The Heusler compound ScInAu$_2$ was previously reported to have a superconducting ground state with a critical temperature of 3.0 K. Recent high throughput calculations have also predicted that the material harbors a topologically non-trivial band structure similar to that reported for beta-PdBi$_2$. In an effort to explore the interplay between the superconducting and topological properties properties, electrical resistance, magnetization, and x-ray diffraction measurements were performed on polycrystalline ScInAu$_2$. The data reveal that high-quality polycrystalline samples lack the super-conducting transition present samples that have not been annealed. These results indicate the earlier reported superconductivity is non-intrinsic. Several compounds in the Au-In-Sc ternary phase space (ScAu$_2$, ScIn$_3$, and ScInAu$_2$) were explored in an attempt to identify the secondary phase responsible for the non-intrinsic superconductivity. The results suggest that elemental In is responsible for the reported superconductivity in ScInAu$_2$.
The hexagonal BeB2 compound has been prepared and found to be paramagnetic down to 5 K. The mixed (Mg,Be)B2 system has the same TC =39 K as pure MgB2, indicating that Be does not replace the Mg atoms.
The new superconductivity theory that attributes the $U(1)$ superconductivity phase to a Berry phase arising from many-body wave functions is applied to the circuit quantization for superconducting qubits. The phase-charge duality required for the occurrence of superconductivity in the standard theory becomes irrelevant in the new theory, and the absence of a dissipative quantum phase transition in Josephson junctions is explained. It is shown that a charge-decaying term leads to the compact phase description, and the appearance of Shapiro steps is explained without introducing normal current.
The long-sought goal of room-temperature superconductivity has reportedly recently been realized in a carbonaceous sulfur hydride compound under high pressure, as reported by Snider et al. [1]. The evidence presented in that paper is stronger than in other similar recent reports of high temperature superconductivity in hydrides under high pressure [2-7], and has been received with universal acclaim [8-10]. Here we point out that features of the experimental data shown in Ref. [1] indicate that the phenomenon observed in that material is not superconductivity. This observation calls into questi…
Shortly after the Gor'kov microscopic derivation of the Ginzburg-Landau (GL) model via a small order parameter expansion in Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer theory of superconductivity, the derivation was carried to next-to-leading order in that parameter and its spatial derivatives. The aim was to obtain a generalized GL free energy that approximates the microscopic model better. Since 1960s, multiple works have claimed or implicitly assumed that this extended GL model corresponds to the free energy and has solutions in the form of local minima describing superconductivity, such as vortex solutions.…
After receiving a number of comments and reviews from our colleagues who have suggested that our results could be greatly improved by other methods of extrapolation, we have decided to withdraw our paper entitled "Absence of superconductivity in the 2D Hubbard model" until we can perform these calculations.
It is generally believed that superconductivity can occur in materials irrespective of whether the charge carriers in the material are electrons or holes. Here we point out that Josephson tunneling would not occur between superconductors with charge carriers of opposite sign. Consequently, observation of Josephson tunneling between two superconductors implies that their charge carriers have the same sign. We propose that this has profound implications for the understanding of superconductivity and in particular is consistent with the theory of hole superconductivity.
The fundamental mechanism that gives rise to high-transition-temperature (high-Tc) superconductivity in the copper oxide materials has been debated since the discovery of the phenomenon. Recent work has focussed on a sharp 'kink' in the kinetic energy spectra of the electrons as a possible signature of the force that creates the superconducting state. The kink has been related to a magnetic resonance and also to phonons. Here we report that infrared spectra of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O(8+d), (Bi-2212) show that this sharp feature can be separated from a broad background and, interestingly, weakens with dop…
It is generally believed that magnetization measurements on sulfur hydride under high pressure performed in 2015 [1] provided "final convincing evidence of superconductivity" [2] in that material, in agreement with theoretical predictions [3,4]. Supported by this precedent, drops in resistance that were later observed in several other hydrides under high pressure [2,5] have been generally accepted as evidence of superconductivity without corroborating evidence from magnetic measurements. In this paper we challenge the original interpretation that the magnetic measurements on sulfur hydride per…
Capitani and coworkers [1] reported that infrared optical reflectance measurements provided evidence for a superconducting transition in sulfur hydride [2] under 150 GPa pressure, and that the transition is driven by the electron-phonon interaction. Here we argue that the measured data did not provide evidence that the system undergoes a transition to a superconducting state, nor do the data support any role of phonons in driving a transition. Rather, the data are consistent with the system remaining in the normal state down to temperature 50K, the lowest temperature measured in the experiment…
Inelastic neutron scattering experiments on Sr2RuO4 determine the spectral weight of the nesting induced magnetic fluctuations across the superconducting transition. There is no observable change at the superconducting transition down to an energy of ~0.35 meV, which is well below the 2 delta values reported in several tunneling experiments. At this and higher energies magnetic fluctuations clearly persist in the superconducting state. Only at energies below ~0.3 meV evidence for partial suppression of spectral weight in the superconducting state can be observed. This strongly suggests that th…
We report exact calculations of magnetic and superconducting pair-pair correlations for the half-filled band Hubbard model on an anisotropic triangular lattice. Our results for the magnetic phases are similar to those obtained with other techniques. The superconducting pair-pair correlations at distances beyond nearest neighbor decrease monotonically with increasing Hubbard interaction U for all anisotropy, indicating the absence of frustration-driven superconductivity within the model.
As an extension of our previous work on the holon pairing instability in the t-J Hamiltonian [Phys. Rev. B {\bf 66}, 054427 (2002)], we examine the orbital symmetries of holon pairing order parameters in high $T_c$ superconductivity by examining the energy poles of t-matrix. We find that both $s$- and d-wave symmetries in holon pair order parameter occur at low lying energy states corresponding to the higher energy poles of t-matrix while only the s-wave symmetry appears at the lowest energy pole and that this results in the d-wave symmetry in the Cooper pair order which is a composite of the …
The temperature dependence of in plane optical conductivity has been investigated for Ca0.86Pr0.14Fe2As2 which shows a structural transition from tetragonal (T) to collapsed tetragonal(cT) phase at TcT=73 K. Upon entering the cT phase, drastic change characterized by the formation of a midinfrared peak near 3200 cm-1(0.4 eV) in the optical conductivity is observed.Analysis of the spectral weight reveals reduced electron correlation after the cT phase transition.Based on the calculated band structure and simulated optical conductivity, we attribute the new feature around 0.4 eV to the formation…
The recently synthesized hydrogen boride monolayer in the Cmmm phase is a promising super-conductor due to its similarity to MgB2 and the large hydrogen content in its structure. Making use of first-principles calculations based on density functional theory, we study its electronic, vibrational, and superconducting properties and conclude that, despite the expectations, hydrogen boride does not have a sizable superconducting critical temperature. The presence of hydrogen in the system alters the boron-boron bonding, weakening the electron-phonon interaction. We have studied the effect of enhanc…
In this work, we show that the same theoretical tools that successfully explain other hydrides systems under pressure seem to be at odds with the recently claimed conventional room temperature superconductivity of the carbonaceous sulfur hydride. We support our conclusions with I) the absence of a dominant low-enthalpy stoichiometry and crystal structure in the ternary phase diagram. II) Only the thermodynamics of C-doping phases appears to be marginally competing in enthalpy against H$_3$S. III) Accurate results of the transition temperature given by ab initio Migdal-Eliashberg calculations d…
We have studied the electronic structure of Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Mn$_{x}$)$_{2}$As$_{2}$ ($x$=0.08), which fails to become a superconductor in spite of the formal hole doping like Ba$_{1-x}$K$_{x}$Fe$_{2}$As$_{2}$, by photoemission spectroscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). With decreasing temperature, a transition from the paramagnetic phase to the antiferromagnetic phase was clearly observed by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. XAS results indicated that the substituted Mn atoms form a strongly hybridized ground state. Resonance-photoemission spectra at the Mn $L_{3}$ edge reveal…
Recent high-pressure studies found that superconductivity can be achieved under very low pressure in the parent iron arsenide compound CaFe2As2, although details of the sharpness and temperature of transitions vary between liquid medium and gas medium measurements. To better understand this issue, we performed high-pressure susceptibility and transport studies on CaFe2As2, using helium as the pressure medium. The signatures of the transitions to the low-temperature orthorhombic and collapsed tetragonal phase remained exceptionally sharp and no signature of bulk superconductivity was found unde…
Recently superconductivity at 9 - 15 K was discovered in an infinite-layer nickelate (Nd$_{0.8}$Sr$_{0.2}$NiO$_2$ films), which has received enormous attention. Since the $Ni^{1+}$ ionic state in NdNiO$_2$ may have the $3d^9$ outer-shell electronic orbit which resembles that of the cuprates, it is very curious to know whether superconductivity discovered here has similar mechanism as that in the cuprates. By using a three-step method, we successfully synthesize the bulk samples of Nd$_{1-x}$Sr$_x$NiO$_2$ (x=0, 0.2, 0.4). The X-ray diffractions reveal that all the samples contain mainly the inf…
We have systematically investigated the magnetic, electrical, and structural properties of RuSr2GdCu2O8, in which a long-range ferromagnetic order and superconductivity have been previously reported to coexist. Based on the reversible magnetization results, we conclude that the bulk Meissner state does not exist in this compound and that the condensation energy associated with superconductivity is negligible. The absence of a bulk Meissner state and the superconductivity detected are thus attributed to the possible appearance of a sponge-like crypto-superconducting fine structure in RuSr2GdCu2…
A systematic study of the superconducting properties in a series of arc-melted Nb-B samples close to the 1:1 composition was carried out. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) shows that all samples are both non-stoichiometric, and comprising of two crystal phases: a majority orthorhombic NbB-type phase, and traces of a minor body-centered cubic Nb-rich phase Nb$_{ss}$ with stoichiometry close to Nb$_{0.98}$B$_{0.02}$. The emergence of superconductivity near T$_c \sim$ 9.0 K was inferred from magnetization data in chunk and powder samples. However, the very small superconducting volume fractions are …
The supercurrent for the surface superconductivity of a flat-band multilayered rhombohedral graphene is calculated. Despite the absence of dispersion of the excitation spectrum, the supercurrent is finite. The critical current is proportional to the zero-temperature superconducting gap, i.e., to the superconducting critical temperature and to the size of the flat band in the momentum space.
In the most studied family of organic superconductors kappa-(BEDT-TTF)_2X, the BEDT-TTF molecules that make up the conducting planes are coupled as dimers. For some anions X, an antiferromagnetic insulator is found at low temperatures adjacent to superconductivity. With an average of one hole carrier per dimer, the BEDT-TTF band is effectively 1/2-filled. Numerous theories have suggested that fluctuations of the magnetic order can drive superconducting pairing in these models, even as direct calculations of superconducting pairing in monomer 1/2-filled band models find no superconductivity. He…
We employ polarization-resolved Raman spectroscopy to study multi-band stoichiometric superconductor CaKFe$_4$As$_4$. The B$_{2g}$ symmetry Raman response shows no signatures of Pomeranchuk-like electronic nematic fluctuations which is observed for many other Fe-based superconductors. In the superconducting state, we identify three pair-breaking peaks at 13.8, 16.9 and 21 meV and full spectral weight suppression at low energies. The pair-breaking peak energies in Raman response are about 20% lower than twice the gap energies as measured by single-particle spectroscopy, implying a sub-dominant …
In the work the analysis of crystal chemical researches of nickel borocarbides RNi2B2C (R = rare earth) is given. The reasons of representation of dependence of Tc from crystal chemical parameters by two separate curves for magnetic and nonmagnetic R are considered. Common for all R dependences of Tc from crystal chemical parameters similar existing in layered quasi-two-dimensional systems (HTSC cuprates and diborides) are established. The absence of influence on borocarbides Tc of magnetic properties R is determined. On the basis of the found correlations the radii of a number of rare earths …
The possibility of coexistence of superconductivity (SC) and antiferromagnetic long range order (AFLRO) of the two-dimensional extended $t-J$ model in the very underdoped region is studied by the variational Monte-Carlo (VMC) method. In addition to using previously studied wave functions, a recently proposed new wave function generated from the half-filled Mott insulator is used. For hole-doped systems, the phase boundary between AFLRO and $d-$wave SC for the physical parameters, $J/t=0.3$, $t'/t=-0.3$ and $t''/t=0.2$, is located near hole density $δ_c = 0.06$, and there is {\it no} coexistenc…
Using an asymptotically exact weak coupling analysis of a multi-orbital Hubbard model of the electronic structure of \SRO, we show that the interplay between spin and charge fluctuations leads unequivocally to triplet pairing which originates in the quasi-one dimensional bands. The resulting superconducting state spontaneously breaks time-reversal symmetry and is of the form $Δ\sim p_x + i p_y \hat{z}$ with sharp gap minima and a d-vector that is only {\it weakly} pinned. The supercondutor is topologically {\it trivial} and hence lacks robust chiral Majorana fermion modes along the boundary. T…
Electrical resistivity, specific heat and NMR measurements classify non-centrosymmetric $\rm Mo_3Al_2C$ ($β$-Mn type, space group $P4_132$) as a strong-coupled superconductor with $T_c = 9$~K deviating notably from BCS-like behaviour. The absence of a Hebbel-Slichter peak, a power law behaviour of the spin-lattice relaxation rate (from $^{27}$Al NMR), a $T^3$ temperature dependence of the specific heat and a pressure enhanced $T_c$ suggest unconventional superconductivity with a nodal structure of the superconducting gap. Relativistic DFT calculations reveal a splitting of degenerate electroni…
The relationship between unconventional superconductivity, antiferromagnetism and nematic order in iron-based superconductors (FeSCs) is still highly debated. In many FeSCs superconductivity is in proximity of a nematically and magnetically ordered state. LiFeAs is an exceptional stoichiometric FeSC becoming superconducting below 18 K, without undergoing a structural or magnetic transition. However, some recent experimental studies suggested the existence of finite nematic fluctuations and even a nematic superconducting state. In this study, we employ elastoresistance as a measure of nematic f…
Experiments on hybrid superconducting normal-metal structures have revealed that even in the absence of tunnel junctions the onset of superconductivity can lead to a decrease in the electrical conductance by an amount many orders of magnitude greater than $e^2/h$. In this Letter we provide a theory of this phenomenon which shows that it originates from an instability in 4 - probe conductance measurements which is absent from 2-probe measurements. We compare the zero-bias,zero-temperature 4-probe conductances $G_{N}$ and $G_{S}$ of a normal diffusive metal in contact with a superconductor in bo…
We analyze the anomalies of superconducting state within a simple exactly solvable model of the pseudogap state, induced by fluctuations of ``dielectric'' short range order, for the model of the Fermi surface with ``hot'' patches. The analysis is performed for the arbitrary values of the correlation length xi_{corr} of this short range order. It is shown that superconducting energy gap averaged over these fluctuations is non zero in a wide temperature range above T_c - the temperature of homogeneous superconducting transition. This follows from the absence of self averaging of the gap over the…
Recently, C. M. Pépin \textit{et al.} [Science \textbf{357}, 382 (2017)] reported the formation of several new iron polyhydrides FeH$_x$ at pressures in the megabar range, and spotted FeH$_5$, which forms above 130 GPa, as a potential high-\tc \ superconductor, because of an alleged layer of dense metallic hydrogen. Shortly after, two studies by A.~Majumdar \textit{et al.} [Phys. Rev. B \textbf{96}, 201107 (2017)] and A.~G.~Kvashnin \textit{et al.} [J. Phys. Chem. C \textbf{122}, 4731 (2018)] based on {\em ab initio} Migdal-Eliashberg theory seemed to independently confirm such a conjecture. W…
The compound IrTe2 is known to exhibit a transition to a modulated state featuring Ir-Ir dimers, with large associated atomic displacements. Partial substitution of Pt or Rh for Ir destabilizes the modulated structure and induces superconductivity. It has been proposed that quantum critical dimer fluctuations might be associated with the superconductivity. Here we test for such local dimer correlations and demonstrate their absence. X-ray pair distribution function approach reveals that the local structure of Ir0.95Pt0.05Te2 and Ir0.8Rh0.2Te2 dichalcogenide superconductors with compositions ju…

The recently reported superconductivity 9-15 K in Nd0.8Sr0.2NiO2/SrTiO3 heterostructures that were fabricated by a soft-chemical topotactic reduction approach based on precursor Nd0.8Sr0.2NiO3 thin films deposited on SrTiO3 substrates, has excited an immediate surge of research interest. To explore an alternative physical path instead of chemical reduction for realizing superconductivity in this compound, using pulsed laser deposition, we systematically fabricated 63 Nd0.8Sr0.2NiOx (NSNO) thin films at a wide range of oxygen partial pressures on various different oxide substrates. Transport me…
Tetragonal beta-FeSe obtained by hydrothermal reaction is not superconducting and transforms to a triclinic structure at 60 K unlike superconducting FeSe from solid state synthesis, which becomes orthorhombic at 90 K. In contrast, tetragonal iron sulphide FeS from hydrothermal synthesis is superconducting at 4.8 K but undergoes no structural transition. Our results suggest that the absence of superconductivity in hydrothermally synthesized FeSe may be associated to the low-temperature structure with zigzag chains of iron atoms, which is different from the known orthorhombic Cmme structure of s…
Transverse-field muon spin rotation ($μ$SR) experiments in the heavy-fermion superconductor PrOs$_{4}$Sb$_{12}$ ($T_{c}=1.85$ K) suggest that the superconducting penetration depth $λ(T)$ is temperature-independent at low temperatures, consistent with a gapped quasiparticle excitation spectrum. In contrast, radiofrequency (rf) inductive measurements yield a stronger temperature dependence of $λ(T)$, indicative of point nodes in the gap. This discrepancy appears to be related to the multiband structure of PrOs$_{4}$Sb$_{12}$. Muon Knight shift measurements in PrOs$_{4}$Sb$_{12}$ suggest that the…
We have systematically investigated the effect of oxygen nonstoichiometry in a nominally undoped superconductor T'-(La,Y)2CuO4+y. In the experiments, the reduction condition was changed after the sample growth by MBE. The superconductivity is very sensitive to the reduction condition. With systematically increasingly reduced atmospheres, resistivity shows a continuous drop and no discontinuity is observed even until the appearance of superconductivity. The absence of the highly insulating state expected for Mott insulators around y ~ 0 suggests that T'-(La,Y)2CuO4 has intrinsic carriers. The r…
We report a high-pressure single crystal study of the topological superconductor Cu$_x$Bi$_2$Se$_3$. Resistivity measurements under pressure show superconductivity is depressed smoothly. At the same time the metallic behavior is gradually lost. The upper critical field data $B_{c2}(T)$ under pressure collapse onto a universal curve. The absence of Pauli limiting and the comparison of $B_{c2}(T)$ to a polar state function point to spin-triplet superconductivity, but an anisotropic spin-singlet state cannot be discarded completely.
The structural and electronic properties of FeSe ultra-thin layers on Bi$_{2}$Se$_{3}$ have been investigated with a combination of scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The FeSe multi-layers, which are predominantly 3-5 monolayers (ML) thick, exhibit a hole pocket-like electron band at \barΓ and a dumbbell-like feature at \bar{M}, similar to multi-layers of FeSe on SrTiO$_{3}$. Moreover, the topological state of the Bi2Se3 is preserved beneath the FeSe layer, as indicated by a heavily \it{n}-doped Dirac cone. Low temperature STS does not…
The interplay between structural phase and electronic correlations has been an intriguing topic of research. An prominent example is the pressure-induced uncollapsed to collapsed tetragonal phase transition observed in CaFe$_2$As$_2$, which is accompanied with the emergence of superconductivity in the collapsed phase. Recently, a very similar structural phase transition was discovered in LaFe$_2$As$_2$, but in contrast to CaFe$_2$As$_2$, superconductivity was only observed in the uncollapsed phase, not the collapsed phase. Previous studies have attributed this puzzling observation to the diffe…
To study the superconducting gap structure of BiS$_2$-based layered compound NdO$_{0.71}$F$_{0.29}$BiS$_{2}$ ($T$$_{\rm c}$ = 5 K), we measured the thermal conductivity $κ$, which is a sensitive probe of the low-energy quasiparticle spectrum. In the absence of a magnetic field, there is only a very small residual linear term in the thermal conductivity $κ_{0}$/$T$ at $T$ $\rightarrow$ 0, indicating the absence of a residual normal fluid, expected for nodal superconductors. Moreover, the applied magnetic field hardly affects the thermal conductivity in the wide range of the vortex state, indica…
We report the superconductivity in Ca-intercalated bilayer graphene C$_6$CaC$_6$, the thinnest limit of Ca graphite intercalation compound. We performed \textit{in situ} electrical transport measurements on pristine bilayer graphene, C$_6$LiC$_6$ and C$_6$CaC$_6$ fabricated on SiC substrate under zero and non-zero magnetic field. While both bilayer graphene and C$_6$LiC$_6$ show non-superconducting behavior, C$_6$CaC$_6$ exhibits the superconductivity with transition temperature ($T_{\rm c}$) of 4.0 K. The observed $T_{\rm c}$ in C$_6$CaC$_6$ and the absence of superconductivity in C$_6$LiC$_6…
The newly discovered Kagome superconductors $A$V$_3$Sb$_5$ ($A$ = K, Rb, Cs) exhibit superconductivity, charge order, and band topology simultaneously. To explore the intricate interplay between the superconducting and charge orders, we investigate the doping evolution of superconductivity, charge-density-wave (CDW) order, and band topology in doped topological kagome superconductors Cs(V$_{1-x}$Ti$_x$)$_3$Sb$_5$ where the Ti-dopant introduces hole-like charge carriers. Despite the absence of the CDW phase transition in doped compounds even for the lowest doping level of $x=0.047$, the superco…
Superconductivity is often found in a dome around quantum critical points, i.e. 2nd-order quantum phase transitions. Here, we show that an enhancement of superconductivity is avoided at the critical pressure of the charge-density-wave (CDW) state in NbSe$_2$. We present comprehensive high-pressure Hall effect and magnetic susceptibility measurements of the CDW and superconducting state in NbSe$_2$. Initially, the 2nd-order CDW transition is suppressed smoothly but it drops to zero abruptly at PCDW = 4.4 GPa thus indicating a change to 1st order whilstthe superconducting transition temperature …
The relationship between antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations and superconductivity has become a central topic of research in studies of superconductivity in the iron pnictides. We present unambiguous evidence of the absence of magnetic fluctuations in the non-superconducting collapsed tetragonal phase of CaFe2As2 via inelastic neutron scattering time-of-flight data, which is consistent with the view that spin fluctuations are a necessary ingredient for unconventional superconductivity in the iron pnictides. We demonstrate that the collapsed tetragonal phase of CaFe2As2 is non-magnetic, and dis…
The superconductivity of a kagome superconductor CsV3Sb5 is studied by scanning tunneling microscopy / spectroscopy at an ultralow temperature with high resolution. Two kinds of superconducting gaps with multiple sets of coherent peaks and residual zero-energy density of states are observed on both half-Cs and Sb surfaces, implying multiband superconductivity with gap nodes. Sixfold star-shaped magnetic vortex is observed with conventional Caroli-de Gennes-Matricon bound states inside. Magnetic impurities suppress the superconductivity, while nonmagnetic impurities do not, suggesting the absen…
Recent experiments have pointed to a chiral p-wave-like superconductivity in epitaxial Bi/Ni bilayers that are spontaneously time-reversal symmetry breaking (TRSB), making it a promising platform for exploring physics useful for topologically protected quantum computing. Quite intriguingly, evidence has emerged that in non-epitaxial Bi/Ni bilayers, superconductivity arises due to the formation of NiBi3, which has been reported to host coexisting ferromagnetic and superconducting orders at the surface. We perform high resolution surface magneto-optic Kerr effect (SMOKE) measurements using a Sag…
With the discovery of Tc s over 100K, continuously biased hole-doped semiconductive C60+y has joined the family of high-temperature superconductors (HTSC) previously dominated by the ceramic cuprates. The phase diagrams of these two quite different materials are remarkably similar, despite the absence from undoped C60+y of magnetic order. This supports percolative models of HTSC based on strong electron-phonon interactions. These models explain observed fine structure in the C60+y phase diagrams, and furthermore suggest novel paths to still higher Tc s.
The pair-fluctuation contribution reduces the electrostatic screening length in superconductivity as compared to the normal state. When a conductor possesses a static background charge distribution, superconductivity arises even in the absence of an explicit pairing interaction, such that the Coulomb repulsion is reduced and the total energy is lowered. We demonstrate that the superconducting gap increases with increased background charge at first, after which the mixing of the Higgs and plasma modes suppresses superconductivity in the pseudogap phase. This indicates that the mechanism may be …
We propose that screened pairing interactions mediated by phonons could give rise to a spin triplet superconductivity in ferromagnetic compounds such as UGe_2. It is pointed out that the pairing interactions include anisotropic components such as those of p, d, f-waves in addition to dominant s-wave component due to the momentum dependence. Since the ferromagnetic long-range order coexists, there is a large splitting of the Fermi surfaces of up and down spin electrons, which suppresses singlet pairing. Therefore, triplet pairing occurs at last due to the sub-dominant anisotropic interactions, …
Some new members of a Ruthenocuprate (2212) series have been synthesized by Mn substitution for Ru in Gd1.4Ce0.6Sr2RuCu2O10 . Characterisation by XRD phase analysis followed by Rietveld refinement has been carried out. IR spectroscopy studies and Rietveld refinements are consistent with substitution of Mn at Ru site. XRD studies indicate changes in structural features on substitution including a significant change in lattice parameter for a very low substitution level (1mole% of Ru). The pristine compound shows coexistence of superconductivity and magnetism. Four probe resistivity studies indi…
Motivated by recent studies on ferroelectric-like order coexisting with metallicity, we investigate ferroelectric (FE) superconductivity in which a FE-like structural phase transition occurs in the superconducting state. We consider a two-dimensional s-wave superconductor with Rashba-type antisymmetric spin-orbit coupling (ASOC). Assuming linear relationship between polar lattice displacement and strength of the ASOC, we treat the Rashba-type ASOC as a molecular field of FE-like order. It is shown that the FE-like order is induced by the magnetic field when the system is superconducting. Furth…
