We establish some signatures of the extra bilepton boson ${X^0}$ predicted in the ${SU (3)_C \times SU (3)_L \times U (1)_X}$ model with right-handed neutrinos. We analyze the process $p + p \longrightarrow X^0 +X^{0*} + {\hbox {anything}}$, for center of mass energy regime of the Large Hadron Collider. The main contributions for the neutral bilepton production in $q \bar q$ process come from the $s-$channel ($Z$ and $Z^\prime$ exchanges), when the initial quarks have charge 2/3, and from an additional $t-$channel (heavy quark exchange) when they have -1/3 of the positron electric charge. We calculate some distributions of the final bileptons and from these results we conclude that LHC can show a clear signature for the existence of the $X^0$ predicted in the 3-3-1 model.
We consider the contributions of the exotic quarks and gauge bosons to the mass difference between the short- and the long-lived neutral kaon states in $SU(3)_C \times SU(3)_L \times U(1)_N$ model. The lower bound $M_{Z'} \sim$ 14 TeV is obtained for the extra neutral gauge boson ${Z'}^0$. Ranges for values of one of the exotic quark masses and quark mixing parameters are also presented.
A neutral vector boson can possess static electromagnetic properties provided that the associated field is no self-conjugate. This possibility is explored in the $SU_C(3) X SU_L(3) X U_N(1)$ model with right-handed neutrinos, which predicts a complex neutral gauge boson $Y^0$ in a nontrivial representation of the electroweak group. In this model the only nonvanishing form factors are the CP-even ones, which arise from both the quark and gauge sectors, and contribute to the magnetic dipole and the electric quadrupole moments of this neutral particle.
In this paper, limits are set on bileptons masses and couplings in the context of the the 331 Model, as well as generic, non-331 Models predicting bileptons. The following measurable processes are studied: $pp \rightarrow \ell^{+}\ell^{+}\ell^{-}\ell^{-}X$, $pp \rightarrow \ell^{+}\ell^{-} ννX$ and $pp \rightarrow \ell^{+}\ell^{-} X$. Experimental limits on singly-charged bileptons masses and couplings within 331 Models are also obtained for the first time. With the results, an over 20 year-old experimental limit on vector bileptons is increased by 60\%. The computed limits are now the most st…
We calculate the decay widths and branching ratios of the extra neutral boson $Z^{\prime}$ predicted by the 331 bilepton model in the framework of two different particle contents. These calculations are performed taken into account oblique radiative corrections, and Flavor Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) under the ansatz of Matsuda as a texture for the quark mass matrices. Contributions of the order of $10^{-1}-10^{-2}$ are obtained in the branching ratios, and partial widths about one order of magnitude bigger in relation with other non- and bilepton models are also obtained. A Landau-like p…
The production of $W^+ W^-$ pair in hadron colliders was calculated up to loop corrections by some authors in the Electroweak standard model (SM) framework. This production was also calculated, at the tree level, in some extensions of the SM such as the vector singlet, the fermion mirror fermion and the vector doublet models by considering the contributions of new neutral gauge bosons and exotic fermions. The obtained results for $e^+ e^-$ and $pp$ collisions pointed out that the new physics contributions are quite important. This motivates us to calculate the production of a more massive char…
We discuss the main signatures of the Bilepton Model at the Large Hadron Collider, focusing on its gauge boson sector. The model is characterised by five additional gauge bosons, four charged and one neutral, beyond those of the Standard Model, plus three exotic quarks. The latter turn into ordinary quarks with the emission of bilepton doublets $(Y^{++},Y^{+})$ and $(Y^{--},Y^{-})$ of lepton number $L=-2$ and $L=+2$ respectively, with the doubly-charged bileptons decaying into same-sign lepton pairs. We perform a phenomenological analysis investigating processes with two doubly-charged bilepto…
In this report the SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X gauge model with minimal scalar sector, two Higgs triplets, is presented in detail. One of the vacuum expectation values $u$ is a source of lepton-number violations and a reason for mixing among charged gauge bosons--the standard model W^\pm and the bilepton gauge bosons Y^\pm as well as among the neutral non-Hermitian bilepton X^0 and neutral gauge bosons--the Z and the new Z'. An exact diagonalization of the neutral gauge boson sector is derived and bilepton mass splitting is also given. Because of these mixings, the lepton-number violating inter…
Interactions among the standard model gauge bosons and scalar fields in the framework of SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X gauge model with minimal (economical) Higgs content are presented. From these couplings, all scalar fields including the neutral scalar $h$ and the Goldstone bosons can be identified and their couplings with the usual gauge bosons such as the photon, the charged $W^\pm$ and the neutral $Z$, without any additional condition, are recovered. In the effective approximation, full content of scalar sector can be recognized. The CP-odd part of Goldstone associated with the neutral non-H…
The S, T, U parameters in the $ SU(3)_C\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)$ model with right -handed neutrinos are calculated. Explicit expressions for the oblique and Z - Z' mixing contributions are obtained. We show that the bilepton oblique contributions to S and T parameters are bounded : $- 0.085 \stackrel{<}{\sim} S \stackrel{<}{\sim} 0.05$ and $- 0.001 \stackrel{<}{\sim} T \stackrel{<}{\sim} 0.08$. The Z - Z' mixing contribution is positive and above 10%, but it will increase fastly with the higher Z' mass. %can be negative. The consequent mass splitting of the bilepton is derived and to be 15%. …
The $SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X$ gauge model with the minimal scalar sector (two Higgs triplets) is studied in detail. One of the vacuum expectation values $u$ is a source of lepton-number violations and a reason for the mixing among the charged gauge bosons - the standard model $W$ and the bilepton (with L=2) gauge bosons as well as among neutral non-Hermitian $X^0$ and neutral gauge bosons: the photon, the $Z$ and the new $Z'$. Because of these mixings, the lepton-number violating interactions exist in both charged and neutral gauge boson sectors. An exact diagonalization of the neutral gaug…
The deviation $\de Q_{\mathrm{W}}$ of the weak charge from its standard model prediction due to the mixing of the $W$ boson with the charged bilepton $Y$ as well as of the $Z$ boson with the neutral $Z'$ and the real part of the non-Hermitian neutral bilepton $X$ in the economical 3-3-1 model is established. Additional contributions to the usual $\de Q_\mathrm{W}$ expression in the extra $\mathrm{U}(1)$ models and the left-right models are obtained. Our calculations are quite different from previous analyzes in this kind of the 3-3-1 models and give the limit on mass of the $Z'$ boson, the $Z-…
The static electromagnetic properties of the $W$ boson, $Δκ$ and $ΔQ$, are calculated in the $SU_L(3)} \times U_X(1)$ model with right-handed neutrinos. The new contributions from this model arise from the gauge and scalar sectors. In the gauge sector there is a new contribution from a complex neutral gauge boson $Y^0$ and a singly-charged gauge boson $Y^\pm$. The mass of these gauge bosons, called bileptons, is expected to be in the range of a few hundreds of GeV according to the current bounds from experimental data. If the bilepton masses are of the order of 200 GeV, the size of their contr…
We study the process $e^- + e^+ \to e^+ + e^+ + e^- + e^-$ for ILC and CLIC energy regimes, in the minimal 3-3-1 model framework. The main contributions, for the production of two bileptons each one decaying into two same-sign leptons, come from s-channel annihilation ({\it via} $γ, Z$ and ${Z^\prime}$) and t-channel electron exchange. We evaluate the number of events for an extra neutral gauge boson mass $M_{Z^\prime}$ in the range 1 TeV to 3 TeV. We compare some distributions from 3-3-1 model with the Standard Model background in order to extract a possible signature of the contribution of b…
This work is devoted for gauge boson sector of the recently proposed model based on SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X group with minimal content of leptons and Higgses. The limits on the masses of the bilepton gauge bosons and on the mixing angle among the neutral ones are deduced. Using the Fritzsch anzats on quark mixing, we show that the third family of quarks should be different from the first two. We obtain a lower bound on mass of the new heavy neutral gauge boson as 6.051 TeV. Using data on branching decay rates of the $Z$ boson, we can fix the limit to the Z and Z^prime mixing angle phi as $-…
We show that the mass matrix of electrically neutral gauge bosons in the recently proposed model based on SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X group with three lepton singlets [1] has two exact eigenvalues: a zero corresponding the photon mass and the second one equaling the mass of the imaginary component A_5μ}. Hence the neutral non-Hermitian gauge boson X^0_μ( defined as \sqrt{2} X^0_μ= A'_ 4μ- i A_5μ) is properly determined. With extra vacuum expectation value of the Higgs field n_2, there are mixings among the Standard Model W boson and the extra charged gauge boson Y carrying lepton number 2 (bile…
The neutral pion electroproduction on the proton is considered in the framework phenomenological model based on the PCAC, current algebra with hard pions and chiral symmetry breaking interaction. The s- wave differential cross-section of the electroproduction of neutral pions off protons near the threshold is predicted as function photon momentum transfer squared $k^2$ . The s- wave multipoles $ReE_{0+}$ and $ReL_{0+}$ as function of the energy of the $π^0p$- system are given for the small $k^2$ and $% k^2=0.1(GeV/c)^2$. The results are compered with the experiment. It is shown the significant…
In this paper we investigated the Drell-Yan process of the light neutralino pair $\tildeχ^0_{i}\tildeχ^0_{j}~(i,j=1,2)$ productions at hadron colliders. We studied the dependence of the coupling properties of two light neutralino $\tildeχ^0_{1,2}$ on the three SUSY Lagrangian parameters $M_1$, $M_2$ and $μ$, and find that the production rate of $\tildeχ^0_1 \tildeχ^0_2$ pair will be dominated by the Higgsino-like couplings under the condition $μ\ll M_2$ and $μ\sim M_1$, while the productions of $\tildeχ^0_1\tildeχ^0_1$ and $\tildeχ^0_2\tildeχ^0_2$ pairs will be enhanced by the gaugino-like cou…
We analysed the binomial multiplicity moments of the neutral pions, using an extension of the generating functional technique for detection losses. We applied this model-independent method to the individual gamma-weights of 10000 events of pi^{-}-proton interactions at 40 GeV/c. We compared the obtained results to those of 250 GeV/c. We used the FRITIOF and a shifted KW distribution to describe the data.
Taking into account the exchange forces between protons of scalar, pseudoscalar, vector and axial vector type the cross sections of neutral and charged scalar mesons $a_0(980)$, $a_+(980)$, $f_0(980)$, $σ(600)$ production are calculated. The estimation for the facilities of moderately high energies such as PANDA and NICA are presented. Similar analysis is given for processes of charged and neutral Higgs boson production at high energy proton-proton colliders such as Tevatron, RHIC and LHC. The possible signal of neutral Higgs boson decay into two oppositely charged leptons of different kinds i…
We study the neutral pion photoproduction at near-threshold energies in fully covariant chiral perturbation theory up to O(p^3). When including only nucleonic virtual states in the model, the convergence is too slow. Therefore we test the model when introducing the Delta(1232) resonance as an additional degree of freedom. Some low-energy constants were fitted, converging to values in good agreement with those expected from literature.
The neutral pion photoproduction on the proton near threshold has a very small scattering cross section when compared to the charged channels, which in ChPT is explained by strong cancellations between the lowest order pieces. Therefore it is very sensitive to higher-order corrections of chiral perturbation theory. We perform a fully covariant calculation up to chiral order p^3 and we investigate the effect of the inclusion of the Delta(1232) resonance as an explicit degree of freedom. We show that the convergence improves, leading to a much better agreement with data at a wide range of energi…
Antiproton--proton annihilation into light neutral mesons in the few GeV energy domain is investigated in view of a global description of the existing data and predictions for future experiments at PANDA, FAIR. An effective meson model earlier developed, with mesonic and baryonic degrees of freedom in $s$, $t$, and $u$ channels, is applied here to $π^0π^0$ production. Form factors with logarithmic $s$ and $t(u)$ dependencies are applied. A fair agreement with the existing angular distributions is obtained. Applying SU(3) symmetry, it is straightforward to recover the angular distributions for …
We discuss neutral Higgs boson production through gluon fusion and bottom-quark annihilation in the CP-conserving $\mathbb{Z}_3$-invariant Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM) at proton colliders. For gluon fusion we adapt known asymptotic expansions in supersymmetric particles for the inclusion of next-to-leading order contributions of squarks and gluinos from the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) and include electro-weak corrections involving light quarks. Together with the resummation of higher order sbottom contributions in the bottom-quark Yukawa coupling for b…
The recent experimental data of the weak charges of Cesium and proton is analyzed in the framework of the models based on the $\mbox{SU}(3)_C\times \mbox{SU}(3)_L \times \mbox{U}(1)_X$ (3-3-1) gauge group, including the 3-3-1 model with CKS mechanism (3-3-1CKS) and the general 3-3-1 models with arbitrary $β$ (3-3-1$β$) with three Higgs triplets. We will show that at the TeV scale, the mixing among neutral gauge bosons plays significant effect. Within the present values of the weak charges of Cesium and proton we get the lowest mass bound of the extra heavy neutral gauge boson to be 1.27 TeV. T…
We discuss how the mass of new physics particles involved in a pair of short decay chains leading to two invisible particles, for example slepton pair production, followed by the decay into two leptons and two neutralinos, may be measured in central exclusive production (CEP) with forward proton tagging. We show how the existing mass measurement strategies in CEP may be improved by making full use of the mass-shell constraints, and demonstrate that, with around 30 signal events, the masses of the slepton and neutralino can be measured with an accuracy of a few GeV.
The production of a neutralino pair via gluon-gluon fusion is studied in the minimal supersymmetric model(MSSM) at proton-proton colliders. The numerical analysis of their production rates are carried out in the mSUGRA scenario. The results show that this cross section may reach about 80 femto barn for $\tildeχ^{0}_{1}\tildeχ^{0}_{2}$ pair production and 23 femto barn for $\tildeχ^{0}_{2}\tildeχ^{0}_{2}$ pair production with suitable input parameters at the future LHC collider. It shows that this loop mediated process can be competitive with the quark-antiquark annihilation process at the LHC.
Fluctuations in the muon content of extensive air showers are anticorrelated to the fluctuations of the energy taken by the neutral pions which emerge from the first interaction of the cosmic ray in the atmosphere. We show that the high-energy tail of the neutral pion spectrum produced in the first proton-air interaction can be constrained, within the uncertainties of present cosmic ray experiments, through the analysis of the shower-to-shower distribution of the muon content of the air showers, $P(N_μ)$.
We investigate the prospects for discovering charginos and neutralinos at a future $pp$ collider with $\sqrt{s} = 100$ TeV. We focus on models where squarks and sleptons are decoupled -- as motivated by the LHC data. Our initial study is based on models where Higgsinos form the main component of the LSP and $W$-inos compose the heavier chargino states ($M_2 > μ$), though it is straightforward to consider the reverse situation also. We show that in such scenarios $W$-inos decay into $W^\pm$, $Z$ and $h$ plus neutralinos almost universally. In the $W Z$ channel we compare signal and background i…
We show that coherent $η$ and $\etap$ photoproduction by means of the Primakoff Effect on the proton depends on the strange component of the neutral axial current coupling. We construct polarization asymmetries that are sensitive to this coupling through the $γ- Z$ interference. The $η^\prime$ is not a Goldstone boson of a spontaneously broken chiral symmetry, but a phenomenological analysis of the $η$ and $η^\prime$ production through chiral perturbation theory allows to calculate the observables of interest. The polarized proton or polarized photon asymmetries are predicted to be close to $1…
This analysis shows a search for dark fermion particles produced in association with a heavy neutral gauge boson (Z$^{\prime}$). The studied events topology are dimuon and a large missing transverse momentum. %We considered the muonic decay of Z$^{\prime}$. The analyzed data were the Open Data collected by the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at the LHC in 2012 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 11.6 fb$^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s} = $ 8 TeV. One benchmark scenario the light vector was used for interpreting the data, based on a simplified model so called the mono-Z$^{\prime}$ model. …
We apply the leading and sub-leading electroweak (EW) corrections to the Drell-Yan process of the neutralino pair production at proton-proton collision, in order to calculate the effects of the these corrections on the neutralino pair production at the LHC. We provide an analysis of the dependence of the Born cross-sections for $pp\rightarrow\widetildeχ_{i}^{0}\widetildeχ_{j}^{0}$ and the EW corrections to this process, on the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt s$, on the $M_2$-$μ$ mass plane and on the squark mass for the three different scenarios. The numerical results show that the relative corre…
We present a study of inclusive direct-photon and neutral pion production in hadronic interactions that focuses on a comparison of the ratio of photon and pion yields with expectations from next-to-leading order perturbative QCD (NLO pQCD).
We apply the nuclear model with explicit mesons to photoproduction of neutral pions off protons at the threshold. In this model the nucleons do not interact with each other via a potential but rather emit and absorb mesons that are treated explicitly on equal footing with the nucleons. We calculate the total cross section of the reaction for energies close to threshold and compare the calculations with available experimental data. We show that the model is able to reproduce the experimental data and determine the range of the parameters where the model is compatible with the experiment.
We investigate the production of Higgs particles in association with the supersymmetric scalar partners of the top quark at proton colliders. In the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model, the cross sections for the production of the lightest neutral Higgs boson in association with top squark pairs can be rather large, substantially exceeding the rate for the associated Higgs boson production with top quarks. If the lightest top squark is not much heavier than the top quark, this process will enhance the potential of the CERN Large Hadron Collider to discover the lightest neutr…
We investigate near threshold neutral pion photoproduction off protons to fourth order in heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory in the light of the new data from MAMI. We show that the unitarity cusp at the secondary π^+ n threshold is in agreement with expectations from the final state theorem. We also analyze the fourth order corrections to the P-wave low-energy theorems and show that potentially large Delta-isobar contributions are cancelled by sizeable pion loop effects. This solidifies the parameter free third order predictions, which are in excellent agreement with the data.
The effects of isospin violation on the neutral weak magnetic form factor of the proton are studied using two-flavour chiral perturbation theory. The first nonzero contributions appear at O(p^4) in the small-momentum expansion, and the O(p^5) corrections are also calculated. The leading contributions from an explicit Delta(1232) isomultiplet are included as well. At such a high order in the chiral expansion, one might have expected a large number of unknown parameters to contribute. However, it is found that no unknown parameters can appear within loop diagrams, and a single tree-level counter…
In order to fix the parameters for predictions of hard photon and pion production in $Au+Au$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV, proton-proton and proton-nucleus data are analyzed in perturbative QCD in the energy range $\sqrt{s} \approx 20-60$ GeV and a prediction at RHIC energy is given.
We determine the nucleon neutral weak electromagnetic form factors $G^{Z,p(n)}_{E,M}$ by combining results from light-front holographic QCD and lattice QCD calculations. We deduce nucleon electromagnetic form factors from light-front holographic QCD which provides a good parametrization of the experimental data of the nucleon electromagnetic form factors in the entire momentum transfer range and isolate the strange quark electromagnetic form factors $G^{s}_{E,M}$ using lattice QCD. From these calculations, we obtain precise estimates of the neutral weak form factors in the momentum transfer ra…
The interaction of ultra-high energy cosmic rays with the atmosphere nuclei has long been seen as a unique opportunity to study hadronic interactions above energies attainable by accelerators. However, so far the multiparticle production properties of the first interaction have been difficult to assess as they are masked by the many interactions that outline the shower development. In this work, we demonstrate, that relevant properties of the ultra-high energy first interaction can be accessed through the analysis of the shower-to-shower distribution of muons arriving at the ground. In particu…
Recent results show that atmospheric $ν_μ$ oscillate with $δm^2 \simeq 3 \times 10^{-3}$ eV$^2$ and $\sin^2{2θ_{atm}} \simeq 1$, and that conversion into $ν_e$ is strongly disfavored. The Super-Kamiokande (SK) collaboration, using a combination of three techniques, reports that their data favor $ν_μ\to ν_τ$ over $ν_μ\to ν_{sterile}$. This distinction is extremely important for both four-neutrino models and cosmology. We propose that neutrino-proton elastic scattering ($ν+ p \to ν+ p$) in water Čerenkov detectors can also distinguish between active and sterile oscillations. This was not previou…
The spin structure of the proton has revealed itself to be extremely complex and is an area of ongoing research. The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) inaugurated its operation as the first polarized-proton collider during the 2001-2002 run, marking the beginning of a new era in the study of proton spin structure. From the data collected in this run, the PHENIX experiment measured the transverse single-spin asymmetry (A_N) for neutral pion production at x_F~0.0 over a transverse momentum range of 1 to 5 GeV/c from polarized proton-proton interaction…
Based on the Thomas-Fermi approach, we describe and distinguish the electron distributions around extended nuclear cores: (i) in the case that cores are neutral for electrons bound by protons inside cores and proton and electron numbers are the same; (ii) in the case that super charged cores are bare, electrons (positrons) produced by vacuum polarization are bound by (fly into) cores (infinity).
The study of the neutral current elastic scattering of neutrinos on protons at lower energies can be used as a compelling probe to improve our knowledge of the strangeness of the proton. We consider a neutrino beam generated from pion decay at rest, as provided by a cyclotron or a spallation neutron source and a 1 kton scintillating detector with a potential similar to the Borexino detector. Despite several backgrounds from solar and radioactive sources it is possible to estimate two optimal energy windows for the analysis, one between 0.65-1.1 MeV and another between 1.73-2.2 MeV. The expecte…
Photoproduction of neutral pions has been studied with the CBELSA/TAPS detector in the reaction $γp\to pπ^0$ for photon energies between 0.85 and 2.50 GeV. The $π^0$ mesons are observed in their dominant neutral decay mode: $π^0\toγγ$. For the first time, the differential cross sections cover the very forward region, $θ_{\rm c.m.}<60^\circ$. A partial-wave analysis of these data within the Bonn-Gatchina framework observes the high-mass resonances $G_{17}$(2190), $D_{13}$(2080), and $D_{15}$(2070).
We discuss hadron production in the forward rapidity region in ultraperipheral proton-lead collisions at the LHC and proton-gold collisions at RHIC. Our discussion is based on the Monte Carlo simulations of the interactions of virtual photons emitted by a fast moving nucleus with a proton beam. We simulate the virtual photon flux with the STARLIGHT event generator and then particle production with the SOPHIA, DPMJET, and PYTHIA event generators. We show the rapidity distributions of charged and neutral particles, and the momentum distributions of neutral pions and neutrons at forward rapiditie…
