superconductors are weak itinerant ferromagnets. Guided by these results we describe the phenomenon of coexistence between equal spin triplet pairing superconductivity (SC) and ferromagnetism (F) using the extended Stoner model, which includes in Hamiltonian the on-site Coulomb interaction, $U$, and occupation dependent hopping integral. We use Hartree-Fock (H-F) approximation and the Green functions technique. In the H-F approximation the on-site Coulomb interactio…
We discuss the $t$-$J$-$U$ model in the mean-field approximation. The role of spin-exchange coupling $J$ and the second nearest hopping $t'$ are examined in the context of the coexistence of superconductivity (SC) and antiferromagnetism (AF). Stability of the phases is studied with respect to temperature. The coexistence region exists for the sufficiently large Coulomb repulsion ($U>U_{cr}$), and in the vicinity of the half-filled band (hole doping $δ< δ_{cr}$). The critical hole doping is relatively small ($δ_{cr} \approx 0.006$ for $J/|t| = 1/3$) and linear with respect to $J$. The decrease …
We have investigated the magnetic and the superconducting properties of the hybrid ruthenate-cuprate compound RuSr_{2}GdCu_{2}O_{8} by means of zero-field muon spin rotation- (ZF-$μ$SR) and DC magnetization measurements. The DC-magnetisation data establish that this material exhibits ferromagnetic order of the Ru-moments ($μ(Ru) \approx 1 μ_{B}$) below T_{Curie} = 133 K and becomes superconducting at a much lower temperature T_c = 16 K. The ZF-$μ$SR experiments indicate that the ferromagnetic phase is homogeneous on a microscopic scale and accounts for most of the sample volume. They also sugg…
