For an operator generating a group on $L^p$ spaces transference results give bounds on the Phillips functional calculus also known as spectral multiplier estimates. In this paper we consider specific group generators which are abstraction of first order differential operators and prove similar spectral multiplier estimates assuming only that the group is bounded on $L^2$ rather than $L^p$. We also prove an R-bounded Hörmander calculus result by assuming an abstract Sobolev embedding property and show that the square of a perturbed Hodge-Dirac operator has such calculus.
The extension of Hille-Phillips functional calculus of semigroup generators which leads to unbounded operators is considered. Connections of this calculus to Bochner-Phillips functional calculus are indicated. In particular, the multiplication rule and the composition rule are proved. Several examples are given.

The functional calculus of semigroup generators, based on the class of Bernstein functions in several variables is developed, the condition for holomorphy of semigroups, generated by operators which arisen in the calculus is given, and in the one-dimensional case the moment inequality for such operators is proved.
The multidimensional functional calculus of semigroup generators, based on the class of Bernstein functions in several variables is developed, the spectral mapping theorems for joint spectra have been stated, the condition for holomorphy of semigroups, generated by operators which arises in the calculus is given, and the moment inequality for such operators is proved.
The dependence of singularities of scattering matrices of the abstract wave equation on the choice of asymptotically equivalent outgoing/incoming subspaces is studied. The obtained results are applied to the radial wave equation with nonlocal potential. In the latter case, the concept of associated inner function introduced in the Douglas-Shapiro-Shields work \cite{DSS} plays an essential role.
We construct a new bounded functional calculus for the generators of bounded semigroups on Hilbert spaces and generators of bounded holomorphic semigroups on Banach spaces. The calculus is a natural (and strict) extension of the classical Hille-Phillips functional calculus, and it is compatible with the other well-known functional calculi. It satisfies the standard properties of functional calculi, provides a unified and direct approach to a number of norm-estimates in the literature, and allows improvements of some of them.
We study the product formula $(fg)(A) = f(A)g(A)$ in the framework of (unbounded) functional calculus of sectorial operators $A$. We give an abstract result, and, as corollaries, we obtain new product formulas for the holomorphic functional calculus, an extended Stieltjes functional calculus and an extended Hille-Phillips functional calculus. Our results generalise previous work of Hirsch, Martinez and Sanz, and Schilling.
In this paper, a new axiomatization for unbounded functional calculi is proposed and the associated theory is elaborated comprising, among others, uniqueness and compatibility results and extension theorems of algebraic and topological nature. In contrast to earlier approaches, no commutativity assumptions need to be made about the underlying algebras. In a second part, the abstract theory is illustrated in familiar situations (sectorial operators, semigroup generators, normal operators). New topological extension theorems are proved for the sectorial calculus and the Hille--Phillips calculus.…
Within the functional calculi of Bochner-Phillips and Hirsch, we describe the operators of distributed order differentiation and integration as functions of the classical differentiation and integration operators respectively.
The paper deals with (multidimensional and one-dimensional) Bochner-Phillips functional calculus. Bounded perturbations of Bernstein functions of (one or several commuting) semigroup generators on Banach spaces are considered, conditions for Lipschitzness and Frechet-differentiability of such functions are obtained, estimates for the norm of commutators are proved, and a generalization of Livschits-Kre\uın trace formula derived.
In this paper we aim to construct an abstract model of a differential operator with a fractional integro-differential operator composition in final terms, where modeling is understood as an interpretation of concrete differential operators in terms of the infinitesimal generator of a corresponding semigroup. We study such operators as a Kipriyanov operator, Riesz potential, difference operator. Along with this, we consider transforms of m-accretive operators as a generalization, introduce an operator class $\mathfrak{G_α}$ and provide a description of its spectral properties.
In this paper the notion of an abstract square function (estimate) is introduced as an operator X to gamma (H; Y), where X, Y are Banach spaces, H is a Hilbert space, and gamma(H; Y) is the space of gamma-radonifying operators. By the seminal work of Kalton and Weis, this definition is a coherent generalisation of the classical notion of square function appearing in the theory of singular integrals. Given an abstract functional calculus (E, F, Phi) on a Banach space X, where F (O) is an algebra of scalar-valued functions on a set O, we define a square function Phi_gamma(f) for certain H-valued…
We give a simple proof of the fact that the classical Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operator $L$ is R-sectorial of angle $arcsin|1-2/p|$ on $L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^{n},\exp(-|x|^2/2)dx)$ (for $1<p<\infty$). Applying the abstract holomorphic functional calculus theory of Kalton and Weis, this immediately gives a new proof of the fact that $L$ has a bounded $H^{\infty}$ functional calculus with this optimal angle.
In this paper, recent abstract multiplier theorems for $0$-sectorial and $0$-strip type operators by Kriegler and Weis (2018) are refined and generalized to arbitrary sectorial and strip-type operators. To this end, holomorphic Hörmander-type functions on sectors and strips are introduced with a scale of smoothness being finer than the classical polynomial one. Moreover, we establish alternative descriptions of these spaces involving Schwartz and "holomorphic Schwartz" functions. Finally, the abstract results are combined with a recent result by Carbonaro and Dragičević (2017) to obtain an imp…
We develop an abstract framework for the investigation of quantization and dequantization procedures based on orthogonality relations that do not necessarily involve group representations. To illustrate the usefulness of our abstract method we show that it behaves well with respect to the infinite tensor products. This construction subsumes examples coming from the study of magnetic Weyl calculus, the magnetic pseudo-differential Weyl calculus, the metaplectic representation on locally compact abelian groups, irreducible representations associated with finite-dimensional coadjoint orbits of so…
We give a direct non-abstract proof of the Spectral Mapping Theorem for the Helffer-Sjöstrand functional calculus for linear operators on Banach spaces with real spectra and consequently give a new non-abstract direct proof for the Spectral Mapping Theorem for self-adjoint operators on Hilbert spaces. Our exposition is closer in spirit to the proof by explicit construction of the existence of the Functional Calculus given by Davies. We apply an extension theorem of Seeley to derive a functional calculus for semi-bounded operators.
We outline an abstract approach to the pseudo-differential Weyl calculus for operators in function spaces in infinitely many variables. Our earlier approach to the Weyl calculus for Lie group representations is extended to the case of representations associated with infinite-dimensional coadjoint orbits. We illustrate the approach by the case of infinite-dimensional Heisenberg groups. The classical Weyl-Hörmander calculus is recovered for the Schrödinger representations of the finite-dimensional Heisenberg groups.
We develop our earlier approach to the Weyl calculus for representations of infinite-dimensional Lie groups by establishing continuity properties of the Moyal product for symbols belonging to various modulation spaces. For instance, we prove that the modulation space of symbols $M^{\infty,1}$ is an associative Banach algebra and the corrresponding operators are bounded. We then apply the abstract results to two classes of representations, namely the unitary irreducible representations of nilpotent Lie groups, and the natural representations of the semidirect product groups that govern the magn…
We study certain differential operators of the form AD arising from a first-order approach to the Kato square root problem. We show that if such operators are R-bisectorial in L^p, they remain R-bisectorial in L^q for all q close to p. In combination with our earlier results with Portal, which required such R-bisectoriality in different L^q spaces to start with, this shows that the R-bisectoriality in just one L^p actually implies bounded H-infinity calculus in L^q for all q close to p. We adapt the approach to related second-order results developed by Auscher, Hofmann and Martell, and also em…
Given a finite regular graph G=(V,E) and a metric space (X,d_X), let $gamma_+(G,X) denote the smallest constant $γ_+>0$ such that for all f,g:V\to X we have: \frac{1}{|V|^2}\sum_{x,y\in V} d_X(f(x),g(y))^2\le \frac{γ_+}{|E|} \sum_{xy\in E} d_X(f(x),g(y))^2. In the special case X=R this quantity coincides with the reciprocal of the absolute spectral gap of $G$, but for other geometries the parameter γ_+(G,X), which we still think of as measuring the non-linear spectral gap of G with respect to X (even though there is no actual spectrum present here), can behave very differently. Non-linear spec…
