In this work we extend the residue theory from flag of holomorphic foliations to flag of holomorphic distributions and we provide an effective way to calculate this class in certain cases. As a consequence, we show that if we consider a flag $\mathcal{F} = (\mathcal{F}_{1}, \mathcal{F}_{2})$ of holomorphic distributions on $\mathbb{P}^{3}$, we get a relation between the degrees of the distributions in the flag, the tangency order of distributions, the Euler characteristic and the degree of the curve $C.$
In this work we prove a Baum-Bott type residue theorem for flags of holomorphic foliations. We prove some relations between the residues of the flag and the residues of their correspondent foliations. We define the Nash residue for flags and we give a partial answer to the Baum-Bott type rationality conjecture in this context .
Let $\mathscr{F}$ be a singular holomorphic foliation, of codimension $k$, on a complex compact manifold such that its singular set has codimension $\geq k+1$. In this work we determinate Baum-Bott residues for $\mathscr{F}$ with respect to homogeneous symmetric polynomials of degree $k+1$. We drop the Baum-Bott's generic hypothesis and we show that the residues can be expressed in terms of the Grothendieck residue of an one-dimensional foliation on a $(k+1)$-dimensional disc transversal to a $(k+1)$-codimensional component of the singular set of $\mathscr{F}$. Also, we show that Cenkl's algor…
In this article the generic torus orbit closure in a flag Bott manifold is shown to be a non-singular toric variety, and its fan structure is explicitly calculated.
We introduce the notion of flag Bott-Samelson variety as a generalization of Bott-Samelson variety and flag variety. Using a birational morphism from an appropriate Bott-Samelson variety to a flag Bott-Samelson variety, we compute Newton-Okounkov bodies of flag Bott-Samelson varieties as generalized string polytopes, which are applied to give polyhedral expressions for irreducible decompositions of tensor products of $G$-modules. Furthermore, we show that flag Bott-Samelson varieties are degenerated into flag Bott manifolds with higher rank torus actions, and find the Duistermaat-Heckman measu…
In this paper, we construct stable Bott--Samelson classes in the projective limit of the algebraic cobordism rings of full flag varieties, upon an initial choice of a reduced word in a given dimension. Each stable Bott--Samelson class is represented by a bounded formal power series modulo symmetric functions in positive degree. We make some explicit computations for those power series in the case of infinitesimal cohomology. We also obtain a formula of the restriction of Bott--Samelson classes to smaller flag varieties.
Let $\SF^a_λ$ be the degenerate symplectic flag variety. These are projective singular irreducible $\bG_a^M$ degenerations of the classical flag varieties for symplectic group $Sp_{2n}$. We give an explicit construction for the varieties $\SF^a_λ$ and construct their desingularizations, similar to the Bott-Samelson resolutions in the classical case. We prove that $\SF^a_\la$ are normal locally complete intersections with terminal and rational singularities. We also show that these varieties are Frobenius split. Using the above mentioned results, we prove an analogue of the Borel-Weil-Bott theo…
We construct a basis of the equivariant $K$-theory of Bott towers, and we describe precisely the multiplicative structure of these algebras. We deduce similar results for Bott-Samelson varieties. Thanks to the link between flag varieties and Bott-Samelson varieties, we give a method to compute the structure constants of the equivariant $K$-theory of flag varieties in the basis constructed by Kostant and Kumar.
In the framework of the problem of characterizing complete flag manifolds by their contractions, the complete flags of type $F_4$ and $G_2$ satisfy the property that any possible tower of Bott-Samelson varieties dominating them birationally deforms in a nontrivial moduli. In this paper we illustrate the fact that, at least in some cases, these deformations can be explained in terms of automorphisms of Schubert varieties, providing variations of certain isotropic structures on them. As a corollary, we provide a unified and completely algebraic proof of the characterization of complete flag mani…
We compute the Newton--Okounkov bodies of line bundles on a Bott--Samelson resolution of the complete flag variety of $GL_n$ for a geometric valuation coming from a flag of translated Schubert subvarieties. The Bott--Samelson resolution corresponds to the decomposition $(s_1)(s_2s_1)(s_3s_2s_1)(\ldots)(s_{n-1}\ldots s_1)$ of the longest element in the Weyl group, and the Schubert subvarieties correspond to the terminal subwords in this decomposition. We prove that the resulting Newton--Okounkov polytopes for semiample line bundles satisfy the additivity property with respect to the Minkowski s…
We use the theory of Mori dream spaces to prove that the global Okounkov body of a Bott-Samelson variety with respect to a natural flag of subvarieties is rational polyhedral. In fact, we prove more generally that this holds for any Mori dream space which admits a flag of Mori dream spaces satisfying a certain regularity condition. As a corollary, Okounkov bodies of effective line bundles over Schubert varieties are shown to be rational polyhedral. In particular, it follows that the global Okounkov body of a flag variety $G/B$ is rational polyhedral. As an application we show that the asymptot…
We compute the cohomology of modules over the algebra of twisted chiral differential operators over the flag manifold. This is applied to (1) finding the character of $G$-integrable irreducible highest weight modules over the affine Lie algebra at the critical level, and (2) computing a certain elliptic genus of the flag manifold. The main tool is a result that interprets the Drinfeld-Sokolov reduction as a derived functor.
We prove that, defined with respect to versal flags, the product of two relative Bott-Samelson varieties over the flag bundle is a resolution of singularities of a relative Richardson variety. This result generalizes Brion's resolution of singularities of Richardson varieties to the relative setting. It reflects the phenomenon that the local geometry of a relative Richardson variety is completely governed by the two intersecting relative Schubert varieties, studied by Chan-Pflueger. We also prove an analogous theorem in the case of relative Grassmannian Richardson varieties, thereby furnishing…
Let $\Fl^a_\la$ be the PBW degeneration of the flag varieties of type $A_{n-1}$. These varieties are singular and are acted upon with the degenerate Lie group $SL_n^a$. We prove that $\Fl^a_\la$ have rational singularities, are normal and locally complete intersections, and construct a desingularization $R_\la$ of $\Fl^a_\la$. The varieties $R_\la$ can be viewed as towers of successive $\bP^1$-fibrations, thus providing an analogue of the classical Bott-Samelson-Demazure-Hansen desingularization. We prove that the varieties $R_\la$ are Frobenius split. This gives us Frobenius splitting for the…
In this work we prove a Baum-Bott type formula for non-compact complex manifold of the form $\tilde{X}=X- \mathcal{D}$, where $X$ is a complex compact manifold and $\mathcal{D}$ is a normal crossing divisor on $X$. As applications, we provide a Poincaré-Hopf type Theorem and an optimal description for a smooth hypersurface $\mathcal{D}$ invariant by an one-dimensional foliation $\mathscr F$ on $\mathbb{P}^n$ satisfying $Sing(\mathscr F) \subsetneq \mathcal{D}.$
We give a new construction of the Bott-Samelson variety $Z$ as the closure of a $B$-orbit in a product of flag varieties $(G/B)^l$. This also gives an embedding of the projective coordinate ring of the variety into the function ring of a Borel subgroup: $\CC[Z] \subset \CC[B]$. In the case of the general linear group $G = GL(n)$, this identifies $Z$ as a configuration variety of multiple flags subject to certain inclusion conditions, closely related to the the matrix factorizations of Berenstein, Fomin and Zelevinsky. As an application, we give a geometric proof of the theorem of Kraskiewicz a…
Noncommutative Kähler structures were recently introduced by the second author as a framework for studying noncommutative Kähler geometry on quantum homogeneous spaces. It was subsequently observed that the notion of a positive vector bundle directly generalises to this setting, as does the Kodaira vanishing theorem. In this paper, by restricting to covariant Kähler structures of irreducible type (those having an irreducible space of holomorphic one-forms) we provide simple cohomological criteria for positivity, offering a means to avoid explicit curvature calculations. These general results a…
This is a survey paper dealing with holomorphic foliations, with emphasis on residue theory and its applications. We start recalling the definition of holomorphic foliations as a subsheaf of the tangent sheaf of a manifold. The theory of Characteristic Classes of vector bundles is approached from this perspective. We define Chern classes of holomorphic foliations using the Chern-Weil theory and we remark that the Baum-Bott residue is a great tool that help us to classify some foliations. We present throughout the survey several recent results and advances in residue theory. We finish by presen…
The purpose of this work is to obtain the degree of the exceptional component of the space of holomorphic foliations of degree two and codimension one in P^3. We construct a parameter space as an explicit fiber bundle over the variety of complete flags. Using tools from equivariant intersection theory, especially Bott's formula, the degree is expressed as an integral over our parameter space.
