Motivated by the recently reported excess in electron recoil events by the XENON1T collaboration, we propose an inelastic fermion dark matter (DM) scenario within the framework of a gauged $L_μ-L_τ$ extension of the standard model which can also accommodate tiny neutrino masses as well as anomalous muon magnetic moment $(g-2)_μ$. A Dirac fermion DM, naturally stabilised due to its chosen gauge charge, is split into two pseudo-Dirac mass eigenstates due to Majorana mass term induced by singlet scalar which also takes part in generating right handed neutrino masses responsible for type I seesaw origin of light neutrino masses. The inelastic down scattering of heavier DM component can give rise to the XENON1T excess for keV scale mass splitting with lighter DM component. We fit our model with XENON1T data and also find the final parameter space by using bounds from $(g-2)_μ$, DM relic, lifetime of heavier DM, inelastic DM-electron scattering rate, neutrino trident production rate as well as other flavour physics, astrophysical and cosmological observations. A tiny parameter space consistent with all these bounds and requirements will face further scrutiny in near future experiments operating at different frontiers.
Several different scenarios for neutrino scattering experiments using a neutrino beam from the muon collider complex are discussed. The physics reach of a neutrino experiment at the front end of a muon collider is shown to extend far beyond that of current neutrino experiments, since the high intensity neutrino beams one would see at the muon collider allow for a large flexibility in choosing neutrino targets. Measurements of quark spin, A-dependence of the structure function $xF_3$ and neutral current chiral couplings to quarks are outlined.
The A dependence of the production of hadrons in inelastic muon scattering and of the production of dimuons in high $Q^2$ proton interactions are simply related. Feynman x distributions and z scaling distributions in nuclei are compared with energy loss models. Suggestions for new data analyses are presented.
Various uncertainties in calculations of inelastic cross section and energy loss are considered. It is shown that widely used kinematic neglects and approximations result in deviations in calculations of these values. The obtained corrections increase with lepton mass, therefore possible consequences for tau-lepton are discussed, too.
A hybrid model is used to describe the energy loss of very high-energy taus and muons in matter due to inelastic scattering on nuclei. The model involves soft and semihard photonuclear interactions as well as the deep inelastic scattering including the weak neutral current processes. For the lepton scattering on nuclei all important nuclear effects, the shadowing, anti-shadowing, EMC and the nucleon binding, were taken into account. Approximating formulas for the muon and tau energy loss portion by the inelastic scattering on nuclei in water are given for wide energy range up to $10^9$ GeV.
We propose a self-interacting inelastic dark matter (DM) scenario as a possible origin of the recently reported excess of electron recoil events by the XENON1T experiment. Two quasi-degenerate Majorana fermion DM interact within themselves via a light hidden sector massive gauge boson and with the standard model particles via gauge kinetic mixing. We also consider an additional long-lived singlet scalar which helps in realising correct dark matter relic abundance via a hybrid setup comprising of both freeze-in and freeze-out mechanisms. While being consistent with the required DM phenomenology…
Detection of electron recoils by dark matter (DM) may reveal the structure of the dark sector. We consider a scenario where a heavier DM particle inelastically scatters off an electron and is converted into a lighter DM particle. A small mass difference between the two DM particles is transferred into electron recoil energy. We investigate the DM-electron interaction mediated by a massive dark photon and evaluate the inelastic DM scattering rate, taking account of the atomic structure. It is found that the scattering rate is significantly enhanced because of the small mass splitting, which all…
The production of charged hadrons, in muon Deep inelastic scattering (DIS), at light and heavy target is presented. The particles produced by the interaction with Xenon (Xe) is compared with that produced by the interaction with Deuteron (D), to obtain information on cascading process, forward-backward productions, and the rapidity distribution in different bins of the invariant mass of the interacting system W.
Motivated by the growing evidence for lepton flavour universality violation after the first results from Fermilab's muon $(g-2)$ measurement, we revisit one of the most widely studied anomaly free extensions of the standard model namely, gauged $L_μ-L_τ$ model, known to be providing a natural explanation for muon $(g-2)$. We also incorporate the presence of dark matter (DM) in this model in order to explain the recently reported electron recoil excess by the XENON1T collaboration. We show that the same neutral gauge boson responsible for generating the required muon $(g-2)$ can also mediate in…
It is shown that the combination of the structure functions $F_2$ predicted by the CKMT model at low and moderate values of $Q^2$ and MRS99 parton distribution functions at high $Q^2$ gives a good description of the data over complete measured region of $x$ and $Q^2$. Using these structure functions the main characteristics of the muon-nucleus inelastic scattering are calculated. Nuclear effects and contributions of the neutral current and $γ- Z$ interference are taken into account.
A description and a detailed comparison of the Mo and Tsai and the Dubna radiative correction schemes is presented. Numerical comparisons made in the kinematical region of the NMC high energy deep inelastic electroproduction experiment are discussed. An overall agreement between the two approaches in the region of low $x$ and high $y$, where the radiative corrections are largest, is better than 2$\%$.
The energy spectra of hadron cascade showers produced by the cosmic ray muons travelling through water as well as the muon energy spectra underwater at the depth up to 4 km are calculated with two models of muon inelastic scattering on nuclei, the recent hybrid model (two-component, 2C) and the well-known generalized ector-meson-dominance model for the comparison. The 2C model involves photonuclear interactions at low and moderate virtualities as well as the hard scattering including the weak neutral current processes. For the muon scattering off nuclei substantial uclear effects, shadowing, n…
Improvement of the radiative correction scheme for the deep inelastic scattering on the heavy targets is discussed. Arguments that the contribution of the radiative tail from the elastic peak should be calculated without use of the Born approximation in the case of the heavy target scattering are presented. The semianalytical approach based on the classical solution of the old bremsstrahlung problem is shortly described. The numerical results for the new correction factor are presented for the scattering on tin and lead.
In this paper, we study charged current deep inelastic scattering of muon neutrinos off ^{56}Fe nuclei using Hirai, Kumano and Saito model. The LHA Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) - CT10 are used to describe the partonic content of hadrons. Modification of PDFs inside the nuclei is done using EPPS16 parameterization at next-to-leading order. Target mass correction has also been incorporated in the calculations. We calculate the structure functions (F_{2}(x,Q^{2}) and xF_{3}(x,Q^{2})), the ratios (R_{2}(x,Q^{2}) = \frac{F^{^{56}Fe}_{2}}{F^{Nucleon}_{2}} and R_{3}(x,Q^{2}) = \frac{F^{^{56}F…
The recent measurement of muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment (muon $g-2$) suggests that there might exist new physics that dominantly interacts with muons. The observed gamma-ray excess from Fermi-LAT indicates that dark matter annihilates into a specific charged fermions. We propose a successful model simultaneously to explain the Fermi-LAT GeV gamma-ray excess and sizable muon $g-2$ with a modular $A_4$ symmetry. Due to nature of this symmetry, our DM only interacts with pairs of muon and we explain sizable muon $g-2$ without suffering from constraints of any lepton flavor violations. We …
We study the excesses of $R(D^{(*)})$ and muon $g-2$ in the framework of a two-Higgs-doublet model with top quark flavor-changing neutral-current (FCNC) couplings. Considering the relevant theoretical and experimental constraints, we find that the $R(D^{(*)})$ and muon $g-2$ excesses can be simultaneously explained in a parameter space allowed by the constraints. In such a parameter space the pseudoscalar ($A$) has a mass between 20 GeV and 150 GeV so that it can be produced from the top quark FCNC decay $t\to A c$. Focusing on its dominant decay $A\to τ\barτ$, we perform a detailed simulation…
We have measured the spin-dependent structure function $g_1^p$ in inclusive deep-inelastic scattering of polarized muons off polarized protons, in the kinematic range $0.003 < x < 0.7$ and $1 GeV^2 < Q^2 < 60 GeV^2$. A next-to-leading order QCD analysis is used to evolve the measured $g_1^p(x,Q^2)$ to a fixed $Q^2_0$. The first moment of $g_1^p$ at $Q^2_0 = 10 GeV^2$ is $Γ^p = 0.136\pm 0.013(stat.) \pm 0.009(syst.)\pm 0.005(evol.)$. This result is below the prediction of the Ellis-Jaffe sum rule by more than two standard deviations. The singlet axial charge $a_0$ is found to be $0.28 \pm 0.16$…
A very economic scenario with just three extra scalar fields beyond the Standard Model is invoked to explain the muon anomalous magnetic moment, the requisite relic abundance of dark matter as well as the Xenon-1T excess through the inelastic down-scattering of the dark scalar.
In this letter we discuss a certain class of Hidden Valley models where the dynamics in the hidden sector are close to a strongly coupled conformal fixed point. We show that these models can explain the excess in cosmic ray muon events with high muon multiplicities that has been reported from cosmic ray studies with the ALEPH and DELPHI detectors. We further point out that these models can also at least partially account for the excess in multi-muon events that was found by the CDF experiment. Finally we discuss possible signatures of these models at the LHC.
In a Dark left-right gauge model, the neutral component of right-handed lepton doublet is odd under generalized R-parity and thus the lightest one serves as the dark matter (DM) candidate. The coannihilation of the dark matter with the singly charged Higgs triplet produces the correct relic abundance. We explain AMS-02 positron excess by the annihilation of 800 GeV dark matter into $μ^+μ^-γ$, through a t-channel exchange of the additional charged triplet Higgs boson. The DM is leptophilic which is useful for explaining the non-observation of any antiproton excess which would generically be exp…
It has been recently shown that puzzling excess events observed by the LSND and MiniBooNE neutrino experiments could be interpreted as a signal from the radiative decay of a heavy sterile neutrino ($ν_h$) of the mass from 40 to 80 MeV, with a muonic mixing strength $\mix \simeq 10^{-3} - 10^{-2}$, and the lifetime $10^{-11} < τ_h < 10^{-9}$ s. We discuss bounds on $\mix$ obtained from the recent precision measurements with muons and show that they are consistent with the above limits. If the $ν_h$ exists its admixture in the ordinary muon or kaon decay would result in the decay chain $\muhd$ o…
The Auger collaboration has observed the number of muons which is higher than its prediction by existing hadronic interaction models. We explain this excess of muons by using Lorentz invariance violation (LIV) in photon sector. As an outcome of Lorentz invariance violation, the dispersion relation of photon gets modified, which we use for the calculation of $π^0$ decay width. In the Auger data of primary energy $10^{9.8}<E(\mbox{GeV})<10^{10.2}$, we find that the neutral pion decay width is suppressed in comparison to its standard model (SM) counterpart. As a result, we get a large number of m…
We extended the standard model with a fourth generation of fermions to explain the discrepancy in the muon magnetic moment and to describe the positron excess observed by AMS-02 experiment. We introduce a gauged $SU(2)_{HV}$ horizontal symmetry between the muon and the 4th generation lepton families and identified the 4th generation right-handed neutrino as the dark matter with mass $\sim 700$ GeV. The dark matter annihilates through $SU(2)_{HV}$ gauge boson into final states $(μ^+ μ^-)$ and $(ν^c_μ~ν_μ)$. The $SU(2)_{HV}$ gauge boson with mass $\sim 1.4$ TeV gives the required contribution to…
We study hidden sector and long-lived particles at past (CHARM and NuCal), present (NA62 and SeaQuest/DarkQuest), and future (LongQuest) experiments that are at the high-energy frontier of the intensity frontier. We focus on exploring the minimal vector portal and variere-lifetime particles (VLP). VLP models have mostly been devised to explain experimental anomalies while avoiding existing constraints, and we demonstrate that proton fixed-target experiments provide one of the most powerful probes for the sub-GeV to few GeV mass range of the VLP models, using inelastic dark matter (iDM) as an e…
We studied an extension of the standard model with a fourth generation of fermions to explain the discrepancy in the muon $(g-2)$ and explain the positron excess seen in the AMS-02 experiment. We introduce a gauged $SU(2)_{HV}$ horizontal symmetry between the muon and the 4th generation lepton families. The 4th generation right-handed neutrino is identified as the dark matter with mass $\sim 700$ GeV. The dark matter annihilates only to $(μ^+ μ^-)$ and $(ν^c_μ~ν_μ)$ states via $SU(2)_{HV}$ gauge boson. The $SU(2)_{HV}$ gauge boson with mass $\sim 1.4$ TeV gives an adequate contribution to the …
We reevaluate electron-positron pair production from electromagnetic interactions of muons in transit through materials. Our approach, through the use of structure functions for inelastic and elastic scattering and including hadronic recoil, make the formalism useful for tau pair production at high energies. Our results for electron-positron pair production agree well with prior evaluations. Tau pair production, has a significant contribution from inelastic scattering in addition to the usual coherent scattering with the nucleus and scattering with atomic electrons.
The supersymmetric model is one of the most attractive extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics. In light of the most recently reported anomaly of the muon g-2 measurement by the FermiLab E989 experiment, and the excesses of gamma rays at the Galactic center observed by Fermi-LAT space telescope, as well as the antiproton excess observed by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, we propose to account for all these anomalies or excesses in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Considering various experimental constraints including the Higgs mass, B-physics, collider data, dar…
A two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) is one of the minimal extensions of the Standard Model (SM), and it is well-known that the general setup predicts the flavor-violating phenomena, mediated by neutral Higgs interactions. Recently the CMS collaboration has reported an excess of the lepton-flavor-violating Higgs decay in $h \rightarrow μτ$ channel with a significance of 2.5 $ σ$. We investigate the CMS excess in a general 2HDM with tree-level Flavor Changing Neutral Currents (FCNCs), and discuss its impact on the other physical observations. Especially, we see that the FCNCs relevant to the excess…
We discuss shadowing corrections to the structure function $F_2$ in neutrino deep-inelastic scattering on heavy nuclear targets. In particular, we examine the role played by shadowing in the comparison of the structure functions $F_2$ measured in neutrino and muon deep inelastic scattering. The importance of shadowing corrections in the determination of the strange quark distributions is explained.
The composite model is constructed to describe inelastic high-energy scattering of muons and taus in standard rock. It involves photonuclear interactions at low $Q^2$ as well as moderate $Q^2$ processes and the deep inelastic scattering (DIS). In the DIS region the neutral current contribution is taken into consideration. Approximation formulas both for the muons and tau energy loss in standard rock are presented for wide energy range.
The identity of dark matter is being sought with increasingly sensitive and voluminous underground detectors. Recently the XENON1T collaboration reported excess electronic recoil events, with most of these having recoil energies around $1-30$ keV. We show that a straightforward model of inelastic dark matter produced via early universe thermal freeze-out annihilation can account for the XENON1T excess. Remarkably, this dark matter model consists of a few simple elements: sub-GeV mass Dirac fermion dark matter coupled to a lighter dark photon kinetically mixed with the Standard Model photon. A …
We have built a lepton-specific next-to-minimal two-Higgs-doublet-portal vector dark matter model. The vector dark matter in the hidden sector does not directly couple to the visible sector, but instead annihilates into the hidden Higgs bosons which decay through a small coupling into the CP-odd Higgs bosons. In this model, the Galactic center gamma-ray excess is mainly due to the 2-step cascade annihilation with $τ$'s in the final state. The obtained mass of the CP-odd Higgs $A$ in the Galactic center excess fit can explain the muon $g-2$ anomaly at the 2$σ$ level without violating the string…
We consider an extension of the lepto-specific 2HDM with an extra singlet $S$ as a dark matter candidate. Taking into account theoretical and experimental constraints, we investigate the possibility to address both the $γ$-ray excess detected at the Galactic centre and the discrepancy between the Standard Model prediction and experimental results of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Our analyses reveal that the $SS \to τ^+ τ^-$ and $SS \to b \bar b$ channels reproduce the Galactic centre excess, with an emerging dark matter candidate which complies with the bounds from direct detectio…
The Galactic center gamma-ray excess (GCE) is a long-standing unsolved problem. One of candidate solutions, the dark matter (DM) annihilation, has been recently tested with other astrophysical observations, such as AMS-02 electron-positron spectra, Fermi Dwarf spheroidal galaxies gamma-ray data, and so on. By assuming that the DM particles annihilate purely into a normal charged fermion pair, Di Mauro and Winkle (2021) claimed that only a muon-pair is compatible with the null detection of all the corresponding astrophysical measurements and can explain GCE simultaneously. On the other hand, a …
A recent update from MiniBooNE has strengthened the observed $4.8σ$ excess of $e$-like events. Motivated by this and other notable deviations from standard model predictions, such as the muon $(g-2)$, we propose a solution to low energy anomalies through a dark neutrino sector. The model is renormalizable and can also explain light neutrino masses with an anomaly-free and dark $U(1)^\prime$ gauge symmetry broken at the GeV scale. Large kinetic mixing leads to s-channel production of heavy neutral leptons at $e^+e^-$ colliders, where we point out and explain a $\gtrsim 2σ$ excess observed in th…
We consider implications of the diphoton excess recently observed at the LHC on the anomalous magnetic dipole moment of the muon $(g-2)_μ= 2 a_μ$, hypothesizing that the possible 750 GeV resonance is a (pseudo)scalar particle. The (pseudo)scalar-$γ$-$γ$ interaction implied by the diphoton events might generically contribute to $a_μ$ via 2-loop Barr-Zee type diagrams in a broad class of models. If the scalar is an $SU(2)_L$ singlet, the new contribution to $a_μ$ is much smaller than the current anomaly, $Δa_μ\equiv a_μ^{\rm exp}-a_μ^{\rm SM} \approx (30 \pm 10) \times 10^{-10}$, since the scala…
We discuss a possibility to explain the 750 GeV diphoton excess observed at the LHC in a three-loop neutrino mass model which has a similar structure to the model by Krauss, Nasri and Trodden. Tiny neutrino masses are naturally generated by the loop effect of new particles with their couplings and masses to be of order 0.1-1 and TeV, respectively. The lightest right-handed neutrino, which runs in the three-loop diagram, can be a dark matter candidate. In addition, the deviation in the measured value of the muon anomalous magnetic moment from its prediction in the standard model can be compensa…
The Lepton Portal Dark Matter model, in which dark matter states only coupling to the charged leptons, can explain the excess of the muon anomalous magnetic moment measured by the Muon $g - 2$ experiment. In this paper, we demonstrate that real, charge-neutral scalar dark matter with a large number of internal degrees of freedom and a mass approximately degenerate with the charged fermionic mediator state can accommodate the $(g - 2)_μ$ excess. The model remains consistent with the dark matter relic abundance, direct detection, and indirect detection constraints. The dark matter and its charge…
We provide a novel explanation to the muon $g-2$ excess with new physics contributions at the two-loop level. In this scenario, light millicharged particles are introduced to modify the photon vacuum polarization that contributes to muon $g-2$ at one additional loop. The muon $g-2$ excess can be explained with the millicharged particle mass $m_χ$ around 10 MeV and the product of the multiplicity factor and millicharge squared of $N_χ\varepsilon^2 \sim 10^{-3}$. The minimal model faces severe constraints from direct searches at fixed-target experiments and astrophysical observables. However, if…
We study a generic model in which the dark sector is composed of a Majorana dark matter $χ_1$, its excited state $χ_2$, both at the electroweak scale, and a light dark photon $Z'$ with $m_{Z'} \sim 10^{-4}$ eV. The light $Z'$ enhances the self-scattering elastic cross section $χ_1 χ_1 \to χ_1 χ_1$ enough to solve the small scale problems in the $N$-body simulations with the cold dark matter. The dark matter communicates with the SM via kinetic mixing parameterized by $ε$. The inelastic scattering process $χ_1 χ_1 \to χ_2 χ_2$ followed by the prompt decay $χ_2 \to χ_1 Z'$ generates energetic $Z…
Experimental observations of extensive air showers have revealed an excess of the muon content with respect to their theoretical simulations, which we refer to as the muon puzzle. This muon puzzle hampers a precise determination of the ultra-high-energy cosmic ray mass composition. We investigate the potential of producing states of dense quark-gluon matter (which we call fireballs) to resolve the muon puzzle as quantified with data from the Pierre Auger Observatory on the depth of the shower maximum and the number of muons at ground. Adopting a phenomenological fireball model, we find that th…
We use new scaling variables x_w and xi_w, and add low Q2 modifications to GRV94 and GRV98 leading order parton distribution functions such that they can be used to model electron, muon and neutrino inelastic scattering cross sections (and also photoproduction) at both very low and high energies
We consider a novel scenario of dark photon-mediated inelastic dark matter to explain the white dwarf cooling excess suggested by its luminosity function, and the excess in electron recoil events at XENON1T. In the Sun, the dark photon $A'$ is produced mainly via thermal processes, and the heavier dark matter $χ_2$ is produced by the scattering of halo dark matter $χ_1$ with electrons. The XENON1T signal arises primarily by solar $A'$ scattering, and $A'$ emission by white dwarfs accommodates the extra cooling while maintaining consistency with other stellar cooling observations. A tritium com…
It is shown that due to the smallness of the inelastic cross-section of the $dμ$-atoms scattering in the crystal lattice at sufficiently low temperatures the $ddμ$-mesomolecules formation from the upper state of the hyperfine structure $dμ(F=3/2)$ starts earlier than the mesoatoms thermolization. It explains an approximate constancy of the $ddμ$-mesomolecule formation rate in solid deuterium.
Indications of a discrepancy between simulations and data on the number of muons in cosmic ray showers exist over a large span of energies. We focus on the excess of multi-muon bundles observed by the DELPHI detector at LEP and on the excess in the muon number in general reported by the Pierre Auger Observatory. Even though the primary CR energies relevant for these experiments differ by orders of magnitude, we can find a single mechanism which can simultaneously increase predicted muon counts for both, while not violating constraints from accelerators or from the longitudinal shower developme…
We propose a simple unified description of two recent precision measurements which suggest new physics beyond the Standard Model of particle interactions, i.e. the deviation of $\sin^2 θ_W$ in deep inelastic neutrino-nucleon scattering and that of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Our proposal is also consistent with a third precision measurement, i.e. that of parity nonconservation in atomic Cesium, which agrees with the Standard Model.
A study of mu-tau conversion via the deep inelastic scattering process μN -> τX, with N a nucleon, is performed taking into account the effects from both spin-0 and spin-1 unparticles with lepton flavor violating (LFV) couplings. This process has attracted attention in the past as it may be at the reach of a future neutrino or muon factory. For the model parameters, we use the most recent constraints on the unparticle LFV couplings from the experimental limits on the muon anomalous magnetic moment and the LFV decay τ-> 3μ, whereas for the unparticle scale Λ_U and scale dimension d_U we use the…
The growing interest in the interactions between dark matter particles and electrons has received a further boost by the observation of an excess in electron recoil events in the XENON1T experiment. Of particular interest are dark matter models in which the scattering process is inelastic, such that the ground state can upscatter into an excited state. The subsequent exothermic downscattering of such excited states on electrons can lead to observable signals in direct detection experiments and gives a good fit to the XENON1T excess. In this work, we study terrestrial upscattering, i.e. inelast…
For any inelastic process $v_{\ell} + I \to \ell^- + F$ with $m_{\ell} = 0$, the cross section at $θ_{\ell} = 0$ is given by Adler's PCAC theorem. Inclusion of the lepton mass has a dynamical effect (``PCAC-screening'') caused by interference of spin-zero ($π^+$) and spin-one exchanges. This effect may be relevant to the forward suppression reported in recent experiments.
Dark matter searches in gamma ray final states often make use of the fact that photons can be produced from final state muons. Modern Monte Carlo generators and DM codes include the effects of final state radiation from muons produced in the dark matter annihilation process itself, but neglect the O(1%) radiative correction that arises from the subsequent muon decay. After implementing this correction we demonstrate the effect that it can have on dark matter phenomenology by considering the case of dark matter annihilation to four muons via scalar mediator production. We first show that the AM…
We argue that ultrahigh energy cosmic ray collisions in the Earth atmosphere can probe the strange quark density of the nucleon. These collisions have center-of-mass energies \agt 10^{4.6} A GeV, where A \geq 14 is the nuclear baryon number. We hypothesize the formation of a deconfined thermal fireball which undergoes a sudden hadronization. At production the fireball has a very high matter density and consists of gluons and two flavors of light quarks (u,d). Because the fireball is formed in the baryon-rich projectile fragmentation region, the high baryochemical potential damps the production…
We examine the $h\to μτ$ and muon g-2 in the exact alignment limit of two-Higgs-doublet model. In this case, the couplings of the SM-like Higgs to the SM particles are the same as the Higgs couplings in the SM at the tree level, and the tree-level lepton-flavor-violating coupling $hμτ$ is absent. We assume the lepton-flavor-violating $μτ$ excess observed by CMS to be respectively from the other neutral Higgses, $H$ and $A$, which almost degenerates with the SM-like Higgs at the 125 GeV. After imposing the relevant theoretical constraints and experimental constraints from the precision electrow…
Two of the most widely studied extensions of the Standard Model (SM) are $a)$ the addition of a new $U(1)$ symmetry to its existing gauge groups, and $b)$ the expansion of its scalar sector to incorporate a second Higgs doublet. We show that when combined, they allow us to understand the electron-like event excess seen in the MiniBooNE (MB) experiment as well as account for the observed anomalous values of the muon magnetic moment. A light $Z'$ associated with an additional $U(1)$ coupled to baryons and to the dark sector, with flavor non-universal couplings to leptons, in conjunction with a s…
Recently, we have witnessed two hints of physics beyond the standard model: A 3.3$σ$ local excess ($M_{A_0} = 52$ GeV) in the search for $H_0\to A_0 A_0\to b\bar{b}μ^{+}μ^{-}$ and a 4.2$σ$ deviation from the SM prediction in the $(g-2)_μ$ measurement. The first excess was found by the ATLAS Collaboration using 139 fb$^{-1}$ data at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. The second deviation is a combination of the results from the Brookhaven E821 and the recently reported Fermilab E989 experiment. We attempt to explain these deviations in terms of a renormalizable simplified dark matter model. Inspired by the nul…
