Additive energy of regular measures in one and higher dimensions, and the fractal uncertainty principle

We obtain new bounds on the additive energy of (Ahlfors-David type) regular measures in both one and higher dimensions, which implies expansion results for sums and products of the associated regular sets, as well as more general nonlinear functions of these sets. As a corollary of the higher-dimensional results we obtain some new cases of the fractal uncertainty principle in odd dimensions.

Some problems on the boundary of fractal geometry and additive combinatorics

This paper is an exposition, with some new applications, of our results on the growth of entropy of convolutions. We explain the main result on $\mathbb{R}$, and derive, via a linearization argument, an analogous result for the action of the affine group on $\mathbb{R}$. Additive properties of fractal sets on the parabola

Let $0 \leq s \leq 1$, and let $\mathbb{P} := \{(t,t^{2}) \in \mathbb{R}^{2} : t \in [-1,1]\}$. If $K \subset \mathbb{P}$ is a closed set with $\dim_{\mathrm{H}} K = s$, it is not hard to see that $\dim_{\mathrm{H}} (K + K) \geq 2s$. Fractal Uncertainty Principle with Explicit Exponent

We prove an explicit formula for the dependence of the exponent in the fractal uncertainty principle of Bourgain-Dyatlov on the dimension and on the regularity constant for the regular set. In particular, this implies an explicit essential spectral gap for convex co-compact hyperbolic surfaces when the Hausdorff dimension of the limit set is close to 1.

Fractal uncertainty principle for discrete Cantor sets with random alphabets

In this paper, we investigate the fractal uncertainty principle (FUP) for discrete Cantor sets, which are determined by an alphabet from a base of digits. Consider the base of M digits and the alphabets of cardinality A such that all the corresponding Cantor sets have a fixed dimension 0<log A/log M<2/3. On summatory functions of additive functions and regular variation

An overview of results and problems concerning the asymptotic behaviour for summatory functions of a certain class of additive functions is given. The class of functions in question involves Karamata's regular variation. Some new Abelian and Tauberian results for additive functions of the form $F(n) = \sum_{p^α||n}αh(p)$ are given.

Finite Point Configurations and the Regular Value Theorem in a Fractal setting

In this article, we study two problems concerning the size of the set of finite point configurations generated by a compact set $E\subset \mathbb{R}^d$. The first problem concerns how the Lebesgue measure or the Hausdorff dimension of the finite point configuration set depends on that of $E$. Dolgopyat's method and the fractal uncertainty principle

We show a fractal uncertainty principle with exponent $1/2-δ+ε$, $ε>0$, for Ahflors-David regular subsets of $\mathbb R$ of dimension $δ\in (0,1)$. This improves over the volume bound $1/2-δ$, and $ε$ is estimated explicitly in terms of the regularity constant of the set. The proof uses a version of techniques originating in the works of Dolgopyat, Naud, and Stoyanov on spectral radii of transfer operators. A higher dimensional Bourgain-Dyatlov fractal uncertainty principle

We establish a version of the fractal uncertainty principle, obtained by Bourgain and Dyatlov in 2016, in higher dimensions. The Fourier support is limited to sets $Y\subset \mathbb{R}^d$ which can be covered by finitely many products of $δ$-regular sets in one dimension, but relative to arbitrary axes. Our results remain true if $Y$ is distorted by diffeomorphisms. Our method combines the original approach by Bourgain and Dyatlov, in the more quantitative 2017 rendition by Jin and Zhang, with Cartan set techniques.
