The radiative baryonic decay $\mathcal{B}^{*}\left(\frac{3}{2}\right)\to\mathcal{B}\left(\frac{1}{2}\right)+γ$ is a magnetic dipole $(M1)$ transition. It requires the transition magnetic moment $μ_{\mathcal{B}\left(3/2\right)\to\mathcal{B}\left(1/2\right)}$. The transition magnetic moments for the helicities $1/2$ and $3/2$ are evaluated in the frame work of constituent quark model in which the intrinsic spin and the magnetic moments of quarks $u,d$ and $s$ play a key role. Within this framework, the radiative decays $Δ^{+}\to p +γ$, $Σ^{*0}\to Λ+γ$, $Σ^{*+}\to Σ^{+}+γ$ and $Ξ^{*0}\to Ξ^{0}+γ$ are analyzed in detail. The branching ratio for these decays is found to be in good agreement with the corresponding experimental values.
The baryon form factor of charged pions arises since isospin symmetry is broken with unequal up and down quark masses, $m_d>m_u$, as well as electromagnetic effects. We obtain estimates for this basic property in two phenomenological ways: from simple constituent quark models, as well as from fitting the $e^+e^- \to π^+ π^-$ data. All our methods yield the result that the baryon mean square radius, extracted from the slope of the form factor, is positive for $π^+$, hence a picture where the outer region has a net baryon, and the inner region a net antibaryon density, both compensating each oth…
The spectroscopy of light, strange baryons have been an important aspect with still unknown resonances and intrinsic baryonic properties. The present document is focused on the $Δ$ baryons unlike earlier work, here all the four isospin states have been separately obtained treating u and d quarks with different constituent masses. The theoretical framework for calculating the resonance masses is hypercentral Constituent Quark Model (hCQM). The confining potential is taken as of linear form alongwith the addition of spin-dependent as well as first order correction term. The results obtained have…
The baryonic form factor of charged pions is studied in detail in the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with constituent quarks, where the spontaneously broken chiral symmetry is the key dynamical ingredient guaranteeing the would-be Goldstone boson nature of the pseudoscalar mesons octet. In general, this form factor arises when the isospin symmetry is broken, which is the case if the $u$ and $d$ quark masses are split, as in the real world, or if the electromagnetic effects were taken into account. We obtain estimates for this basic property of the pion resulting from the quark mass splitting for a …
The magnetic moments of baryon decuplet are studied in vacuum as well as in the symmetric nuclear matter at finite temperature using a chiral SU(3) quark mean field model approach. The contributions coming from the valence quarks, quark sea and the orbital angular momentum of the quark sea have been considered to calculate magnetic moment of decuplet baryons. The decuplet baryon masses decrease, whereas, the magnetic moments increase significantly with the rise of baryonic density of the symmetric nuclear medium. This is because of the reason that constituent quark magnetic moment and the quar…
Employing a field dependent three-momentum cut-off regularization technique, we study the phase structure and mesonic masses using the $2$-flavour Nambu-Jona Lasinio model at finite temperature and density in presence of arbitrary external magnetic field. This approach is then applied to incorporate the effects of the anomalous magnetic moment(AMM) of quarks on constituent quark mass and thermodynamic observables as a function of temperature/baryonic density. The critical temperature for transition from chiral symmetry broken to the restored phase is observed to decrease with the external magn…
