There are different notions of homology and cohomology that can be defined for a group with an action of another group by group automorphisms. In this paper we address three natural questions that arise in this context. Namely, the relation of these notions with the usual (co)homology of a semidirect product, the interpretation of the first homology group as some kind of abelianization and the classification of (invariant) group extensions.

Galois descent of additive invariants

Making use of the recent theory of noncommutative motives, we prove that every additive invariant satisfies Galois descent. Examples include mixed complexes, Hochschild homology, cyclic homology, periodic cyclic homology, negative cyclic homology, connective algebraic K-theory, mod-l algebraic K-theory, nonconnective algebraic K-theory, homotopy K-theory, topological Hochschild homology, and topological cyclic homology.

Higher Hochschild homology is not a stable invariant

Higher Hochschild homology is the analog of the homology of spaces, where the context for the coefficients -- which usually is that of abelian groups -- is that of commutative algebras. Two spaces that are equivalent after a suspension have the same homology. We show that this is not the case for higher Hochschild homology, providing a counterexample to a behavior so far observed in stable homotopy theory.

Trivial Cocycles and Invariants of Homology 3-Spheres

We study the relationship between trivial cocycles on the Torelli group and invariants of oriented integral homology 3-spheres. We give ncecessary and sufficient conditions for a function defined on the union of the Torelli groups to be an invariant of homology spheres. We apply this study to give a new purely algebraic construction of the Casson invariant and prove in this setting its surgery properties. As a by-product we get a new 2-torsion cohomology class in the second integral cohomology of the Torelli group.

Local cyclic homology for nonarchimedean Banach algebras

Let V be a complete discrete valuation ring with uniformiser p. We introduce an invariant of Banach V-algebras called local cyclic homology. This invariant is related to analytic cyclic homology for complete, bornologically torsionfree V-algebras. It is shown that local cyclic homology only depends on the reduction mod p of a Banach V-algebra and that it is homotopy invariant, matricially stable, and excisive.

On the homology of almost Calabi-Yau algebras associated to SU(3) modular invariants

We compute the Hochschild homology and cohomology, and cyclic homology, of almost Calabi-Yau algebras for SU(3) ADE graphs. These almost Calabi-Yau algebras are a higher rank analogue of the pre-projective algebras for Dynkin diagrams, which are SU(2)-related constructions. The Hochschild (co)homology and cyclic homology of A can be regarded as invariants for the braided subfactors associated to the SU(3) modular invariants.

Invariant Cyclic Homology

We define a noncommutative analogue of invariant de Rham cohomology. More precisely, for a triple $(A,\mathcal{H},M)$ consisting of a Hopf algebra $\mathcal{H}$, an $\mathcal{H}$-comodule algebra $A$, an $\mathcal{H}$-module $M$, and a compatible grouplike element $σ$ in $\mathcal{H}$, we define the cyclic module of invariant chains on $A$ with coefficients in $M$ and call its cyclic homology the invariant cyclic homology of $A$ with coefficients in $M$. Twisted Hochschild homology of quantum flag manifolds: 2-cycles from invariant projections

We study the twisted Hochschild homology of quantum full flag manifolds, with the twist being the modular automorphism of the Haar state. We show that non-trivial 2-cycles can be constructed from appropriate invariant projections. The main result is that $HH_2^θ(\mathbb{C}_q[G / T])$ is infinite-dimensional when $\mathrm{rank}(\mathfrak{g}) > 1$. We also discuss the case of generalized flag manifolds and present the example of quantum Grassmannians.

Leibniz Homology of the Affine Indefinite Orthogonal Lie Algebra

In this paper, we compute the Leibniz (co)homology of the affine indefinite orthogonal Lie algebra. This calculation generalizes a result \cite[corollary 4.5]{JL} obtained by Jerry Lodder. We construct several indefinite orthogonal invariants in terms of balanced tensors and provide the Leibniz homology in terms of these invariants.
