In the conventional left-right gauge model, if the Higgs scalar sector consists only of an $SU(2)_L$ doublet and an $SU(2)_R$ doublet, fermion masses are zero at tree level. There have been many studies on how they would become massive. With the help of a dark sector with $U(1)_D$ gauge symmetry, it is shown how all standard-model fermions may acquire realistic masses radiatively, including that of the top quark. In this context, the particle content of the model also implies the automatic conservation of baryon number $B$ and lepton number $L$ as in the standard model. Observable anomalous Higgs couplings are predicted.
A model of split left-right symmetry is proposed, where the first family of quarks and leptons transforms under $SU(2)_R$ but the heavier two families do not. The Higgs scalar sector consists only of an $SU(2)_L$ doublet and an $SU(2)_R$ doublet. The $u,d$ quarks and the electron, as well as the neutrinos, are massless at tree level, but become massive radiatively through their interactions with a simple dark sector. Verifiable consequences include $Z'$ and Higgs properties, neutrino mixing and rare decays, etc.
We explore the intermediate dark matter mass regime of the inert Higgs doublet model (IHDM) by extending the model with three copies of right handed singlet neutrinos. The in built discrete $Z_2$ symmetry of the model allows these right handed neutrinos to couple to the usual lepton doublets through the inert Higgs doublet allowing the possibility of radiative neutrino mass in the scotogenic fashion. Apart from generating non-zero neutrino mass, such an extension can also revive the intermediate dark matter mass regime, between $W$ boson mass to a few hundred GeV's where pure IHDM can not give…
Non-zero neutrino mass and dark matter cast a shadow over the success of the Standard Model (SM) of Particle Physics. The most straightforward extension of the SM to explain these two phenomena is the Scotogenic model, where the SM particle spectrum extends with three isospin singlet right-handed neutrinos and one doublet scalar while all of these being odd under $Z_2$ symmetry. In this work, we have considered the lightest right-handed neutrino as the dark matter candidate and freeze-out mechanism for producing observed dark matter relic density. The observed dark matter relic density, neutri…
Realistic neutrino mixing is achieved at one-loop level radiatively using $S3\times Z_2$ symmetry. The model comprises of two right-handed neutrinos, maximally mixed to produce the structure of the left-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrix characterized by $θ_{13}=0$, $θ_{23}=π/4$ and any value of $θ_{12}^0$ particular to the Tribimaximal (TBM), Bimaximal (BM) and Golden Ratio (GR) or other mixings. A small deviation from this maximal mixing between the two right-handed neutrinos could generate non-zero $θ_{13}$, shifts of the atmospheric mixing angle $θ_{23}$ from $π/4$ and also could correct…
The scotogenic model is the Standard Model (SM) with Z_2 symmetry and the addition of Z_2 odd right-handed Majorana neutrinos and SU(2)_L doublet scalar fields. We have extended the original scotogenic model by an additional Z_2 odd singlet scalar field that plays a role in dark matter. In our model, the asymmetries of the lepton and Z_2 odd doublet scalar are simultaneously produced through CP-violating right-handed neutrino decays. While the former is converted into baryon asymmetry through the sphaleron process, the latter is relaid to the DM density through the decay of SU(2)_L doublet sca…
We present a scotogenic model, i.e. a one-loop neutrino mass model with dark right-handed neutrino gauge singlets and one inert dark scalar gauge doublet $η$, which has symmetries that lead to co-bimaximal mixing, i.e. to an atmospheric mixing angle $θ_{23} = 45^\circ$ and to a $CP$-violating phase $δ= \pm π/2$, while the mixing angle $θ_{13}$ remains arbitrary. The symmetries consist of softly broken lepton numbers $L_α$ ($α= e,μ,τ$), a non-standard $CP$ symmetry, and three $Z_2$ symmetries. We indicate two possibilities for extending the model to the quark sector. Since the model has, beside…
We study the minimal scotogenic model constituting an additional inert Higgs doublet and three sets of right-handed neutrinos. The scotogenic model connects dark matter, baryon asymmetry of the Universe and neutrino oscillation data. In our work, we obtain baryogenesis by the decay of TeV scale heavy neutral singlet fermion ($N_{2}$). We primarily focus on the intermediate-mass region of dark matter within $M_W<M_{DM}\le550$ GeV, where observed relic density is suppressed due to co-annihilation processes. We consider thermal as well as the non-thermal approach of dark matter production and exp…
The scotogenic neutrino seesaw model is a minimal extension of the standard model with three $\mathbb{Z}_2$-odd right-handed singlet fermions $N$ and one $\mathbb{Z}_2$-odd Higgs doublet $η$ that can accommodate the tiny neutrino mass and provide a dark matter candidate in a unified picture. Due to lack of experimental signatures for electroweak scale new physics, it is appealing to assume these new particles are well above the electroweak scale and take the effective field theory approach to study their effects on low energy observables. In this work we apply the recently developed functional…
We study the gauged $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ scotogenic model with emphasis on latest measurement of LHCb $R_{K^{(*)}}$ anomaly and AMS-02 positron excess. In this model, neutrino masses are induced at one-loop level with $Z_2$-odd particles, i.e., right-handed neutrinos $N_\ell(\ell=e,μ,τ)$ and inert scalar doublet $η$ inside the loop. Meanwhile, the gauged $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ symmetry is broken spontaneously by the scalar singlet $S$, resulting to the massive gauge boson $Z'$. Provided certain couplings to quarks induced by heavy vector-like quarks, the gauge boson $Z'$ would contribute to the transiti…
In the recently proposed dark left-right gauge model (DLRM) of particle interactions, the usual left-handed lepton doublet (nu,e)_L transforming under SU(2)_L is accompanied by the UNUSUAL right-handed fermion doublet (n,e)_R transforming under SU(2)_R, where n_R is NOT the Dirac mass partner of nu_L. In this scenario, whereas nu_L is certainly a neutrino, n_R should be considered a SCOTINO, i.e. a dark-matter fermion. Variants of this basic idea are discussed, including its minimal SCOTOGENIC realization.
The unifiable supersymmetric left-right model where the neutral fermion $n$ in the $SU(2)_R$ doublet $(n,e)_R$ is a dark-matter candidate, is shown to have the requisite particle content for the neutrino $ν$ in the $SU(2)_L$ doublet $(ν,e)_L$ to acquire a small radiative Majorana mass from dark matter, i.e. scotogenic from the Greek "scotos" meaning darkness. As a result, there are at least three coexisting stable dark-matter particles with different interactions. We study their possible phenomenological impact on present and future experiments.
Generalized CP symmetry of order 4 (CP4) is surprisingly powerful in shaping scalar and quark sectors of multi-Higgs models. Here, we extend this framework to the neutrino sector. We build two simple Majorana neutrino mass models with unbroken CP4, which are analogous to Ma's scotogenic model. Both models use three Higgs doublets and two or three right-handed (RH) neutrinos. The minimal CP4 symmetric scotogenic model uses only two RH neutrinos, leads to three non-zero light neutrino masses, and contains a built-in mechanism to further suppress them via phase alignment. With three RH neutrinos,…
We study a minimal extension of the Standard Model by introducing three right-handed neutrinos and a new scotogenic scalar doublet, in which the mass splittings between neutral and charged components are responsible for the $W$-boson mass newly measured by the CDF collaboration. This model can not only generate non-vanishing Majorana neutrino masses via the interaction of right-handed neutrinos and scotogenic scalars, but also explain the Universe's missing matter in the form of FIMP dark matter. We also study the influence of the mass splitting on the first order electroweak phase transition,…
In this paper, we investigate the mutual impact between the dark matter (DM) requirements and the scalar sector in the scale invariant (SI) scotogenic model. The model is motivated by the neutrino mass and DM within a classically SI framework. It is a SI generalization of the scotogenic model, where the standard model (SM) is extended by a real singlet, an inert scalar doublet and three Majorana singlet fermions, where the lightest one ($N_{1}$) could play the DM candidate role. In addition to the annihilation channels $N_{1}N_{1}\rightarrow\ell_α\ell_β,ν_α\barν_β$, the DM can be annihilated v…
When a small vacuum expectation value of Higgs triplet ($v_Δ$) in the type-II seesaw model is required to explain neutrino oscillation data, a fine-tuning issue occurs on the mass-dimension lepton-number-violation (LNV) scalar coupling. Using the scotogenic approach, we investigate how a small LNV term is arisen through a radiative correction when an $Z_2$-odd vector-like lepton ($X$) and an $Z_2$-odd right-handed Majorana lepton ($N$) are introduced to the type-II seesaw model. Due to the dark matter (DM) direct detection constraints, the available DM candidate is the right-handed Majorana pa…
We study an extension of the minimal gauged $L_μ-L_τ$ model in order to explain the anomalous magnetic moments of muon and electron simultaneously. Presence of an additional scalar doublet $η$ and an in-built $Z_2$ symmetry under which the right handed singlet fermions and $η$ are odd, leads to light neutrino mass in scotogenic fashion along with a stable dark matter candidate. In spite of the possibility of having positive and negative contributions to $(g-2)$ from vector boson and charged scalar loops respectively, the minimal scotogenic $L_μ-L_τ$ model can not explain muon and electron $(g-…
If neutrinos are truly Dirac fermions, the smallness of their masses may still be natural if certain symmetries exist beyond those of the standard model of quarks and leptons. We perform a systematic study of how this may occur at tree level and in one loop. We also propose a scotogenic version of the left-right gauge model with naturally small Dirac neutrino masses in one loop.
We present a class of left-right symmetric models where Dirac as well as Majorana mass terms of neutrinos can arise at one-loop level in a scotogenic fashion: with dark matter particles going inside the loop. We show the possibility of naturally light right handed neutrinos that can have interesting implications at neutrinoless double beta decay experiments as well as cosmology. Apart from a stable dark matter candidate stabilised by a remnant $Z_2$ symmetry, one can also have a long lived keV sterile neutrino dark matter in these models. This class of models can have very different collider s…
Decay processes $B\rightarrow D_{\left(s\right)}^{\left(*\right)}h$ ($h=π,ρ$) are studied in the framework of the confined covariant quark model using the naïve factorization assumption. We observe that the theoretical results on branching fractions have tendency to systematically exceed the experimental numbers. Such a behavior has already been seen for similar processes by other authors.
We study the possibility of generating tiny Dirac masses of neutrinos in Left-Right Symmetric Model (LRSM) without requiring the existence of any additional symmetries. The charged fermions acquire masses through a universal seesaw mechanism due to the presence of additional vector like fermions. The neutrinos acquire a one-loop Dirac mass from the same additional vector like charged leptons without requiring any additional discrete symmetries. The model can also be extended by an additional $Z_2$ symmetry in order to have a scotogenic version of this scenario predicting a stable dark matter c…
We have performed the calculations for the nonleptonic $Ξ_b^- \rightarrow π^- \ Ξ_c^0 (2790) \left(J=\frac{1}{2}\right)$ and $Ξ_b^- \rightarrow π^- \ Ξ_c^0 (2815) \left(J=\frac{3}{2}\right)$ and the same reactions replacing the $π^-$ by a $D_s^-$. At the same time we evaluate the semileptonic rates for $Ξ_b^- \rightarrow \barν_l l \ Ξ_c^0 (2790)$ and $Ξ_b^- \rightarrow \barν_l l \ Ξ_c^0 (2815)$. We look at the reactions from the perspective that the $Ξ_c^0 (2790)$ and $Ξ_c^0 (2815)$ resonances are dynamically generated from the pseudoscalar-baryon and vector-baryon interactions. We evaluate ra…
The radiative baryonic decay $\mathcal{B}^{*}\left(\frac{3}{2}\right)\to\mathcal{B}\left(\frac{1}{2}\right)+γ$ is a magnetic dipole $(M1)$ transition. It requires the transition magnetic moment $μ_{\mathcal{B}\left(3/2\right)\to\mathcal{B}\left(1/2\right)}$. The transition magnetic moments for the helicities $1/2$ and $3/2$ are evaluated in the frame work of constituent quark model in which the intrinsic spin and the magnetic moments of quarks $u,d$ and $s$ play a key role. Within this framework, the radiative decays $Δ^{+}\to p +γ$, $Σ^{*0}\to Λ+γ$, $Σ^{*+}\to Σ^{+}+γ$ and $Ξ^{*0}\to Ξ^{0}+γ$…
We propose an effective left-right-right-left model with a parity breaking scale around a few TeV. One of the main achievements of the model is that the mirror fermions as well as the mirror gauge sector simultaneously could be at TeV scale. It is shown that the most dangerous quadratic divergence of the SM Higgs boson involving the top quark in the loop is naturally suppressed, and begins at three loop. The model postpones the fine-tuning of the mass of the SM Higgs boson up to a sufficiently high scale. The model explains the smallness of the neutrino masses whether they are Dirac or Majoran…
In a class of left-right symmetric models for linear seesaw, a neutrinoless double beta decay induced by the left- and right-handed charged currents together will only depend on the breaking details of left-right and electroweak symmetries. This neutrinoless double beta decay can reach the experimental sensitivities if the right-handed charged gauge boson is below the 100 TeV scale.
The breaking of parity, a fundamental symmetry between left and right is best understood in the framework of left-right symmetric extension of the standard model. We show that the production of a heavy right-handed neutrino at the proposed Large Hadron-Electron Collider (LHeC) could give us the most simple and direct hint of the scale of this breaking in left-right symmetric theories. This production mode gives a lepton number violating signal with $ΔL=2$ which is very clean and has practically no standard model background. We highlight that the right-handed nature of $W_R$ exchange which defi…
The decays of $η$ and $η^\prime$ mesons provide unique opportunities for testing the properties of low energy Quantum Chromodynamics and for the search of new physics beyond the Standard Model. However, recent experimental results on the rare decays of $η^{\left(\prime\right)}\rightarrowπ^0\left(η\right)γγ$ cannot be self-consistently described by the combination of the Vector Meson Dominance and Linear Sigma Model employing the same set of parameters. We show that this tension can be attributed to the presence of a leptophobic dark photon $\mathcal{B}$, and find representative values of the p…
In this work, we propose minimal realizations for generating Dirac neutrino masses in the context of a right-handed abelian gauge extension of the Standard Model. Utilizing only $U(1)_R$ symmetry, we address and analyze the possibilities of Dirac neutrino mass generation via (a) \textit{tree-level seesaw} and (b) \textit{radiative correction at the one-loop level}. One of the presented radiative models implements the attractive \textit{scotogenic} model that links neutrino mass with Dark Matter (DM), where the stability of the DM is guaranteed from a residual discrete symmetry emerging from $U…
Strong decays of $X\left( 3915\right) $ are analyzed from two quark model descriptions of $X\left( 3915\right) $, a conventional one in terms of the Cornell potential and an unconventional one from a Generalized Screened potential. We conclude that the experimental suppression of the OZI allowed decay $X\left( 3915\right) \rightarrow D\overline{D}$ might be explained in both cases as due to the momentum dependence of the decay amplitude. However, the experimental significance of the OZI forbidden decay $X\left( 3915\right) \rightarrowωJ/ψ$ could favor an unconventional description.
We give exact formulas for the right-handed analog of the CKM matrix in the minimal Left-Right symmetric theory, for the case when the Left-Right symmetry is generalized Parity as in the original version of the theory. We derive its explicit form and give a physical reason for the known and surprising fact that the right-handed mixing angles are close in value to the CKM ones, in spite of the Left-Right symmetry being badly broken in nature. We exemplify our results on the production of the right-handed charged gauge boson and the computation of the neutral K meson mass difference.
