Higher order corrections are obtained for the perihelion precession in binary systems like OJ287, Sagittarius A*-S2 and H1821+643 using both the Schwarzschild metric and the Kerr metric to take into account the spin effect. The corrections are performed considering the third root of the motion equation and developing the expansion in terms of $ε\equiv r_s/\left(a(1-e^2)\right)$ and $ε^{*} \equiv \left(1- \frac{2 αE'}{cJ}\right) ε$.The results are compared with those obtained in a previous paper.
In this talk relativistic corrections due to Geroch-Hansen multipoles for perihelion precession and node line precession of orbits in a stationary axially symmetric vacuum spacetime endowed with a plane of symmetry will be shown. Patterns of regularity will be discussed.
It is now known that, apart from black holes, some naked singularities can also cast shadows which provide their possible observable signatures. We examine the relevant question here as to how to distinguish then these entities from each other, in terms of further physical signatures. We point out that black holes always admit timelike bound orbits having positive perihelion precession. Also, while a naked singularity with a photon sphere can cast a shadow, it could also admit positive perihelion precession for such orbits, thereby mimicking a black hole. Taking up a method devised by Taylor and Wheeler and collecting pieces of their work we offer a self-contained derivation of the formulae giving both the precession of the orbit of a planet around the Sun and the deflection angle of a light pulse passing near the Sun in the framework of General Relativity. The demonstration uses only elementary algebra without resorting to tensor formalism. No prior knowledge in relativity is needed to follow the presentation.
We investigate the perihelion shift of planetary motion in conformal Weyl gravity using the metric of the static, spherically symmetric solution discovered by Mannheim \& Kazanas (1989). In this paper, the perihelion precession and deflection of light have been investigated in the 4-dimensional general spherically symmetric spacetime, and the main equation is obtained. As the application of this main equation, the Reissner-Nordstorm-AdS solution and Clifton-Barrow solution in $f(R)$ gravity have been taken for the examples. Direct relation is pointed out between the secular perihelion precession of a planet and the density of dark matter at its orbit. It is valid under the only assumption that the density is spherically-symmetric, with the center coinciding with the Sun. This relation, combined with the observational data on perihelion precession of planets, results in upper limits on local values of the dark matter density in the Solar system.
Quite exotic relativistic objects known as wormholes are hypothetical candidates for central machine of active galactic nuclei as well as black holes. We find the magnitude of the perihelion precession and the deflection of light in gravitational field of a wormhole and compare them with those for a black hole. The impact parameter is taken to be much larger than the wormhole throat size. We show that the relative difference between results for a black hole and a wormhole may be significant and amount to tens of percent.
Unparticle exchange gives rise to long range forces which deviate from the inverse square law due to non-canonical dimension of unparticles. It is well known that a potential of the form $r^{-n}$ where $n$ is not equal to one gives rise to a precession in the perihelion of planetary orbits. We calculate the constraints on unparticle couplings with baryons and leptons from the observations of perihelion advance of Mercury orbit.
Very recently authors in [1] proposed a new Generalized Uncertainty Principle (or GUP) with a linear term in Plank length. In this Letter the effect of this linear term is studied perturbatively in the context of Keplerian orbits. The angle by which the perihelion of the orbit revolves over a complete orbital cycle is computed. The result is applied in the context of the precession of the perihelion of Mercury. As a consequence we get a lower bound of the new intermediate length scale offered by the GUP which is approximately 40 orders of magnitude below Plank length.

Differently from other approaches to this problem, we do not assume that the potential is close to the Newtonian one. We performed various tests on a cosmological model in which the string gauge field, and its coupling to matter, is used to explain the rotation dynamics of stars in a galaxy. Observations used include perihelion precession and galaxy rotation curves. We solved precession motions for perturbations of 1) a Lorenz-like force and 2) a general power law central force. For the latter case, a simple rule judging pro/retrograde motions is derived. If the concepts underlying Effective Theory were appreciated from the earliest days of Newtonian gravity, Le Verrier's announcement in 1845 of the anomalous perihelion precession of Mercury would have been no surprise. Furthermore, the size of the effect could have been anticipated through "naturalness" arguments well before the definitive computation in General Relativity.
