In this paper, we investigate the thermodynamics and weak cosmic censorship conjecture in a RN-AdS black hole with the cloud of strings and quintessence by the scattering of a scalar field. The variations of the thermodynamic variables are calculated in the normal and extended phase spaces. In the normal phase space, where the cosmological constant is considered as a constant, the first and second laws of thermodynamics are satisfied. In the extended phase space, where the cosmological constant and the parameters related to the cloud of strings and quintessence are treated as variables, the first law of thermodynamics is still satisfied and the second law of thermodynamics is indefinite. Moreover, we find that the weak cosmic censorship conjecture is valid for the extremal and near-extremal black holes in both phase spaces.
In this paper, we study the thermodynamics and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture of the RN-AdS black hole surrounded by the quintessence under the scattering of a charged complex scalar field. With scalar field scattering, the variation of the black hole is calculated in the extended and normal phase spaces. In the extended phase space, the cosmological constant and the normalization parameter are considered as thermodynamic variables, and the first law of thermodynamics is valid, but the second law of thermodynamics is not valid. In the normal phase space, the cosmological constant and th…
Considering the cosmological constant as the pressure, we mainly study the laws of thermodynamics and weak cosmic censorship conjecture in the Reissner-Nordström-AdS black hole surrounded by quintessence dark energy under charged particle absorption. The first law of thermodynamics is found to be valid as a particle is absorbed by the black hole. The second law however is found to be violated for the extremal and near-extremal black holes since the entropy of these black hole decrease. Moreover, we find that the extremal black hole do not change it configuration in the extended phase space, im…
In this paper, we apply the new Gedanken experiment to investigate the weak cosmic censorship conjecture for Reissner-Nordström AdS black holes surrounded by quintessence. Since the perturbation of matter fields doesn't affect the spacetime geometry, we propose the stability condition and assume the process of matter fields falling into the black hole satisfies the null energy condition. Based on Iyer-Wald formalism we can derive the first order and second-order variational identities. From the two identities and the above two conditions lead to the first-order and second-order perturbation in…
We present the generalization of a regular black hole surrounded by quintessence, considering Bardeen-like solutions added with this fluid. We also compare our solution particularized to the Bardeen one with those found in the recent literature, showing that some of them are inconsistent since they add quintessence "by hand", neglecting also the interesting behavior of the complete solution nearby the origin. Then, we present the correct way to implement the quintessential fluid in more general four-dimensional regular black hole geometries and explore some of its consequences, such as removin…
A surprising connection between the weak gravity conjecture and cosmic censorship has recently been proposed. In particular, it was argued that a promising class of counterexamples to cosmic censorship in four-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-$Λ$ theory would be removed if charged particles (with sufficient charge) were present. We test this idea and find that indeed if the weak gravity conjecture is true, one cannot violate cosmic censorship this way. Remarkably, the minimum value of charge required to preserve cosmic censorship appears to agree precisely with that proposed by the weak gravity co…
We investigate the validity of weak cosmic censorship conjecture for electrically charged black holes in the presence of gravity's rainbow under charged particle absorption. The rainbow effect is shown to play an important role when the black hole is modified by a particle carrying energy and electric charge. Remarkably, we prove that the rainbow-charged black hole can be overspun beyond the extremal condition under charged particle absorption. Further, it is demonstrated that the second law of thermodynamics and cosmic censorship conjecture are violated owing to the rainbow effect.
The Penrose strong cosmic censorship conjecture asserts that Cauchy horizons inside dynamically formed black holes are unstable to remnant matter fields that fall into the black holes. The physical importance of this conjecture stems from the fact that it provides a necessary condition for general relativity to be a truly deterministic theory of gravity. Determining the fate of the Penrose conjecture in non-asymptotically flat black-hole spacetimes has been the focus of intense research efforts in recent years. In the present essay we provide a remarkably compact proof, which is based on Beken…
Hiscock and Weems showed that under Hawking evaporation, an isolated asymptotically flat Reissner-Nordstrom (RN) black hole evolves in a surprising manner: if it starts with a relatively small value of charge-to-mass ratio Q/M, then said value will temporarily increase along its evolutionary path, before finally decreases towards zero. This contrasts with highly charged ones that simply radiate away its charge steadily. The combination of these two effects is the cosmic censor at work: there exists an attractor that flows towards the Schwazschild limit, which ensures that extremality -- and he…
A model is presented where the quintessence parameter, w, is related to a time-varying gravitational constant. Assuming a present value of w equals -.98, we predict a current variation of G dot/G = -.06 H0. H0 is Hubbles parameter, G is Newtons constant and G dot is the derivative of G with respect to time. Thus, G has a cosmic origin, is decreasing with respect to cosmological time, and is proportional to H0, as originally proposed by the Dirac-Jordan hypothesis. Within our model, we can explain the cosmological constant fine-tuning problem, the discrepancy between the present very weak value…
We consider quintessence models within 4D effective descriptions of gravity coupled to two scalar fields. These theories are known to give rise to viable models of late-time cosmic acceleration without any need for flat potentials, and so they are potentially in agreement with the dS Swampland conjecture. In this paper we investigate the possibility of consistently embedding such constructions in string theory. We identify situations where the quintessence fields are either closed string universal moduli or non-universal moduli such as blow-up modes. We generically show that no trajectories co…
In this paper, we test the weak cosmic censorship conjecture (WCCC) for the Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter (RN-dS) black hole surrounded by perfect fluid dark matter. We consider a spherically symmetric perturbation on deriving linear and non-linear order perturbation inequalities by applying new version of gedanken experiments well accepted from the work of Sorce and Wald. Contrary to the well-known result that the Reissner-Nordström (RN) black hole could be overcharged under linear order particle accretion it is hereby shown that the same black hole in perfect fluid dark matter with cosmologic…

It turns out that repulsive effect due to rotation of a rotating black hole dominates over attraction due to mass for large $r$ in dimensions $>5$. This gives rise to a remarkable result that black hole in these higher dimensions in contrast to lower dimensional ones cannot be overspun even under linear test particle accretion. Further if a black hole in dimension $>4$ has one of its rotation parameters zero, it has only one horizon and hence it can never be overspun. Thus rotating black holes in six and higher dimensions, and those with one rotation parameter switched off, would always obey t…
We describe a new type of generalized gravity-matter models where $f(R)=R+R^2$ gravity couples in a non-conventional way to a scalar "inflaton" field, to a second scalar "darkon" field responsible for dark energy/dark matter unification, as well as to a non-standard nonlinear gauge field system, which is responsible for a charge confining/deconfinfing mechanism. The essential non-conventional feature of our models is employing the formalism of non-Riemannian volume forms, i.e. metric-independent non-Riemannian volume elements on the spacetime manifold, defined in terms of auxiliary antisymmetr…
In this paper, we have extended and deepened the study on fractional order phase transition (FPT) of a charged AdS black hole performed in [1]. We have carried out a detailed analysis of FPT for several AdS black hole prototypes: black hole surrounded by quintessence background, 5D Gauss-Bonnet, D dimensional RN-AdS BH, and lastly Kerr black holes. We have shown that the 4/3 order FPT at critical points obtained in [1] still holds for the first three black holes systems, while for Kerr black holes, the fractional order is rather 1/3. These results suggest two remarkable features: Firstly 4/3 o…
We present results from a numerical study of rotating black hole formation in 3-dimensional asymptotically anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime, focusing on the structure of the black hole interior. While black holes in $AdS_3$ are of theoretical interest for a wide variety of reasons, we choose to study this system primarily as a toy model for astrophysical (4-dimensional) black holes formed from gravitational collapse. We investigate the effect of angular momentum on the geometry inside the event horizon, and see qualitative changes in the interior structure as a function of the spin parameter. Fo…
We develop a new test that provides a necessary condition for a quantum state to be smooth in the vicinity of a null surface: near-horizon modes that can be defined locally near any patch of the null surface must be correctly entangled with each other and with their counterparts across the surface. This test is considerably simpler to implement than a full computation of the renormalized stress-energy tensor. We apply this test to Reissner-Nordstrom black holes in asymptotically anti-de Sitter space and provide numerical evidence that the inner horizon of such black holes is singular in the Ha…
It is well-known that quantum field theory (QFT) induces a huge value of the cosmological constant, $Λ$, which is outrageously inconsistent with cosmological observations. We review here some aspects of this fundamental theoretical conundrum (`the cosmological constant problem') and strongly argue in favor of the possibility that the cosmic vacuum density $ρ_{\rm vac}$ may be mildly evolving with the expansion rate $H$. Such a `running vacuum model' (RVM) proposal predicts an effective dynamical dark energy without postulating new ad hoc fields (quintessence and the like). Using the method of …
It is remarkable that the primordial fluctuations as revealed by the CMB coincide with what quantum fluctuations would look like if they were stretched across the sky by accelerated cosmic expansion. It has been observed that this same stretching also brings very small -- even trans-Planckian -- length scales up to observable sizes if extrapolated far enough into the past. This potentially jeopardizes later descriptions of late-time cosmology by introducing uncontrolled trans-Planckian theoretical errors into all calculations. Recent speculations, such as the Trans-Planckian Censorship Conject…
Many fundamental issues remain for black hole thermodynamics after almost half a century of its conception. For example, what are the underlying degrees of freedom of a black hole horizon that give rise to said thermodynamical properties? Furthermore, classical black holes also harbor a spacetime singularity. Although it is often believed that quantum gravity would "cure" the singularity, as emphasized by Penrose, this viewpoint requires a deeper examination. In this review, I will examine the possibility that singularities remain in quantum gravity, the roles they may play, and the possible l…
