Quantum computers that process information by harnessing the remarkable power of quantum mechanics are increasingly being put to practical use. In the future, their impact will be felt in numerous fields, including in online casino games. This is one of the reasons why quantum gambling theory has garnered considerable attention. Studies have shown that the quantum gambling theory often yields nontrivial consequences that classical theory cannot interpret. We devised a quantum circuit reproducing classical blackjack and found possible quantum entanglement between strategies. This circuit can be realized in the near future when quantum computers are commonplace. Furthermore, we showed that the player's expectation increases compared to the classical game using quantum basic strategy, which is a quantum version of the popular basic strategy of blackjack.
A certain modification of the semiclassical quantization condition based on the summarization of the known power expansion in the squared Planck constant is proposed. Corresponding deviation from exact spectra arises only together with the deviation of the studied potential from the supersymmetric one so that on the base of the presented method a new kind of the perturbation theory not connected with the Planck constant may be developed
Canonical quantization (CQ) is built around $[Q,P]=i\hbar1\!\!1$, while affine quantization (AQ) is built around $[Q,D]=i\hbar\,Q$, where $D\equiv(PQ+QP)/2$. The basic CQ operators must fit $-\infty< P, Q <\infty$, while the basic AQ operators can fit $-\infty<P<\infty$ and $ 0<Q<\infty$, $-\infty <Q<0$, or even $-\infty<Q\neq0<\infty$. AQ can also be the key to quantum gravity, as our simple outline demonstrates.
The paper is devoted to integral quantization, a procedure based on operator-valued measure and resolution of the identity. We insist on covariance properties in the important case where group representation theory is involved. We also insist on the inherent probabilistic aspects of this classical-quantum map. The approach includes and generalizes coherent state quantization. Two applications based on group representation are carried out. The first one concerns the Weyl-Heisenberg group and the euclidean plane viewed as the corresponding phase space. We show that there exists a world of quanti…
The eigenvalue problem in quantum mechanics is reduced to quantization of the classical action of the physical system. State function of the system, $ψ_0(ϕ)$, is written in the form of superposition of two plane waves in the phase space. Quantization condition is derived from the basic requirements of continuity and finiteness for $ψ_0(ϕ)$ in the whole region.
We present a concise introduction of basic concepts in quantum information theory and quantum mechanics prepared as an introduction for a general audience. In our approach the rules of quantum mechanics are presented in a simple form of rules describing the method of constructing quantum objects corresponding to classical objects. As a byproduct of the introduced approach, we present some alternative rules and use them to describe basic ingredients of quantum information theory using different types of objects.
We prove that there is no consistent polynomial quantization of the coordinate ring of a basic non-nilpotent coadjoint orbit of a semisimple Lie group.
The basic elements of the geometric approach to a consistent quantization formalism are summarized, with reference to the methods of the old quantum mechanics and the induced representations theory of Lie groups. A possible relationship between quantization and discretization of the configuration space is briefly discussed.
As basic elements of the quantum computer - quantum bits (qubits) we offer semiconductor quantum dots containing one electron each and consisting each of two tunnel-connected parts. The numerical solution of a Schroedinger equation with the account of Coulomb field of adjacent electrons shows, that in such structures the realization of a full set of basic logic operations which are necessary for fulfillment of quantum computations is possible. Durations of one- and two-qubit operations versus qubit geometry are obtained. Decoherence rates due to spontaneous emission of phonons and acoustic pho…
A quantum damped-polariton model is constructed for an inhomogeneous anisotropic linear dielectric with arbitrary dispersion in space and time. The model Hamiltonian is completely diagonalized by determining the creation and annihilation operators for the fundamental polariton modes as specific linear combinations of the basic dynamical variables. Explicit expressions are derived for the time-dependent operators describing the electromagnetic field, the dielectric polarization and the noise term in the latter. It is shown how to identify bath variables that generate the dissipative dynamics of…
The basic ideas of second quantization and Fock space are extended to density operator states, used in treatments of open many-body systems. This can be done for fermions and bosons. While the former only requires the use of a non-orthogonal basis, the latter requires the introduction of a dual set of spaces. In both cases an operator algebra closely resembling the canonical one is developed and used to define the dual sets of bases. We here concentrated on the bosonic case where the unboundedness of the operators requires the definitions of dual spaces to support the pair of bases. Some appli…
The basic principles of the quantum mechanics in the K-field formalism are stated in the paper. The basic distinction of this theory arises from that the quantum theory equations (including well-known Schrodinger, Klein-Gordon and quadratic Dirac equations) are obtained from de Broglie postulate geometric generalization. Rather, they are obtained as the free wave equations on a manifold metrizing force interactions of particles. Such view on the quantum theory basic equations allows one to use semiclassical models for the quantum system simulation. The quantization principle modifies as well. …
The quantum dynamics of a particle in the Modified Pöschl-Teller potential is derived from the group $SL(2,R)$ by applying a Group Approach to Quantization (GAQ). The explicit form of the Hamiltonian as well as the ladder operators is found in the enveloping algebra of this basic symmetry group. The present algorithm provides a physical realization of the non-unitary, finite-dimensional, irreducible representations of the $SL(2,R)$ group. The non-unitarity manifests itself in that only half of the states are normalizable, in contrast with the representations of SU(2) where all the states are p…
The basics of precanonical quantization and its relation to the functional Schrödinger picture in QFT are briefly outlined. The approach is applied to quantization of Einstein's gravity in vielbein and spin connection variables and leads to a quantum dynamics described by the covariant Schrödinger equation for the transition amplitudes on the bundle of spin connection coefficients over the space-time, that yields a novel quantum description of space-time geometry. A toy model of precanonical quantum cosmology based on the example of flat FLRW universe is considered.
Today it still remains a challenge whether quantum mechanics has an underlying statistical explanation or not. While there are and were a lot of models trying to explain quantum phenomena with statistical methods these all failed on certain levels. In this paper a method is proposed that is not only based on a classical statistical framework but it has an underlying physical model behind it and it can explain some of the basic characteristics of quantum mechanics. It will be shown that if look at the properties of a charged particle in a random electric field one can obtain the discrete energy…
This paper proposes a basic theory on physical reality, and a new foundation for quantum mechanics and classical mechanics. It does not only solve the problem of the arbitrariness on the operator ordering for the quantization procedure, but also clarifies how the classical-limit occurs. It further compares the new theory with the known quantization methods, and proposes a self-consistent interpretation for quantum mechanics. It also provides the internal structure inducing half-integer spin of a particle, the sense of the regularization in the quantum field theory, the quantization of a phenom…
Several aspects of the manifestation of the causality principle in LQP (local quantum physics) are reviewed or presented. Particular emphasis is given to those properties which are typical for LQP in the sense that they do go beyond the structure of general quantum theory and even escape the Lagrangian quantization methods of standard QFT. The most remarkable are those relating causality to the modular Tomita-Takesaki theory, since they bring in the basic concepts of antiparticles, charge superselections as well as internal and external (geometric and hidden) symmetries.
This article investigates quantum oscillations of a vortex ring with zero thickness that evolves in a cylindrical domain $V = D \times [0,L]$. The symbol $D$ denotes the planar domain which is bounded by some closed connected curve $S$. The quantization scheme of this dynamical system is based on the approach proposed by the author earlier. As result, we find the discrete values $Γ_n$ for circulation $Γ$. In contrast to the traditional approach, where such quantities are usually postulated, the values $Γ_n$ are deduced rigorously as the consequence of the conventional scheme of quantum theory.…
In applied physics and in engineering intuitive understanding is a boost for creativity and almost a necessity for efficient product improvement. The existence of soliton solutions to the quantum equations in the presence of self-interactions allows us to draw an intuitive picture of quantum mechanics. The purpose of this work is to compile a collection of models, some of which are simple, some are obvious, some have already appeared in papers and even in textbooks, and some are new. However this is the first time they are presented (to our knowledge) in a common place attempting to provide an…
This paper proposes a basic theory on physical reality and a new foundation for quantum mechanics and classical mechanics. It presents a scenario not only to solve the problem of the arbitrariness on the operator ordering for the quantization procedure, but also to clarify how the classical-limit occurs. This paper is the first of the three papers into which the previous paper quant-ph/9906130 has been separated for readability.
Any particular classical system and its quantum version are normally viewed as separate formulations that are strictly distinct. Our goal is to overcome the two separate languages and create a smooth and common procedure that provides a clear and continuous passage between the conventional distinction of either a strictly classical or a strictly quantized state. While path integration, among other procedures, provides an alternative route to connect classical and quantum expressions, it normally involves complicated, model-dependent, integrations. Our alternative procedures involve only model-…
We examine mathematical questions around angle (or phase) operator associated with a number operator through a short list of basic requirements. We implement three methods of construction of quantum angle. The first one is based on operator theory and parallels the definition of angle for the upper half-circle through its cosine and completed by a sign inversion. The two other methods are integral quantization generalizing in a certain sense the Berezin-Klauder approaches. One method pertains to Weyl-Heisenberg integral quantization of the plane viewed as the phase space of the motion on the l…
We implement the so-called Weyl-Heisenberg covariant integral quantization in the case of a classical system constrained by a bounded or semi-bounded geometry. The procedure, which is free of the ordering problem of operators, is illustrated with the basic example of the one-dimensional motion of a free particle in an interval, and yields a fuzzy boundary, a position-dependent mass (PDM), and an extra potential on the quantum level. The consistency of our quantization is discussed by analyzing the semi-classical phase space portrait of the derived quantum dynamics, which is obtained as a regul…
