We explore a class of models which can provide a common origin for the recently observed evidence for lepton flavor universality violation in $b \to s l^+ l^- $ decays, the dark matter (DM) problem and the long-standing muon $(g-2)$ anomaly. In particular, both anomalies in the $B$ meson decays and the muon $(g-2)$ can be explained by the additional one-loop diagrams with DM candidates. We first classify several simple models according to the new fields' quantum numbers. We then focus on a specific promising model and perform a detailed study of both DM and flavor physics. A random scan over the relevant parameter space reveals that there is indeed a large parameter space which can explain the three new physics phenomena simultaneously, while satisfying all other flavor and DM constraints. Finally, we discuss some of the possible new physics signatures at the Large Hadron Collider.
Significant deviations from Standard Model (SM) predictions have been observed in $ b \to s μ^+ μ^-$ decays and in the muon $g-2$. Scalar leptoquark extensions of the SM are known to be able to address these anomalies, but generically give rise to lepton flavor violation (LFV) or even proton decay. We propose new muon flavored gauge symmetries as a guiding principle for leptoquark models that preserve the global symmetries of the SM and explain the non-observation of LFV. A minimal model is shown to easily accommodate the anomalies without encountering other experimental constraints. This talk…
We investigate the iso-doublet vector leptoquark $V_2$ as a solution to the $B$ anomalies $R_{K, K^*}$ and $R_{D,D^*}$, as well as explaining the muon and electron anomalous magnetic moments, and the very recent $W$-mass anomaly.
We show that a single vector leptoquark can explain both the muon $g-2$ anomaly recently measured by the Muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab, and the various $B$ decay anomalies, including the $R_{D^{(*)}}$ and $R_{K^{(*)}}$ anomalies which have been recently reported by the LHCb experiment. In order to provide sizeable positive new physics contributions to the muon $g-2$, we assume that the vector leptoquark particle couples to both left-handed and right-handed fermions with equal strength. Our model is found to satisfy the experimental constraints from the large hadron collider.
Motivated by the result of the Muon g-2 experiment and the long-standing anomalies in semileptonic $B$ meson decays, we systematically build a class of minimal models that can address both experimental results thanks to the contributions of a set of new fields that include a thermal Dark Matter candidate.
The current experimental values of anomalous magnetic moments of muon and electron deviate from the Standard Model predictions by few standard deviations, which might be a hint of new physics. The sizes and signs of these deviations are different and opposite between the electron and muon, which makes it difficult to explain both of these anomalies in a consistent model without introducing large flavour-violating effects. It is shown that they can be simultaneously explained in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) by arranging the sizes of bino-slepton and chargino-sneutrino contri…
We propose a leptoquark model simultaneously to explain anomalies of muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment and $b\to s μ\barμ$ in light of experimental reports very recently. Here, we satisfy several stringent constraints such as $μ\to eγ$ and meson mixings. In addition, we find these leptoquarks also play an role in generating tiny neutrino masses at one-loop level without introducing any additional symmetries. We have numerical analysis and show how degrees our parameter space is restricted.
Significant deviations from the Standard Model are observed in semileptonic charged and neutral-current B-decays, the muon magnetic moment, and the extraction of the Cabibbo angle. We propose that these deviations point towards a coherent pattern of New Physics effects induced by two scalar mediators, a leptoquark $S_1$ and a charged singlet $ϕ^+$. While $S_1$ can provide solutions to charged-current $B$-decays and the muon magnetic moment, and $ϕ^+$ can accommodate the Cabibbo-angle anomaly independently, their one-loop level synergy can also address neutral-current $B$-decays. This framework…
We revisit a class of Z' explanations of the anomalies found by the LHCb collaboration in $B$ decays, and show that the scenario is tightly constrained by a combination of constraints: (i) LHC searches for di-muon resonances, (ii) pertubativity of the Z' couplings; (iii) the $B_s$ mass difference, and (iv) and electro-weak precision data. Solutions are found by suppressing the Z' coupling to electrons and to light quarks and/or by allowing for a Z' decay width into dark matter. We also present a simplified framework where a TeV-scale Z' gauge boson that couples to standard leptons as well as t…
The lepton sector of the Standard Model is at present haunted by several intriguing anomalies, including an emerging pattern of deviations in $b \to s \ell \ell$ processes, with hints of lepton flavor universality violation, and a discrepancy in the muon anomalous magnetic moment. More importantly, it cannot explain neutrino oscillation data, which necessarily imply the existence of non-zero neutrino masses and lepton mixings. We propose a model that accommodates all the aforecited anomalies, induces neutrino masses and provides a testable dark matter candidate. This is achieved by introducing…
We analyze the implications of an extended 2HDM theory in quark masses and mixings, electroweak precision tests, charged lepton flavor violating (CLFV) decays, neutrino trident production, B meson, $g-2$ muon and W anomalies. In the extended 2HDM theory considered in this work, the SM gauge symmetry is enlarged by the local $U(1)^{\prime}$ symmetry, whereas its scalar and fermion sectors are augmented by the inclusion of a gauge singlet scalar and vectorlike fermions, respectively. Within the framework of this model, we determine the allowed ranges of the $Z^{\prime}$ gauge boson mass consiste…
Combining the multi-lepton searches at the LHC, we study the possibilities of accommodating the new data of muon and electron $g-2$ anomalies in the lepton-specific inert two-Higgs-doublet model. We take the heavy CP-even Higgs as the 125 GeV Higgs, and find the muon and electron $g-2$ anomalies can be explained simultaneously in the region of 5 GeV $< m_h<60$ GeV, 200 GeV $<m_A< 620$ GeV, 190 GeV $<m_{H^\pm}< 620$ GeV for appropriate Yukawa couplings between leptons and inert Higgs. Meanwhile, the model can give a better fit to the data of lepton universality in $τ$ decays than the SM. Furthe…
The recent precise measurement of the $W$-mass by the CDF II collaboration is indicative of new physics beyond the Standard Model. On the other hand, a resolution of the longstanding muon $g-2$ anomaly also calls for additional dynamics. In this work, we accommodate the two aforementioned anomalies in an extension of the minimal Type-II seesaw model. That is, the minimal Type-II model is augmented with an additional doubly charged scalar and vector leptons. While a chirality-flip of the vector leptons can predict the observed value of muon $g-2$, the value of the recently reported $W$-mass can…
Recently reported anomalies in various $B$ meson decays and also in the anomalous magnetic moment of muon $(g-2)_μ$ motivate us to consider a particular extension of the standard model incorporating new interactions in lepton and quark sectors simultaneously. Our minimal choice would be leptoquark. In particular, we take vector leptoquark ($U_1$) and comprehensively study all related observables including ${(g-2)_μ},\ R_{K^{(*)}},\ R_{D^{(*)}}$, $B \to (K) \ell \ell' $ where $\ell\ell'$ are various combinations of $μ$ and $τ$, and also lepton flavor violation in the $τ$ decays. We find that a …
There are now two single measurements of precision observables that have major anomalies in the Standard Model: the recent CDF measurement of the $W$ mass shows a $7σ$ deviation and the Muon $g-2$ experiment at FNAL confirmed a long-standing anomaly, implying a $4.2 σ$ deviation. Doubts regarding new physics interpretations of these anomalies could stem from uncertainties in the common hadronic contributions. We demonstrate that these two anomalies pull the hadronic contributions in opposite directions by performing electroweak fits in which the hadronic contribution was allowed to float. The …
In addition to the long-standing anomalies seen in the muon $g-2$, $R_{K^{(*)}}$, and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ observables by various independent experiments, the CDF Collaboration has found another significant one in the $W$-boson mass. These anomalies might be intertwined at a fundamental level and have a single new-physics explanation. In this paper, we present a simultaneous solution to these anomalies with two scalar leptoquarks of roughly equal mass -- one weak-singlet $S_1$ and the other a weak-triplet $S_3$ -- which mix through a Higgs portal. The solution has only a few new couplings and TeV-sca…
We propose simple models with a flavor-dependent global $U(1)_\ell$ and a discrete $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetries to explain the anomalies in the measured anomalous magnetic dipole moments of muon and electron, $(g-2)_{μ,e}$, while simultaneously accommodating a dark matter candidate. These new symmetries are introduced not only to avoid the dangerous lepton flavor-violating decays of charged leptons, but also to ensure the stability of the dark matter. Our models can realize the opposite-sign contributions to the muon and electron $g-2$ via one-loop diagrams involving new vector-like leptons. Unde…
We propose a model to explain several muon-related experimental anomalies and the abundance of dark matter. We introduce an vector-like exotic lepton that form an iso-doublet and three right-handed Majorana fermions as an iso-singlet. A real/complex scalar field is added as a dark matter candidate. We impose a global $U(1)_ μ$ symmetry under which fields associated with the SM muon are charged. To stabilize the dark matter, we impose a $Z_2$ (or $Z_3$) symmetry under which the exotic lepton doublet and the real (or complex) scalar field are charged. We find that the model can simultaneously ex…
The muon $(g-2)_μ$ and $b\to s \bar μμ$ induced $B$ anomalies as hints of new physics beyond the standard model (SM) have attracted much attention. These two anomalies indicate that there may exist new interaction specifically related to muon. A lot of theoretical ideas have been proposed to explain these anomalies. Gauged flavor specific $U(1)_{B_q-L_μ}$ is among the promising ones. The new gauge boson $Z'$ from $U(1)_{B_q-L_μ}$ interacts with muon and provides necessary ingredient to solve the $(g-2)_μ$ anomaly. The $Z'$-quark coupling can generate flavor changing interactions after diagonal…
The Standard Model (SM) is amended by one generation of quarks and leptons which are vector-like (VL) under the SM gauge group but chiral with respect to a new $\mathrm{U}(1)_{3-4}$ gauge symmetry. We show that this model can simultaneously explain the deviation of the muon $g-2$ as well as the observed anomalies in $b\rightarrow sμ^+μ^-$ transitions without conflicting with the data on Higgs decays, lepton flavor violation, or $B_s-\bar{B}_s$ mixing. The model is string theory motivated and GUT compatible, i.e. UV complete, and fits the data predicting VL quarks, leptons and a massive $Z'$ at…
We show that, within the framework of $SU(5)$ Grand Unified Theories (GUTs), multiple vector-like families at the GUT scale which transform under a gauged $U(1)'$ (under which the three chiral families are neutral) can result in a single vector-like family at low energies which can induce non-universal and flavourful $Z'$ couplings, which can account for the B physics anomalies in $R_{K^{(*)}}$. In such theories, we show that the same muon couplings which explain $R_{K^{(*)}}$ also correct the Yukawa relation $Y_e=Y_d^T$ in the muon sector without the need for higher Higgs representations. To …
Extant anomalies in several semileptonic $B$-meson decays argue for physics beyond the Standard Model. Measurements of both neutral-current decays (such as $R_K$, $R_{K^*}$ and $B_s\rightarrow ϕμμ$) as well as charged-current ones- $R(D)$ and $R(D^*)$ -provide strong hints for the violation of lepton flavor universality. Recent studies have shown that a class of effective field theory (EFT) models may explain such anomalies in terms of only a few parameters which can be determined phenomenologically. In this literature, we examine such resolutions in the context of the requisite $(\bar{s}$ $b$…
We present a minimal extension of the Standard Model that can simultaneously account for the anomalies in semi-leptonic B meson decays and the muon g-2, give large CP violation in charm decays (up to the value recently measured by LHCb), and provide thermal-relic dark matter, while evading all constraints set by other flavour observables, LHC searches, and dark matter experiments. This is achieved by introducing only four new fields: a vectorlike quark, a vectorlike lepton, and two scalar fields (a singlet and a doublet) that mix due to the electroweak symmetry breaking and provide the dark ma…
We consider simultaneous explanations of the electron and muon $g-2$ anomalies through a single $Z'$ of a $U(1)'$ extension to the Standard Model (SM). We first perform a model-independent analysis of the viable flavour-dependent $Z'$ couplings to leptons, which are subject to various strict experimental constraints. We show that only a narrow region of parameter space with an MeV-scale $Z'$ can account for the two anomalies. Following the conclusions of this analysis, we then explore the ability of different classes of $Z'$ models to realise these couplings, including the SM$+U(1)'$, the $N$-…
I introduce a model to explain the recent anomalies in the muon anomalous magnetic moment and the rare semi-leptonic $B$ meson decays. The Standard Model is extended by a $U(1)^\prime$ gauge symmetry and a complete fourth family fermions which are vector-like under the gauge symmetry. We found parameter points which can explain the anomalies consistently with the other observables. We then propose an interesting possibility to have signals with four muons or more from vector-like lepton pair production.
Since its inception, no decisive departure from the predictions of Standard Model (SM) has been reported. But recently various experiments have observed few hints of possible departure from SM predictions in lepton flavor universality observables such as $R_{K^{(*)}}$, $P_{5}^{'}$, muon (g-2), $R(D^{(*)})$ etc. Many of these observable where deviation from SM in the range of (2-4)$σ$ were observed are related to muon ($μ$) lepton. So these deviations may be some hint of a possible New Physics (NP) in the muon sector. In this work we extend the SM by introducing two SM singlet heavy charged lep…
We propose to jointly explain the electron/muon $g-2$ anomalies in the framework of anomaly mediated SUSY breaking (AMSB) scenario. Two Yukawa deflected AMSB models are proposed and discussed in depth: one with lepton-specific interactions and the other one with messenger-matter interactions. Both models are found to be able to jointly explain the anomalies at $2 σ$ level by naturally realizing the preferred parameter space with $μM_1,μM_2<0$ and very heavy left-handed smuon.
In the light of the recent result of the Muon g-2 experiment and the update on the test of lepton flavour universality $R_K$ published by the LHCb collaboration, we systematically build and discuss a set of models with minimal field content that can simultaneously give: (i) a thermal Dark Matter candidate; (ii) large loop contributions to $b\to s\ell\ell$ processes able to address $R_K$ and the other $B$ anomalies; (iii) a natural solution to the muon $g-2$ discrepancy through chirally-enhanced contributions.
The Standard Model (SM) is augmented with a $\mathrm{U}(1)_{B-3L_μ} $ gauge symmetry spontaneously broken above the TeV scale when an SM-singlet scalar condenses. Scalar leptoquarks $S_{1(3)} = (\overline{\mathbf{3}},\, \mathbf{1} (\mathbf{3}),\, ^1\!/_3)$ charged under $\mathrm{U}(1)_{B-3L_μ} $ mediate the intriguing effects observed in muon $(g-2)$, $R_{K^{(*)}}$ and $b \to s μ^+ μ^-$, while generically evading all other phenomenological constraints. The fermionic sector is minimally extended with three right-handed neutrinos, and a successful type-I seesaw mechanism is realized. Charged lep…
We show that the recently reported anomalies in $b\to sμ^+μ^-$ transitions, as well as the long-standing $g_μ-2$ discrepancy, can be addressed simultaneously by a new massive abelian gauge boson with loop-induced coupling to muons. Such a scenario typically leads to a stable dark matter candidate with a thermal relic density close to the observed value. Dark matter in our model couples dominantly to leptons, hence signals in direct detection experiments lie well below the current sensitivity. The LHC, in combination with indirect detection searches, can test this scenario through distinctive s…
We discuss a simple renormalisable, gauge invariant model with a fermiophobic $Z'$ boson: it has no couplings to the three Standard Model (SM) chiral families, but does couple to a fourth vector-like (VL) family. The SM Higgs couples to the fourth VL lepton, leading to an enhanced contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment $\left(g-2\right)_μ$. The latter contribution requires a non-vanishing coupling of $Z'$ to right-handed muons, which arises within this model due to mixing effects between the SM and VL fermions, along with $Z'$ couplings to the second generation SM lepton doublet an…
The anomalies recently found by the LHCb collaboration in $B$-meson decays seem to point towards the existence of new physics coupled non-universally to muons and electrons. We show that a beyond-the-Standard-Model dynamics with these features naturally arises in models with a warped extra-dimension that aim to solve the electroweak Hierarchy Problem. The attractiveness of our set-up is the fact that the dynamics responsible for generating the flavor anomalies is automatically present, being provided by the massive Kaluza--Klein excitations of the electroweak gauge bosons. The flavor anomalies…
The recent experimental results including $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$, $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$, $(g-2)_μ$ and $W$ mass show deviations from the standard model (SM) predictions, implying the clues of new physics (NP). In this work, we investigate the explanations of these anomalies in the $R$-parity violating minimal supersymmetric standard model (RPV-MSSM) extended with the inverse seesaw mechanism. The non-unitarity extent $η_{ee}$ and the loop corrections from the interaction $λ'\hat L \hat Q \hat D$ are utilized to raise the prediction of $W$ mass through muon decays. We also find that the interaction $λ'\ha…
A number of predictions were made in von Buddenbrock et al (2016 Eur. Phys. J. C 76, 10, 580) pertaining to the anomalous production of multiple leptons at the Large Hadron Collider. Discrepancies in multi-lepton final states have now become statistically compelling with the available Run~2 data. These could be connected with a heavy boson, $H$, decaying predominantly into a SM Higgs boson, $h$, and a singlet scalar, $S$, where $m_H\approx 270$\,GeV and $m_S\approx 150$\,GeV. These can be embedded into a scenario where a Two Higgs Doublet is considered with an additional singlet scalar, 2HDM+S…
We propose a new class of $U(1)_{μ-τ}$ gauged model that can explain recent flavor anomalies such as muon $g-2$, $b\to sμ^+ μ^-$, as well as include a scalar dark matter candidate while satisfying all the phenomenological constraints. For this purpose, we add new vectorlike quarks and leptons as well as two inert singlet scalars, one leptophilic and the other leptophobic. In our model $b\to sμ^+ μ^-$ anomalies can be explained by loop induced interactions among the SM and exotic quarks and $Z'$ gauge boson. In our numerical analysis, we show allowed region of our model to be narrow, and it wou…
We consider a model with multi-charged particles including vector-like fermions and a charged scalar under a local $U(1)_{μ- τ}$ symmetry. We search for allowed parameter region explaining muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon $g-2$) and $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ anomalies, satisfying constraints from the lepton flavor violations, $Z$ boson decays, meson anti-meson mixing and collider experiments. Carrying out numerical analysis, we explore the typical size of the muon $g-2$ and Wilson coefficients to explain $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ anomalies in our model when all other experimental constraints a…
We perform a phenomenological analysis of simplified models of light, feebly interacting particles~(FIPs)that can provide a combined explanation of the anomalies in $b\to s l^+ l ^-$ transitions at LHCb and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Different scenarios are categorised according to the explicit momentum dependence of the FIP coupling to the $b-s$ and $μ-μ$ vector currents and they are subject to several constraints from flavour and precision physics. We show that viable combined solutions to the muon $g-2$ and flavour anomalies exist with the exchange of a vector FIP with mass …
In this white paper for the Snowmass process, we discuss the prospects of probing new physics explanations of the persistent rare $B$ decay anomalies with a muon collider. If the anomalies are indirect signs of heavy new physics, non-standard rates for $μ^+ μ^- \to b s$ production should be observed with high significance at a muon collider with center of mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 10$ TeV. The forward-backward asymmetry of the $b$-jet provides diagnostics of the chirality structure of the new physics couplings. In the absence of a signal, $μ^+ μ^- \to b s$ can indirectly probe new physics sca…
We discuss the minimal theory for quark-lepton unification at the low scale. In this context, the quarks and leptons are unified in the same representations and neutrino masses are generated through the inverse seesaw mechanism. The properties of the leptoquarks predicted in this theory are discussed in detail and we investigate the predictions for the leptonic and semi-leptonic decays of mesons. We study the possibility to explain the current value of $\mathcal{R}_K$ reported by the LHCb collaboration and the value of the muon anomalous magnetic moment reported by the Muon $g-2$ experiment at…
The muon $g-2$ anomaly is a long-standing discrepancy from its standard model prediction. The recent improved measurement of the fine structure constant makes the electron $g-2$ anomaly very interesting for both sign and magnitude in comparison to the muon $g-2$ anomaly. In order to explain both muon and electron $g-2$ anomalies, we introduce flavor violation in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) as a low energy theory. The lepton flavor violating process $τ\to eγ$ is one the major constraints to explain both $g-2$ anomalies simultaneously emerging from flavor violating terms. We…
This thesis covers a few successes of the SM and its limitations. The limitations implement that the SM must be expanded to explain the observables which can not be addressed by the SM such as mass of neutrinos, a few of anomalies, DM, DE, etc. In order to extend the SM, we take the model-dependent approach and a minimal extension to the SM. For the minimal extension, we make use of vector-like family, SM-like scalar (plus a singlet flavon), and $U(1)^\prime$ symmetry. A first BSM model in my first work is to explain both the electron and muon anomalous magnetic moments at the same time, while…
We explain anomalies currently present in various data samples used for the measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of electron ($a_e$) and muon ($a_μ$) in terms of an Aligned 2-Higgs Doublet Model with right-handed neutrinos. The explanation is driven by one and two-loop topologies wherein a very light CP-odd neutral Higgs state ($A$) contributes significantly to $a_μ$ but negligibly to $a_e$, so as to revert the sign of the new physics corrections in the former case with respect to the latter, wherein the dominant contribution is due to a charged Higgs boson ($H^\pm$) and heavy neutrino…
We calculate the muon flux from annihilation of the dark matter in the core of the Sun, in the core of the Earth and from cosmic diffuse neutrinos produced in dark matter annihilation in the halos. We consider model-independent direct neutrino production and secondary neutrino production from the decay of taus produced in the annihilation of dark matter. We illustrate how muon energy distribution from dark matter annihilation has a very different shape than muon flux from atmospheric neutrinos. We consider both the upward muon flux, when muons are created in the rock below the detector, and th…
We explore a simple model containing two singlet scalars as dark matter supplemented with a vector-like lepton. Evading collider and dark matter constraints, the model is able to accommodate the correct dark matter relic abundance and the muon g-2 anomaly when the masses of the three new fields are around 100 GeV and the values of the minimum amount of required couplings are order one.
A very economic scenario with just three extra scalar fields beyond the Standard Model is invoked to explain the muon anomalous magnetic moment, the requisite relic abundance of dark matter as well as the Xenon-1T excess through the inelastic down-scattering of the dark scalar.
Motivated by the long-standing tension in the muon anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) and persistent observations of B-physics anomalies in $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$ ratios, we construct a simple two-loop radiative neutrino mass model, and propose a combined explanations of all these apparently disjoint phenomena within this framework. Our proposed model consists of two scalar leptoquarks (LQs), a $SU(2)_L$ singlet $S_1\sim (\overline{3},1,1/3)$ and a $SU(2)_L$ triplet $S_3\sim (\overline{3},3,1/3)$ to accommodate $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$ anomalies, respectively. The muon…
A recent update from MiniBooNE has strengthened the observed $4.8σ$ excess of $e$-like events. Motivated by this and other notable deviations from standard model predictions, such as the muon $(g-2)$, we propose a solution to low energy anomalies through a dark neutrino sector. The model is renormalizable and can also explain light neutrino masses with an anomaly-free and dark $U(1)^\prime$ gauge symmetry broken at the GeV scale. Large kinetic mixing leads to s-channel production of heavy neutral leptons at $e^+e^-$ colliders, where we point out and explain a $\gtrsim 2σ$ excess observed in th…
We propose a simple model in which dark matter particle exchanges mediate a new quantum force between muons and nucleons, resolving the proton charge radius puzzle. At the same time, the discrepancy between the measured anomalous magnetic moment of the muon and the Standard Model prediction can be accommodated, and thermal relic abundance of the dark matter candidate is consistent with observations. The dark matter particle mass is in the MeV range. We show that the model is consistent with a variety of experimental and observational constraints.
We consider isosinglet scalar extension of a model with a Higgs democracy - multihiggs extension of the SM where each quark and lepton has its own Higgs isodoublet. The addition of light isosinglet scalar allows to solve both muon $g_μ-2$ anomaly and dark matter problem. Also we point out that an extension of the model with $L_μ - L_τ$ vector interaction allows not only explain muon $g_μ - 2$ anomaly but also dark matter density.
We show that the observed anomalies in the lepton sector can be explained in extensions of the Standard Model that are natural and, therefore, resolve the Higgs sector hierarchy problem. The scale of new physics is around the TeV and Technicolor-like theories are ideal candidate models.
The FNAL+BNL measurements for muon $g-2$ is $4.2σ$ above the SM prediction, and the Berkeley $^{133}$Cs measurement for the fine-structure constant $α_{\rm em}$ leads to the SM prediction for electron $g-2$ which is $2.4σ$ above the experimental value. Hence, a joint explanation of both anomalies requires a positive contribution to muon $g-2$ and a negative contribution to electron $g-2$, which is rather challenging. In this work we explore the possibility of such a joint explanation in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). Assuming no universality between smuon and selectron soft …
Lepton number is promoted to an $U(1)_L$ gauge symmetry in a simple extension of the standard model. The spontaneous breaking of $U(1)_L$ by three units allows a conserved $Z_3^L$ lepton symmetry to remain, guaranteeing that neutrinos are Dirac fermions, which acquire naturally small masses from a previously proposed mechanism. Dark matter appears as a singlet scalar, with dark symmetry $Z_3^D$ derivable from $Z_3^L$. Muon $g-2$ may be explained.
We demonstrate that the recent measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon and dark matter can be simultaneously explained within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Dark matter is a mostly-bino state, with the relic abundance obtained via co-annihilations with either the sleptons or wino. The most interesting regions of parameter space will be tested by the next generation of dark matter direct detection experiments.
We show how, in the $B-L$ extension of the SM (BLSM) with an Inverse Seesaw (IS) mechanism for neutrino mass generation, a light $Z'$ state with moderate couplings to SM objects, hence `dark' in its nature, can be associated, in conjunction with light sterile neutrinos, to some present day data anomalies, such as the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon as well as a possible signal indicating the existence of sterile neutrinos in neutrino beam experiments.
