Using the most recent experimental data on parameters of the standard electroweak theory, as well as renormalisation group equations with a boundary matching condition, we derive a refined and more accurate value for the mass of the doubly-charged bilepton ($Y^{\pm\pm}$) occurring in the spontaneous breaking of the gauge group $SU(3)_L \times U(1)_X$ to the standard electroweak gauge group $SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y$. Our result is $M(Y^{\pm\pm}) = (1.29 \pm 0.06)$ TeV.
We present a complete calculation of the singly and doubly charged gauge bosons (bileptons) contribution to the static properties of the W boson in the framework of the minimal 331 model, which accommodates the bileptons in an SU_L(2) doublet. A nonlinear R_ξgauge is used and a slightly modified version of the Passarino-Veltman reduction scheme is employed as in this case the Gram determinant vanishes. It is found that the bilepton contribution is of the same order of magnitude as those arising from other weakly coupled renormalizable theories, like the two-Higgs doublet model and supersymmetr…
We establish some signatures of the extra bilepton boson ${X^0}$ predicted in the ${SU (3)_C \times SU (3)_L \times U (1)_X}$ model with right-handed neutrinos. We analyze the process $p + p \longrightarrow X^0 +X^{0*} + {\hbox {anything}}$, for center of mass energy regime of the Large Hadron Collider. The main contributions for the neutral bilepton production in $q \bar q$ process come from the $s-$channel ($Z$ and $Z^\prime$ exchanges), when the initial quarks have charge 2/3, and from an additional $t-$channel (heavy quark exchange) when they have -1/3 of the positron electric charge. We c…
The trilinear gauge boson couplings in the SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_N (3 - 3 - 1) models are presented. We find that new $Z_2$ does not interact with the usual (in the standard model) gauge bosons $Z, W^\pm$. Based on these results, production of new heavy gauge bosons at high energy colliders such as e^+ e^- is calculated. We show that the cross sections obtained in the 3 - 3 - 1 model with right-handed neutrinos can be one order bigger than the same in the minimal 3 - 3 - 1 model.
Mass bounds for doubly-charged bilepton gauge bosons are derived from constraints on fermion pair production at LEP and lepton-flavour violating charged lepton decays. The limit obtained of 700 GeV for the doubly-charged bilepton does not depend on the bilepton coupling being flavour-diagonal, unlike other bounds which have been given in the literature.
In this paper, limits are set on bileptons masses and couplings in the context of the the 331 Model, as well as generic, non-331 Models predicting bileptons. The following measurable processes are studied: $pp \rightarrow \ell^{+}\ell^{+}\ell^{-}\ell^{-}X$, $pp \rightarrow \ell^{+}\ell^{-} ννX$ and $pp \rightarrow \ell^{+}\ell^{-} X$. Experimental limits on singly-charged bileptons masses and couplings within 331 Models are also obtained for the first time. With the results, an over 20 year-old experimental limit on vector bileptons is increased by 60\%. The computed limits are now the most st…
We study the production of bileptons, new gauge boson of lepton number two, in the minimal 3 - 3 - 1 model in high energy electron - photon collisions. If the bilepton masses are in the range of 300 GeV the reaction will give observable cross-sections in the future colliders.
We define bileptons to be bosons coupling to a pair of leptons and construct the most general dimension four lagrangian involving scalar and vector bileptons. We concentrate on fields with lepton number 2, and derive model independent bounds on their masses and couplings from low-energy data. In addition, we study their signals in high energy experiments and forecast the discovery potential of future colliders.
We study the one-loop sensitivity of the WWV (V=gamma, Z) vertex to the new massive gauge bosons predicted by the minimal SU_L(3) X U_X(1) model, which have unusual couplings to the standard model (SM) gauge bosons. A gauge-fixing procedure covariant under the SU_L(2) X U_Y(1) group was introduced for these new gauge bosons (dubbed bileptons) in order to generate gauge-invariant Green functions. The similarities between this procedure and the nonconventional quantization scheme of the background field method are discussed. It is found that, for relatively light bileptons, with a mass ranging f…
Flavordynamics chiral models of leptoquark fermions and bilepton gauge bosons with masses up to about 1 TeV, although coincident at low energy with the standard model, address the question of fermion mass hyerarchy and explain the flavor question. The presence of charged right-handed weak currents coupled to bileptons, which we point out herein, is another remarkable feature of these chiral theories.
In a recent paper, we investigated the effects of the massive charged gauge bosons (bileptons) predicted by the minimal 331 model on the off-shell vertex WWV^* (V=gamma, Z) using a SU_L(2) X U_Y(1) covariant gauge-fixing term for the bileptons. We proceed along the same lines and calculate the effects of the gauge bosons predicted by the 331 model with right-handed neutrinos. It is found that the bilepton effects on the WWV^* vertex are of the same order of magnitude than those arising from the SM and several of its extensions, provided that the bilepton mass is of the order of a few hundred o…
Theoretical backgound for bileptonic gauge bosons is reviewed, both the SU(15) GUT model and the 3-3-1 model. Then the mass limits for bileptons are discussed coming from $e^+e^-$ scattering, polarized muon decay and muonium-antimuonium conversion. A consequence of precision electroweak data on the masses is mentioned. Discovery in $e^-e^-$ at a linear collider is emphasised.

We discuss the main signatures of the Bilepton Model at the Large Hadron Collider, focusing on its gauge boson sector. The model is characterised by five additional gauge bosons, four charged and one neutral, beyond those of the Standard Model, plus three exotic quarks. The latter turn into ordinary quarks with the emission of bilepton doublets $(Y^{++},Y^{+})$ and $(Y^{--},Y^{-})$ of lepton number $L=-2$ and $L=+2$ respectively, with the doubly-charged bileptons decaying into same-sign lepton pairs. We perform a phenomenological analysis investigating processes with two doubly-charged bilepto…
We consider the contributions of the exotic quarks and gauge bosons to the mass difference between the short- and the long-lived neutral kaon states in $SU(3)_C \times SU(3)_L \times U(1)_N$ model. The lower bound $M_{Z'} \sim$ 14 TeV is obtained for the extra neutral gauge boson ${Z'}^0$. Ranges for values of one of the exotic quark masses and quark mixing parameters are also presented.
We discuss a minimal and simple extension of the standard electroweak model and discuss its uniqueness properties. Its most readily testable prediction is the existence of $|Q|= |L|= 2$ gauge bosons, bileptons, which decay into like-sign lepton pairs. We discuss how a discovery could be made at the LHC.
Bosons which couple to two leptons and carry lepton number L=2, generically called bileptons, appear in many extensions of the standard model. We review the present constraints on bilepton parameters coming from low and high energy data. In particular, we point out that the amplitude of $μ-e$ conversion in nuclei is enhanced by large logarithms if compared with the $μ\to eγ$ one. Bilepton couplings will be tested most stringently at future colliders. For wide range of neutrino masses the cross section of one of the processes $e^-e^- (μ^-μ^-)\to \ell_i^-\ell_i^-,$ $i=e,μ, τ,$ mediated by scalar…
A neutral vector boson can possess static electromagnetic properties provided that the associated field is no self-conjugate. This possibility is explored in the $SU_C(3) X SU_L(3) X U_N(1)$ model with right-handed neutrinos, which predicts a complex neutral gauge boson $Y^0$ in a nontrivial representation of the electroweak group. In this model the only nonvanishing form factors are the CP-even ones, which arise from both the quark and gauge sectors, and contribute to the magnetic dipole and the electric quadrupole moments of this neutral particle.
The production of $W^+ W^-$ pair in hadron colliders was calculated up to loop corrections by some authors in the Electroweak standard model (SM) framework. This production was also calculated, at the tree level, in some extensions of the SM such as the vector singlet, the fermion mirror fermion and the vector doublet models by considering the contributions of new neutral gauge bosons and exotic fermions. The obtained results for $e^+ e^-$ and $pp$ collisions pointed out that the new physics contributions are quite important. This motivates us to calculate the production of a more massive char…
The static electromagnetic properties of the $W$ boson, $Δκ$ and $ΔQ$, are calculated in the $SU_L(3)} \times U_X(1)$ model with right-handed neutrinos. The new contributions from this model arise from the gauge and scalar sectors. In the gauge sector there is a new contribution from a complex neutral gauge boson $Y^0$ and a singly-charged gauge boson $Y^\pm$. The mass of these gauge bosons, called bileptons, is expected to be in the range of a few hundreds of GeV according to the current bounds from experimental data. If the bilepton masses are of the order of 200 GeV, the size of their contr…
Interactions among the standard model gauge bosons and scalar fields in the framework of SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X gauge model with minimal (economical) Higgs content are presented. From these couplings, all scalar fields including the neutral scalar $h$ and the Goldstone bosons can be identified and their couplings with the usual gauge bosons such as the photon, the charged $W^\pm$ and the neutral $Z$, without any additional condition, are recovered. In the effective approximation, full content of scalar sector can be recognized. The CP-odd part of Goldstone associated with the neutral non-H…
We provide a detailed analysis of the decays of doubly-charged bilepton gauge bosons $Y^{\pm\pm}$, as predicted in models based on a $SU(3)_C\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ symmetry. In addition to the decay modes into same-sign lepton pairs, which were already investigated in scenarios wherein each branching ratio was about one third, there are, depending on the mass spectrum, possible non-leptonic decays which reduce the leptonic rates. These non-leptonic decays are typically into a light quark (antiquark) and a heavy TeV-scale antiquark (quark), which carries double lepton number and decays vi…
In this report the SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X gauge model with minimal scalar sector, two Higgs triplets, is presented in detail. One of the vacuum expectation values $u$ is a source of lepton-number violations and a reason for mixing among charged gauge bosons--the standard model W^\pm and the bilepton gauge bosons Y^\pm as well as among the neutral non-Hermitian bilepton X^0 and neutral gauge bosons--the Z and the new Z'. An exact diagonalization of the neutral gauge boson sector is derived and bilepton mass splitting is also given. Because of these mixings, the lepton-number violating inter…
We present an analysis on the production of two same-sign lepton pairs at the LHC, mediated by bileptons in the $SU(3)_c\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ theory, the so-called 331 model. Compared to other 331 scenarios, in this model the embedding of the hypercharge is obtained with the addition of 3 exotic quarks and doubly-charged vector gauge bosons with lepton numbers $\pm 2$ in the spectrum ($Y^{\pm\pm}$), which can mediate the production of four-lepton final states. Furthermore, a complete description of the model requires the introduction of a Higgs scalar sector, which is a sextet of $SU(3)…
The deviation $\de Q_{\mathrm{W}}$ of the weak charge from its standard model prediction due to the mixing of the $W$ boson with the charged bilepton $Y$ as well as of the $Z$ boson with the neutral $Z'$ and the real part of the non-Hermitian neutral bilepton $X$ in the economical 3-3-1 model is established. Additional contributions to the usual $\de Q_\mathrm{W}$ expression in the extra $\mathrm{U}(1)$ models and the left-right models are obtained. Our calculations are quite different from previous analyzes in this kind of the 3-3-1 models and give the limit on mass of the $Z'$ boson, the $Z-…
Contribution from new gauge bosons in the 3 - 3 - 1 models to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, mass difference of the kaon system and rare kaon decay are calculated and numerically estimated. Bounds on masses of new gauge bosons: bileptons and Z' are derived.
The $SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X$ gauge model with the minimal scalar sector (two Higgs triplets) is studied in detail. One of the vacuum expectation values $u$ is a source of lepton-number violations and a reason for the mixing among the charged gauge bosons - the standard model $W$ and the bilepton (with L=2) gauge bosons as well as among neutral non-Hermitian $X^0$ and neutral gauge bosons: the photon, the $Z$ and the new $Z'$. Because of these mixings, the lepton-number violating interactions exist in both charged and neutral gauge boson sectors. An exact diagonalization of the neutral gaug…
We address the question of the possible existence of massive gauge bosons beyond the $W^{\pm}$ and $Z^{0}$ of the standard model. Our intuitive and aesthetic approach is based on quiver theory. Examples thereof arise, for example, from compactification of the type IIB superstring on $AdS_5 \times S_5/ Z_n$ orbifolds. We explore the quiver theory framework more generally than string theory. The practical question is what gauge bosons to look for at the upgraded LHC, in terms of color and electric charge, and of their couplings to quarks and leptons. Axigluons and bileptons are favored.
We build a supersymmetric version of a recently proposed SU(3)xSU(3)xU(1)X model with heavy charged lepton and no bilepton gauge bosons. The model is an anomaly free, three generation extension of the Standard model with SU(3)L x U(1)gauge symmetry. The scalar sector of the 3-3-1 model is analyzed to obtain mass spectra for neutral and charged Higgs bosons and their interactions with gauge bosons, quarks, leptons. The tree-level decay width of Higgs bosons at TeV energies is presented.
We study the process $e^- + e^+ \to e^+ + e^+ + e^- + e^-$ for ILC and CLIC energy regimes, in the minimal 3-3-1 model framework. The main contributions, for the production of two bileptons each one decaying into two same-sign leptons, come from s-channel annihilation ({\it via} $γ, Z$ and ${Z^\prime}$) and t-channel electron exchange. We evaluate the number of events for an extra neutral gauge boson mass $M_{Z^\prime}$ in the range 1 TeV to 3 TeV. We compare some distributions from 3-3-1 model with the Standard Model background in order to extract a possible signature of the contribution of b…
The most efficient way to extend the Standard Model of particle theory so that it accommodates the observed B anomalies is the hypothesis of a leptoquark which is a color-triplet weak-singlet boson with electric charge $Q=+\frac{2}{3}$. We point out that SU(15) grand unification with a scalar leptoquark in the adjoint representation gives a natural explanation for the violation of lepton flavour universality. We briefly discuss biquarks and bileptons.
Heavy vector-boson hunting is one of the major analyses undertaken by the experiments carried out at the LHC. I will explore two scenarios which have not been investigated yet by the experimental collaborations. The first scenario consists in searching for Z' bosons, predicted by U(1)' GUT-inspired models, by studying its supersymmetric decays, leading to resonant final states with charged leptons and missing energy. Afterwards, I shall discuss the 331 model and the production of doubly-charged vector bileptons, yielding events with two same-sign lepton pairs at the LHC.
The $\mathrm {SU}(3)_C\otimes \mathrm {SU}(3)_L \otimes {\mathrm U}(1)_X$ gauge model with two Higgs triplets (the economical 3-3-1 model) are presented. This model predicts a new singly-charged Higgs bosons $H_2^\pm$, namely a scalar bilepton (a particle of lepton number 2) with mass proportional to the bilepton mass $M_Y$ through the coefficient $\la_4$. Pair production of $H_2^\pm$ at high energy $e^+ e^-$ colliders with polarization of $e^+$, $e^-$ beams was studied in detail. Numerical evaluation shows that if Higgs mass is not too heavy and at high degree of polarization then the reactio…
This work is devoted for gauge boson sector of the recently proposed model based on SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X group with minimal content of leptons and Higgses. The limits on the masses of the bilepton gauge bosons and on the mixing angle among the neutral ones are deduced. Using the Fritzsch anzats on quark mixing, we show that the third family of quarks should be different from the first two. We obtain a lower bound on mass of the new heavy neutral gauge boson as 6.051 TeV. Using data on branching decay rates of the $Z$ boson, we can fix the limit to the Z and Z^prime mixing angle phi as $-…
We present a 3-3-1 model as a subgroup of SU(4)PS X SU(4)L+R gauge symmetry with symmetry-breaking pattern SU(4)->SU(3) X U(1) for both SU(4) groups. A Pleitez-Frampton type of 3C-3L-1X model is obtained with charged heavy leptons and SU(3)L gauge bosons (B-L= 0) which are not bileptons. The neutral gauge bosons include gamma,Z,Z'and a fourth Z" which decouples from rest but couples to ordinary fermions. The two-body decay rates for Z' are presented along with their mixings and interactions.
We show that the mass matrix of electrically neutral gauge bosons in the recently proposed model based on SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X group with three lepton singlets [1] has two exact eigenvalues: a zero corresponding the photon mass and the second one equaling the mass of the imaginary component A_5μ}. Hence the neutral non-Hermitian gauge boson X^0_μ( defined as \sqrt{2} X^0_μ= A'_ 4μ- i A_5μ) is properly determined. With extra vacuum expectation value of the Higgs field n_2, there are mixings among the Standard Model W boson and the extra charged gauge boson Y carrying lepton number 2 (bile…
In this work we present an extension of the Standard model as a local gauge group SU(3)c x SU(4)L x U(1)X embedded in SU(3)c x SU(4)L x U(1)Y0 x U(1)B-L gauge group. The U(1)Y0 gauge symmetry is introduced to obtain an anomaly-free three- generation model without exotic electric charges .A minimal scalar sector is considered with two Higgs 4-Plet representations of SU(4)L and a singlet scalar The 15-plet gauge bosons of SU(4)L contain two new neutral bosons which mix with Standard model W. The (B-L) charge is assigned to U(1)B-L gauge symmetry so thatSU(4)L gauge bosons do not contain bilepton…
This paper includes two main parts. In the first part, we present generalized gauge models based on SU(3)_C x SU(4)_L x U(1)_X (3-4-1) gauge group with arbitrary electric charge of leptons. The mixing matrix of neutral gauge bosons is analysed, the eigenmasses and eigenstates are obtained. The anomaly free as well as matching conditions are discussed precisely. In the second part, we present new development of the original 3-4-1 model [1,2]. In difference from previous works, in this paper the neutrinos, with the help of the decuplet H, get the Dirac masses at the tree level. The VEV of the Hi…
The two-body decays of the extra neutral boson Z_2 predicted by the minimal 331 model are analyzed. At the three-level it can decay into standard model particles as well as exotic quarks and the new gauge bosons predicted by the model. The decays into a lepton pair are strongly suppressed, with $Br(Z_2 --> l^+l^-) ~ 10^{-2}$ and $Br(Z_2 --> \barν_l ν) ~ 10^{-3}$. In the bosonic sector, Z_2 would decay mainly into a pair of bilepton gauge bosons, with a branching ratio below the 0.1 level. The Z_2 boson has thus a leptophobic and bileptophobic nature and it would decay dominantly into quark pai…
We obtain bounds for the mass of the extra neutral gauge boson, ${Z^\prime}$, predicted by two versions of ${SU (3)_C \times SU (3)_L \times U (1)_X}$ model, namely one corresponding to its minimal version and another where the neutrinos are allowed to have right-handed projection. We explore $\sqrt s$ from 0.5 TeV to 5 TeV region, that will be accessible in next linear colliders (ILC and CLIC). We used the process $e^+ + e^- \longrightarrow f^+ + f^-$, with $f=μ$, $c$ and $b$ to obtain the energy dependent lower bounds for $M_{Z^\prime}$, within 95% C.L., by performing a $χ^{2}$ fit of the di…
We refine our recent analysis of the electroweak precision data at the \PZO\ pole by including the hadronic decay modes of the \PZO. Within the framework of an effective Lagrangian we parametrize $SU(2)$ violation by the additional process-specific parameters $\De y_ν$, $\De\yh$, and $\De\yb$ (for the $\PZOν\barν$, $\PZO\Pq\bar\Pq$, and $\PZO\Pb\bar\Pb$ vertices) together with the previously introduced parameters $\De x$, $\De y$, and $\eps$. We find that a six-parameter analysis of the experimental data is indeed feasible, and it is carried out in addition to a four-parameter fit for $\De x$,…
We elaborate on a recently suggested effective Lagrangian for charged-current and neutral-current electroweak interactions which in comparison with the standard electroweak theory contains three free parameters $Δx, Δy$, $\varepsilon$ which quantify different sources for violations of $SU(2)$ symmetry. Within the standard $SU(2)_I \times U(1)_Y$ electroweak theory, we present both exact and very much refined approximate analytical one-loop expressions for these parameters in terms of the canonical input, $G_μ, \MZ$, $\alpz$, the top-quark mass, $\Mt$, and the Higgs-boson mass, $\MH$. We reemph…
We continue the study of the nonrelativistic short-distance completions of a naturally light Higgs, focusing on the interplay between the gauge symmetries and the polynomial shift symmetries. We investigate the naturalness of nonrelativistic scalar quantum electrodynamics with a dynamical critical exponent $z=3$ by computing leading power law divergences to the scalar propagator in this theory. We find that power law divergences exhibit a more refined structure in theories that lack boost symmetries. Finally, in this toy model, we show that it is possible to preserve a fairly large hierarchy b…
The apparent absence of new heavy states at the LHC below the TeV scale points that there is a gap in the electroweak energy spectrum. This scenario is conveniently described through the electroweak effective theory, an effective description that contains the Standard Model fields and symmetries. A generic non-linear realization of the electroweak symmetry breaking pattern $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R \to SU(2)_{L+R}$ with a singlet Higgs is adopted, with no assumption about how it couples to the Standard Model. To seek for heavy particles, we formulate the electroweak resonance theory as the most…
Precise measurements of the mass of the $W$ boson are important to test the overall consistency of the Standard Model of particle physics. The current best measurements of the $W$ boson mass come from single production measurements at hadron colliders in its decay mode to a lepton (electron or muon) and a neutrino and pair production of $W$ bosons at lepton colliders, where also the decay mode of the $W$ boson to hadrons has been considered. In this study, prospects for a measurement of the $W$ boson mass in the all-jet final state at hadron colliders are presented. The feasibility of this mea…
In previous publications we have proposed that Inflation can be realized in a second minimum of the Standard Model Higgs potential at energy scales of about $10^{16}$ GeV, if the minimum is not too deep and if a mechanism which allows a transition to the radiation dominated era can be found. This is provided, {\it e.g.}, by scalar-tensor gravity models or hybrid models. Using such ideas we had predicted the Higgs boson mass to be of about $126\pm 3$ GeV, which has been confirmed by the LHC, and that a possibly measurable amount of gravity waves should be produced. Using more refined recent the…
Recent results from Higgs boson and supersymmetry searches at the Large Hadron Collider provide strong new motivations for supersymmetric theories with heavy superpartners. We reconsider focus point supersymmetry (FP SUSY), in which all squarks and sleptons may have multi-TeV masses without introducing fine-tuning in the weak scale with respect to variations in the fundamental SUSY-breaking parameters. We examine both FP SUSY and its familiar special case, the FP region of mSUGRA/CMSSM, and show that they are beautifully consistent with all particle, astroparticle, and cosmological data, inclu…
