We present the first linear-polarization mosaicked observations performed by the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). We mapped the Orion-KLeinmann-Low (Orion-KL) nebula using super-sampled mosaics at 3.1 and 1.3 mm as part of the ALMA Extension and Optimization of Capabilities (EOC) program. We derive the magnetic field morphology in the plane of the sky by assuming that dust grains are aligned with respect to the ambient magnetic field. At the center of the nebula, we find a quasi-radial magnetic field pattern that is aligned with the explosive CO outflow up to a radius of approximately 12 arc-seconds (~ 5000 au), beyond which the pattern smoothly transitions into a quasi-hourglass shape resembling the morphology seen in larger-scale observations by the James-Clerk-Maxwell Telescope (JCMT). We estimate an average magnetic field strength $\langle B\rangle = 9.4$ mG and a total magnetic energy of 2 x 10^45 ergs, which is three orders of magnitude less than the energy in the explosive CO outflow. We conclude that the field has been overwhelmed by the outflow and that a shock is propagating from the center of the nebula, where the shock front is seen in the magnetic field lines at a distance of ~ 5000 au from the explosion center.
During the transition phase from a prestellar to a protostellar cloud core, one or several protostars can form within a single gas core. The detailed physical processes of this transition, however, still remain unclear. We present 1.3 mm dust continuum and molecular line observations with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) toward 43 protostellar cores in the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex ($λ$ Orionis, Orion B, and Orion A) with an angular resolution of $\sim$ 0.35" ($\sim$ 140 au). In total, we detect 13 binary/multiple systems. We derive an overall multiplicity frequency …
The presence of complex organic molecules (COMs) in the interstellar medium (ISM) is of great interest since it may link to the origin and prevalence of life in the universe. Aiming to investigate the occurrence of COMs and their possible origins, we conducted a chemical census toward a sample of protostellar cores as part of the ALMA Survey of Orion Planck Galactic Cold Clumps (ALMASOP) project. We report the detection of 11 hot corino sources, which exhibit compact emissions from warm and abundant COMs, among 56 Class 0/I protostellar cores. All the hot corino sources discovered are likely C…
We present sensitive high angular resolution ($\sim$ 0.1$''$ -- 0.3$''$) continuum ALMA (The Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array) observations of the archetypal hot core located in Orion-KL. The observations were made in five different spectral bands (bands 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9) covering a very broad range of frequencies (149 -- 658 GHz). Apart of the well-know millimeter emitting objects located in this region (Orion Source I and BN), we report the first submillimeter detection of three compact continuum sources (ALMA 1-3) in the vicinities of the Orion-KL hot molecular core. These thre…
We have measured continuum flux densities of a high-mass protostar candidate, a radio source I in the Orion KL region (Orion Source I) using the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA) at band 8 with an angular resolution of 0.1". The continuum emission at 430, 460, and 490 GHz associated with Source I shows an elongated structure along the northwest-southeast direction perpendicular to the so-called low-velocity bipolar outflow. The deconvolved size of the continuum source, 90 au times 20 au, is consistent with those reported previously at other millimeter/submillimeter wavelength…
We report the detection of four new hot corino sources, G211.47-19.27S, G208.68-19.20N1, G210.49-19.79W and G192.12-11.10 from a survey study of Planck Galactic Cold Clumps in the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex with the Atacama Compact Array (ACA). Three sources had been identified as low mass Class 0 protostars in the Herschel Orion Protostar Survey (HOPS). One source in the lambda Orionis region is firstly reported as a protostellar core. We have observed abundant complex organic molecules (COMs), primarily methanol but also other oxygen-bearing COMs (in G211.47-19.27S and G208.68-19.20N1) an…
We present ALMA images of the dust and molecular line emission in the Orion Hot Core at 349 GHz. At 0.2" angular resolution the images reveal multiple clumps in an arc ~ 1" east of Orion Source I, the protostar at the center of the Kleinmann-Low Nebula, and another chain of peaks from IRc7 towards the southwest. The molecular line images show narrow filamentary structures at velocities > 10 km/s away from the heavily resolved ambient cloud velocity ~5 km/s. Many of these filaments trace the SiO outflow from Source I, and lie along the edges of the dust emission. Molecular line emission at exci…
We investigated the ALMA science verification data of Orion KL and found a spectral signature of the vibrationally excited H2O maser line at 232.68670 GHz (nu2=1, 5,5,0-6,4,3). This line has been detected in circumstellar envelopes of late-type stars so far but not in young stellar objects including Orion KL. Thus, this is the first detection of the 232 GHz vibrationally excited H2O maser in star-forming regions. The distribution of the 232 GHz maser is concentrated at the position of the radio Source I, which is remarkably different from other molecular lines. The spectrum shows a double-peak…
The prevalence of substructures in $\sim1-10$ Myr old protoplanetary disks, which are often linked to planet formation, has raised the question of how early such features form, and as a corollary, how early planet formation begins. Here we present observations of seven protostellar disks (aged $\sim0.1-1$ Myr) from the VLA/ALMA Nascent Disk and Multiplicity Survey of Orion Protostars (VANDAM: Orion) that show clear substructures, thereby demonstrating that these features can form early in the lifetimes of disks. We use simple analytic models as well as detailed radiative transfer modeling to c…
The chemistry of complex organic molecules in interstellar dark clouds is still highly uncertain in part because of the lack of constraining observations. Orion is the closest massive star-forming region, and observations making use of ALMA allow us to separate the emission regions of various complex organic molecules (COMs) in both velocity and space. Orion also benefits from an exceptional situation, in that it is the site of a powerful explosive event that occurred 550 years ago. We show that the closely surrounding Kleinmann-Low region has clearly been influenced by this explosion; some mo…
We present observational results of the submillimeter H2O and SiO lines toward a candidate high-mass young stellar object Orion Source I using ALMA. The spatial structures of the high excitation lines at lower-state energies of >2500 K show compact structures consistent with the circumstellar disk and/or base of the northeast-southwest bipolar outflow with a 100 au scale. The highest excitation transition, the SiO (v=4) line at band 8, has the most compact structure. In contrast, lower-excitation transitions are more extended than 200 au tracing the outflow. Almost all the line show velocity g…
We have selected six sources (G209.55-19.68S2, G205.46-14.56S1$_{-}$A, G203.21-11.20W2, G191.90-11.21S, G205.46-14.56S3, and G206.93-16.61W2) from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array Survey of Orion Planck Galactic Cold Clumps (ALMASOP), in which these sources have been mapped in the CO (J=2-1), SiO (J=5-4), and C$^{18}$O (J=2-1) lines. These sources have high-velocity SiO jets surrounded by low-velocity CO outflows. The SiO jets consist of a chain of knots. These knots have been thought to be produced by semi-periodical variations in jet velocity. Therefore, we adopt a shock-form…
In this {\it Letter}, we present sensitive millimeter SiO (J=5-4; $ν$=0) line observations of the outflow arising from the enigmatic object Orion Source I made with the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA). The observations reveal that at scales of a few thousand AU, the outflow has a marked "butterfly" morphology along a northeast-southwest axis. However, contrary to what is found in the SiO and H$_2$O maser observations at scales of tens of AU, the blueshifted radial velocities of the moving gas are found to the northwest, while the redshifted velocities are in the southeast. …
Most massive stars form in dense clusters where gravitational interactions with other stars may be common. The two nearest forming massive stars, the BN object and Source I, located behind the Orion Nebula, were ejected with velocities of $\sim$29 and $\sim$13 km s$^{-1}$ about 500 years ago by such interactions. This event generated an explosion in the gas. New ALMA observations show in unprecedented detail, a roughly spherically symmetric distribution of over a hundred $^{12}$CO J=2$-$1 streamers with velocities extending from V$_{LSR}$ =$-$150 to +145 km s$^{-1}$. The streamer radial veloci…
High-resolution ALMA images towards the Orion Bar show no discernible offset between the peak of H2 emission in the photodissociation region (PDR) and the CO(3-2) and HCO+(4-3) emission in the molecular region. This implies that positions of H2 and CO dissociation fronts are indistinguishable in the limit of ALMA resolution. We use the chemo-dynamical model MARION to show that the ALMA view of the Orion Bar, namely, no appreciable offset between the CO(3-2) and HCO+(4-3) peaks, merged H2 and CO dissociation fronts, and high intensity of HCO+(4-3) emission, can only be explained by the ongoing …
Compared to their centimeter-wavelength counterparts, millimeter recombination lines (RLs) are intrinsically brighter and are free of pressure broadening. We report observations of RLs (H30alpha at 231.9 GHz, H53alpha at 42.9 GHz) and the millimeter and centimeter continuum toward the Becklin-Neugebauer (BN) object in Orion, obtained from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) Science Verification archive and the Very Large Array (VLA). The RL emission appears to be arising from the slowly-moving, dense (Ne=8.4x10^6 cm^-3) base of the ionized envelope around BN. This ionized g…
We present Markov Chain Monte Carlo radiative transfer modeling of a joint ALMA 345 GHz and spectral energy distribution dataset for a sample of 97 protostellar disks from the VLA and ALMA Nascent Disk and Multiplicity Survey of Orion Protostars. From this modeling, we derive disk and envelope properties for each protostar, allowing us to examine the bulk properties of a population of young protostars. We find that disks are small, with a median dust radius of $ 29.4^{+ 4.1}_{- 2.7}$ au and a median dust mass of $ 5.8^{+ 4.6}_{- 2.7}$ M$_{\oplus}$. We find no statistically significant differen…
Orion KL is one of the prime templates of astrochemical and prebiotic chemical studies. We wish to explore more organic molecules with increasing complexity in this region. In particular, we have searched for one of the most complex organic molecules detected in space so far, ethyl formate (C$_{2}$H$_{5}$OCHO). This species is the next step in chemical complexity after the simplest member of esters (methyl formate, CH$_{3}$OCHO). The mechanisms leading to its formation are still poorly known. We have used high angular resolution ($\sim$ 1.$^{\prime\prime}$5) ALMA observations covering a large …
This work reports a high spatial resolution observations toward Orion KL region with high critical density lines of CH$_{3}$CN (12$_{4}$-11$_{4}$) and CH$_{3}$OH (8$_{-1, 8}$-7$_{0, 7}$) as well as continuum at $\sim$1.3 mm band. The observations were made using the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array with a spatial resolution of $\sim$1.5$^{\prime\prime}$ and sensitives about 0.07 K and $\sim$0.18 K for continuum and line, respectively. The observational results showed that the gas in the Orion KL region consists of jet-propelled cores at the ridge and dense cores at east and south o…
We characterize protostellar multiplicity in the Orion molecular clouds using ALMA 0.87~mm and VLA 9~mm continuum surveys toward 328 protostars. These observations are sensitive to projected spatial separations as small as $\sim$20~au, and we consider source separations up to 10$^4$~au as potential companions. The overall multiplicity fraction (MF) and companion fraction (CF) for the Orion protostars are 0.30$\pm$0.03 and 0.44$\pm$0.03, respectively, considering separations from 20 to 10$^4$~au. The MFs and CFs are corrected for potential contamination by unassociated young stars using a proba…
We study the fragmentation of the nearest high line-mass filament, the integral shaped filament (ISF, line-mass $\sim$ 400 M$_\odot$ pc$^{-1}$) in the Orion A molecular cloud. We have observed a 1.6 pc long section of the ISF with the Atacama Large Millimetre/submillimeter Array (ALMA) at 3 mm continuum emission, at a resolution of $\sim$3" (1 200 AU). We identify from the region 43 dense cores with masses about a solar mass. 60% of the ALMA cores are protostellar and 40\% are starless. The nearest neighbour separations of the cores do not show a preferred fragmentation scale; the frequency of…
The Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) is the nearest dense star-forming region at $\sim$400 pc away, making it an ideal target to study the impact of high stellar density and proximity to massive stars (the Trapezium) on protoplanetary disk evolution. The OMC1 molecular cloud is a region of high extinction situated behind the Trapezium in which actively forming stars are shielded from the Trapezium's strong radiation. In this work, we survey disks at high resolution with ALMA at three wavelengths with resolutions of 0.095\arcsec (3 mm; Band 3), 0.048\arcsec (1.3 mm; Band 6), and 0.030\arcsec (0.85 mm…
Orion Source I (`SrcI') is the protostar at the center of the Kleinmann-Low Nebula. ALMA observations of SrcI with 0.2" angular resolution were made at 350 and 660 GHz to search for the H26alpha and H21alpha hydrogen recombination lines and to measure the continuum flux densities. The recombination lines were not detected, ruling out the possibility that SrcI is a hypercompact HII region. The deconvolved size of the continuum source is approximately 0.23 x 0.07" (100 x 30 AU); it is interpreted as a disk viewed almost edge-on. Optically thick thermal emission from ~500 K dust is the most plaus…
Planck Galactic Cold Clumps (PGCCs) are contemplated to be the ideal targets to probe the early phases of star formation. We have conducted a survey of 72 young dense cores inside PGCCs in the Orion complex with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) at 1.3\,mm (band 6) using three different configurations (resolutions $\sim$ 0$\farcs$35, 1$\farcs$0, and 7$\farcs$0) to statistically investigate their evolutionary stages and sub-structures. We have obtained images of the 1.3\,mm continuum and molecular line emission ($^{12}$CO, and SiO) at an angular resolution of $\sim$ 0$\far…
We present Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) observations of molecular line emission from d216-0939, one of the largest and most massive protoplanetary disks in the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC). We model the spectrally resolved HCO$^+$ (4--3), CO (3--2), and HCN (4--3) lines observed at 0\farcs5 resolution to fit the temperature and density structure of the disk. We also weakly detect and spectrally resolve the CS (7--6) line but do not model it. The abundances we derive for CO and HCO$^+$ are generally consistent with expected values from chemical modeling of protoplanetary di…
We present $^{29}$SiO(J=8--7) $ν$=0, SiS (J=19--18) $ν$=0, and $^{28}$SiO (J=8--7) $ν$=1 molecular line archive observations made with the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA) of the molecular outflow associated with Orion Source I. The observations show velocity asymmetries about the flow axis which are interpreted as outflow rotation. We find that the rotation velocity ($\sim$4--8 km s$^{-1}$) decreases with the vertical distance to the disk. In contrast, the cylindrical radius ($\sim$100--300 au), the expansion velocity ($\sim$2--15 km s$^{-1}$), and the axial velocity $v_{\r…
We have investigated the TUKH122 prestellar core in the Orion A cloud using ALMA 3 mm dust continuum, N$_2$H$^+$ ($J=1-0$), and CH$_3$OH ($J_K=2_K-1_K$) molecular line observations. Previous studies showed that TUKH122 is likely on the verge of star formation because the turbulence is almost dissipated and chemically evolved among other starless cores in the Orion A cloud. By combining ALMA 12-m and ACA data, we recover extended emission with a resolution of $\sim5"$ corresponding to 0.01 pc and identify 6 condensations with a mass range of $0.1-0.4$ $M_\odot$ and a radius of $\lesssim0.01$ pc…
We present ALMA observations of the largest protoplanetary disk in the Orion Nebula, 114-426. Detectable 345 GHz (856 micron) dust continuum is produced only in the 350 AU central region of the ~1000 AU diameter silhouette seen against the bright H-alpha background in HST images. Assuming optically thin dust emission at 345 GHz, a gas-to-dust ratio of 100, and a grain temperature of 20 K, the disk gas-mass is estimated to be 3.1 +/- 0.6 Jupiter masses. If most solids and ices have have been incorporated into large grains, however, this value is a lower limit. The disk is not detected in dense-…
We report the first detection and high angular resolution (1.8" $\times$ 1.1") imaging of acetic acid (CH$_3$COOH) and gGg$^{\prime}$--ethylene glycol (gGg$^{\prime}$(CH$_2$OH)$_2$) towards the Orion Kleinmann--Low nebula. The observations were carried out at $\sim$1.3mm with ALMA during the Cycle~2. A notable result is that the spatial distribution of the acetic acid and ethylene glycol emission differs from that of the other O-bearing molecules within Orion-KL. Indeed, while the typical emission of O-bearing species harbors a morphology associated with a "V-shape" linking the Hot Core region…
Prestellar cores are self-gravitating dense and cold structures within molecular clouds where future stars are born. They are expected, at the stage of transitioning to the protostellar phase, to harbor centrally concentrated dense (sub)structures that will seed the formation of a new star or the binary/multiple stellar systems. Characterizing this critical stage of evolution is key to our understanding of star formation. In this work, we report the detection of high density (sub)structures on the thousand-au scale in a sample of dense prestellar cores. Through our recent ALMA observations tow…
We present ALMA 850 $μ$m continuum observations of the Orion Nebula Cluster that provide the highest angular resolution ($\sim 0\rlap{.}''1 \approx 40$ AU) and deepest sensitivity ($\sim 0.1$ mJy) of the region to date. We mosaicked a field containing $\sim 225$ optical or near-IR-identified young stars, $\sim 60$ of which are also optically-identified "proplyds". We detect continuum emission at 850 $μ$m towards $\sim 80$% of the proplyd sample, and $\sim 50$% of the larger sample of previously-identified cluster members. Detected objects have fluxes of $\sim 0.5$-80 mJy. We remove sub-mm flux…
We present a high angular resolution ($\sim1"$) and wide-field ($2'.9 \times 1'.9$) image of the 1.3-mm continuum, CO($J$ = 2--1) line, and SiO($J$ = 5--4) line emissions toward an embedded protocluster, FIR3, FIR4, and FIR5, in the Orion Molecular Cloud 2 obtained from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). We identify 51 continuum sources, 36 of which are newly identified in this study. Their dust masses, projected sizes, and $\mathrm{H_2}$ gas number densities are estimated to be $3.8 \times 10^{-5}$--$ 1.1 \times 10^{-2} \mathrm{M_{\odot}}$, 290--2000 au, and $6.4 \times …
The spectral energy distribution (SED) in the millimetre (mm) to centimetre (cm) range is a useful tool for characterising the dust in protostellar envelopes as well as free-free emission from the protostar and outflow. While many studies have been carried out towards low- and high-mass protostars, little exists so far about solar-type protostars in high-mass star-forming regions, which are likely to be representatives of the conditions where the Solar System was born. We focus here on the OMC-2/3 solar-type protostars, which are bounded by nearby HII regions and which are, therefore, potentia…
We present Atacama Large Millimeter Array CO(3$-$2) and HCO$^+$(4$-$3) observations covering the central $1\rlap{.}'5$$\times$$1\rlap{.}'5$ region of the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC). The unprecedented level of sensitivity ($\sim$0.1 mJy beam$^{-1}$) and angular resolution ($\sim$$0\rlap{.}''09 \approx 35$ AU) of these line observations enable us to search for gas-disk detections towards the known positions of submillimeter-detected dust disks in this region. We detect 23 disks in gas: 17 in CO(3$-$2), 17 in HCO$^+$(4$-$3), and 11 in both lines. Depending on where the sources are located in the …
We mapped two molecular cloud cores in the Orion A cloud with the ALMA ACA 7-m Array and with the Nobeyama 45-m radio telescope. These cores have bright N$_2$D$^+$ emission in single-pointing observations with the Nobeyama 45-m radio telescope, have relatively high deuterium fraction, and are thought to be close to the onset of star formation. One is a star-forming core, and the other is starless. These cores are located along filaments observed in N$_2$H$^+$, and show narrow linewidths of 0.41 km s$^{-1}$ and 0.45 km s$^{-1}$ in N$_2$D$^+$, respectively, with the Nobeyama 45-m telescope. Both…
We present ALMA Band 7 polarisation observations of the OMC-1 region of the Orion molecular cloud. We find that the polarisation pattern observed in the region is likely to have been significantly altered by the radiation field of the $>10^{4}$ L$_{\odot}$ high-mass protostar Orion Source I. In the protostar's optically thick disc, polarisation is likely to arise from dust self-scattering. In material to the south of Source I - previously identified as a region of 'anomalous' polarisation emission - we observe a polarisation geometry concentric around Source I. We demonstrate that Source I's e…
Protostellar outflows and jets play a vital role in star formation as they carry away excess angular momentum from the inner disk surface, allowing the material to be transferred toward the central protostar. Theoretically, low velocity and poorly collimated outflows appear from the beginning of the collapse, at the first hydrostatic core (FHSC) stage. With growing protostellar core mass, high-density jets are launched which entrain an outflow from the infalling envelope. Until now, molecular jets have been observed at high velocity ($\gtrsim$ 100 km/s) in early Class\,0 protostars. We, for th…
We present ALMA (0.87~mm) and VLA (9~mm) observations toward OMC2-FIR4 and OMC2-FIR3 within the Orion integral-shaped filament that are thought to be the nearest regions of intermediate mass star formation. We characterize the continuum sources within these regions on $\sim$40~AU (0\farcs1) scales and associated molecular line emission at a factor of $\sim$30 better resolution than previous observations at similar wavelengths. We identify six compact continuum sources within OMC2-FIR4, four in OMC2-FIR3, and one additional source just outside OMC2-FIR4. This continuum emission is tracing the i…
ALMA Survey of Orion Planck Galactic Cold Clumps (ALMASOP): Discovery of an extremely dense and compact object embedded in the prestellar core G208.68-19.92-N2
(Abridged) Surveys of protoplanetary disks in nearby star-forming regions (SFRs) have provided important information on their demographics, but due to their sample sizes, they cannot be used to study how disk properties vary with the environment. We conduct a survey of the unresolved millimeter continuum emission of 873 protoplanetary disks identified by Spitzer in the L1641 and L1647 regions of the Orion A cloud. This is the largest such survey yet, allowing us to identify even weak trends in the median disk mass as a function of position in the cloud and cluster membership. The sample detect…
We present ALMA (0.87~mm and 1.3~mm) and VLA (9~mm) observations toward the candidate intermediate-mass protostar OMC2-FIR3 (HOPS-370; L$_{bol}$~314~L$_{\odot}$) at $\sim$0.1" (40~au) resolution for the continuum emission and ~0.25" (100 au) resolution of nine molecular lines. The dust continuum observed with ALMA at 0.87~mm and 1.3~mm resolve a near edge-on disk toward HOPS-370 with an apparent radius of ~100 au. The VLA observations detect both the disk in dust continuum and free-free emission extended along the jet direction. The ALMA observations of molecular lines (H$_2$CO, SO, CH$_3$OH, …
Abridged. Are all filaments bundles of fibers? To address this question, we have investigated the gas organization within the paradigmatic Integral Shape Filament (ISF). We combined two new ALMA Cycle 3 mosaics with previous IRAM 30m observations to produce a high-dynamic range N$_2$H$^+$(1-0) emission map of the ISF tracing its high-density material and velocity structure down to scales of 0.009 pc. From the analysis of the gas kinematics, we identify a total of 55 dense fibers in the central region of the ISF. Independently of their location, these fibers are characterized by transonic inter…
We have conducted a survey of 328 protostars in the Orion molecular clouds with ALMA at 0.87 mm at a resolution of $\sim$0.1" (40 au), including observations with the VLA at 9 mm toward 148 protostars at a resolution of $\sim$0.08" (32 au). This is the largest multi-wavelength survey of protostars at this resolution by an order of magnitude. We use the dust continuum emission at 0.87 mm and 9 mm to measure the dust disk radii and masses toward the Class 0, Class I, and Flat Spectrum protostars, characterizing the evolution of these disk properties in the protostellar phase. The mean dust disk …
The explosive molecular outflow detected decades ago in the Orion BN/KL region of massive star formation was considered to be a bizarre event. This belief was strengthened by the non detection of similar cases over the years with the only exception of the marginal case of DR21. Here, we confim a similar explosive outflow associated with the UCH$_{\rm II}$ region G5.89$-$0.39 that indicates that this phenomenon is not unique to Orion or DR21. Sensitive and high angular resolution ($\sim$ 0.1$''$) ALMA CO(2$-$1) and SiO(5$-$4) observations show that the molecular outflow in the massive star form…
We present Karl G. Janksy Very Large Array (VLA) 1.3 cm, 3.6 cm, and 6 cm continuum maps of compact radio sources in the Orion Nebular Cluster. We mosaicked 34 square arcminutes at 1.3 cm, 70 square arcminutes at 3.6 cm and 109 square arcminutes at 6 cm, containing 778 near-infrared detected YSOs and 190 HST-identified proplyds (with significant overlap between those characterizations). We detected radio emission from 175 compact radio sources in the ONC, including 26 sources that were detected for the first time at these wavelengths. For each detected source we fit a simple free-free and dust…
We report ALMA long-baseline observations of Orion Source I (SrcI) with resolution 0.03-0.06" (12-24 AU) at 1.3 and 3.2 mm. We detect both continuum and spectral line emission from SrcI's disk. We also detect a central weakly resolved source that we interpret as a hot spot in the inner disk, which may indicate the presence of a binary system. The high angular resolution and sensitivity of these observations allow us to measure the outer envelope of the rotation curve of the H$_2$O $5_{5,0}-6_{4,3}$ line, which gives a mass $M_I\approx15\pm2$ Msun. We detected several other lines that more clos…
We present new EVLA continuum observations at 7 mm of the 253-1536 binary disk system in the Orion Nebula Cluster. The measured fluxes were combined with data in the sub-mm to derive the millimeter spectral index of each individual disk component. We show how these observations can be used to test the models of dust evolution and early growth of solids in protoplanetary disks. Our analysis indicates that the disk with lower density and higher temperature hosts larger grains than the companion disk. This result is the opposite of what predicted by the dust evolution models. The models and obser…

Guangxi University(广西大学);Institut de Ciències de l’Espai (ICE-CSIC)(空间科学研究所);Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute(韩国天体空间科学研究所);Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC)(加泰罗尼亚空间研究学院);Worcester State University(伍斯特州立大学)
We compared the sizes and fluxes of a sample of protostellar disks in Orion A measured with the ALMA 0.87 mm continuum data from the VANDAM survey with the physical properties of their ambient environments on the core scale of 0.6 pc estimated with the GBT GAS NH3 and JCMT SCUPOL polarimetric data. We did not find any significant dependence of the disk radii and continuum fluxes on a single parameter on the core scale, such as the non-thermal line width, magnetic field orientation and strength, or magnitude and orientation of the velocity gradient. Among these parameters, we only found a posit…
