Suppose $f\in L^p(\mathbb{D})$, where $p\geq1$ and $\mathbb{D}$ is the unit disk. Let $\mathfrak{J}_0$ be the integral operator defined as follows: $\mathfrak{J}_0[f](z)=\int_{\mathbb{D}}\frac{z}{1-\bar{w}z}f(w)\mathrm{d}A(w)$, where $z$, $w\in\mathbb{D}$ and $\mathrm{d}A(w)=\frac{1}π\mathrm{d}x\mathrm{d}y$ is the normalized area measure on $\mathbb{D}$. Suppose $\mathfrak{J}_0^*$ is the adjoint operator of $\mathfrak{J}_0$. Then $\mathfrak{J}^*_0=\mathfrak{B}\mathfrak{C}$, where $\mathfrak{B}$ and $\mathfrak{C}$ are the operators induced by the Bergman projection and Cauchy transform, respectively. In this paper, we obtain the $L^1$, $L^2$ and $L^{\infty}$ norm of the operator $\mathfrak{J}_0^*$. Moreover, we obtain the $L^p(\mathbb{D})\rightarrow L^\infty(\mathbb{D})$ norm of the operators $\mathfrak{C}$ and $\mathfrak{J}_0^*$, provided that $p>2$. This study is a continuation of the investigations carried out in [4] and [11].
We obtain several estimates for the $L^p$ operator norms of the Bergman and Cauchy-Szegö projections over the the Siegel upper half-space. As a by-product, we also determine the precise value of the $L^p$ operator norm of a family of integral operators over the Siegel upper half-space.
In this paper we study the additive splitting associated to the quaternionic Cauchy transform defined by the Cauchy formula of slice hyperholomorphic functions. Moreover, we introduce and study the analogue of the fundamental solution of the global operator of slice hyperholomorphic functions. We state our results in the quaternionic setting but several results hold for Clifford algebra-valued function with minor changes in the proofs.
The range of the Bergman space B_2(G) under the Cauchy transform K is described for a large class of domains. For a quasidisk G the relation K(B_2^*(G))=B_2^1(\mathbb C\setminus\bar{G}) is proved.
The so-called weighted solid Cauchy transform, from inside the unit disc into the complement of its closure, is considered and their basic properties such as boundedness is studied for appropriate probability measures. The action the disc polynomials is explicitly computed and used to describe the range of its restriction on the weighted true poly-Bergman spaces.
The purpose of this paper is to complement the results in [LS-1] by showing the dense definability of the Cauchy-Leray transform for the domains that give the counterexamples of [LS-1], where $L^p$-boundedness is shown to fail when either the "near" $C^2$ boundary regularity, or the strong $\mathbb C$-linear convexity assumption is dropped.
Solution operators for the equation $\bar \partial u=f$ are constructed on general product domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$. When the factors are one-dimensional, the operator is a simple integral operator: it involves specific derivatives of $f$ integrated against iterated Cauchy kernels. For higher dimensional factors, the solution is constructed by solving sub-$\bar \partial$ equations with modified data on the factors. Estimates of the operators in several norms are proved.
The problem of describing the range of a Bergman space B_2(G) under the Cauchy transform K for a Jordan domain G was solved by Napalkov (Jr) and Yulmukhametov. It turned out that K(B_2(G))=B_2^1(C\bar G) if and only if G is a quasidisk; here B_2^1(C\bar G) is the Dirichlet space of the complement of \bar G. The description of K(B_2(G)) for an integrable Jordan domain is given in [S. Merenkov, "On the Cauchy transform of the Bergman space", Mat. Fiz. Anal. Geom., 7 (2000), no. 1, 119-127]. In the present paper we give a description of K(B_2(G,ω)) analogous to the one given in [S. Merenkov, "On …
We provide the details of the first proof in~\cite{CJS89}, which proved that Cauchy transform of $L^2$~functions on Lipschitz curves is bounded. We then prove that every $L^2$~function on Lipschitz curves is the sum of non-tangential boundary limit of functions in $H^2(Ω_\pm)$, the Hardy spaces on domains over and under the Lipschitz curve. We also obtain a more accurate boundary of Cauchy transform under the condition that the Lipschitz curve is the real axis.
We study subharmonic functions whose Laplacian is supported on a null set and in connected components of of the complement to the support admit harmonic extensions to larger sets. We prove that if such a function has a piecewise holomorphic derivative, then it is locally piecewise harmonic. In generic cases it coincides locally with the maximum of finitely many harmonic functions. Moreover, we describe the support when the holomorphic derivative satisfies a global algebraic equation. The proofs follow classical patterns and our methods may also be of independent interest.
Let $u\in W^{2,p}_0$, $1\le p\le \infty$ be a solution of the Poisson equation $Δu = h$, $h\in L^p$, in the unit disk. It is proved that $\|\nabla u\|_{L^p} \le a_p\|h\|_{L^p}$ with sharp constant $a_p$ for $p=1$ and $p=\infty$ and that $\|\partial u\|_{L^p} \le b_p\|h\|_{L^p}$ with sharp constant $b_p$ for $p=1$, $p=2$ and $p=\infty$. In addition is proved that for $p>2$ $||\partial u||_{L^\infty}\le c_p\Vert h\Vert_{L^p} $, and $||\nabla u||_{L^\infty}\le C_p\Vert h\Vert_{L^p}, $ with sharp constants $c_p$ and $C_p$. An extension to smooth Jordan domains is given. These problems are equivale…
The Fueter-Sce-Qian (FSQ for short) mapping theorem is a two-steps procedure to extend holomorphic functions of one complex variable to slice monogenic functions and to monogenic functions. Using the Cauchy formula of slice monogenic functions the FSQ-theorem admits an integral representation for $n$ odd. In this paper we show that the relation $ Δ_{n+1}^{(n-1)/2}S_L^{-1}=\mathcal{F}^L_n $ between the slice monogenic Cauchy kernel $S_L^{-1}$ and the F-kernel $\mathcal{F}^L_n$, that appear in the integral form of the FSQ-theorem for $n$ odd, holds also in the case we consider the fractional pow…
We describe the range of of weighted Cauchy transform and its $k$-Bergman projection when action on weighted true poly-Bargmann spaces constituting an orthogonal Hilbertian decomposition of the Hilbert space of Gaussian functions on the complex plane.
Let $\mathbb{D}$ be the unit disk and $φ\in L^p(\mathbb{D}, \mathrm{d}A)$, where $1\leq p\leq\infty$. For $z\in\mathbb{D}$, the Cauchy-transform on $\mathbb{D}$, denote by $\mathcal{P}$, is defined as follows: $$\mathcal{P}[φ](z)=-\int_{\mathbb{D}}\left(\frac{φ(w)}{w-z}+\frac{z\overline{φ(w)}}{1-\bar{w}z}\right)\mathrm{d}A(w).$$ The Beurling transform on $\mathbb{D}$, denote by $\mathcal{H}$, is now defined as the $z$-derivative of $\mathcal{P}$. In this paper, by using Hardy's type inequalities and Bessel functions, we show that $\|\mathcal{P}\|_{L^2\to L^2}=α\approx1.086$, where $α$ is a sol…
We study chordal Loewner families in the upper half-plane and show that they have a parametric representation. We show one, that to every chordal Loewner family there corresponds a unique measurable family of probability measures on the real line, and two, that to every measurable family of probability measures on the real line there corresponds a unique chordal Loewner family. In both cases the correspondence is being given by solving the chordal Loewner equation. We use this to show that any probability measure on the real line with finite variance and mean zero has univalent Cauchy transfor…
We generalize the notion of harmonic conjugate functions and Hilbert transforms to higher dimensional euclidean spaces, in the setting of differential forms and the Hodge-Dirac system. These conjugate functions are in general far from being unique, but under suitable boundary conditions we prove existence and uniqueness of conjugates. The proof also yields invertibility results for a new class of generalized double layer potential operators on Lipschitz surfaces and boundedness of related Hilbert transforms.
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for a function in a naturally appearing functional space to be a fixed point of the Ruelle-Thurston operator associated to a rational function, see Lemma 2.1. The proof uses essentially a recent [13]. As an immediate consequence, we revisit Theorem 1 and Lemma 5.2 of [11], see Theorem 1 and Lemma 2.2 below.
We study the localization of zeros of Cauchy transforms of discrete measures on the real line. This question is motivated by the theory of canonical systems of differential equations. In particular, we prove that the spaces of Cauchy transforms having the localization property are in one-to-one correspondence with the canonical systems of special type, namely, those whose Hamiltonians consist only of indivisible intervals accumulating on the left. Various aspects of the localization phenomena are studied in details. Connections with the density of polynomials and other topics in analysis are d…
We consider a family of linear singularly perturbed Cauchy problems which combines partial differential operators and linear fractional transforms. We construct a collection of holomorphic solutions on a full covering by sectors of a neighborhood of the origin in $\mathbb{C}$ with respect to the perturbation parameter $ε$. This set is built up through classical and special Laplace transforms along piecewise linear paths of functions which possess exponential or super exponential growth/decay on horizontal strips. A fine structure which entails two levels of Gevrey asymptotics of order 1 and so…
This paper is motivated by a claim in the classical textbook of Muskhelishvili concerning the Cauchy singular integral operator $S$ on Hölder functions with parameters. To the contrary of the claim, a counter example was constructed by Tumanov which shows that $S$ with parameters fails to maintain the same Hölder regularity with respect to the parameters. In view of the example, the behavior of the Cauchy singular integral operator with parameters between a type of Log-Hölder spaces is investigated to obtain the sharp norm estimates. At the end of the paper, we discuss its application to the $…
We give a local characterization of the class of functions having positive distributional derivative with respect to $\bar{z}$ that are almost everywhere equal to one of finitely many analytic functions and satisfy some mild non-degeneracy assumptions. As a consequence, we give conditions that guarantee that any subharmonic piecewise harmonic function coincides locally with the maximum of finitely many harmonic functions and we describe the topology of their level curves. These results are valid in a quite general setting as they assume no {\em à priori} conditions on the differentiable struct…
We characterize those pairs of weights $ σ$ on $ \mathbb{R}$ and $ τ$ on $ \mathbb{C}_+$ for which the Cauchy transform $\mathsf{C}_σ f (z) \equiv \int_{\mathbb{R}} \frac {f(x)} {x-z} \; σ(dx)$, $ z\in \mathbb{C}_+$, is bounded from $L ^2(\mathbb{R};σ)$ to $L ^{2}(\mathbb{C}_+; τ)$. The characterization is in terms of an $A_2$ condition on the pair of weights and testing conditions for the transform, extending the recent solution of the two weight inequality for the Hilbert transform. As corollaries of this result we derive (1) a characterization of embedding measures for the model space $K_\v…
Denote by $C^α(\mathbb{D})$ the space of the functions $f$ on t}he unit disk $\mathbb{D}$ which are Hölder continuous with the exponent $α$, and denote by $C^{1, α}(\mathbb{D})$ the space which consists of differentiable functions $f$ such that their derivatives are in the space $C^α(\mathbb{D})$. Let $\mathcal{C}$ be the Cauchy transform of Dirichlet problem. In this paper, we obtain the norm estimates of $\|\mathcal{C}\|_{L^p\to L^q}$, where $3/2<p<2$ and $q=p/(p-1)$. As an application, we show that if $3/2<p<2$, then $u\in C^μ(\mathbb{D})$, where $μ=2/p-1$. We also show that if $2<p<\infty$…
Hermite-Padé approximants of type II are vectors of rational functions with common denominator that interpolate a given vector of power series at infinity with maximal order. We are interested in the situation when the approximated vector is given by a pair of Cauchy transforms of smooth complex measures supported on the real line. The convergence properties of the approximants are rather well understood when the supports consist of two disjoint intervals (Angelesco systems) or two intervals that coincide under the condition that the ratio of the measures is a restriction of the Cauchy transfo…
The family of Cauchy transforms \[C_{g}(z,w) = -\frac{1}π\int_{\mathbb{C} } \frac{g(u)}{\overline{u-w} (u-z) } da(u ),\] where the measurable function $g$ with compact (essential) support satisfies $0 \leq g\leq 1,$ and suitably defined for all complex $z, w,$ is closely connected to the theory of Hilbert space operators with one-dimensional self-commutators. Based on these connections one can derive the inequality \[\vert 1-\exp C{g}(z,w)\vert\leq 1. \] Here, using elementary methods, a direct proof of this inequality is given. The approach involves a detailed study of the convex family of in…
We investigate some spectral properties of the weighted quaternionic Cauchy transform when acting on the right quaternionic Hilbert space of Gaussian integrable functions. We study its boundedness, compactness, and memberships to the $k$-Schatten class, and we identify its range. This is done by means of its restriction to the n-th S-polyregular Bargmann space of the second kind, for which we provide an explicit closed expression for its action on the quaternionic Itô--Hermite polynomials constituting an orthogonal basis. We also exhibit an orthogonal basis of eigenfunctions of its n-Bergman p…
We compute the spectra of the Tanaka type Laplacians on the Rumin complex, a quotient of the tangential Cauchy-Riemann complex on the unit sphere in $C^n$. We prove that Szegö map is a unitary operator from a subspace of $(p, q-1)$-forms on the sphere defined by the Tanaka operators and the normal vector field onto the space of $L^2$-harmonic $(p, q)$-forms on the unit ball. Our results generalize earlier result of Folland.
In [8] it was shown that the transplant operator transforms solutions of one Vekua equation into solutions of another Vekua equation, related to the first via a Schrödinger equation. In this paper we demonstrate a fundamental property of this operator: it transforms formal powers of the first Vekua equation into formal powers of the same order for the second Vekua equation. This property allows us to obtain positive formal powers and a generating sequence of a "complicated" Vekua equation from positive formal powers and a generating sequence of "simpler" Vekua equation. Similar results is obta…
We study the class of discrete measures in the complex plain with the following property: up to a finite number, all zeros of any Cauchy transform of the measure (with $\ell^2$-data) are localized near the support of the measure. We find several equivalent forms of this property and prove that the parts of the support attracting zeros of Cauchy transforms are ordered by inclusion modulo finite sets.
Cauchy-de Branges spaces are Hilbert spaces of entire functions defined in terms of Cauchy transforms of discrete measures on the plane and generalizing the classical de Branges theory. We consider extensions of two important properties of de Branges spaces to this, more general, setting. First, we discuss geometric properties (completeness, Riesz bases) of systems of reproducing kernels corresponding to the zeros of certain entire functions associated to the space. In the case of de Branges spaces they correspond to orthogonal bases of reproducing kernels. The second theme of the paper is a c…
