We study the geometry of horospherical products by providing a description of their distances, geodesics and visual boundary. These products contains both discrete and continuous examples, including Cayley graphs of lamplighter groups and solvable Lie groups of the form IR semi-direct product with (N1 xN2), where N1 and N2 are two simply connected, nilpotent Lie groups.

Geodesic ball packings generated by regular prism tilings in $\mathbf{Nil}$ geometry

In this paper we study the regular prism tilings and construct ball packings by geodesic balls related to the above tilings in the projective model of $\mathbf{Nil}$ geometry. Packings are generated by action of the discrete prism groups $\mathbf{pq2_{1}}$. We prove that these groups are realized by prism tilings in $\mathbf{Nil}$ space if $(p,q)=(3,6), (4,4), (6,3)$ and determine packing density formulae for geodesic ball packings generated by the above prism groups. Densest geodesic ball packings to $\mathbf{S}^2\!\times\!\mathbf{R}$ space groups generated by screw motions

In this paper we study the locally optimal geodesic ball packings with equal balls to the $\mathbf{S}^2\!\times\!\mathbf{R}$ space groups having rotation point groups and their generators are screw motions. We determine and visualize the densest simply transitive geodesic ball arrangements for the above space groups, moreover we compute their optimal densities and radii. After having investigated the regular prisms and prism tilings in the $\SLR$ space in the previous work \cite{Sz13-1} of the second author, we consider the problem of geodesic ball packings related to those tilings and their symmetry groups $\mathbf{pq2_1}$. $\SLR$ is one of the eight Thurston geometries that can be derived from the 3-dimensional Lie group of all $2\times 2$ real matrices with determinant one. An indiscrete Bieberbach theorem: from amenable CAT(0) groups to Tits buildings

Non-positively curved spaces admitting a cocompact isometric action of an amenable group are investigated. A classification is established under the assumption that there is no global fixed point at infinity under the full isometry group. The visual boundary is then a spherical building. When the ambient space is geodesically complete, it must be a product of flats, symmetric spaces, biregular trees and Bruhat--Tits buildings. CAT(0) spaces with boundary the join of two Cantor sets

We will show that if a proper complete CAT(0) space X has a visual boundary homeomorphic to the join of two Cantor sets, and X admits a geometric group action by a group containing a subgroup isomorphic to Z^2, then its Tits boundary is the spherical join of two uncountable discrete sets. If X is geodesically complete, then X is a product, and the group has a finite index subgroup isomorphic to a lattice in the product of two isometry groups of bounded valence bushy trees.

Harmonic measures on Bowditch boundaries of groups hyperbolic relative to virtually nilpotent subgroups

For a group hyperbolic relative to virtually nilpotent subgroups, on a cusped graph associated to the group, we construct a random walk whose Martin boundary is the Bowditch boundary of the group. Moreover, the harmonic measure is a conformal density corresponding to a hyperbolic Green metric and is exact dimensional on the Bowditch boundary. The latter equipped with a visual distance induced by the Green metric is an Ahlfors-regular metric measure space.
