Propagation and dynamics of electromagnetic vortex solitons have been studied in the electron positron ion plasmas of super-Eddington active galactic nuclei (AGN). Existence and stability of such structures is demonstrated for highly transparent AGN plasma media. Possible implications of dynamical features and corresponding observational signatures are discussed.

We present a detailed, broadband X-ray spectral analysis of the ULX pulsar NGC 7793 P13, a known super-Eddington source, utilizing data from the $XMM$-$Newton$, $NuSTAR$ and $Chandra$ observatories. The Be X-ray pulsar, SMC X-3 underwent a giant outburst from 2016 August to 2017 March, which was monitored with the Swift satellite. During the outburst, its broadband flux increased dramatically, and the unabsorbed X-ray luminosity reached an extreme value of $\sim 10^{39}$ erg/s around August 24. Using the Swift/XRT data, we measure the observed pulse frequency of the neutron star to compute the orbital parameters of the binary system. We consider the three currently known pulsing ultraluminous X--ray sources (PULXs). We show that in one of them the observed spinup rate requires super--Eddington accretion rates at the magnetospheric radius, even if magnetar--strength fields are assumed. In the two other systems a normal--strength neutron star field implies super--Eddington accretion at the magnetosphere. Adopting super--Eddington mass transfer as the defining characteristic of ULX systems, we find the parameters required for self--consistent simultaneous fits of the luminosities and spinup rates of the three pulsed systems. …
