We study the excited state Rényi entropy and subsystem Schatten distance in the two-dimensional free massless non-compact bosonic field theory, which is a conformal field theory. The discretization of the free non-compact bosonic theory gives the harmonic chain with local couplings. We consider the field theory excited states that correspond to the harmonic chain states with excitations of more than one quasiparticle, which we call multi-particle states. This extends the previous work by the same authors to more general excited states. In the field theory we obtain the exact Rényi entropy and subsystem Schatten distance for several low-lying states. We also obtain the short interval expansion of the Rényi entropy and subsystem Schatten distance for general excited states. In the locally coupled harmonic chain we calculate numerically the excited state Rényi entropy and subsystem Schatten distance using the wave function method. We find excellent matches of the analytical results in the field theory and numerical results in the gapless limit of the harmonic chain. We also make some preliminary investigations of the Rényi entropy and the subsystem Schatten distance in the extremely gapped limit of the harmonic chain.
We investigate the subsystem Schatten distance, trace distance and fidelity between the quasiparticle excited states of the free and the nearest-neighbor coupled fermionic and bosonic chains and the ferromagnetic phase of the spin-1/2 XXX chain. The results support the scenario that in the scaling limit when one excited quasiparticle has a large energy it decouples from the ground state and when two excited quasiparticles have a large momentum difference they decouple from each other. From the quasiparticle picture, we get the universal subsystem distances that are valid when both the large en…
We investigate the Rényi entropy of the excited states produced by the current and its derivatives in the two-dimensional free massless non-compact bosonic theory, which is a two-dimensional conformal field theory. We also study the subsystem Schatten distance between these states. The two-dimensional free massless non-compact bosonic theory is the continuum limit of the finite periodic gapless harmonic chains with the local interactions. We identify the excited states produced by current and its derivatives in the massless bosonic theory as the single-particle excited states in the gapless ha…
We derive a general relation between the bosonic and fermionic entanglement in the ground states of supersymmetric quadratic Hamiltonians. For this, we construct canonical identifications between bosonic and fermionic subsystems. Our derivation relies on a unified framework to describe both, bosonic and fermionic Gaussian states in terms of so-called linear complex structures $J$. The resulting dualities apply to the full entanglement spectrum between the bosonic and the fermionic systems, such that the von Neumann entropy and arbitrary Renyi entropies can be related. We illustrate our finding…
We refine the notion of concurrence in this paper by a redefinition of the concept. The new definition is simpler, computationally straight forward, and allows the concurrence to be directly read off from the state. It has all the positive features of the definiton given by Wootters over and above which it can discriminate between different systems to which the Wootters prescription would assign the same value. Finally, the definiton leads to a natural extension of the notion to multiqubit concurrence, which we illustrate with examples from quantum error correction codes.
We investigate bosonic sectors of supersymmetric field theories. We consider superpotentials described by one and by two real scalar fields, and we show how the equations of motion can be factorized into a family of first order Bogomol'nyi equations, so that all the topological defects are of the Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield type. We examine explicit models, that engender the Z_N symmetry, and we identify all the topological sectors, illustrating their integrability.

For quantum matter, eigenstate entanglement entropies obey an area law or log-area law at low energies and small subsystem sizes and cross over to volume laws for high energies and large subsystems. This transition is captured by crossover functions, which assume a universal scaling form in quantum critical regimes. We demonstrate this for the harmonic lattice model, which describes quantized lattice vibrations and is a regularization for free scalar field theories, modeling, e.g., spin-0 bosonic particles. In one dimension, the groundstate entanglement obeys a log-area law. For dimensions $d\…
It has been recently shown that small subsystems of finite quantum systems generically equilibrate. We extend these results to infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces of field theories and matrix models. We consider a quench setup, where initial states are chosen from a microcanonical ensemble of finite energy in free theory, and then evolve with an arbitrary non-perturbative Hamiltonian. Given a dynamical assumption on the expectation value of particle number density, we prove that small subsystems reach equilibrium at the level of quantum wave-function, and with respect to all observables. The p…
I consider a class of one-dimensional models where Majorana fermions interact with bosonic fields. Contrary to a more familiar situation where bosonic degrees of freedom are phonons and as such form a slow subsystem, I consider fast bosons. Such situation exists when the bosonic modes appear as collective excitations of interacting electrons as, for instance, in superconductors or carbon nanotubes. It is shown that an entire new class of excitations emerge, namely bound states of solitons and Majorana fermions. The latter bound states are not topological and their existence and number depend o…
In the tensionless limit of string theory on flat background all the massive tower of states gets squeezed to a common zero mass level and the free theory is described by an infinite amount of massless free fields with arbitrary integer high spin. We notice that in this situation the very notion of critical dimension gets lost, the apparency of infinite global symmetries takes place, and the closed tensionless string can be realized as a constrained subsystem of the open one in a natural way. Moreover, we study the tensionless limit of the Witten's cubic sting field theory and find that the th…
We review the details of unconstrained Lagrangian formulations for Bose particles propagated on an arbitrary dimensional flat space-time and described by the unitary irreducible integer higher-spin representations of the Poincare group subject to Young tableaux $Y(s_1,...,s_k)$ with $k$ rows. The procedure is based on the construction of Verma modules and finding auxiliary oscillator realizations for the symplectic $sp(2k)$ algebra which encodes the second-class operator constraints subsystem in the HS symmetry algebra. Application of an universal BRST approach reproduces gauge-invariant Lagra…
We report on a systematic replica approach to calculate the subsystem trace distance for a quantum field theory. This method has been recently introduced in [J. Zhang, P. Ruggiero, P. Calabrese, Phys. Rev. Lett. 122, 141602 (2019)], of which this work is a completion. The trace distance between two reduced density matrices $ρ_A$ and $σ_A$ is obtained from the moments $\textrm{tr} (ρ_A-σ_A)^n$ and taking the limit $n\to1$ of the traces of the even powers. We focus here on the case of a subsystem consisting of a single interval of length $\ell$ embedded in the low lying eigenstates of a one-dime…
Quantum field theory is the application of quantum physics to fields. It provides a theoretical framework widely used in particle physics and condensed matter physics. One of the most distinct features of quantum physics with respect to classical physics is entanglement or the existence of strong correlations between subsystems that can even be spacelike separated. In quantum fields, observables restricted to a region of space define a subsystem. While there are proofs on the existence of local observables that would allow a violation of Bell's inequalities in the vacuum states of quantum fiel…
In this work, our prime objective is to study non-locality and long-range effects of two-body correlation using quantum entanglement from the various information-theoretic measures in the static patch of de Sitter space using a two-body Open Quantum System (OQS). The OQS is described by a system of two entangled atoms, surrounded by a thermal bath, which is modelled by a massless probe scalar field. Firstly, we partially trace over the bath field and construct the Gorini Kossakowski Sudarshan Lindblad (GSKL) master equation, which describes the time evolution of the reduced subsystem density m…
We investigate the energy eigenstate Rényi entropy of generic bipartition in the fermionic, bosonic, and spin-1/2 XY chains. When the gap of the theory is large or all the momenta of the excited quasiparticles are large, the Rényi entropy takes a universal form, which is independent of the model, the quasiparticle momenta, and the subsystem connectedness. We calculate analytically the Rényi entropy in the extremely gapped limit and find different additional contributions to the universal Rényi entropy in various models. The corrections to the universal Rényi entropy cannot be neglected when th…
The work aims effective and low-dimensional systems. Some different contexts involving gravitational and electromagnetic interactions are investigated. The electromagnetic one approaches bosonic and fermionic Effective Quantum Field Theories non-minimally coupled in three spacetime dimensions submitted to the expansion of Foldy-Wouthuysen Transformation, what generates (non-)relativistic corrections. A study of the effects of an external electromagnetic field derived from the Maxwell-Chern-Simons Electrodynamics on the obtained interactions are executed, as well as the impact produced by the d…

We study the new class of solutions in linearized open string field theory (OSFT) involving higher-spin modes. Unlike the elementary OSFT solutions (on-shell vertex operators) that, acting on a vacuum, define wavefunctions of pure states (e.g. a tachyon), the solutions that we describe correspond to the reduced density matrices which eigenvalues describe the entanglement between higher-spin modes with different spin values. We compute the entanglement entropy on these OSFT solutions, and the answer is expressed in terms of converging series in inverse weighted partition numbers. In the case of…
In this paper, we would like to systematically explore the implications of non-perturbative effects on entanglement in a many body system. Instead of pursuing the usual path-integral method in a singular space, we attempt to study the wavefunctions in detail. We begin with a toy model of multiple particles whose interaction potential admits multiple minima. We study the entanglement of the true ground state after taking the tunnelling effects into account and find some simple patterns. Notably, in the case of multiple particle interactions, entanglement entropy generically decreases with incre…

The Rényi entropies of quasiparticle excitations in the many-body gapped systems show a remarkable universal picture which can be understood partially by combination of a semiclassical argument with the quantum effect of (in)distinguishability. The universal Rényi entropies are independent of the model, the quasiparticle momenta, and the connectedness of the subsystem. In this letter we calculate exactly the single-interval and double-interval Rényi entropies of quasiparticle excitations in the many-body gapped fermions, bosons, and XY chains. We find additional contributions to the universal …
We investigate a special class of the $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric quantum models being perfectly invisible zero-gap systems with a unique bound state at the very edge of continuous spectrum of scattering states. The family includes the $\mathcal{PT}$-regularized two particle Calogero systems (conformal quantum mechanics models of de Alfaro-Fubini-Furlan) and their rational extensions whose potentials satisfy equations of the KdV hierarchy and exhibit, particularly, a behaviour typical for extreme waves. We show that the two simplest Hamiltonians from the Calogero subfamily determine the fluctuati…
We derive non-linear commutator HS symmetry algebra, which encode unitary irreducible representations of AdS group subject to Young tableaux $Y(s_1,...,s_k)$ with $k\geq 2$ rows on $d$-dimensional anti-de-Sitter space. Auxiliary representations for specially deformed non-linear HS symmetry algebra in terms of generalized Verma module in order to additively convert a subsystem of second-class constraints in the HS symmetry algebra into one with first-class constraints are found explicitly for the case of HS fields for $k=2$ Young tableaux. The oscillator realization over Heisenberg algebra for …
The details of Lagrangian description of irreducible integer higher-spin representations of the Poincare group with an Young tableaux $Y[\hat{s}_1,\hat{s}_2]$ having $2$ columns are considered for Bose particles propagated on an arbitrary dimensional Minkowski space-time. The procedure is based, first, on using of an auxiliary Fock space generated by Fermi oscillators (antisymmetric basis), second, on construction of the Verma module and finding auxiliary oscillator realization for $sl(2)\oplus sl(2)$ algebra which encodes the second-class operator constraints subsystem in the HS symmetry supe…
