Recent BELLE measurements provide the cross section for single hadron production in $e^+e^-$ annihilations, differential in thrust and in the hadron transverse momentum with respect to the thrust axis. Universality breaking effects due to process-dependent soft factors make it very difficult to relate this cross sections to those corresponding to hadron-pair production in $e^+e^-$ annihilations, where transverse momentum dependent (TMD) factorization can be applied. The correspondence between these two cross sections is examined in the framework of the Collins-Soper-Sterman factorization, in the collinear as well as in the TMD approach. We propose a scheme that allows to relate the TMD parton densities defined in 1-hadron and in 2-hadron processes, neatly separating, within the soft and collinear parts, the non-perturbative terms from the contributions that can be calculated perturbatively. The regularization of rapidity divergences introduces cut-offs, the arbitrariness of which will be properly reabsorbed by means of a mechanism closely reminiscent of a gauge transformation. In this way, we restore the possibility to perform global phenomenological studies of TMD physics, simultaneously analyzing data belonging to different hadron classes.
Recent works have discussed the violation of factorization and universality in hadronic hard scattering processes aimed at measurements of T-odd distributions. We use simple arguments to show that it is possible to restore an approximate factorization involving T-odd contributions if the factorization breaking interactions present a frequency spectrum dominated by by a narrow and regular peak whose maximum value corresponds to a respected factorization.
In a perturbative QCD approach, with inclusion of spin and transverse momentum effects, experimental data on azimuthal asymmetries observed in polarized semi-inclusive deeply inelastic scattering and e+ e- annihilations can be used to determine the Sivers, transversity and Collins soft functions. By using these functions, within the same scheme, we predict p(transv. polarized) p -> h + X single spin asymmetries in remarkable agreement with RHIC experimental data.
The flavour messenger sectors and their impact on the soft SUSY breaking terms are investigated in SUSY flavour models. In the case when the flavour scale M is below the SUSY breaking mediation scale M_S, the universality of soft terms, even if assumed at M_S, is radiatively broken. We estimate this effect in a broad class of models. In the CKM basis that effect gives flavour off-diagonal soft masses comparable to the tree-level estimate based on the flavour symmetry.
Several properties of high energy hadronic collisions are illustrated by comparing DIS and the Drell-Yan process within a scalar QED model. Diffraction and transverse momentum broadening within the target system are found to be non-universal. Here these effects are simply due to the Coulomb phase shift in the Drell-Yan production amplitude.
We consider the production of an arbitrary number of colour-singlet particles near partonic threshold, and show that next-to-leading order cross sections for this class of processes have a simple universal form at next-to-leading power (NLP) in the energy of the emitted gluon radiation. Our analysis relies on a recently derived factorisation formula for NLP threshold effects at amplitude level, and therefore applies both if the leading-order process is tree-level and if it is loop-induced. It holds for differential distributions as well. The results can furthermore be seen as applications of r…
Recently we have proposed a simple hadronic axion model within gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. In this paper we discuss various cosmological consequences of the model in great detail. A particular attention is paid to a saxion, a scalar partner of an axion, which is produced as a coherent oscillation in the early universe. We show that our model is cosmologically viable, if the reheating temperature of inflation is sufficiently low. We also discuss the late decay of the saxion which gives a preferable power spectrum of the density fluctuation in the standard cold dark matter model when …
In view of recent experimental indications of violations of Lepton Flavor Universality (LFU) in $B$ decays, we analyze constraints and implications of LFU interactions, both using an effective theory approach, and an explicit dynamical model. We show that a simple dynamical model based on a $SU(2)_L$ triplet of massive vector bosons, coupled predominantly to third generation fermions (both quarks and leptons), can significantly improve the description of present data. In particular, the model decreases the tension between data and SM predictions concerning: i) the breaking of $τ$-$μ$ universal…
In extensive air shower experiments, the number of muons crossing a detector at a given position, as well as their arrival time, arrival direction, and energy, are determined by a more fundamental 3-dimensional distribution linked to the hadronic core of the shower. Muons are produced high up in the atmosphere after the decay of mesons in the hadronic cascade. The distributions of production depth, energy, and transverse momentum of muons are enough to fully predict the muon component of air showers in any particular observational condition. By using air-shower simulations with the state-of-th…
A numerical error is pointed out in the existing expression for the order $α_s^2$ longitudinal component of the squared-mass (D=2) contribution to the hadronic $τ$ decay rate. The corrected version is found to be such that, to order $α_s^2$, each term in the resulting series is larger than the previous one, ruling out the direct use of flavor breaking in hadronic $τ$ decays as a means of extracting the strange quark mass. An alternate approach, using model spectral functions previously developed for the strangeness-changing scalar channel (and employed in alternate sum rule analyses of $m_s$) …
We propose measurements of weighted differences of the angular observables in the rare decays $B \to K^*\ell^+\ell^-$. The proposed observables are very sensitive to the difference between the Wilson coefficients $\mathcal{C}_9^{(e)}$ and $\mathcal{C}_9^{(μ)}$ for decays into electrons and muons, respectively. At the same time, the charm-induced hadronic contributions are kinematically suppressed to $\lesssim 7\% (4\%)$ in the region $1\,$GeV$^2 \leq q^2 \leq 6\,$GeV$^2$, as long as LFU breaking occurs only in $\mathcal{C}^{(\ell)}_{9}$. This suppression becomes stronger for the region of low …
Dark matter detection rates for supergravity models with R parity where supersymmetry is broken at a scale >~M_G are discussed. Non-universal soft breaking masses in both the Higgs and squark sectors are considered, and it is seen that these can effect rates by a factor of 10-100 when m_X <~ 65 GeV (X=lightest neutralino) but otherwise make relatively small corrections. The b->s+γbranching ratio is seen to correlate with detector event rates, large (small) branching ratios corresponding to small (large) event rates. Effects of precision determinations of cosmological parameters or event rate p…
Recent experimental results in proton-proton and in proton-nucleus collisions at Large Hadron Collider energies show a strong similarity to those observed in nucleus-nucleus collisions, where the formation of a quark-gluon plasma is expected. We discuss the comparison between small colliding systems and nucleus-nucleus collisions, for: a)~the strangeness suppression factor $γ_s$ and yields of multi-strange hadrons; b)~the average transverse momentum, $p_t$, with particular attention to the low $p_t$ region where soft, non-perturbative effects are important; c)~the elliptic flow scaled by the p…

The modeling of jet substructure significantly differs between Parton Shower Monte Carlo (PSMC) programs. Despite this, we observe that machine learning classifiers trained on different PSMCs learn nearly the same function. This means that when these classifiers are applied to the same PSMC for testing, they result in nearly the same performance. This classifier universality indicates that a machine learning model trained on one simulation and tested on another simulation (or data) will likely be optimal. Our observations are based on detailed studies of shallow and deep neural networks applie…
In this work we examine the possible existence of new physics beyond the standard model which could modify the branching fractions of the leptonic (mainly tauonic) decays of bottomonium vector resonances below the $B\bar{B}$ threshold. The decay width is factorized as the product of two pieces: a) the probability of an intermediate pseudoscalar color-singlet $b\bar{b}$ state (coupling to the dominant Fock state of the Upsilon via a magnetic dipole transition) and a soft (undetected) photon; b) the annihilation width of the $b\bar{b}$ pair into two leptons, mediated by a non-standard CP-odd Hig…
New finite energy sum rules (FESR's) for extracting m_s from hadronic tau decay data are constructed which (1) significantly reduce potential theoretical uncertainties present in existing sum rule analyses and (2) remove problems associated with both the poor convergence of the OPE representation of the longitudinal part of the $us$ vector and axial vector correlators and the large statistical errors in the $us$ spectral data above the K^* region.
In the field theoretical description of hadronic scattering processes, single transverse-spin asymmetries arise due to gluon initial and final state interactions. These interactions lead to process dependent Wilson lines in the operator definitions of transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions. In particular for hadron-hadron scattering processes with hadronic final states this has important ramifications for possible factorization formulas in terms of (non)universal TMD parton distribution functions. In this paper we will systematically separate the universality-breaking part…
A simple hadronic axion model is proposed in the framework of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. Dynamics of Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking is governed by supersymmetry breaking effects and the Peccei-Quinn breaking scale $f_{PQ}$ is inversely proportional to the gravitino mass. The gravitino mass range which corresponds to the axion window $f_{PQ} \simeq 10^{9}$ GeV -- $10^{13}$ GeV lies in the region predicted by gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking models. The model is also shown to be cosmologically viable.
We systematically analyze the correlations between the various leptonic and hadronic flavor violating processes arising in SUSY Grand Unified Theories. Using the GUT-symmetric relations between the soft SUSY breaking parameters, we assess the impact of hadronic and leptonic flavor observables on the SUSY sources of flavor violation.
We investigate one-flavor QCD with an additional chiral scalar field. For a large domain in the space of coupling constants, this model belongs to the same universality class as QCD, and the effects of the scalar become unobservable. This is connected to a ``bound-state fixed point'' of the renormalization flow for which all memory of the microscopic scalar interactions is lost. The QCD domain includes a microscopic scalar potential with minima at nonzero field. On the other hand, for a scalar mass term m^2 below a critical value m_c^2, the universality class is characterized by perturbative s…
We analyse the violations of lepton-flavour universality in the ratios B(P -> l nu)/B(P -> l' nu) using a general effective theory approach, discussing various flavour-symmetry breaking patterns of physics beyond the SM. We find that in models with Minimal Lepton Flavour Violation the effects are too small to be observed in the next generations of experiments in all relevant meson systems (P = Pi, K, B). In a Grand Unified framework with a minimal breaking of the flavour symmetry, the effects remain small in Pi and K decays while large violations of lepton-flavour universality are possible in …
Understanding hadronic interactions at high energies represents a very important ingredient for modeling high energy cosmic ray air showers. In this paper, we present a new approach to simulate hadronic interactions, including hadron-hadron, hadron-nucleus, and nucleus-nucleus scattering, in the energy range roughly between 10^11 and 10^17 eV. Such collisions are very complex, being composed of many components, and therefore some strategy is needed to construct a reliable model. The central point of our approach is the hypothesis, that the behavior of high energy interactions is universal (uni…
Recent progress in the description of the properties of hadronic atoms on the basis of non-relativistic effective Lagrangian approach and Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) is reported. For the case of the pi(+)pi(-) atom decay, the problem is completely solved, both conceptually and numerically. For the pi(-)p atom, a general expression for the ground-state energy is obtained in the first non-leading order in isospin breaking, and the numerical analysis is carried out at O(p^2) in ChPT. We briefly consider a possible solution of the "potential model puzzle" in the hadronic atom problem, provid…
Within the context of composite Higgs models, recent hints on lepton-flavour non-universality in $B$ decays can be explained by a vector resonance $V$ with sizeable couplings to the Standard Model leptons ($\ell$). We argue that, in such a case, spin-$1/2$ leptonic resonances ($L$) are most probably light enough to open the decay mode $V \rightarrow L\ell$. This implies, in combination with the fact that couplings between composite resonances are much larger than those between composite and elementary fields, that this new decay can be important. In this paper, we explore under which condition…
In light of the very recent updates on the $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$ measurements from the LHCb and Belle collaborations, we systematically explore here imprints of New Physics in $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^- $ transitions using the language of effective field theories. We focus on effects that violate Lepton Flavour Universality both in the Weak Effective Theory and in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory. In the Weak Effective Theory we find a preference for scenarios with the simultaneous presence of two operators, a left-handed quark current with vector muon coupling and a right-handed quark curr…
Using non relativistic effective Lagrangian techniques, we analyze the hadronic decay of the pi+pi- atom and the strong energy-level shift of pionic hydrogen in the ground state. We derive general formulae for the width and level shift, valid at next-to-leading order in isospin breaking. The result is expressed in terms of hadronic threshold amplitudes that include isospin-breaking effects. In order to extract isospin symmetric scattering lengths from the data, we invoke chiral perturbation theory, that allows one to relate the scattering lengths to the threshold amplitudes.
The Gell-Mann$-$Okubo (GMO) mass relations following from $\text{SU}(3)$-flavor symmetry breaking in the strong sector have been proven to be of great success for describing hadron masses and classifying them into multiplets. Nowadays, it is widely believed that baryons being fermions have to obey GMO relations which are linear in the baryon masses, whilst mesons as bosons follow quadratic GMO relations. In this work, I challenge the distinction of GMO relations for baryons and mesons and conclude that both linear and quadratic GMO relations apply to both baryons and mesons in most instances (…
We investigate two points related to existing treatments of isospin-breaking corrections to the CVC relation between the e^+e^- --> pi^+ pi^- cross-section and dGamma[tau^- --> nu_tau pi^- pi^0]/ds. Implications for the value of the hadronic contribution to a_mu =(g-2)_mu /2 based on those analyses incorporating hadronic tau decay data are also considered. We conclude that the uncertainty on the isospin-breaking correction which must be applied to the tau decay data should be significantly increased, and that the central value of the rho-omega ``mixing'' contribution to this correction may be …
We obtain general analytical forms for the solutions of the one-loop renormalization group equations in the top/bottom/$τ$ sector of the MSSM. These solutions are valid for any value of $\tan β$ as well as any non-universal initial conditions for the soft SUSY breaking parameters and non-unification of the Yukawa couplings. We establish analytically a generic screening effect of non-universality, in the vicinity of the infrared quasi fixed point, which allows to determine sector-wise a hierarchy of sensitivity to initial conditions. We give also various numerical illustrations of this effect a…
The strange quark mass is extracted from a finite energy sum rule (FESR) analysis of the flavor-breaking difference of light-light and light-strange quark vector-plus-axial-vector correlators, using spectral functions determined from hadronic tau decay data. We point out problems for existing FESR treatments associated with potentially slow convergence of the perturbative series for the mass-dependent terms in the OPE over certain parts of the FESR contour, and show how to construct alternate weight choices which not only cure this problem, but also (1) considerably improve the convergence of …
Saturation of the Froissart-Martin unitarity bound that the total cross sections increase like log2(s/s_0) appears to be confirmed. Due to this statement, the B log2(s/s_0) was assumed to extend the universal rise of all the total hadronic cross sections to reduce the number of adjustable parameters by the COMPETE Collaboration in the Particle Data Group (2006). Based on this assumption of parametrization, we test if the assumption on the universality of $B$ is justified through investigations of the value of B for pi p(K p)$ and pbar p, pp scatterings. We search for the simultaneous best fit …
T-odd parton distribution functions in a Drell-Yan process are here studied by examining the evolution of the internal statistical properties of the interacting hadrons. T-odd functions are shown to be a signature of the irreversible process in which a hadronic state characterized by long range correlation properties (hadronic phase) decays to produce a cloud of independent partons (partonic phase) because of initial/final state interactions. The relevant considered variable is the rate of increase of the entropy of the hadronic system. This quantity is shown to be roughly equal to the decay r…
We consider the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) with varying amounts of non-universality in the soft supersymmetry-breaking contributions to the Higgs scalar masses. In addition to the constrained MSSM (CMSSM) in which these are universal with the soft supersymmetry-breaking contributions to the squark and slepton masses at the input GUT scale, we consider scenarios in which both the Higgs scalar masses are non-universal by the same amount (NUHM1), and scenarios in which they are independently non-universal (NUHM2). We show how the NUHM1 scenarios generalize the (…
Higgs triplet models are known to have difficulties obtaining agreement with electroweak precision data and in particular constraints on the $ρ$ parameter. Either a global $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R$ symmetry has to be imposed on the scalar potential at the electroweak scale, as done in the well-known Georgi-Machacek (GM) model, or the triplet vacuum expectation values must be very small. We construct a supersymmetric model that can satisfy constraints on the $ρ$ parameter, even if these two conditions are not fulfilled. We supersymmetrize the GM model by imposing the $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R$ s…
We discuss the problem of universality of the soft, supersymmetry-breaking terms in the minimal supersymmetric SU(5) model (MSSU(5)) completed with flavor-dependent nonrenormalizable operators (NROs), or nrMSSU(5). These are exploited to correct the wrong fermion spectrum and to slow down the too-fast decay rate of the proton that the MSSU(5) model predicts. In general, the presence of such operators in the superpotential and Kähler potential gives rise to tree-level flavor- and CP-violating entries in the sfermion mass matrices at the cutoff scale, even when the mediation of supersymmetry (SU…
Under the assumption of total absorption and dominance of the imaginary part of the scattering amplitude, we present a sum rule for any hadronic elastic differential cross-section ${dσ}\over{dt}$: the dimensionless quantity ${{1}\over{2}}\int (dt)\sqrt{{{1}\over π}{{dσ}\over{dt}}} \to 1$, at asymptotic energies. Experimental data from ISR and Tevatron confirm a trend towards its saturation and some estimates are presented for LHC. Its universality and further consequences for the nature of absorption in QCD based models for elastic and total cross-sections are explored.
The hypothesis that the magnetic catalysis of chiral symmetry breaking is due to interactions of massless fermions in their lowest Landau level is examined in the context of chirally symmetric models with short ranged interactions. It is argued that, when the magnetic field is sufficiently large, even an infinitesimal attractive interaction in the appropriate channel will break chiral symmetry.
We assume that QCD can be effectively described with string-like variables. The hadronic string is built over the chirally non-invariant QCD vacuum by means of the boundary interaction with background chiral fields associated with pions. By making this interaction compatible with the conformal symmetry of the string and with the unitarity constraint on chiral fields we reconstruct the equations of motion for the latter ones and furthermore recover the Lagrangian of non-linear sigma model of pion interactions. The estimated chiral structural constants of Gasser and Leutwyler fit well the phenom…
Supersymmetric theories supplemented by an underlying flavor-symmetry $\mathcal{G}_f$ provide a rich playground for model building aimed at explaining the flavor structure of the Standard Model. In the case where supersymmetry breaking is mediated by gravity, the soft-breaking Lagrangian typically exhibits large tree-level flavor violating effects, even if it stems from an ultraviolet flavor-conserving origin. Building on previous work, we continue our phenomenological analysis of these models with a particular emphasis on leptonic flavor observables. We consider three representative models wh…
We construct an expression for a general lepton flavour universality (LFU) ratio, $R_{X}$, in $b\to s l^+ l^-$ decays in terms of a series of hadronic quantities which can be treated as nuisance parameters. This expression allows to include any LFU ratio in global fits of $b\to s l^+ l^-$ short-distance parameters, even in the absence of a precise knowledge of the corresponding hadronic structure. The absence of sizeable LFU violation and the approximate left-handed structure of the Standard Model amplitude imply that only a very limited set of hadronic parameters hamper the sensitivity of $R_…
An analysis is given of the effects of non-universal soft SUSY breaking masses in the Higgs sector and in the third generation squark sector, and it is shown that they are highly coupled. Analytic expressions are obtained for their effects on the parameters $μ,m_A$ and on the third generation squark masses. Non-universality effects on dark matter event rates in neutralino-nucleus scattering are analysed. It is found that the effects are maximal in the range $m_{\tildeχ_1}\leq 65$~GeV where the relic density is governed by the Z and Higgs poles. In this range the minimum event rates can be incr…
In understanding the world of matter, the introduction of symmetry principles following experimentation or using the predictive power of symmetry principles to guide experimentation is most profound. The conservation of energy, linear momentum, angular momentum, charge, and CPT involve fundamental symmetries. All other conservation laws are valid within a restricted subspace of the four interactions: the strong, the electromagnetic, the weak, and the gravitational interaction. In this paper comments are made regarding parity violation in hadronic systems, charge symmetry breaking in two nucleo…
We study $W$-boson production accompanied by multiple jets at 7 TeV at the LHC. We study the jet-production ratio, of total cross sections for $W$+$n$- to $W$+($n-1$)-jet production, and the ratio of distributions in the total transverse hadronic jet energy $H_{\rm T}^{\rm jets}$. We use the ratios to extrapolate the total cross section, and the differential distribution in $H_{\rm T}^{\rm jets}$, to $W$+6-jet production. We use the BlackHat software library in conjunction with SHERPA to perform the computations.
The notion induced symmetry breaking (ISB) is introduced as a generalization of the spontaneous symmetry breaking mechanism and is illustrated in a simple two flavor spin model. In the case of QCD at finite baryon density, I argue that the quark interaction induced by zero sound satisfies the prerequisites which are necessary for a ISB scenario. In this scenario, the quark condensate sharply drops at the critical value of the chemical potential in coincidence with a rapid increase of the baryon density. The spectrum of the light particles is discussed below and above this phase transition. The…
We show how to obtain rising hadronic total cross sections in QCD, in the framework of the nonperturbative approach to soft high-energy scattering based on Wilson-loop correlators. Total cross sections turn out to be of "Froissart"-type, i.e., the leading energy dependence is of the form $σ_{\rm tot} \sim B \log^2 s$, in agreement with experiments. The observed universality of the prefactor $B$ is obtained rather naturally in this framework. In this case, $B$ is entirely determined by the stable spectrum of QCD, and predicted to be $B_{th} = 0.22\, {\rm mb}$, in fair agreement with experiments…
We have studied the $P\toγ^\starγ^\star$ form factor in Resonance Chiral Theory, with $P = π^0ηη'$, to compute the contribution of the pseudoscalar pole to the hadronic light-by-light piece of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. In this work we allow the leading $U(3)$ chiral symmetry breaking terms, obtaining the most general expression for the form factor up to $\mathcal{O}(m_P^2)$. The parameters of the Effective Field Theory are obtained by means of short distance constraints on the form factor and matching with the expected behavior from QCD. Those parameters that cannot be fixed i…
We discuss the separation of isospin-symmetric and isospin-breaking contributions in the hadronic observables within the framework of QCD plus QED. Further, we briefly review some recent work on the low-energy hadron phenomenology, in which the isospin-breaking effect plays a prominent role.

Using Mueller's dipole formalism for deep inelastic scattering in QCD, we formulate and solve the evolution for the generating function for the multiplicities of the produced particles, in hadronic processes at high energy. The solution for the multiplicities satisfies Koba-Nielsen-Olesen (KNO) scaling, with good agreement with the recently re-analyzed data from the H1 experiment at HERA (DESY), and the old ALEPH data for hadronic $Z$ decay at LEP (CERN). The same scaling function with KNO scaling, carries to the hadronic multiplicities from jets in electron-positron annihilation. This agreeme…
We derive the non-universal gaugino mass ratios in a supergravity (SUGRA) framework where the Higgs superfields belong to the non-singlet representations {\bf 54} and {\bf 770} in a SO(10) Grand Unified Theory (GUT). We evaluate the ratios for the phenomenologically viable intermediate breaking chain $SU(4)_C \times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R (G_{422})$. After a full calculation of the gaugino mass ratios, noting some errors in the earlier calculation for {\bf 54}, we obtain, using the renormalisation group equations (RGE), interesting low scale phenomenology of such breaking patterns. Here, we as…
The idea that the explicit breaking of scale invariance by the trace anomaly of QCD can be rephrased as a spontaneous breaking has been recently exploited to capture the low-energy strong interaction dynamics of dense (and also hot) matter in terms of two dilaton fields, the "soft" (chi_s) and the "hard" (chi_h) fields, in the frame work of the hidden local gauge symmetry. In the Freund-Nambu model, the spontaneous symmetry breaking of scale symmetry is induced by an explicitly breaking term, while the spontaneous symmetry breaking is possible in the flat potential model which is scale symmetr…
Results in the quenched approximation for SU(3) breaking ratios of the heavy-light decay constants and the $ΔF=2$ mixing matrix elements are reported. Using lattice simulations at $6/g^2=5.7$, 5.85, 6.0, and 6.3, we directly compute the mixing matrix element $M_{hl}=< \bar P_{hl}|\bar h γ_μ(1-γ_5)l \bar h γ_μ(1-γ_5)l|P_{hl}>$. Extrapolating to the physical B meson states, $B^0$ and $B_s^0$, we obtain $M_{bs}/M_{bd} =1.76(10)^{+57}_{-42}$. in the continuum limit. The systematic error includes the errors within the quenched approximation but not the errors of quenching. We also obtain the ratio …
Effective chiral restoration in the hadronic spectrum has been conjectured as an explanation of multiplets of nearly degenerate seen in highly excited hadrons. The conjecture depends on the states being insensitive to the dynamics of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking. A key question is whether this concept is well defined in QCD. This paper shows that it is by means of an explicit formal construction. This construction allows one to characterize this sensitivity for any observable calculable in QCD in Euclidean space via a functional integral. The construction depends on a generalization of…
Using spectral data from non-strange and strange hadronic tau decays, flavor-breaking chiral sum rules involving the flavor ud and us current-current two-point functions are constructed and used to determine the SU(3) NNLO low-energy constant combinations C_{61}^r, C_{12}^r+C_{61}^r+C_{80}^r and C_{12}^r-C_{61}^r+C_{80}^r. The first of these determinations updates the results of an earlier analysis by Durr and Kambor, while the latter two are new. The error on the C_{12}^r+C_{61}^r+C_{80}^r is particularly small. Comparisons are made to model estimates for these quantities. The role of the thi…
