We present and explore the resolved atomic hydrogen (HI) content of 13 HI-rich and late-type dominated groups denoted `Choirs'. We quantify the HI content of the Choir galaxies with respect to the median of the HI-mass fraction ($f_{\textrm{HI}}$) of their grandparent HIPASS sample. We find that the HI mass fraction of the Choir galaxies is dispersed around the HIPASS median in the range $-1.4 \leq Δf_{\textrm{HI}}\textrm{[dex]}\leq 0.7$, from HI-excess to HI-deficient galaxy regime. The HI-excess/HI-deficient galaxies contain more/less than 2.5 times their expected HI content with respect to the HIPASS median. We show and discuss that the environmental processing in Choirs occurs via tidal stripping and galaxy mergers. Our analysis suggests that tidal stripping contributes to the loss of the HI, while galaxy mergers contribute to the enhancement of the HI. Exploring the mid-infrared properties of Choir galaxies we find possible environmental processing in only nine Choir galaxies, which indicates that environmental processing is more perceptible in the HI content than the mid-infrared properties. Moreover, we find that environmental processing occurs in Choir groups regardless of their global environment, whether they are in isolation or in proximity to the denser structures, such as cosmic web filaments. We explore possible scenarios of the Choirs evolution, taking into account their HI content, velocity dispersion, crossing time and their global environment. We conclude that the most likely evolution for the majority of Choir groups is that they will become more compact as their members undergo multiple HI-rich mergers.
Using a sample of 70,793 early-type galaxies from SDSS DR7, we study the environmental dependence of the fundamental plane relation. With the help of the galaxy group catalogue based on SDSS DR7, we calculate the fundamental planes in different dark matter halo mass bins for central and satellite galaxies respectively. We find the environmental dependence of the fundamental plane coefficients are similar in $g$, $r$, $i$ and $z$ bands. The environmental dependence for central and satellite galaxies is significantly different. While the fundamental plane coefficients of centrals vary systematic…
We investigate the environmental dependence of the stellar populations of galaxies in SDSS DR7. Echoing earlier works, we find that satellites are both more metal-rich (<0.1 dex) and older (<2 Gyr) than centrals of the same stellar mass. However, after separating star-forming, green valley and passive galaxies, we find that the true environmental dependence of both stellar metallicity (<0.03 dex) and age (<0.5 Gyr) is in fact much weaker. We show that the strong environmental effects found when galaxies are not differentiated result from a combination of selection effects brought about by the …
Under the $Λ$ cold dark matter ($Λ$CDM) cosmological models, massive galaxies are expected to be larger in denser environments through frequent hierarchical mergers with other galaxies. Yet, observational studies of low-redshift early-type galaxies have shown no such trend, standing as a puzzle to solve during the past decade. We analyzed 73,116 early-type galaxies at $0.1\leq z < 0.15$, adopting a robust nonparametric size measurement technique and extending the analysis to many massive galaxies. We find for the first time that local early-type galaxies heavier than $10^{11.2}M_{\odot}$ show …
One of the challenges in understanding the quenching processes for galaxies is connecting progenitor star-forming populations to their descendant quiescent populations over cosmic time. Here we attempt a novel approach to this challenge by assuming that the underlying stellar mass distribution of galaxies is not significantly altered during environmental quenching processes that solely affect the gas content of cluster galaxies, such as strangulation and ram-pressure stripping. Using the deep, high-resolution photometry of the Hubble Frontier Fields, we create resolved stellar mass maps for bo…

By combining H$α$ flux measurements from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) with UV flux observations from the Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX), we examine the environmental dependence (through central/satellite distinction) of the rapid quenching and rejuvenation of galaxies. H$α$ emissions trace the most massive stars, thereby indicating star-formation on timescales of $\sim 10$ Myr, while UV emission traces star-formation on timescales of $\sim 100$ Myr. These varying timescales are exploited to probe the most recent star-formation histories of galaxies. In this work, we define a class of…
We discuss the environment of local hard X-ray selected active galaxies, with reference to two independent group catalogues. We find that the fraction of these AGN in S0 host galaxies decreases strongly as a function of galaxy group size (halo mass) - which contrasts with the increasing fraction of galaxies of S0 type in denser environments. However, there is no evidence for an environmental dependence of AGN in spiral galaxies. Because most AGN are found in spiral galaxies, this dilutes the signature of environmental dependence for the population as a whole. We argue that the differing result…
We measure the environmental dependence, where environment is defined by the distance to the third nearest neighbor, of multiple galaxy properties inside the Environmental COntext (ECO) catalog. We focus primarily on void galaxies, which we define as the $10 \%$ of galaxies having the lowest local density. We compare the properties of void and non-void galaxies: baryonic mass, color, fractional stellar mass growth rate (FSMGR), morphology, and gas-to-stellar-mass ratio (estimated from a combination of HI data and photometric gas fractions calibrated with the RESOLVE survey). Our void galaxies …
Galaxies that have fallen into massive haloes may no longer be able to accrete gas from their surroundings, a process referred to as 'starvation' or 'strangulation' of satellites. We study the environmental dependence of gas accretion onto galaxies using the cosmological, hydrodynamical EAGLE simulation. We quantify the dependence of gas accretion on stellar mass, redshift, and environment, using halo mass and galaxy overdensity as environmental indicators. We find a strong suppression, by many orders of magnitude, of the gas accretion rate in dense environments, primarily for satellite galaxi…
A model is proposed for the formation of gas-rich dwarf irregular galaxies and gas-poor, rotating dwarf elliptical galaxies following the interaction between two giant galaxies as a function of space density. The formation of dwarf galaxies is considered to depend on a random variable, the tidal index theta, an environmental parameter defined by Karachentsev et al. (2004), such that for theta less than zero, the formation of dwarf irregular galaxy is assured whereas for theta greater than zero, the formation of dwarf ellipticals is preferred. It is found that for particular ranges of the inter…
We present infrared views of the environmental effects on the dust properties in star-forming (SF) galaxies at z ~ 0, using the AKARI Far-Infrared Surveyor (FIS) all-sky map and the large spectroscopic galaxy sample from Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 7 (DR7). We restrict the sample to those within the redshift range of 0.05 < z < 0.07 and the stellar mass range of 9.2 < log_10 (M_star/M_solar). We select SF galaxies based on their H_alpha equivalent width (EW_Ha> 4 A) and emission line flux ratios. We perform far-infrared (FIR) stacking analyses by splitting the SDSS SF galaxy s…
We present the results from ALMA CO(3-2) observations of 66 Halpha-selected galaxies in three protoclusters around radio galaxies, PKS1138-262 (z=2.16) and USS1558-003 (z=2.53), and 4C23.56 (z=2.49). The pointing areas have an overdensity of ~100 compared to a mean surface number density of galaxies in field environments. We detect CO emission line in 16 star-forming galaxies, including previously published six galaxies, to measure the molecular gas mass. In the stellar mass range of 10.5<log(Mstar/Msolar)<11.0, the protocluster galaxies have larger gas mass fractions and longer gas depletion …
We explore the dependence of UV upturn colours in early type cluster galaxies on the properties of their parent clusters (such as velocity dispersion and X-ray luminosity) and on the positions and kinematics of galaxies within them. We use a sample of 24 nearby clusters with highly complete spectroscopy and optical/infrared data to select a suitable sample of red sequence galaxies, whose FUV and NUV magnitudes we measure from archival GALEX data. Our results show that the UV upturn colour has no dependence on cluster properties and has the same range in all clusters. There is also no dependenc…
We measure the rate of environmentally-driven star formation quenching in galaxies at $z\sim 1$, using eleven massive ($M\approx 2\times10^{14}\,\mathrm{M}_\odot$) galaxy clusters spanning a redshift range $1.0<z<1.4$ from the GOGREEN sample. We identify three different types of transition galaxies: "green valley" (GV) galaxies identified from their rest-frame $(NUV-V)$ and $(V-J)$ colours; "blue quiescent" (BQ) galaxies, found at the blue end of the quiescent sequence in $(U-V)$ and $(V-J)$ colour; and spectroscopic post-starburst (PSB) galaxies. We measure the abundance of these galaxies as …
We investigate environmental effects on galaxy spin using the recent public data of MaNGA integral field spectroscopic survey containing ~2800 galaxies. We measure the spin parameter of 1830 galaxies through the analysis of two-dimensional stellar kinematic maps within the effective radii, and obtain their large- (background mass density from 20 nearby galaxies) and small-scale (distance to and morphology of the nearest neighbour galaxy) environmental parameters for 1529 and 1767 galaxies, respectively. We first examine the mass dependence of galaxy spin, and find that the spin parameter of ea…
The environment within dark matter haloes can quench the star formation of galaxies. However, environmental effects beyond the virial radius of haloes ($\gtrsim$ 1 Mpc) are less evident. An example is the debated correlation between colour or star formation in central galaxies and neighbour galaxies in adjacent haloes at large separations of several Mpc, referred to as two-halo galactic conformity. We use two galaxy catalogues generated from different versions of the semi-analytic model SAG applied to the MDPL2 cosmological simulation and the IllustrisTNG300 cosmological hydrodynamical simulat…
We present a study of the star formation and AGN activity for galaxies in the Abell 901/2 multi-cluster system at z~0.167 as part of the OMEGA survey. Using Tuneable Filter data obtained with the OSIRIS instrument at the GTC we produce spectra covering the Halpha and [N II] spectral lines for more than 400 galaxies. Using optical emission-line diagnostics, we identify a significant number of galaxies hosting AGN, which tend to have high masses and a broad range of morphologies. Moreover, within the environmental densities probed by our study, we find no environmental dependence on the fraction…
We report evidence of environmental quenching among galaxies at redshift ~ 2, namely the probability that a galaxy quenches its star formation activity is enhanced in the regions of space in proximity of other quenched, more massive galaxies. The effect is observed as strong clustering of quiescent galaxies around quiescent galaxies on angular scales θ< 20 arcsec, corresponding to a proper(comoving) scale of 168 (502) kpc at z = 2. The effect is observed only for quiescent galaxies around other quiescent galaxies; the probability to find star-forming galaxies around quiescent or around star-fo…
We present new analysis from the GEEC2 spectroscopic survey of galaxy groups at $0.8<z<1$. Our previous work revealed an intermediate population between the star-forming and quiescent sequences and a strong environmental dependence in the fraction of quiescent galaxies. Only $\sim5$ per cent of star-forming galaxies in both the group and field sample show a significant enhancement in star formation, which suggests that quenching is the primary process in the transition from the star-forming to the quiescent state. To model the environmental quenching scenario, we have tested the use of differe…
We present an analysis of the radial profiles of a sample of 43 HI-flux selected spiral galaxies from the Nearby Galaxies Legacy Survey (NGLS) with resolved James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) CO $J=3-2$ and/or Very Large Array (VLA) HI maps. Comparing the Virgo and non-Virgo populations, we confirm that the HI disks are truncated in the Virgo sample, even for these relatively HI-rich galaxies. On the other hand, the H$_{2}$ distribution is enhanced for Virgo galaxies near their centres, resulting in higher H$_{2}$ to HI ratios and steeper H$_{2}$ and total gas radial profiles. This is likely…
We use a sample of ~3000 galaxies from the MaNGA MPL-7 internal data release to study the alpha abundance distribution within low-redshift galaxies. We use the Lick index ratio Mgb/<Fe> as an alpha abundance indicator to study relationships between the alpha abundance distribution and galaxy properties such as effective stellar velocity dispersion within 0.3 effective radii (sigma_*), galaxy environment, and dark matter halo formation time (z_f). We find that (1) all galaxies show a tight correlation between Mgb/<Fe> and sigma_*; (2) `old' (H_beta < 3) low-sigma_* galaxies in high local densit…
The current properties of globular cluster systems (GCSs) are the result of the evolution experienced by their host galaxies, which shape the richness of the GCS as well as its spatial distribution, among other features. We carry out an analysis of the projected radial distribution of globular clusters for a sample of almost 30 early-type galaxies (ETGs) of intermediate and low luminosity, located in cluster environments (Virgo, Fornax and Coma). We also include in the study six ETGs, for which the parameters of their GCS radial profiles are publicly available. The final analysis is performed …
We examine how the cosmic environment affects the chemical evolution of galaxies in the Universe by comparing the N/O ratio of dwarf galaxies in voids with dwarf galaxies in more dense regions. Ratios of the forbidden [O III] and [S II] transitions provide estimates of a region's electron temperature and number density. We estimate the abundances of oxygen and nitrogen using these temperature and density estimates and the emission line fluxes [O II] 3727, [O III] 4959, 5007, and [N II] 6548, 6584 with the direct Te method. Using spectroscopic observations from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data…

We investigate the environmental quenching of galaxies, especially those with stellar masses (M*)$<10^{9.5} M_\odot$, beyond the local universe. Essentially all local low-mass quenched galaxies (QGs) are believed to live close to massive central galaxies, which is a demonstration of environmental quenching. We use CANDELS data to test {\it whether or not} such a dwarf QG--massive central galaxy connection exists beyond the local universe. To this purpose, we only need a statistically representative, rather than a complete, sample of low-mass galaxies, which enables our study to $z\gtrsim1.5$. …
We examine the influence of the environment on the chemical abundances of late-type galaxies with masses of 10^9.1 M_sun - 10^11 M_sun using data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey(SDSS). We find that the environmental influence on galactic chemical abundances is strongest for galaxies with masses of 10^9.1 M_sun to 10^9.6 Msun. The galaxies in the densest environments may exceed the average oxygen abundances by about 0.05 dex (the median value of the overabundances for 101 galaxies in the densest environments) and show higher abundances in nitrogen by about 0.1. The abundance excess decreases …
We study how the cosmic environment affects galaxy evolution in the Universe by comparing the metallicities of dwarf galaxies in voids with dwarf galaxies in more dense regions. Ratios of the fluxes of emission lines, particularly those of the forbidden [O III] and [S II] transitions, provide estimates of a region's electron temperature and number density. From these two quantities and the emission line fluxes [O II] 3727, [O III] 4363, and [O III] 4959,5007, we estimate the abundance of oxygen with the Direct Te method. We estimate the metallicity of 42 blue, star-forming void dwarf galaxies …
As demonstrated in Paper I, the quenching properties of central and satellite galaxies are quite similar as long as both stellar mass and halo mass are controlled. Here we extend the analysis to the size and bulge-to-total light ratio (B/T) of galaxies. In general central galaxies have size-stellar mass and B/T-stellar mass relations different from satellites. However, the differences are eliminated when halo mass is controlled. We also study the dependence of size and B/T on halo-centric distance and find a transitional stellar mass (M$_{*,t}$) at given halo mass (M$_h$), which is about one f…
We present ALMA Band 6 (nu=233GHz, lambda=1.3mm) continuum observations towards 68 'normal' star-forming galaxies within two Coma-like progenitor structures at z=2.10 and 2.47, from which ISM masses are derived, providing the largest census of molecular gas mass in overdense environments at these redshifts. Our sample comprises galaxies with a stellar mass range of 1x10^9M_sun - 4x10^11M_sun with a mean M_*~6x10^10M_sun. Combining these measurements with multiwavelength observations and SED modeling, we characterize the gas mass fraction and the star formation efficiency, and infer the impact …
We use archival Herschel data to examine the singly ionized carbon ([CII]) content of 14 star forming dwarf galaxies in the Virgo cluster. We use spectral energy distribution (SED) fits to far infrared, mid infrared, near infrared, optical and ultraviolet data to derive the total infrared continuum (TIR) for these galaxies. We compare the [CII]/TIR ratio for dwarf galaxies in the central part of Virgo to those in the southern part of the cluster and to galaxies with similar TIR luminosities and metallicities in the Herschel Dwarf Galaxy Survey (DGS) sample of field dwarf galaxies to look for s…
We present new ALMA dust continuum observations of 101 $\log(\mathrm{M}_* / \mathrm{M}_\odot)$ > 9.5 galaxies in the COSMOS field to study the effect of environment on the interstellar medium at z ~ 0.7. At this redshift, our targets span a wide range of environments allowing for a diverse sample of galaxies with densities, $Σ$ = 0.16-10.5 Mpc$^{-2}$ (per $Δ$ z = 0.024). Using the ALMA observations, we calculate the total ISM mass and look for depletion as a function of galaxy density in order to understand the quenching or triggering of star formation in galaxies in different environments. IS…
We present a study of the molecular gas properties in a sample of 98 HI - flux selected spiral galaxies within $\sim25$ Mpc, using the CO $J=3-2$ line observed with the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope. We use the technique of survival analysis to incorporate galaxies with CO upper limits into our results. Comparing the group and Virgo samples, we find a larger mean H$_{2}$ mass in the Virgo galaxies, despite their lower mean HI mass. This leads to a significantly higher H$_{2}$ to HI ratio for Virgo galaxies. Combining our data with complementary H$α$ star formation rate measurements, Virgo gala…
We study the star formation histories (SFHs) and mass-weighted ages of 331 UVJ-selected quiescent galaxies in 11 galaxy clusters and in the field at 1<z<1.5 from the Gemini Observations of Galaxies in Rich Early ENvironments (GOGREEN) survey. We determine the SFHs of individual galaxies by simultaneously fitting rest-frame optical spectroscopy and broadband photometry to stellar population models. We confirm that the SFHs are consistent with more massive galaxies having on average earlier formation times. Comparing galaxies found in massive clusters with those in the field, we find galaxies wi…
The internal distribution of heavy elements, in particular the radial metallicity gradient, offers insight into the merging history of galaxies. Using our cosmological, chemodynamical simulations that include both detailed chemical enrichment and feedback from active galactic nuclei (AGN), we find that stellar metallicity gradients in the most massive galaxies ($\sim3\times10^{10}$M$_\odot$) are made flatter by mergers and are unable to regenerate due to the quenching of star formation by AGN feedback. The fitting range is chosen on a galaxy-by-galaxy basis in order to mask satellite galaxies.…
In the local Universe, there is a strong division in the star-forming properties of low-mass galaxies, with star formation largely ubiquitous amongst the field population while satellite systems are predominantly quenched. This dichotomy implies that environmental processes play the dominant role in suppressing star formation within this low-mass regime (${M}_{\star} \sim 10^{5.5-8}~{\rm M}_{\odot}$). As shown by observations of the Local Volume, however, there is a non-negligible population of passive systems in the field, which challenges our understanding of quenching at low masses. By appl…
Using ~5000 spectroscopically-confirmed galaxies drawn from the Observations of Redshift Evolution in Large Scale Environments (ORELSE) survey we investigate the relationship between color and galaxy density for galaxy populations of various stellar masses in the redshift range $0.55 \le z \le 1.4$. The fraction of galaxies with colors consistent with no ongoing star formation ($f_q$) is broadly observed to increase with increasing stellar mass, increasing galaxy density, and decreasing redshift, with clear differences observed in $f_q$ between field and group/cluster galaxies at the highest r…
In this second of a series of papers on spatially resolved star formation, we investigate the impact of the density-morphology relation of galaxies on the spatial variation of star formation (SF) and its dependence on environment. We find that while a density-morphology relation is present for the sample, it cannot solely explain the observed suppression of SF in galaxies in high-density environments. We also find that early-type and late-type galaxies exhibit distinct radial star formation rate (SFR) distributions, with early-types having a SFR distribution that extends further relative to th…
We study the environmental dependence of the strength of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission by AKARI observations of RX J0152.7-1357, a galaxy cluster at z=0.84. PAH emission reflects the physical conditions of galaxies and dominates 8 um luminosity (L8), which can directly be measured with the L15 band of AKARI. L8 to infrared luminosity (LIR) ratio is used as a tracer of the PAH strength. Both photometric and spectroscopic redshifts are applied to identify the cluster members. The L15-band-detected galaxies tend to reside in the outskirt of the cluster and have optically green co…

We present a study on the stellar age and metallicity distributions for 1105 galaxies using the STARLIGHT software on MaNGA integral field spectra. We derive age and metallicity gradients by fitting straight lines to the radial profiles, and explore their correlations with total stellar mass M*, NUV-r colour and environments, as identified by both the large scale structure (LSS) type and the local density. We find that the mean age and metallicity gradients are close to zero but slightly negative, which is consistent with the inside-out formation scenario. Within our sample, we find that both …
Environment is one of the primary drivers of galaxy evolution; via multiple mechanisms, it can control the critical process of transforming galaxies from star forming to quiescent, commonly termed "quenching". Despite its importance, however, we still do not have a clear view of how environmentally-driven quenching proceeds even in the most extreme environments: galaxy clusters and their progenitor proto-clusters. Recent advances in infrared capabilities have enabled transformative progress not only in the identification of these structures but in detailed analyses of quiescence, obscured star…
We study the physical properties of a spectroscopic sample of 28 star-forming galaxies in a large filamentary structure in the COSMOS field at $z\sim$0.53, with spectroscopic data taken with the Keck/DEIMOS spectrograph, and compare them with a control sample of 30 field galaxies. We spectroscopically confirm the presence of a large galaxy filament ($\sim$ 8 Mpc), along which five confirmed X-ray groups exist. We show that within the uncertainties, the ionization parameter, equivalent width (EW), EW versus specific star-formation rate (sSFR) relation, EW versus stellar mass relation, line-of-s…
We use the EAGLE suite of cosmological hydrodynamical simulations to study how the HI content of present-day galaxies depends on their environment. We show that EAGLE reproduces observed HI mass-environment trends very well, while semi-analytic models typically overpredict the average HI masses in dense environments. The environmental processes act primarily as an on/off switch for the HI content of satellites with stellar mass Mstar>10^9 Msun. At a fixed Mstar, the fraction of HI-depleted satellites increases with increasing host halo mass M200 in response to stronger environmental effects, w…
Most dynamical models of galaxies to date assume axisymmetry, which is not representative of a significant fraction of massive galaxies. We have built triaxial orbit-superposition Schwarzschild models of galaxies observed by the SAMI Galaxy Survey, in order to reconstruct their inner orbital structure and mass distribution. The sample consists of 153 passive galaxies with total stellar masses in the range $10^{9.5}$ to $10^{12} M_{\odot}$. We present an analysis of the internal structures and intrinsic properties of these galaxies as a function of their environment. We measure their environmen…
We investigate the relationship between the optical variability of galaxies and their distances from the centre of the Virgo Cluster using Palomar Transient Factory data. We define the ratio between the standard deviation of the galaxy brightness and the mean value of the standard deviation as a measure of a galaxy's optical variability. A sample of 814 Virgo galaxies with 230263 observations shows a monotonically decreasing trend of optical variability with increasing clustercentric distance. The variability level inside the cluster is 3.2$σ$ higher than the level outside. We fit the variabil…
In a protocluster USS1558-003 at z=2.53, galaxies in the dense cores show systematically elevated star-forming activities than those in less dense regions. To understand its origin, we look into the gas properties of the galaxies in the dense cores by conducting deep 1.1mm observations with Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). We detect interstellar dust continuum emissions from 12 member galaxies and estimate their molecular gas masses. Comparing these gas masses with our previous measurements from CO(3-2) line, we infer that the latter might be overestimated. We find that the…
It is by now well established that galaxy evolution is driven by intrinsic and environmental processes, both contributing to shape the observed properties of galaxies. A number of early studies, both observational and theoretical, have shown that the star formation activity of galaxies depends on their environmental local density and also on galaxy hierarchy, i.e. centrals vs. satellites. In fact, contrary to their central (most massive) galaxy of a group/cluster, satellite galaxies are stripped of their gas and stars, and have their star formation quenched by their environment. Large galaxy s…
We present a study of the relationships and environmental dependencies between stellar mass, star formation rate, and gas metallicity for more than 700 galaxies in groups up to redshift 0.35 from the Galaxy And Mass Assembly (GAMA) survey. To identify the main drivers, our sample was analyzed as a function of group-centric distance, projected galaxy number density, and stellar mass. By using control samples of more than 16000 star-forming field galaxies and volume limited samples, we find that the highest enhancement in SFR (0.3 dex) occurs in galaxies with the lowest local density. In contras…
It is suspected that the ultraviolet (UV) upturn phenomenon in elliptical galaxies and extended horizontal-branch stars in globular clusters have a common origin. An extremely high abundance of helium (Y~0.4) allows for a working hypothesis, but its origin is unclear. Peng & Nagai (2009) proposed that primordial helium sedimentation in dark haloes over cosmic timescales may lead to extreme helium abundances in galaxy cluster centers. In this scenario UV upturn should be restricted to brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs) only. This is a clear and testable prediction. We present tests of this hypot…
The star formation and gas content of satellite galaxies around the Milky Way (MW) and Andromeda (M31) are depleted relative to more isolated galaxies in the Local Group (LG) at fixed stellar mass. We explore the environmental regulation of gas content and quenching of star formation in $z=0$ galaxies at $M*=10^{5-10}\rm{M}_{\odot}$ around 14 MW-mass hosts from the FIRE-2 simulations. Lower-mass satellites ($M*\lesssim10^7\rm{M}_{\odot}$) are mostly quiescent and higher-mass satellites ($M*\gtrsim10^8\rm{M}_{\odot}$) are mostly star-forming, with intermediate-mass satellites ($M*\approx10^{7-8…
