Extensive searches to probe the particle nature of dark matter (DM) have been going on for some decades now but, so far, no conclusive evidence has been found. Among various options, the Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMP) remains one of the prime possibilities as candidates for DM near the TeV scale. Taking a phenomenological view, such null results may be explained for a generic WIMP in a Higgs-portal scenario if we allow the light-quark Yukawa couplings to assume non-Standard Model (non-SM)-like values. This follows from a cancellation among different terms in the DM-nucleon scattering which can, in turn, lead to a vanishingly small direct-detection cross section. It might also lead to isospin violation in the DM-nucleon scattering. Such non-SM values of light-quark Yukawa couplings may be probed in the high luminosity run of the LHC.
We elucidate a cancellation mechanism for the electric dipole moment of the electron in the general two Higgs doublet model. The impressive improvement by the ACME Collaboration in 2018 suggests the presence of a new electron Yukawa coupling that brings in exquisite cancellations among dangerous diagrams, broadening the solution space for electroweak baryogenesis driven by an extra top Yukawa coupling. The cancellation mechanism calls for the new Yukawa couplings to have hierarchical structures that echo the observed pattern of the Standard Model Yukawa couplings.
We consider a simple Higgs portal dark matter model, where the Standard Model is supplemented with a complex scalar whose imaginary part plays the role of WIMP dark matter (DM). We show that the direct DM detection cross section vanishes at tree level and zero momentum transfer due to a cancellation by virtue of a softly broken symmetry. This cancellation is operative for any mediator masses. As a result, our electroweak scale dark matter satisfies all of the phenomenological constraints quite naturally.
We investigate the viability of predictive schemes for quark-lepton Yukawa ratios and nucleon decay in non-supersymmetric SU(5) Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) where neutrino masses are generated by a type II seesaw mechanism. The scalar sector of the considered scenario contains 5-, 24- and 45-dimensional representations plus a 15-dimensional representation for realising the type II seesaw. Predictions for the ratios of the quark and lepton Yukawa couplings emerge when the relevant entries of the Yukawa matrices are generated from single joint GUT operators (i.e. under the condition of "single …
Constraining Yukawa-type interaction and coupling constant of axionlike particles to nucleons from recent measurement of the Casimir-Polder interaction
We show that chiral symmetry is responsible for large cancellations in the two-pion exchange nucleon-nucleon interaction, which are similar to those occuring in free pion-nucleon scattering.
We investigate the predictions for various nucleon decay rates and their ratios in non-supersymmetric SU(5) Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) where the masses of the third and second family down-type quarks and charged leptons each stem dominantly from single GUT operators. Extending the Georgi-Glashow SU(5) model by a 45-dimensional GUT-Higgs representation, the gauge couplings can meet at the high scale $M_\mathrm{GUT}$ and the GUT scale predictions $y_τ/y_b = 3/2$ and $y_μ/y_s = 9/2$ can emerge within single operator dominance. Explaining the observed neutrino masses via the type I seesaw mecha…
We augment the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with a gauged family-dependent $U(1)$ to reproduce Yukawa textures compatible with experiment. In the simplest model with one extra chiral electroweak singlet field, acceptable textures require this $U(1)$ to be anomalous. The cancellation of its anomalies by a generic Green-Schwarz mechanism requires $\sin^2θ_w=3/8$ at the string scale, suggesting a superstring origin for the standard model.
We present the results for three-loop beta-functions for Yukawa couplings of heavy Standard Model fermions calculated within the unbroken phase of the model. The calculation is carried out with the help of the MINCER program in a general linear gauge, and the final result is independent of the gauge-fixing parameters. In order to calculate three-point functions, we made use of infrared rearrangement (IRR) trick. Due to the chiral structure of the SM a careful treatment of loops with fermions is required to perform the calculation. It turns out that gauge anomaly cancellation in the SM allows u…
To explain the observed neutrino masses through the seesaw mechanism, a supersymmetric generalization of the Standard Model should include heavy right-handed neutrino supermultiplets. Then the neutrino Yukawa couplings can induce CP violation in the lepton sector. In this paper, we compute the contribution of these CP violating terms to lepton electric dipole moments. We introduce a new formalism that makes use of supersymmetry to expose the GIM cancellations. In the region of small tan beta, we find a different result from that given previously by Ellis, Hisano, Raidal, and Shimizu. We confir…
Analyzing the neutrino Yukawa effect in the freeze-out process of a generic dark matter candidate with right-handed neutrino portal, we identify the parameter regions satisfying the observed dark matter relic density as well as the current Fermi-LAT and H.E.S.S. limits and the future CTA reach on gamma-ray signals. In this scenario the dark matter couples to the Higgs boson at one-loop level and thus could be detected by spin-independent nucleonic scattering for a reasonable range of the relevant parameters.
We calculate, with several corrections, the non-relativistic binding by Higgs exchange and gluon exchange between six top and six anti-top quarks (actually replaced by left-handed b quarks from time to time). The remarkable result is that, within our calculational accuracy of the order of 14% in the top quark Yukawa coupling g_t, the experimental running top-quark Yukawa coupling g_t = 0.935 happens to have just that value which gives a perfect cancellation of the unbound mass = 12 top-quark masses by this binding energy. In other words the bound state is massless to the accuracy of our calcul…
We suggest simple ways of implementing Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry to solve the strong CP problem in renormalizable SUSY $SO(10)$ models with a minimal Yukawa sector. Realistic fermion mass generation requires that a second pair of Higgs doublets survive down to the PQ scale. We show how unification of gauge couplings can be achieved in this context. Higgsino mediated proton decay rate is strongly suppressed by a factor of $(M_{\rm PQ}/M_{\rm GUT})^2$, which enables all SUSY particles to have masses of order TeV. With TeV scale SUSY spectrum, $p \rightarrow \overlineν K^+$ decay rate is expecte…
Double meson production of the eta and pion at the threshold region is investigated in order to determine chiral property of the nucleon. The eta can be used as a probe for the negative parity nucleon $N^* \equiv N^*(1535)$ produced in the intermediate state. The coupling of the low energy pion in the final state is then used to extract the sign of the Yukawa coupling, $\gpRR$, which distinguishes the two realizations of chiral symmetry, either naive or mirror, for the nucleon.
The nucleon-nucleon problem is studied as a six-quark system in a nonrelativistic chiral constituent quark model where the Hamiltonian contains a linear confinement and a pseudoscalar meson (Goldstone boson) exchange interaction between the quarks. This hyperfine interaction has a long-range Yukawa-type part, depending on the mass of the exchanged meson and a short-range part, mainly responsible for the good description of the baryon spectra.
The naturalness of electroweak scale in the models of type-I seesaw mechanism with ${\cal O}(1)$ Yukawa couplings requires TeV scale masses for the fermion singlets. In this case, the tiny neutrino masses have to arise from the cancellations within the seesaw formula which are arranged by fine-tuned correlations between the Yukawa couplings and the masses of fermion singlets. We motivate such correlations through the framework of discrete symmetries. In the case of three Majorana fermion singlets, it is shown that the exact cancellation arranged by the discrete symmetries in seesaw formula nec…
After a brief discussion of the meaning of the potential in quantum mechanics, we examine the results of the Yukawa model (scalar meson exchange) for the nucleon-nucleon interaction in three different dynamical frameworks: the non-relativistic dynamics of the Schrodinger equation, the relativistic quantum mechanics of the Bethe-Salpeter and Light-Front equations and the lattice solution of the Quantum Field Theory, obtained in the quenched approximation.
The conjoined production at the LHC of single top and Higgs boson via $t$-channel weak boson exchange is ideal to probe the top-quark Yukawa coupling, due to a delicate cancellation between the amplitudes with the $htt$ and the $hWW$ couplings. We find that the top quark is produced with $100\%$ polarization in the leading order, and its quantum state is determined by the spin-vector direction in the $t$-quark rest frame. We relate the spin direction to the four-momenta of the top, Higgs and a jet in the helicity amplitude framework. We identify a polarization asymmetry that is sensitive to CP…
We obtain constraints on the Yukawa-type corrections to Newton's gravitational law and on the coupling constant of axionlike particles to nucleons following from the experiment on measuring the Casimir force between an Au-coated microsphere and a silicon carbide plate. For this purpose, both the Yukawa-type force and the force due to two-axion exchange between nucleons are calculated in the experimental configuration. In the interaction range of Yukawa force exceeding 1 nm and for axion masses above 17.8 eV, the obtained constraints are much stronger than those found previously from measuring …
The chiral quark model posits pseudoscalar and vector meson couplings to constituent quarks. The parity violating meson-quark couplings lead to anapole moments and form factors of the nucleons. These arise both as parity violating meson loop fluctuations as well as exchange currents and polarization currents that are induced by the parity violating interaction between quarks. Because of cancellations between the different contributions the magnitude of the calculated anapole moments is only of the order $\sim 10^{-8}$ and is determined mainly by magnitude of the parity-violating meson-nucleon …
Yukawa couplings in the Lorentz- and $CPT$-violating Standard Model Extension (SME) induce quantum contributions to the electromagnetic moments of quarks, which are calculated in the present paper and then used to define contributions to electromagnetic moments of nucleons. High-sensitivity measurements of the proton and neutron electromagnetic moments then yield constrains on SME coefficients, reaching bounds as restrictive as $10^{-12}$. This approach notably grants access to SME effects from the second and third quark families.
The constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model with mu>0 supplemented by an `asymptotic' Yukawa coupling quasi-unification condition, which allows an acceptable b-quark mass, is reinvestigated. Imposing updated constraints from the cold dark matter abundance in the universe, B physics, the muon anomalous magnetic moment, and the mass mh of the lightest neutral CP-even Higgs boson, we find that the allowed parameter space is quite limited but not unnaturally small with the cold dark matter abundance suppressed only via neutralino-stau coannihilations. The lightest neutralino with mass in…
We analyse the CP violation in supersymmetric models with Hermitian Yukawa and trilinear couplings. We show that Hermitian Yukawa matrices can be implemented in supersymmetric models with SU(3) flavor symmetry. An important feature of this class of models is that the supersymmetric contributions to the EDM of the neutron and mercury atom are suppressed. In this framework, epsilon_K can be saturated by a small non--universality of the soft scalar masses through the gluino contribution. We perform a detailed analysis for the supersymmetric contributions to epsilon'/epsilon. Although, the gluino …
We apply light-front quantization, Pauli-Villars regularization, and numerical techniques to the nonperturbative solution of the dressed-fermion problem in Yukawa theory in 3+1 dimensions. The solution is developed as a Fock-state expansion truncated to include at most one fermion and two bosons. The basis includes a negative-metric heavy boson and a negative-metric heavy fermion in order to provide the necessary cancellations of ultraviolet divergences. The integral equations for the Fock-state wave functions are solved by reducing them to effective one-boson--one-fermion equations for eigens…
Higgs boson production in association with a charm-quark jet proceeds through two different mechanisms - one that involves the charm Yukawa coupling and the other that involves direct Higgs coupling to gluons. The interference of the two contributions requires a helicity flip and, therefore, cannot be computed with massless charm quarks. In this paper, we consider QCD corrections to the interference contribution starting from charm-gluon collisions with massive charm quarks and taking the massless limit, $m_c \to 0$. The behavior of QCD cross sections in that limit differs from expectations ba…
We present the numerical solution of the leading order QCD evolution equation for the orbital angular momentum distributions of quarks and gluons and discuss its implications for the nucleon spin sum rule. We observe that at small-$x$, the gluon helicity and orbital angular momentum distributions are roughly of the same magnitude but with opposite signs, indicating a significant cancellation between them. A similar cancellation occurs also in the quark sector. We explain analytically the reason for this cancellation.
We study the interactions of an elementary pion with a nucleon made of constituent quarks and show that the enforcement of chiral symmetry requires the use of a two-body operator, whose form does not depend on the choice of the pion-quark coupling. The coordinate space NN effective potential in the pion exchange channel is given as a sum of terms involving two gradients, that operate on both the usual Yukawa function and the confining potential. We also consider an application to the case of quarks bound by a harmonic potential and show that corrections due to the symmetry are important.
In the framework of the chiral quark-soliton model of the nucleon we investigate the properties of the polarized quark distribution. In particular we analyse the so called anomalous difference between the representations of the quark distribution functions in terms of occupied and non-occupied quark states. By an explicit analytical calculation it is shown that this anomaly is absent in the polarized isoscalar distribution Δu + Δd, which is ultaviolet finite. In the case of the polarized isovector quark distribution Δu - Δd the anomaly can be cancelled by a Pauli-Villars subtraction which is a…
We investigate the strange and flavor-singlet electric and magnetic form factors of the nucleon within the framework of the SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model. Isospin symmetry is assumed and the symmetry-conserving SU(3) quantization is employed, rotational and strange quark mass corrections being included. For the experiments G0, A4, and HAPPEX-II we predict the quantities $G^{0}_E + βG^{0}_M$ and $G^{\rm s}_E + βG^{\rm s}_M$. The dependence of the results on the parameters of the model and the treatment of the Yukawa asymptotic behavior of the soliton are investigated.
We consider the nucleon-nucleon potential in quenched and partially-quenched QCD. The leading one-meson exchange contribution to the potential is found to fall off exponentially at long-distances, in contrast with the Yukawa-type behaviour found in QCD. This unphysical component of the two-nucleon potential has important implications for the extraction of nuclear properties from lattice simulations.
We argue that the large-$\Nc$ behaviour of the Yukawa couplings in the Skyrme model involves issues more subtle than the vanishing of linear fluctuations needed for classical stability of the skyrmion. The chiral fluctuations about the skyrmion must be quantized in order to reach a conclusion. An improved quantization procedure allows us to confront this question directly. The pion-nucleon coupling constants $\gcup$ (CP conserving) and $\bgcup$ (CP violating) are calculated in the large-$\Nc$, three-flavour Skyrme model by direct evaluation of the leading matrix elements appearing in the LSZ r…
The simple model describing charge independence and charge symmetry breaking of the pion-nucleon coupling constant is proposed. The model, which has simple physical meaning and foundation, suggests directly proportional dependence of the pion-nucleon coupling constants on the masses of interacting nucleons and pions. Charge dependence of the pion-nucleon coupling constant and the $^{1}S_{0}$-state low-energy nucleon-nucleon ($NN$) scattering parameters are studied on the basis of the Yukawa meson theory. The values of the $np$ and $nn$ interaction characteristics calculated by the proposed mod…
Electroweak baryogenesis can be driven by the top quark in a general two Higgs doublet model with extra Yukawa couplings. Higgs quartics provide the first order phase transition, while extra top Yukawa coupling $ρ_{tt}$ can fuel the cosmic baryon asymmetry through the $λ_t\,{\rm Im}\,ρ_{tt}$ product, with flavor-changing $ρ_{tc}$ coupling as backup. The impressive ACME 2018 bound on the electron electric dipole moment calls for an extra electron coupling $ρ_{ee}$ for exquisite cancellation among dangerous diagrams, broadening the baryogenesis solution space. The mechanism suggests that extra Y…
We evaluate the two pion exchange contribution to the nucleon-nucleon potential in configuration space using a "minimal chiral model" containing only pions and nucleons. We argue that this model has nowadays a rather firm conceptual basis, which entitles it to become a standard ingredient of any modern potential. The main features of this model is that the scalar-isoscalar component of the interaction is relatively small, due to cancellations between large terms, and fails to reproduce the intermediate range attraction in the central channel. We show that chiral symmetry is the responsible for…
We propose a E_6 inspired supersymmetric model with a non-Abelian discrete flavor symmetry; SU(3)_c x SU(2)_W x U(1)_Y x U(1)_X x S_4 x Z_2. In our scenario, the additional abelian gauge symmetry; U(1)_X, not only solves the mu-problem in the minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model(MSSM), but also requires new exotic fields which play an important role in solving flavor puzzles. If our exotic quarks can be embedded into a S_4 triplet, which corresponds to the number of the generation, one finds that dangerous proton decay can be well-suppressed. Hence, it might be expected that the generation st…
The strange vector form factors are evaluated in the range between $Q^2=0$ and $Q^2=1\ \mbox{GeV}^2$ in the framework of the SU(3) chiral quark-soliton model (or semi-bosonized SU(3) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model). The rotational $1/N_c$ and $m_s$ corrections are taken into account up to linear order. Taking care of a proper Yukawa-tail of the kaonic cloud, we get $\langle r^{2}\rangle^{\rm Sachs}_{s}=-0.095\; \mbox{fm}^2$ and $μ_s = -0.68\;μ_N$. The results are compared with several different models.
The one loop contribution to the lepton flavor violating decay $h^0\rightarrow μτ$ of the SM-like neutral Higgs (LFVHD) in the 3-3-1 model with neutral lepton is calculated using the unitary gauge. We have checked in detail that the total contribution is exactly finite, and the divergent cancellations happen separately in two parts of active neutrinos and exotic heavy leptons. By numerical investigation, we have indicated that the one-loop contribution of the active neutrinos is very suppressed while that of exotic leptons is rather large. The branching ratio of the LFVHD strongly depends on t…
Flavor mixing in the quark-squark-gluino coupling is studied for the minimal SU(5) SUGRA-GUT model and applied to evaluation of the nucleon lifetime. All off-diagonal (generation mixing) elements of Yukawa coupling matrices and of squark/slepton mass matrices are included in solving numerically one-loop renormalization group equations for MSSM parameters, and the parameter region consistent with the radiative electroweak symmetry breaking condition is searched. It is shown that the flavor mixing in the gluino coupling for a large $\tanβ$ is of the same order of magnitude as the corresponding K…
The problem of bound states in effective field theories is studied. A rescaled version of nonrelativistic effective field theory is formulated which makes the velocity power counting of operators manifest. Results obtained using the rescaled theory are compared with known results from NRQCD. The same ideas are then applied to study Yukawa bound states in 1+1 and 3+1 dimensions, and to analyze when the Yukawa potential can be replaced by a delta-function potential. The implications of these results for the study of nucleon-nucleon scattering in chiral perturbation theory is discussed.
Making use of the recently developed chiral power counting for the physics of nuclear matter [1,2], we evaluate the in-medium chiral quark condensate up to next-to-leading order for both symmetric nuclear matter and neutron matter. Our calculation includes the full in-medium iteration of the leading order local and one-pion exchange nucleon-nucleon interactions. Interestingly, we find a cancellation between the contributions stemming from the quark mass dependence of the nucleon mass appearing in the in-medium nucleon-nucleon interactions. Only the contributions originating from the explicit q…
We consider recent progress in constraining the axion-nucleon coupling constants and the Yukawa-type corrections to Newtonian gravity from experiments on measuring the Casimir interaction. After a brief review of previously obtained constraints, we concentrate on the new Casimir-less experiment, which allows to strengthen the known results up to factors of 60 and 1000 for the axion-like particles and Yukawa-type corrections, respectively. We also discuss possibilities allowing to further strengthen the constraints on axion-nucleon coupling constants, and propose a new experiment aiming to achi…
Violations of the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (OZI) rule in $s\bar s <-> n\bar n = 1/2 (u\bar u + d\bar d)$ mixing and $ϕ$ production from nucleon-antinucleon annihilation are reviewed. Possible explanations are examined. We conclude that the two-step hadronic loops can explain these OZI violations naturally with proper consideration of cancellations between loops. No conclusive evidence exists for glueball states, $s\bar sn\bar n$ four quark states, instanton effects, and strange quarks in nucleon.
We make a detailed analysis on the nucleon decay in the minimal supersymmetric $SU(5)$ grand unified model. We find that a requirement of the unification of three gauge coupling constants leads to a constraint on a mass $M_{H_C}$ of color-triplet Higgs multiplet as $2 \times 10^{13}~\GeV \leq M_{H_C} \leq 2 \times 10^{17}~\GeV$, taking both weak- and GUT-scale threshold effects into account. Contrary to the results in the previous analyses, the present experimental limits on the nucleon decay turn out to be consistent with the SUSY particles lighter than 1~TeV even without a cancellation betwe…
Constraints on the Yukawa-type corrections to Newton's gravitational law and on the coupling constant of axionlike particles to nucleons obtained from different laboratory experiments are reviewed and compared. The constraints on non-Newtonian gravity under discussion cover the wide interaction range from nanometers to millimeters and follow from the experiments on neutron scattering, measuring the Casimir force and Cavendish-type experiments. The constraints on the axion-to-nucleon coupling constant following from the magnetometer measurements, Cavendish-type experiments, Casimir physics, and…
An analysis of supersymmetric dark matter under the Yukawa unification constraint is given. The analysis utilizes the recently discovered region of the parameter space of models with gaugino mass nonuniversalities where large negative supersymmetric corrections to the b quark mass appear to allow $b-τ$ unification for a positive $μ$ sign consistent with the $b\to s+γ$ and $g_μ-2$ constraints. In the present analysis we use the revised theoretical determination of $a_μ^{SM}$ ($a_μ= (g_μ-2)/2$) in computing the difference $a_μ^{exp}-a_μ^{SM}$ which takes account of a reevaluation of the light by…

In the framework of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory, we compare the lower bounds on the scale of new physics possibly contributing to the $f\bar{f}h$ effective couplings, obtained from the measurements of different observables, under the assumption that the Wilson coefficients of the relevant dim 6 operators respect certain flavour structure: either the Minimal Flavour Violation (MFV) ansatz or a flavour symmetry, often invoked to explain the observed pattern of fermion masses and mixings. We perform a global analysis of the bounds following from the limits on the diagonal couplings …
We consider axionlike particles, as the most probable constituents of dark matter, the Yukawa-type corrections to Newton's gravitational law and constraints on their parameters following from astrophysics and different laboratory experiments. After a brief discussion of the results by Prof. Yu. N. Gnedin in this field, we are coming to the recent experiment on measuring the differential Casimir force between Au-coated surfaces of a sphere and the top and bottom of rectangular trenches. In this experiment, the Casimir force was measured over an unusually wide separation region from 0.2 to 8~mcm…
We present a model for the observed hierarchies among the Yukawa couplings of the standard model in the context of an effective low energy theory with an anomalous U(1) symmetry. This symmetry, a generic feature of superstring compactification, is a remnant of the Green-Schwarz anomaly cancellation mechanism. The gauge group is that of the standard model, augmented by X, the anomalous U(1), and two family-dependent phase symmetries $Y^{(1)}$ and $Y^{(2)}$. The correct hierarchies are reproduced only when $sin^2θ_w=3/8$ at the cut-off. To cancel anomalies, right-handed neutrinos and other stand…
We explain the electron-positron excess reported by the DAMPE collaboration recently in a radiative Dirac seesaw model where a dark $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry can (i) forbid the tree-level Yukawa couplings of three right-handed neutrinos to the standard model lepton and Higgs doublets, (ii) predict the existence of three dark fermions for the gauge anomaly cancellation, (iii) mediate a testable scattering of the lightest dark fermion off the nucleons. Our model can also accommodate a successful leptogenesis to generate the cosmic baryon asymmetry.
By using local central Yukawa-type interactions that reproduce the low-energy parameters of the latest updates of the Nijmegen ESC08c potentials we show that the $NΞ$, $NNΞ$, $NΞΞ$ and $NNΞΞ$ systems with maximal isospin are bound. Since in these states the strong decay $NΞ\toΛΛ$ is forbidden by isospin conservation, these strange few-body systems will be stable under the strong interaction. These results may suggest that other states with different number of $N$'s and $Ξ$'s in the maximal isospin channel could also be bound.
Drawing analogy of replacing the nucleon by heavy chiral quark $Q$, the pion by Goldstone boson $G$, and $πNN$ coupling by $GQQ$ coupling, we construct a statistical model for $Q\bar Q \to nG$ annihilation, i.e. into $n$ longitudinal weak bosons. This analogy is becoming prescient since the LHC direct bound $m_Q > 611$ GeV implies strong Yukawa coupling. Taking $m_Q \in (1, 2)$ TeV, the mean number $<n_G>$ ranges from 6 to over 10, with negligible two or three boson production. With individual $t'$ or $b'$ decays suppressed either by phase space or quark mixing, and given the strong Yukawa cou…
We study the structure of Yukawa couplings in intersecting D6-branes wrapping a factorizable 6-torus compact space T^6. Models with MSSM-like spectrum are analyzed and found to fail in predicting the quark mass spectrum because of the way in which the family structure for the left-handed, right-handed quarks and, eventually, the Higgses is `factorized' among the different tori. In order to circumvent this, we present a model with three supersymmetric Higgs doublets which satisfies the anomaly cancellation condition in a more natural way than the previous models, where quarks were not treated u…

Evaluation of nucleon decay modes and branching ratios in a non-minimal supersymmetric SO(10) grand unified theory is presented. The non-minimal GUT considered is the supersymmetrised version of the `realistic' SO(10) model originally proposed by Harvey, Reiss, and Ramond, which is realistic in that it gives acceptable charged fermion and neutrino masses within the context of a phenomenological fit to the low energy standard model inputs. Despite a complicated Higgs sector, the SO(10) $\underline{10}$ Higgs superfield mass insertion is found to be the sole contribution to the tree level F-term…
Supersymmetric SO(10) grand unified models with renormalizable Yukawa couplings involving {\bf 10}, {\bf 126} and {\bf 120} Higgs fields have been shown to give a very economical theory for understanding quark-lepton flavor in a unified framework. In previous papers, we showed how nucleon decay can be suppressed in these models without invoking cancellation, by choice of Yukawa flavor texture within a type II seesaw framework for neutrinos that explains all mixings and masses including the recently observed "large" $θ_{13}$. In this follow-up paper, we extend our earlier work to the case of ty…
