The strangeness $S=-3$ and $-4$ baryon-baryon interactions are investigated in the relativistic chiral effective field theory at leading order. First, the potentials are derived from the $S=-1$ sector assuming that the corresponding low-energy constants are related to each other via SU(3) flavor symmetry. The comparison with the state-of-the-art lattice QCD simulations, show, however, that SU(3) flavor symmetry breaking effects can not be neglected. In order to take into account these effects, we redetermine two sets of low-energy constants by fitting to the lattice QCD data in the $ΞΣ$ and $ΞΞ$ channels respectively. The fitting results demonstrate that the lattice QCD $S$-waves phase shifts for both channels can be described rather well. Without any additional free low-energy constants, the predicted phase shifts for the ${}^3D_1$ channel and the mixing angle $\varepsilon_1$ are also in qualitative agreement with the lattice QCD data for the $S=-3$ channel, while the results for the $S=-4$ channel remain to be checked by future lattice QCD simulations. With the so-obtained low-energy constants, the $S$-wave scattering lengths and effective ranges are calculated for these two channels at the physical point. Finally, in combination with the $S=0$ and $-2$ results obtained in our previous works, we study the evolution of the irreducible representation $27$ in the baryon-baryon interactions as a function of increasing strangeness. It is shown that the attraction decreases dramatically as strangeness increases from $S=0$ to $S=-2$, but then remains relatively stable until $S=-4$. The results indicate that the existence of bound states in the $ΞΣ$ and $ΞΞ$ channels is rather unlikely.
I report on recent progress in the description of baryon-baryon systems within chiral effective field theory. In particular, I discuss results for the strangeness S=-3 to -4 baryon-baryon systems, obtained to leading order.
We derive the leading order strangeness S=-2 baryon-baryon interactions in chiral effective field theory. The potential consists of contact terms without derivatives and of one-pseudoscalar-meson exchanges. The contact terms and the couplings of the pseudoscalar mesons to the baryons are related via SU(3) flavor symmetry to the S=-1 hyperon-nucleon channels. We show that the chiral effective field theory predictions with natural values for the low-energy constants agree with the experimental information in the S=-2 sector.
Analytic expressions are given for the baryonic, electric and strangeness chemical potentials which explicitly show the importance of various terms. Simple scaling relations connecting these chemical potentials are found. Applications to particle ratios and to fluctuations and related thermal properties such as the isothermal compressibility kappaT are illustrated. A possible divergence of kappaT is discussed.
Relativistic heavy ion collisions are studied assuming that particles can be described by a hadron gas in thermal and chemical equilibrium. The exact conservation of baryon number, strangeness and charge are explicitly taken into account. For heavy ions the effect arising from the neutron surplus becomes important and leads to a substantial increase in e.g. the $π^-/π^+$ ratio. A method is developed which is very well suited for the study of small systems.
The leading order strangeness S=-3 and -4 baryon-baryon interactions are analyzed within chiral effective field theory. The chiral potentials consist of contact terms without derivatives and of one-pseudoscalar-meson exchanges. Assuming SU(3) flavor symmetry those contact terms and the couplings of the pseudoscalar mesons to the baryons are related to the corresponding quantities of the S=-1 hyperon-nucleon channels. Specifically, the values of the pertinent five low-energy constants related to the contact terms are already fixed from our preceeding study of the Lambda-N and Sigma-N systems an…
The correlation between baryon number and strangeness is used to discern the nature of the deconfined matter produced at vanishing chemical potential in high-energy nuclear collisions at the BNL RHIC. Comparisons of results of various phenomenological models with correlations extracted from lattice QCD calculations suggest that a quasi-particle picture applies. At finite baryon densities, such as those encountered at the CERN SPS, it is demonstrated that the presence of a first-order phase transition and the accompanying development of spinodal decomposition would significantly enhance the num…
The stopping behaviour of baryons in massive heavy ion collisions (at SPS, RHIC and LHC) is investigated within different microscopic models. At SPS-energies the predictions range from full stopping to virtually total transparency. Experimental data are indicating strong stopping. The initial baryo-chemical potentials and temperatures at collider energies and their impact on the formation probability of strange baryon clusters and strangelets are discussed.
We reconsider a method based on dispersion theory, that allows one to extract the scattering length of any two-baryon system from corresponding final-state interactions in production reactions. The application of the method to baryon-baryon systems with strangeness S=-2 and S=-3 systems is discussed. Theoretical uncertainties due to the presence of inelastic channels with near-by thresholds are examined for the specific situation of the reaction K^- d -> K^0 Lambda Lambda and the coupling of Lambda Lambda to the Xi N channel. The possibility to disentangle spin-triplet and spin-singlet scatter…
Recent developments of chiral effective field theory (ChEFT) applications to nuclear and neutron matter are summarized, with special emphasis on a (non-perturbative) extension using functional renormalisation group methods. Topics include: nuclear thermodynamics, extrapolations to dense baryonic matter and constraints from neutron star observables. Hyperon-nuclear interactions derived from SU(3) will be discussed with reference to the "hyperon puzzle" in neutron star matter.
We derive a simple relation between strangeness neutrality and baryon-strangeness correlations. In heavy-ion collisions, the former is a consequence of quark number conservation of the strong interactions while the latter are sensitive probes of the character of QCD matter. This relation allows us to directly extract baryon-strangeness correlations from the strangeness chemical potential at strangeness neutrality. The explicit calculations are performed within a low energy theory of QCD with 2+1 dynamical quark flavors at finite temperature and density. Non-perturbative quark and hadron fluctu…
Differential cross-section and single polarization observables in the process gamma p --> K^+ Lambda are investigated within a constituent quark model and a dynamical coupled-channel formalism. The effects of two new nucleon resonances and of the K*(892)- and K1(1270)-exchanges are briefly presented.
Using the generalized Pauli principle by adding particle labels to the usual space and spin labels a symmetric Hamiltonian and a corresponding antisymmetric wavefunction is constructed for systems of three baryons in the strangeness sectors $S=-1$ and -2. Applications are the $ΞNN-ΛΛN$ and $NNΛ-NNΣ$ systems. Minimal sets of generalized coupled Faddeev equations for breakup and rearrangement operators as well as (possible) bound states are derived which have the ordinary Pauli principle among identical particles built in. The equations found confirm our previous sets of coupled Faddeev equation…
Within the framework of the improved isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics (ImIQMD) model, the dynamics of strangeness (K$^{0,+}$, $Λ$ and $Σ^{-,0,+}$) production in heavy-ion collisions near threshold energies is investigated systematically, in which the strange particles are considered to be mainly produced by the inelastic collisions of baryon-baryon and pion-baryon. The collisions in the region of supra-saturation densities of the dense baryonic matter formed in heavy-ion collisions dominate the yields of strangeness production. The total multiplicities as functions of incident ener…
We study the thermodynamical properties of compressed baryonic matter with strangeness within non-relativistic energy density functional models with a particular emphasis on possible phase transitions found earlier for a simple $n,p,e,Λ$-mixture. The aim of the paper is twofold: I) examining the phase structure of the complete system, including the full baryonic octet and II) testing the sensitivity of the results to the model parameters. We find that, associated to the onset of the different hyperonic families, up to three separate strangeness-driven phase transitions may occur. Consequently,…
Baryon-strangeness correlations ($C_{BS}$) are studied with a hadron/string transport approach (UrQMD) and a dynamical quark recombination model (quark molecular dynamics, qMD) for various energies from $E_{lab}=4A$ GeV to $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV. As expected, we find that the hadron/string dynamics shows correlations similar to a simple hadron gas. In case of the quark molecular dynamics, we find that initially the $C_{BS}$ correlation is that of a weakly interacting QGP but changes in the process of hadronization also to the value for a hadron gas. Therefore, we conclude that the hadronizati…
In this talk we review recent progress on the systematic evaluation of the kaon and antikaon spectral functions in dense nuclear matter based on a chiral SU(3) description of the low-energy pion-, kaon- and antikaon-nucleon scattering data.
The strangeness $S=-2$ baryon-baryon interaction is studied in chiral effective field theory up to next-to-leading order. The potential at this order consists of contributions from one- and two-pseudoscalar-meson exchange diagrams and from four-baryon contact terms without and with two derivatives. SU(3) flavor symmetry is imposed for constructing the interaction in the $S=-2$ sector. Specifically, the couplings of the pseudoscalar mesons to the baryons are fixed by SU(3) symmetry and, in general, also the contact terms are related via SU(3) symmetry to those determined in a previous study of …
In this talk we review the important role played by chiral SU(3) symmetry in hadron physics. Exciting new results on the formation of baryon resonances as implied by chiral coupled-channel dynamics are presented and discussed. The results are the consequence of progress made in formulating a consistent effective field theory for the meson-baryon scattering processes in the resonance region. Strangeness channels are found to play a decisive role in the formation of resonances. As a further application of chiral coupled-channel dynamics the properties of antikaons and hyperon resonances in cold …
In this talk we review the consequences of the chiral SU(3) symmetry for strangeness propagation in nuclear matter. Objects of crucial importance are the meson-baryon scattering amplitudes obtained within the chiral coupled-channel effective field theory. Results for antikaon and hyperon-resonance spectral functions in cold nuclear matter are presented and discussed. The importance of the Sigma(1385) resonance for the subthreshold antikaon production in heavy-ion reaction at SIS is pointed out. The in-medium properties of the latter together with an antikaon spectral function based on chiral S…
We review the important role played by the chiral SU(3) symmetry in predicting the properties of antikaons and hyperon resonances in cold nuclear matter. Objects of crucial importance are the meson-baryon scattering amplitudes obtained within the chiral coupled-channel effective field theory. The formation of baryon resonances as implied by chiral coupled-channel dynamics is discussed. Results for antikaon and hyperon-resonance spectral functions are presented for isospin symmetric and asymmetric matter.
The octet meson and baryon interaction with strangeness $S=-1$ is studied fully relativistically with chiral Lagrangian. In this work, a Bethe-Salpeter equation approach with spectator quasipotential approximation is applied to study the reactions $K^-p\to MB$ with $MB=K^-p,\bar{K}^0n, π^-Σ^+,π^0Σ^0, π^+Σ^-$ and $ηΛ$ with all possible partial waves and theoretical results are comparable with experimental data. It is found that the Weinberg-Tomozawa potential derived from the lowest order chiral Lagrangian only provides the contributions from partial waves with spin-parities $J^P=1/2^+$ and $1/…
We present some recent results from soliton model calculations for the spectrum of baryons with a single heavy quark. The model comprises chiral symmetry for light flavors and (approximate) heavy spin-flavor symmetry for the heavy quarks. We focus on flavor symmetry breaking for strangeness degrees of freedom.
Formation mechanism of hyperfragments with strangeness s=-1 and s=-2 in collisions of antikaons on nuclei has been investigated within a microscopic transport model. Dynamics of pseudoscalar mesons and hyperons is modeled within the transport model, in which all possible reaction channels for creating hyperons such as the elastic scattering, resonance production and decay, strangeness exchange reaction and direct strangeness production in meson-baryon and baryon-baryon collisions have been included. A coalescence approach is developed for constructing hyperfragments in phase space and the deca…
We apply a quark model developed in earlier work to the spectrum of baryons with strangeness -2 and -3. The model describes a number of well-established baryons successfully, and application to cascade baryons allows the quantum numbers of some known states to be deduced.
Studies of the baryon-baryon interaction involving hyperons within chiral effective field theory, so far performed up to next-to-leading order (NLO) in the chiral expansion, have shown that for the strangeness $S=-1$ ($ΛN$, $ΣN$) and $S=-2$ ($ΛΛ$, $ΞN$) sectors a consistent and satisfactory description of the available scattering data and experimental constraints can be achieved based on the assumption of broken SU(3) flavor symmetry. We explore the possible extension of this approach at the NLO level to strangeness $S=-3$ and $S=-4$ baryon-baryon systems where empirical information is rather …
We examine the presence of strangeness-bearing components, hyperons and kaons, in dense neutron star matter. Calculations are performed using relativistic mean field models, in which both the baryon-baryon and kaon-baryon interactions are mediated by meson exchange. Results of kaon condensation are found to be qualitatively similar to previous work with chiral models, if compatibility of the kaon optical potentials is required. The presence of strangeness, be it in the form of hyperons or kaons, implies a reduction in the maximum mass and a relatively large number of protons, sufficient to all…
In this talk a brief review of several problems involving systems with strangeness is made. In the first place one shows how the $Λ(1405)$, $Λ(1670)$ and $Σ(1620)$ states, for $S = -1$, and the $Ξ(1620)$ for $S= -2$ are generated dynamically in the context of unitarized chiral perturbation theory. The results for the $\bar{K}N$ interaction are then used to evaluate the $K^- d$ scattering length. Results obtained for the kaon selfenergy in a nuclear medium within this approach, with application to $K^-$ atoms, are also mentioned. Finally a few words are said about recent developments in the wea…
The structures of $NΩ_{(2,1/2)}$ and $ΔΩ_{(3,3/2)}$ with strangeness $s=-3$ are dynamically studied in both the chiral SU(3) quark model and the extended chiral SU(3) quark model by solving a resonating group method (RGM) equation. The first model parameters are taken from our previous work, which gave a satisfactory description of the energies of the baryon ground states, the binding energy of the deuteron, the nucleon-nucleon(NN) scattering phase shifts, and the hyperon-nucleon (YN) cross sections. The effect from the vector meson fields is very similar to that from the one-gluon exchange in…
We present results from a chiral soliton model calculation for the spectrum of baryons with a single heavy quark (charm or bottom) and non-zero strangeness. We treat the strange components within a three flavor collective coordinate quantization of the soliton that fully accounts for light flavor symmetry breaking. Heavy baryons emerge by binding a heavy meson to the soliton. The dynamics of this heavy meson is described by the heavy quark effective theory with finite mass effects included.
We explore the presence of thermodynamic instabilities and, con\-se\-quen\-tly, the realization of a pure hadronic phase transition in the hot and finite baryon density nuclear matter. The analysis is performed by means of an effective relativistic mean-field model with the inclusion of hyperons, $Δ$-isobars, and the lightest pseudoscalar and vector meson degrees of freedom. The Gibbs conditions on the global conservation of baryon number and zero net strangeness in symmetric nuclear matter are required. Similarly to the liquid-gas phase transition, we show that a phase transition, characteriz…
We study the S-wave interaction of mesons with baryons in the strangeness S=0 sector in a coupled channel unitary approach. The basic dynamics is drawn from the lowest order meson baryon chiral Lagrangians. Small modifications inspired by models with explicit vector meson exchange in the t-channel are also considered. In addition the pi pi N channel is included and shown to have an important repercussion in the results, particularly in the isospin 3/2 sector.
We review the status as regards the existence of three- and four-body bound states made of neutrons and $Λ$ hyperons. For interesting cases, the coupling to neutral baryonic systems made of charged particles of different strangeness has been addressed. There are strong arguments showing that the $Λnn$ system has no bound states. $ΛΛnn$ strong stable states are not favored by our current knowledge of the strangeness $-1$ and $-2$ baryon-baryon interactions. However, a possible $Ξ^- t$ quasibound state decaying to $ΛΛnn$ might exist in nature. Similarly, there is a broad agreement about the none…
We present for the first time quantitative results for the coupled dynamics of second order fluctuations in the three conserved charges of QCD based on stochastic diffusion equations for a Bjorken-type expanding hadronic medium.
Non-perturbative QCD vacuum effects at finite density are parametrized by means of a bag constant $B$. It is extracted from a Nambu- Jona Lasinio model with two or three flavors. The parameter $B$ is used in an effective quark-meson coupling model to study the nuclear phenomenology. We examine the nucleon structure and the thermodynamical properties of symmetric nuclear matter, particular attention is paid to the symmetry energy and to the eventual phase transition to deconfined quark matter. An alternative sketch of the binding mechanism of symmetric nuclear matter emerges within this approac…
Properties of hypernuclei $_{ΛΛ}^5$H and $_{ΛΛ}^5$He are studied in a two-channel approach with explicit treatment of coupling of channels ^3\text{Z}+Λ+Λand α+Ξ. Diagonal ΛΛand coupling ΛΛ-ΞN interactions are derived within G-matrix procedure from Nijmegen meson-exchange models. Bond energy ΔB_{ΛΛ} in $_{ΛΛ}^5$He exceeds significantly that in $_{ΛΛ}^5$H due to the channel coupling. Diagonal Ξαattraction amplifies the effect, which is sensitive also to Λ-core interaction. The difference of the ΔB_{ΛΛ} values can be an unambiguous signature of the ΛΛ-ΞN coupling in ΛΛhypernuclei. However, improv…
The chiral quark model describes the strangeness components of the light quarks as fluctuations into strange mesons and quarks. The single strange pseudoscalar and vector meson loop fluctuations of the constituent $u$- and $d$-quarks give rise to only very small strangeness form factors for the proton. This result is in line with recent experimental results, given their wide uncertainty range.
The implications of chiral symmetry breaking and SU(3) symmetry breaking have been studied in the chiral constituent quark model ($χ$CQM). The role of hidden strangeness component has been investigated for the scalar matrix elements of the nucleon with an emphasis on the meson-nucleon sigma terms. The $χ$CQM is able to give a qualitative and quantitative description of the "quark sea" generation through chiral symmetry breaking. The significant contribution of the strangeness is consistent with the recent available experimental observations.
Using quenched lattice QCD simulations we investigate the continuum limit of baryon-strangeness correlation and other related conserved charge-flavour correlations for temperatures T_c<T\le2T_c. By working with lattices having large temporal extents (N_τ=12, 10, 8, 4) we find that these quantities are almost independent of the lattice spacing, i.e, robust. We also find that these quantities have very mild dependence on the sea quark mass and acquire values which are very close to their respective ideal gas limits. Our results also confirm robustness of the Wroblewski parameter.
In view of the renewing experimental interest for searching strangeness $+1$ baryons at J-PARC, we study the existence of light baryon resonances with strangeness +1 generated in the $K$-$(N^*/Δ^*)$ system, where $N^*$ represents either $N^*(1535)$/$N^*(1650)$/$N^*(1700)$, and $Δ^*$ corresponds to $Δ(1620)$. The description of the properties of the aforementioned states requires considering the dynamics involved in the coupled pseudoscalar-baryon and vector-baryon systems with strangeness $S=0$ in the s-wave. For the purpose of our current study, we consider the pseudoscalar-baryon (PB) and ve…
The recent Investigations in the chiral quark model show that kaon productions of nucleon play an important role in understanding the structure of baryons. The evidences of a third $S_{11}$ resonance in the second resonance region and two narrow states around 2 GeV suggest a set of the molecular type baryons with hidden strangeness. Confirming these states requires further theoretical and experimental studies of the strangeness production.
Within the microscopic transport, systematic investigation of the many facets of hyperons and hypernuclei up to strangeness $S = -2$ are carried out for $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au and $^{40}$Ca + $^{40}$Ca at the incident energy of $3A$ GeV. The spatial, temporal and density distributions of hyperon production, absorption and freeze-out are thoroughly investigated. The rapidity and kinetic energy spectra of $Ξ$ hyperons and double $Λ$ hypernuclei are analyzed. It is revealed that the chemical balance of hyperon production is established in baryon-baryon channels while the opposite is found in bar…
The nucleon's strange-quark vector current form factors are studied from the perspective of chiral symmetry. It is argued that chiral perturbation theory cannot yield a prediction for the strangeness radius and magnetic moment. Arrival at definite predictions requires the introduction of additional, model-dependent assumptions which go beyond the framework of chiral perturbation theory. A variety of such model predictions is surveyed, and the credibility of each is evaluated. The most plausible prediction appears in a model where the unknown chiral counterterms are identified with $t$-channel …
We report on the recent studies of leading order baryon-baryon interactions in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory. In the strangeness $S=0$ sector, one can achieve a rather good description of the Nijmegen $np$ phase shifts with angular momenta $J\leq 1$, particularly the $^1S_0$ and $^3P_0$ partial waves, comparable with the next-to-leading order (NLO) heavy baryon approach. In the strangeness $S=-1$ hyperon-nucleon sector, the best fit of the 36 scattering data is similar to the sophisticated phenomenological models and the NLO heavy baryon approach.
We study the strangeness production in hot and dense nuclear medium, by requiring the conservation of the baryon density, electric charge fraction and zero net strangeness. The hadronic equation of state is investigated by means of an effective relativistic mean field model, with the inclusion of the full octet of baryons and kaon mesons. Kaons are considered taking into account of an effective chemical potential depending on the self-consistent interaction between baryons. The obtained results are compared with a minimal coupling scheme, calculated for different values of the anti-kaon optica…
The correlation between baryon number and strangeness elucidates the nature of strongly interacting matter, such as that formed transiently in high-energy nuclear collisions. This diagnostic can be extracted theoretically from lattice QCD calculations and experimentally from event-by-event fluctuations. The analysis of present lattice results above the critical temperature severely limits the presence of q-qbar bound states, thus supporting a picture of independent (quasi)quarks.
We calculate the evolution of quark-gluon-plasma droplets during the hadronization in a thermodynamical model. It is speculated that cooling as well as strangeness enrichment allow for the formation of strangelets even at very high initial entropy per baryon $S/A^{\rm init}\approx 500$ and low initial baryon numbers of $A_{\rm B}^{\rm init}\approx 30$. It is shown that the droplet with vanishing initial chemical potential of strange quarks and a very moderate chemical potential of up/down quarks immediately charges up with strangeness. Baryon densities of $\approx 2ρ_0$ and strange chemical po…
Strange particle enhancement in relativistic ion collisions is discussed with particular attention to the dependence on the size of the volume and/or the baryon number of the system.
We consider meson-baryon interactions in S-wave with strangeness -1. This is a non-perturbative sector populated by plenty of resonances interacting in several two-body coupled channels. We study this sector combining a large set of experimental data. The recent experiments are remarkably accurate demanding a sound theoretical description to account for all the data. We employ unitary chiral perturbation theory up to and including \cal{O}(p^2) to accomplish this aim. The spectroscopy of our solutions is studied within this approach, discussing the rise from the pole content of the two Λ(1405) r…
We have solved for the first time the Faddeev equations for the bound state problem of the coupled $ΛΛN$--$ΞNN$ system to study whether an hypertriton with strangeness -2 may exist or not. We make use of the interactions obtained from a chiral quark model describing the low-energy observables of the two-baryon systems with strangeness 0, -1, and -2 and three-baryon systems with strangeness 0 and -1. The $ΛΛN$ system alone is unbound. However, when the full coupling to $ΞNN$ is considered, the strangeness -2 three-baryon system with quantum numbers $(I,J^P)=(1/2,1/2^+)$ becomes bound, with a bi…
We calculate a resummed equation of state with lattice QCD simulations at imaginary chemical potentials. This work presents a generalization of the scheme introduced in 2102.06660 to the case of non-zero $μ_S$, focusing on the line of strangeness neutrality. We present results up to $μ_B/T \leq 3.5$ on the strangeness neutral line $\left\langle S \right\rangle = 0$ in the temperature range $130 \rm{MeV} \leq T \leq 280 \rm{MeV}$. We also extrapolate the finite baryon density equation of state to small non-zero values of the strangeness-to-baryon ratio $R=\left\langle S \right\rangle / \left\la…
Since the incident nuclei in heavy-ion collisions do not carry strangeness, the global net strangeness of the detected hadrons has to vanish. We show that there is an intimate relation between strangeness neutrality and baryon-strangeness correlations. In the context of heavy-ion collisions, the former is a consequence of quark number conservation of the strong interactions while the latter are sensitive probes of the character of QCD matter. We investigate the sensitivity of baryon-strangeness correlations on the freeze-out conditions of heavy-ion collisions by studying their dependence on te…
We present our recent studies on hyperon-nucleon (YN) interactions in the strangeness S=-1 that $pΛ, Σ^0 p$ and $Σ^+ n$, by extracting corresponding potentials through Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter wave functions. We calculate $ΛN$ and $ΣN$ potentials in the isospin I=3/2 channel, using the $N_f=2+1$ gauge configurations generated by PACS-CS collaboration and employing an improved method to obtain potentials in lattice QCD simulations. For the $^1S_0$ channel, the central $ΣN (I=3/2, ^1S_0)$ potential and the central $ΛN (^1S_0)$ potential are found to be very similar. In the spin triplet ($^3S_1-^3D_1…
The meson-baryon interactions in s-wave in the strangeness S=-1 sector are studied using a chiral unitarity approach based on the next-to-leading order chiral SU(3) Lagrangian. The model is fitted to the large set of experimental data in different two-body channels. Particular attention is paid to the $Ξ$ hyperon production reaction, $\bar{K} N \rightarrow K Ξ$, where the effect of the next-to-leading order terms in the Lagrangian play a crucial role, since the cross section of this reaction at tree level is zero.
We consider meson-baryon interactions in S-wave with strangeness -1. This is a sector populated by plenty of resonances interacting in several two-body coupled channels. We consider a large set of experimental data, where the recent experiments are remarkably accurate. This requires a sound theoretical description to account for all the data and we employ Unitary Chiral Perturbation Theory up to and including O(p^2). The spectroscopy of our solutions is studied within this approach, discussing the rise from the pole content of two Λ(1405) resonances and of the Λ(1670), Λ(1800), Σ(1480), Σ(1620…
We study as function of energy strangeness created in relativistic heavy ion collisions. We consider statistical hadronization with chemical freeze-out in both equilibrium and nonequilibrium. We obtain strangeness per baryon and per entropy in the energy range $8.75\lessim\sqrt{s_{NN}}\lessim 200 A$ GeV. A baryon density independent evaluation of the kaon to pion ratio is presented.
The newest progress on the study of the strangeness in the proton and in the lowest negative parity nucleon excited state $N^*(1535)$ is reviewed. Implications on the internal quark structure of the proton, $N^*(1535)$ and other baryons are discussed. The diquark cluster picture for the 5-quark components in baryons gives a natural explanation not only to the empirical indications for a positive strangeness magnetic moment $μ_s$ and positive strangeness radius of the proton but also the longstanding mass-reverse problem of $N^*(1535)$, $N^*(1440)$ and $Λ^*(1405)$ resonances as well as the unus…
Leading three-baryon forces are derived within SU(3) chiral effective field theory. Three classes of irreducible diagrams contribute: three-baryon contact terms, one-meson exchange and two-meson exchange diagrams. We provide the minimal non-relativistic terms of the chiral Lagrangian, that contribute to these diagrams. SU(3) relations are given for the strangeness S=0 and -1 sectors. In the strangeness-zero sector we recover the well-known three-nucleon forces from chiral effective field theory. Explicit expressions for the lambda-nucleon-nucleon chiral potential in isospin space are presented…
We construct an equation of state for Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) at finite temperature and chemical potentials for baryon number $B$, electric charge $Q$ and strangeness $S$. We use the Taylor expansion method, up to the fourth power for the chemical potentials. This requires the knowledge of all diagonal and non-diagonal $BQS$ correlators up to fourth order: these results recently became available from lattice QCD simulations, albeit only at a finite lattice spacing $N_t=12$. We smoothly merge these results to the Hadron Resonance Gas (HRG) model, to be able to reach temperatures as low as …
Starting from a consistent SU(6) extension of the Weinberg-Tomozawa (WT) meson-baryon chiral Lagrangian (Phys. Rev. D74 (2006) 034025), we study the s-wave meson-baryon resonances in the strangeness S=-3 and negative parity sector. Those resonances are generated by solving the Bethe-Salpeter equation with the WT interaction used as kernel. The considered mesons are those of the 35-SU(6)-plet, which includes the pseudoscalar (PS) octet of pions and the vector (V) nonet of the rho meson. For baryons we consider the 56-SU(6)-plet, made of the 1/2+ octet of the nucleon and the 3/2+ decuplet of the…
