The most robust prediction of inflationary cosmology is the existence of a red tilt for the spectrum of curvature fluctuations that is experimentally of order $0.04$. The tilt is derived solving the exact equation for quantum fluctuations in a quasi de Sitter background defined by a equation of state $ε\equiv \frac{(p+ρ)}ρ$ with $ε$ small but non vanishing. The experimental data selects among the different quasi de Sitter inflaton potentials. The origin of the lack of scale invariance associated with the tilt is however classical in essence and parametrized by the slow roll of the inflaton potential. Here we present a purely quantum mechanical and model independent derivation of the tilt. This derivation is based on two basic observations: first, the correlator for gauge invariant variables is related to the {\it quantum Fisher function} measuring the quantum dependence of the family of pure de Sitter vacua on the energy scale parameter; second, this quantum Fisher function has a non vanishing scale dependent red tilt that, at the energy scales of physical interest, fits the effective quasi de Sitter prediction as well as the experimental value. This is a result that is model independent and only based on the quantum features of the family of de Sitter vacua.
One of the most important achievements of inflationary cosmology is to predict a departure from scale invariance of the power spectrum for scalar curvature cosmological fluctuations. This tilt is understood as a consequence of a quasi de Sitter classical equation of state describing the inflationary dark energy dominated era. Here, following previous work, we find a departure of scale invariance for the quantum Fisher information associated to de Sitter vacuum for scalar quantum spectator modes. This gives rise to a purely quantum cosmological tilt with a well defined dependence on energy scal…
A promising candidate for cold dark matter is primordial black holes (PBH) formed from strong primordial quantum fluctuations. A necessary condition for the formation of PBH's is a change of sign in the tilt governing the anomalous scale invariance of the power spectrum from red at large scales into blue at small scales. Non-perturbative information on the dependence of the power spectrum tilt on energy scale can be extracted from the quantum Fisher information measuring the energy dependence of the quantum phases defining the de Sitter vacua. We show that this non-perturbative quantum tilt go…
The aim of Quantum Fisher Cosmology is to use the quantum Fisher information about pure de Sitter states to derive model independent observational consequences of the existence of a primordial phase of the Universe of de Sitter accelerated expansion. These quantum features are encoded in a scale dependent quantum cosmological tilt that defines what we can call the de Sitter universality class. The experimental predictions are: i) A phase transition from red into blue tilt at a scale order $k= 1$ Mpc$^{-1}$ that naturally solves the cosmological trans-Planckian problem, ii) A spectral index for…
We observe that the equation of motion for a free scalar field in a closed universe with radiation and a positive cosmological constant is given by Lamé's equation. Computing the exact power spectrum of scalar field perturbations, the presence of both curvature and radiation produces a red tilt weakly dependent on the amount of radiation.
We propose a geometric interpretation for the Stokes phenomenon in de Sitter spacetime that particles are produced in even dimensions but not in odd dimensions. The scattering amplitude for a quantum field between the in-vacuum and the transported one along a closed path in the complex-time plane gives the particle-production rate that explains not only the Boltzmann factor from the simple pole at infinity, corresponding to the cosmological horizon, but also the sinusoidal behavior from simple poles at the north and south poles of the Euclidean geometry. The Stokes phenomenon is a consequence …
It has been argued recently that the entropy of black holes might be associated with soft scalar, graviton and photon states at the event horizon, as number of such possible soft states is proportional to the horizon area. However, the coefficient of proportionality between the number of soft states and the horizon area of a black hole has not been established. Here, similar arguments are applied to de Sitter spacetime and it is shown that soft scalar gravitational modes account for the full de Sitter entropy $S=\frac{1}{4}M_{P}^{2}A$ with the correct numerical prefactor in front of the horizo…
Weakening the Euclidean assumption in special relativity and the coordinate-independence hypothesis in general relativity for the de Sitter space, we propose a de Sitter invariant special relativity with two universal constants of speed $c$ and length $R$ based on the principle of relativity and the postulate of universal constants $c$ and $R$ on de Sitter space with Beltrami metric. We also propose a postulate on the origin of the inertial motions and inertial systems as a base of the principle of relativity. We show that the Beltrami-de Sitter space provides such a model that the origin of i…
A large class of the dynamical laws for causal sets described by a classical process of sequential growth yield a cyclic universe, whose cycles of expansion and contraction are punctuated by single `origin elements' of the causal set. We present evidence that the effective dynamics of the immediate future of one of these origin elements, within the context of the sequential growth dynamics, yields an initial period of de Sitter like exponential expansion, and argue that the resulting picture has many attractive features as a model of the early universe, with the potential to solve some of the …
We continue the study of inflationary fluctuations in Holographic Space Time models of inflation. We argue that the holographic theory of inflation provides a physical context for what is often called dS/CFT. The holographic theory is a quantum theory which, in the limit of a large number of e-foldings, gives rise to a field theory on $S^3$, which is the representation space for a unitary representation of SO(1,4). This is not a conventional CFT, and we do not know the detailed non-perturbative axioms for correlation functions. However, the two- and three-point functions are completely determi…
We give strong numerical evidence for the existence of an instability afflicting six-dimensional Reissner-Nordström de Sitter (RNdS) black holes. This instability is akin of the Konoplya-Zhidenko instability present in RNdS black holes in seven spacetime dimensions and above. Moreover, we perform a detailed analysis of the near-horizon limit of extremal RNdS black holes, and find that unstable gravitational modes effectively behave as a massive scalar field whose mass violates the AdS$_2$ Breitenlöhner-Freedman bound (if and only if $d\geq 6$), thus providing a physical argument for the existe…
Therotationofthecosmicobjectsisauniversalphenomenonanditsoriginisstillanopenquestion. Here a model for the origin of rotation is presented. After an investigation of the phase transition of a scalar field in de Sitter and Gödel backgrounds, the motion of a test particle during the phase transitions is studied. Then using computer simulation for a congruence of particles, we show that although the local induced rotation is nonzero, the global rotation is below the observational limit.
In this Letter we show that the vacuum polarization of quantum fields in an anti-de Sitter space naturally gives rise to a small but nonzero cosmological constant in a brane world living in it. To explain the extremely small ratio of mass density in the cosmological constant to the Planck mass density in our universe (\approx 10^{-123}) as suggested by cosmological observations, all we need is a four-dimensional brane world (our universe) living in a five-dimensional anti-de Sitter space with a curvature radius r_0 \sim 10^{-3}cm and a fundamental Planck energy M_P \sim 10^9 GeV, and a scalar …
The deep reason why the equations describing axial and polar perturbations of Schwarzschild black holes have the same spectrum is far from trivial. In this article, we revisit the original proof and try to make it clearer. Still focusing on uncharged and non-rotating black holes, we extend the results to spacetimes including a cosmological constant, which have so far mostly been investigated numerically from this perspective.

We study dynamics of Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) spacetime based on the ghost-free bigravity theory. Assuming the coupling parameters guaranteeing the existence of de Sitter space as well as Minkowski spacetime, we find two stable attractors for spacetime with "twin" dust matter fields: One is de Sitter accelerating universe and the other is matter dominated universe. Although a considerable number of initial data leads to de Sitter universe, we also find matter dominated universe or spacetime with a future singularity for some initial data. The cosmic no-hair conjecture does no…
It was pointed out recently that in some inflationary models quantum loops containing a scalar of mass $m$ that couples to the inflaton can be the dominant source of primordial non-Gaussianities. We explore this phenomenon in the simplest such model focusing on the behavior of the primordial curvature fluctuations for small $m/H$. Explicit calculations are done for the three and four point curvature fluctuation correlations. Constraints on the parameters of the model from the CMB limits on primordial non-Gaussianity are discussed. The bi-spectrum in the squeezed limit and the tri-spectrum in t…
We show explicitly that free quantum field theory in de Sitter background restricted on the cosmological horizon produces another quantum field theory unitarily equivalent with the original one. Symmetry properties descending from the dual theory are also remarked. In the restricted theory the thermal properties, known for de Sitter quantum field theory, can be proved straightforwardly.
We analyze the renormalization properties of quantum field theories in de Sitter space and show that only two of the maximally invariant vacuum states of free fields lead to consistent perturbation expansions. One is the Euclidean vacuum, and the other can be viewed as an analytic continuation of Euclidean functional integrals on $RP^d$. The corresponding Lorentzian manifold is the future half of global de Sitter space with boundary conditions on fields at the origin of time. We argue that the perturbation series in this case has divergences at the origin, which render the future evolution of …

We derive the scalar potential in zero mode effective action arising from a de Sitter brane embedded in five dimensions with bulk cosmological constant $Λ$. The scalar potential for a scalar field canonically normalized is given by the sum of exponential potentials. In the case of $Λ=0$ and $Λ>0$, we point out that the scalar potential has an unstable local maximum at the origin and exponentially vanishes for large positive scalar field. In the case of $Λ<0$, the scalar potential has an unstable local maximum at the origin and a stable local minimum, it is shown that the positive cosmological …
We study both global as well as local (Nielsen-Olesen) strings in de Sitter space. While these type of topological defects have been studied in the background of a de Sitter metric previously, we study here the full set of coupled equations. We find only ``closed'' solutions. The behaviour of the metric tensor of these solutions resembles that of ``supermassive'' strings with a curvature singularity at the cosmological horizon. For global strings (and the composite defect) we are able to construct solutions which are regular on the interval from the origin to the cosmological horizon if the gl…
A four-dimensional black hole solution of the Einstein equations with a positive cosmological constant, coupled to a conformal scalar field, is given. There is a curvature singularity at the origin, and scalar field diverges inside the event horizon. The electrically charged solution, which has a fixed charge-to-mass ratio is also found. The quartic self-interacting coupling becomes bounded in terms of Newton's and the cosmological constants.
Hawking radiation can usefully be viewed as a semi-classical tunneling process that originates at the black hole horizon. The same basic premise should apply to de Sitter background radiation, with the cosmological horizon of de Sitter space now playing the featured role. In fact, a recent work [hep-th/0204107] has gone a long way to verifying the validity of this de Sitter-tunneling picture. In the current paper, we extend these prior considerations to arbitrary-dimensional de Sitter space, as well as Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetimes. It is shown that the tunneling formalism naturally censo…
We consider quantum effects of a massive antisymmetric tensor field on the dynamics of de Sitter space-time. Our starting point is the most general, stable, linearized Lagrangian arising in nonsymmetric gravitational theories (NGTs), where part of the antisymmetric field mass is generated by the cosmological term. We construct a renormalization group (RG) improved effective action by integrating out one loop vacuum fluctuations of the antisymmetric tensor field and show that, in the limit when the RG scale goes to zero, the Hubble parameter -- and thus the effective cosmological constant -- re…
We investigate scalar field theories in de Sitter space by means of nonperturbative renormalization group techniques. We compute the functional flow equation for the effective potential of O(N) theories in the local potential approximation and we study the onset of curvature-induced effects as quantum fluctuations are progressively integrated out from subhorizon to superhorizon scales. This results in a dimensional reduction of the original action to an effective zero-dimensional Euclidean theory. We show that the latter is equivalent both to the late-time equilibrium state of the stochastic a…
We show how to generate non-trivial solutions to the conformally invariant, relativistic fluid dynamic equations by appealing to the Weyl covariance of the stress tensor. We use this technique to show that a recently studied solution of the relativistic conformally invariant Navier-Stokes equations in four-dimensional Minkowski space can be recast as a static flow in three-dimensional de Sitter space times a line. The simplicity of the de Sitter form of the flow enables us to consider several generalizations of it, including flows in other spacetime dimensions, second order viscous corrections…
In previous work, we found ten-dimensional solutions to the supergravity equations of motion with a dS$_4$ factor and O8-planes. We generalize this analysis and obtain other solutions in the same spirit, with an O8$_+$ and an O6$_-$. We examine our original solutions in more detail, focusing in particular on the O8$_-$ singularities and on the issues created by their boundary conditions. We also point out some previously known supersymmetric AdS solutions with the same local behavior at their O8$_-$ singularity.
Thermodynamic properties of Schwarzschild-Anti de-Sitter (Sch-AdS) and Reissner-Nordström-Anti de-Sitter (RN-AdS) blackholes in 3+1 dimensional spacetime are studied critically with special reference to the warped braneworld black holes with non-vanishing cosmological constant on the brane. Explicit dependence of the thermodynamic variables on the parameters of the braneworld model such as the induced three brane cosmological constant as well as the bulk cosmological constant have been determined. Hawking-Page phase transition has been discussed for both Sch-AdS and RN-AdS black holes. At the …
Three exact solutions say $ϕ_0$ of massless scalar theories on Euclidean space, i.e. $D=6 ϕ^3$, $D=4 ϕ^4$ and $D=3 ϕ^6$ models are obtained which share similar properties. The information geometry of their moduli spaces coincide with the Euclidean ${AdS}_7$, ${AdS}_5$ and ${AdS}_4$ respectively on which $ϕ_0$ can be described as a stable tachyon. In D=4 we recognize that the SU(2) instanton density is proportional to $ϕ_0^4$. The original action $S[ϕ]$ written in terms of new scalars ${\tilde ϕ}=ϕ-ϕ_0$ is shown to be equivalent to an interacting scalar theory on $D$-dimensional de Sitter backg…
We study the consistency of a model which includes torsion as well as the metric as dynamical fields and has massive spin-2 particle in its spectrum. The massive spin-2 mode resides in the torsion, rather than in the metric. It is known that this model is tachyon- and ghost-free in Minkowski background. We show that this property remains valid and no other pathologies emerge in de Sitter and anti-de Sitter backgrounds, with some of our results extending to arbirary Einstein space backgrounds. This suggests that the model is consistent, at least at the classical level, unlike, e.g., the Fierz--…
In the spherically symmetric case the requirements of regularity of density and pressures and finiteness of the ADM mass $m$, together with the weak energy condition, define the family of asymptotically flat globally regular solutions to the Einstein minimally coupled equations which includes the class of metrics asymptotically de Sitter as $r\to 0$. A source term connects smoothly de Sitter vacuum in the origin with the Minkowski vacuum at infinity and corresponds to anisotropic vacuum defined macroscopically by the algebraic structure of its stress-energy tensor invariant under boosts in the…
Instantons and their quantisation in pure Yang-Mills theory formulated in the background of de Sitter spacetime represented by spatially-closed ($k = 1$) Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric are discussed. As for the classical treatment of the instanton physics, first, explicit instanton solutions are found and next, quantities like Pontryagin index and the semiclassical approximation to the inter-vacua tunnelling amplitude are evaluated. The Atiyah-Patodi-Singer index theorem is checked as well by constructing explicitly the normalizable fermion zero modes in this de Sitter spacetime instanton b…
