{\bf Abstract} \,\,We prove exponential decay of the critical and subcritical semilinear inhomogeneous and anisotropic elastic wave equation with locally distributed damping on bounded domain. One novelty compared to previous results, is to give a checkable condition of the inhomogeneous and anisotropic medias. Another novelty is to establish a framework to study the stability of the damped semilinear inhomogeneous and anisotropic elastic wave equation, which is hard to apply Carleman estimates to deal with. We develop the Morawetz estimates and the compactness-uniqueness arguments for the semiliear elastic wave equation to prove the unique continuation, observability inequality and stabilization result.
It is pointing that our proof is different from the classical method (See Dehman et al.\cite{ZYY11}, Joly et al.\cite{ZYY16} and Zuazua \cite{ZYY43}), which succeeds for the subcritical semilinear wave equation and fails for the critical semilinear wave equation.
Let us consider a semilinear boundary value problem $ - Δu= f(x,u),$ in $Ω,$ with Dirichlet boundary conditions, where $ Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N $, $N> 2,$ is a bounded smooth domain. We provide sufficient conditions guarantying that semi-stable weak positive solutions to subcritical semilinear elliptic equations are smooth in any dimension, and as a consequence, classical solutions. By a subcritical nonlinearity we mean $f(x,s)/s^\frac{N+2}{N-2} \to 0$ as $s\to\infty$, including non-power nonlinearities, and enlarging the class of subcritical nonlinearities, which is usually reserved for power …
We consider the semilinear heat equation with a superlinear power nonlinearity in the Sobolev subcritical range. We construct a solution which blows up in finite time only at the origin, with a completely new blow-up profile, which is cross-shaped. Our method is general and extends to the construction of other solutions blowing up only at the origin, with a large variety of blow-up profiles, degenerate or not.
In this work, we study the of positive ground state solution for the semilinear elliptic problem $$ \left\{ \begin{array} [c]{ll}% -Δu=u^{p(x)-1},\quad u>0 & \mathrm{in}\,G\subseteq\mathbb{R}^{N}% ,\,N\geq3\\ u\in D_{0}^{1,2}(G), & \end{array} \right. $$ where $G$ is either $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ or a bounded domain, and $p:G\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous function assuming critical and subcritical values.
We introduce a straightforward method to analyze the blow-up of systems of ordinary differential inequalities, and apply it to study the blow- up of solutions to a weakly coupled system of semilinear heat equations. We prove that the solution blows up in a finite time under the subcritical condition. Moreover, we give estimates of lifespan of the solution and lower estimates of the blow-up rate for a localized average of each component.
The purpose of this paper is to prove local upper and lower bounds for weak solutions of semilinear elliptic equations of the form $-Δu= c u^p$, with $0<p<p_s=(d+2)/(d-2)$, defined on bounded domains of $\RR^d$, $d\ge 3$, without reference to the boundary behaviour. We give an explicit expression for all the involved constants. As a consequence, we obtain local Harnack inequalities with explicit constant, as well as gradient bounds.
We study the generalized boundary value problem for nonnegative solutions of of $-Δu+g(u)=0$ in a bounded Lipschitz domain $Ω$, when $g$ is continuous and nondecreasing. Using the harmonic measure of $Ω$, we define a trace in the class of outer regular Borel measures. We amphasize the case where $g(u)=|u|^{q-1}u$, $q>1$. When $Ω$ is (locally) a cone with vertex $y$, we prove sharp results of removability and characterization of singular behavior. In the general case, assuming that $Ω$ possesses a tangent cone at every boundary point and $q$ is subcritical, we prove an existence and uniqueness …
In this paper, we present output feedback boundary stabilization for a class of semilinear parabolic PDEs with a boundary measurement and an actuation located at the same place. The method uses backstepping transformations, where the state and error systems are proved to be locally exponentially stable in the $\mathbb{H}^4$ norm. The stability of the transformed systems are obtained by constructing a strict Lyapunov function. A numerical example using the FitzHugh-Nagumo equation shows the proposed control law stabilizes the system into its equilibrium solution.
In this paper, we consider the blow-up problem of semilinear generalized Tricomi equation. Two blow-up results with lifespan upper bound are obtained under subcritical and critical Strauss type exponent. In the subcritical case, the proof is based on the test function method and the iteration argument. In the critical case, an iteration procedure with the slicing method is employed. This approach has been successfully applied to the critical case of semilinear wave equation with perturbed Laplacian or the damped wave equation of scattering damping case. The present work gives its application t…
We present new $L^\infty$ a priori estimates for weak solutions of a wide class of subcritical elliptic equations in bounded domains. No hypotheses on the sign of the solutions, neither of the non-linearities are required. This method is based in combining elliptic regularity with Gagliardo-Nirenberg or Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg interpolation inequalities. Let us consider a semilinear boundary value problem $ -Δu= f(x,u),$ in $Ω,$ with Dirichlet boundary conditions, where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N $, with $N> 2,$ is a bounded smooth domain, and $f$ is a subcritical Carathéodory non-linearity. We …
In the present paper, we study the normalized solutions with least energy to the following system: $$\begin{cases} -Δu+λ_1u=μ_1 |u|^{p-2}u+βr_1|u|^{r_1-2}|v|^{r_2}u\quad &\hbox{in}\;\mathbb R^N,\\ -Δv+λ_2v=μ_2 |v|^{q-2}v+βr_2|u|^{r_1}|v|^{r_2-2}v\quad&\hbox{in}\;\mathbb R^N,\\ \int_{\mathbb R^N}u^2=a_1^2\quad\hbox{and}\;\int_{\mathbb R^N}v^2=a_2^2, \end{cases}$$ where $p,q,r_1+r_2$ can be Sobolev critical. To this purpose, we study the geometry of the Pohozaev manifold and the associated minimizition problem. Under some assumption on $a_1,a_2$ and $β$, we obtain the existence of the positive n…
In this article, we prove the exponential stabilization of the semilinear wave equation with a damping effective in a zone satisfying the geometric control condition only. The nonlinearity is assumed to be subcritical, defocusing and analytic. The main novelty compared to previous results, is the proof of a unique continuation result in large time for some undamped equation. The idea is to use an asymptotic smoothing effect proved by Hale and Raugel in the context of dynamical systems. Then, once the analyticity in time is proved, we apply a unique continuation result with partial analyticity …
In this article we exploite the uniform decay for damped linear wave equation with Zaremba boundary condition, obtained in a previous work, to treat the same problem in nonlinear context. We need a uniqueness assumption, usual for this type of nonlinear problem. The result is deduced from an observation estimate for nonlinear problem proved by a contradiction argument.
Let $Ω$ be a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$ and $δ(x)=\text{dist}\,(x,\partial Ω)$. Assume $μ>0$, $ν$ is a nonnegative finite measure on $\partial Ω$ and $g \in C(Ω\times \mathbb{R}_+)$. We study positive solutions of $$ (P)\qquad -Δu - \fracμ{δ^2} u = g(x,u) \text{ in } Ω, \qquad \text{tr}^*(u)=ν. $$ Here $\text{tr}^*(u)$ denotes the normalized boundary trace of $u$ which was recently introduced by M. Marcus and P. T. Nguyen. We focus on the case $0<μ< C_H(Ω)$ (the Hardy constant for $Ω$) and provide some qualitative properties of solutions of (P). When $g(x,u)=u^q$ with $q>1$, we pr…
We consider the semilinear damped wave equation $\partial_{tt}^2 u(x,t)+γ(x)\partial_t u(x,t)=Δu(x,t)-αu(x,t)-f(x,u(x,t))$. In this article, we obtain the first results concerning the stabilization of this semilinear equation in cases where $γ$ does not satisfy the geometric control condition. When some of the geodesic rays are trapped, the stabilization of the linear semigroup is semi-uniform in the sense that $\|e^{At}A^{-1}\|\leq h(t)$ for some function $h$ with $h(t)\rightarrow 0$ when $t\rightarrow +\infty$. We provide general tools to deal with the semilinear stabilization problem in the…
In this work we study the blow-up of solutions of a weakly coupled system of damped semilinear wave equations in the scattering case with power nonlinearities. We apply an iteration method to study both the subcritical case and the critical case. In the subcritical case our approach is based on lower bounds for the space averages of the components of local solutions. In the critical case we use the slicing method and a couple of auxiliary functions, recently introduced by Wakasa-Yordanov, to modify the definition of the functionals with the introduction of weight terms. In particular, we find …
We study the stabilization and the wellposedness of solutions of the wave equation with subcritical semilinearities and locally distributed nonlinear dissipation. The novelty of this paper is that we deal with the difficulty that the main equation does not have good nonlinear structure amenable to a direct proof of a priori bounds and a desirable observability inequality. It is well known that observability inequalities play a critical role in characterizing the long time behaviour of solutions of evolution equations, which is the main goal of this study. In order to address this, we truncate …
We consider the semilinear heat equation $$\partial_t u -Δu =f(u), \quad (x,t)\in \mathbb{R}^N\times [0,T),\qquad (1)$$ with $f(u)=|u|^{p-1}u\log^a (2+u^2)$, where $p>1$ is Sobolev subcritical and $a\in \mathbb{R}$. We first show an upper bound for any blow-up solution of (1). Then, using this estimate and the logarithmic property, we prove that the exact blow-up rate of any singular solution of (1) is given by the ODE solution associated with (1), namely $u' =|u|^{p-1}u\log^a (2+u^2)$. In other terms, all blow-up solutions in the Sobolev subcritical range are Type I solutions. Up to our knowl…
We study the initial trace problem for positive solutions of semilinear heat equations with strong absorption. We show that in general this initial trace is an outer regular Borel measure. We emphasize in particular the case where $u$ satisfies (E) $\partial_t u-Δu+t^α|u|^{q-1}u=0$, with $q>1$ and $α>-1$ and prove that in the subcritical case $1
In this paper we prove classification results for solutions to subcritical and critical semilinear elliptic equations with a nonnegative potential on noncompact manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. We show in the subcritical case that all nonnegative solutions vanish identically. Moreover, under some natural assumptions, in the critical case we prove a strong rigidity result, namely we classify all nontrivial solutions showing that they exist only if the potential is constant and the manifold is isometric to the Euclidean space.
In this paper, we consider the semilinear equation involving the fractional Laplacian in the Euclidian space $\mathbb{R}^n$: \begin{equation} (-Δ)^{α/2} u(x) = f(x_n) \,u^p(x), \quad x \in \mathbb{R}^n \label{n26} \end{equation} in the subcritical case with $1<p<\frac{n+α}{n-α}$. Instead of carrying out direct investigations on pseudo-differential equation (\ref{n26}), we first seek its equivalent form in an integral equation as below: \begin{equation} u(x)=\int_{\mathbb{R}^n}G_{\infty}(x,y)\,f(y_n)\, u^{p}(y)\,dy, \label{n27} \end{equation} where $ G_{\infty}(x,y)$ is the Green's function ass…
In this note two blow-up results are proved for a weakly coupled system of semilinear wave equations with distinct scale-invariant lower order terms both in the subcritical case and in the critical case, when the damping and the mass terms make both equations in some sense "wave-like". In the proof of the subcritical case an iteration argument is used. This approach is based on a coupled system of nonlinear ordinary integral inequalities and lower bound estimates for the spatial integral of the nonlinearities. In the critical case we employ a test function type method, that has been developed …
We consider in this paper some class of perturbation for the semilinear wave equation with subcritical (in the conformal transform sense) power nonlinearity. We first derive a Lyapunov functional in similarity variables and then use it to derive the blow-up rate. Though the result is similar to the unperturbed case in its statements, this is not the case of our method, which is new up to our knowledge.
Consider a nonlinear wave equation for a massless scalar field with self-interaction in the spatially flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker spacetimes. We treat the so-called heatlike case where the critical exponent is affected by the Fujita exponent. We show upper bounds of the lifespan of blow-up solutions by distinguishing subcritical and critical cases.
The purpose in this paper is to determine the global behavior of solutions to the initial-boundary value problems for energy-subcritical and critical semilinear heat equations by initial data with lower energy than the mountain pass level in energy spaces associated with self-adjoint operators satisfying Gaussian upper bounds. Our self-adjoint operators include the Dirichlet Laplacian on an open set, Robin Laplacian on an exterior domain, and Schrödinger operators, etc.
The question of triviality of solutions of the semilinear Ornstein-Uhlenbeck equation, \[ Δw-\frac{1}{2} \langle x,\nabla w\rangle-\fracλ{p-1}w+|w|^{p-1}w=0, \] is considered. It is shown, that if $p>1$ is Sobolev subcritical or critical and $λ\leq 1$, then all bounded entire solutions are constant. Moreover, in the critical case, the same conclusion holds in the subclass of radial solutions provided that $n\geq 4$ and $λ\in \left[\frac{3 n}{2(n-1)},2\right]$.
We study bounded solutions to the fractional equation $(-Δ)^s u + u - |u|^{q-2}u = 0$ in $\mathbb R^n$ for $n\ge2$ and subcritical exponent $q>2$. Applying the variational approach based on concentration arguments and symmetry considerations which was introduced by Lerman, Naryshkin and Nazarov (2020) we construct several types of solutions with various structures (radial, rectangular, triangular, hexagonal, quasi-periodic, breather type, etc.).
By using the Strichartz esitmate and Picard iteration, we prove the subcritical(critical in some cases) global solution in $C_t H_x^s\cap C_t^1 H^{s-1}_x$ with small data for semilinear wave equation with nonlinearity of type $(\partial u)^k$($k\ge 1+\frac{4}{n-1}\vee 2$ and $(n,k)\neq (3,3)$). For $(n,k)=(3,3)$, we get the almost global existence. In addition, we give the global existence with radial data when $k> 1+\frac{2}{n-1}\vee 2$.
We consider the semilinear wave equation in the radial case with conformal subcritical power nonlinearity. If we consider a blow-up point different from the origin, then we exhibit a new Lyapunov functional which is a perturbation of the one dimensional case and extend all our previous results known in the one-dimensional case. In particular, we show that the blow-up set near non-zero non-characteristic points is of class $C^1$, and that the set of characteristic points is made of concentric spheres in finite number in $\{\frac 1R \le |x|\le R\}$ for any $R>1$.
In this paper, we study the blow-up of solutions to the semilinear Moore-Gibson-Thompson (MGT) equation with nonlinearity of derivative type $|u_t|^p$ in the conservative case. We apply an iteration method in order to study both the subcritical case and the critical case. Hence, we obtain a blow-up result for the semilinear MGT equation (under suitable assumptions for initial data) when the exponent $p$ for the nonlinear term satisfies $1<p\leqslant (n+1)/(n-1)$ for $n\geqslant2$ and $p>1$ for $n=1$. In particular, we find the same blow-up range for $p$ as in the corresponding semilinear wave …
In this paper we consider the blow-up for solutions to a weakly coupled system of semilinear damped wave equations of derivative type in the scattering case. After introducing suitable functionals proposed by Lai-Takamura for the corresponding single semilinear equation, we employ Kato's lemma to derive the blow-up result in the subcritical case. On the other hand, in the critical case an iteration procedure based on the slicing method is employed. Let us point out that we find as critical curve in the p-q plane for the pair of exponents (p, q) in the nonlinear terms the same one as for the we…
For any subcritical index of regularity $s>3/2$, we prove the almost global well posedness for the 2-dimensional semilinear wave equation with the cubic nonlinearity in the derivatives, when the initial data are small in the Sobolev space $H^s\times H^{s-1}$ with certain angular regularity. The main new ingredient in the proof is an endpoint version of the generalized Strichartz estimates in the space $L^2_t L_{|x|}^\infty L^2_θ([0,T]\times \R^2)$. In the last section, we also consider the general semilinear wave equations with the spatial dimension $n\ge 2$ and the order of nonlinearity $p\ge…
This paper is concerned with the structure of the solutions to subcritical elliptic equations related to the Matukuma equation. In certain cases the complete structure of the solution set is known, and is comparable to that of the original Matukuma equation. Here we derive sufficient conditions for a more complicated solution set consisting of; (i) crossing solutions for small initial conditions and large initial conditions; (ii) at least one open interval of slowly decaying solutions; and (iii) at least two rapidly decaying solutions. As a consequence we obtain multiplicity results for rapidl…
We study global existence of solutions to the Cauchy problem for the wave equation with time-dependent damping and a power nonlinearity in the overdamping case. We prove the global well-posedness for small data in the energy space for the whole energy-subcritical case. This result implies that small data blow-up does not occur in the overdamping case, different from the other cases, i.e. effective or non-effective damping.
Refined structures of blowup for non-collapsing maximal solution to a semilinear parabolic equation are studied. We will prove that the blowup set is empty for non-collapsing blowing-up in subcritical case, and all finite time non-collapsing blowing-up must be type II in critical case. When p>p_S=(N+2)/(N-2) for N>=3, the Hausdorff dimension of the blowup set for maximal solution whose energy is non-collapsing is shown to be no greater than N-2-4/(p-1), which answers a question proposed in [7] positively. At the end of this paper, we also present some new examples of collapsing and non-collaps…
In this paper, we investigate the global behaviors of solutions to defocusing semilinear wave equations in $\mathbb{R}^{1+d}$ with $d\geq 3$. We prove that in the energy space the solution verifies the integrated local energy decay estimates for the full range of energy subcritical and critical power. For the case when $p>1+\frac{2}{d-1}$, we derive a uniform weighted energy bound for the solution as well as inverse polynomial decay of the energy flux through hypersurfaces away from the light cone. As a consequence, the solution scatters in the energy space and in the critical Sobolev space fo…
We investigate the problem of entire solutions for a class of fourth order, dilation invariant, semilinear elliptic equations with power-type weights and with subcritical or critical growth in the nonlinear term. These equations define non compact variational problems and are characterized by the presence of a term containing lower order derivatives, whose strength is ruled by a parameter λ. We can prove existence of entire solutions found as extremal functions for some Rellich-Sobolev type inequalities. Moreover, when the nonlinearity is suitably close to the critical one and the parameter λ …
A semilinear heat equation $u_{t}=Δu+f(u)$ with nonnegative initial data in a subset of $L^{1}(Ω)$ is considered under the assumption that $f$ is nonnegative and nondecreasing and $Ω\subseteq \R^{n}$. A simple technique for proving existence and regularity based on the existence of supersolutions is presented, then a method of construction of local and global supersolutions is proposed. This approach is applied to the model case $f(s)=s^{p}$, $ϕ\in L^{q}(Ω)$: new sufficient conditions for the existence of local and global classical solutions are derived in the critical and subcritical range of…
We study the existence of solutions to the fractional elliptic equation (E1) $(-Δ)^αu+εg(|\nabla u|)=ν$ in a bounded regular domain $Ω$ of $\R^N (N\ge2)$, subject to the condition (E2) $u=0$ in $Ω^c$, where $ε=1$ or $-1$, $(-Δ)^α$ denotes the fractional Laplacian with $α\in(1/2,1)$, $ν$ is a Radon measure and $g:\R_+\mapsto\R_+$ is a continuous function. We prove the existence of weak solutions for problem (E1)-(E2) when $g$ is subcritical. Furthermore, the asymptotic behavior and uniqueness of solutions are described when $ν$ is Dirac mass, $g(s)=s^p$, $p\geq 1$ and $ε=1$.
Let $Ω\subset\BBR^N$ be a bounded $C^2$ domain and $\CL_\gk=-\Gd-\frac{\gk}{d^2}$ the Hardy operator where $d=\dist (.,\prt\Gw)$ and $0<\gk\leq\frac{1}{4}$. Let $\ga_{\pm}=1\pm\sqrt{1-4\gk}$ be the two Hardy exponents, $\gl_\gk$ the first eigenvalue of $\CL_\gk$ with corresponding positive eigenfunction $ϕ_\gk$. If $g$ is a continuous nondecreasing function satisfying $\int_1^\infty(g(s)+|g(-s)|)s^{-2\frac{2N-2+\ga_+}{2N-4+\ga_+}}ds<\infty$, then for any Radon measures $\gn\in \GTM_{ϕ_\gk}(\Gw)$ and $\gm\in \GTM(\prt\Gw)$ there exists a unique weak solution to problem $P_{\gn,\gm}$: $\CL_\gk u…
We study the existence of sign-changing multiple interior spike solutions for the following Dirichlet problem {equation*}\e^2Δv-v+f(v)=0\hbox{in}Ω,\quad v=0 \hbox{on}\partial Ω,{equation*} where $Ω$ is a smooth and bounded domain of $\R^N$, $\e$ is a small positive parameter, $f$ is a superlinear, subcritical and odd nonlinearity. In particular we prove that if $Ω$ has a plane of symmetry and its intersection with the plane is a two-dimensional strictly convex domain, then, provided that $k$ is even and sufficiently large, a $k$-peak solution exists with alternate sign peaks aligned along a cl…
This work concerns the semilinear wave equation in three space dimensions with a power-like nonlinearity which is greater than cubic, and not quintic (i.e. not energy-critical). We prove that a scale-invariant Sobolev norm of any non-scattering solution goes to infinity at the maximal time of existence. This gives a refinement on known results on energy-subcritical and energy-supercritical wave equation, with a unified proof. The proof relies on the channel of energy method, as in arXiv:1204.0031, in weighted scale-invariant Sobolev spaces which were introduced in arXiv:1506.00788. These space…
We consider a blow-up solution for a strongly perturbed semilinear heat equation with Sobolev subcritical power nonlinearity. Working in the framework of similarity variables, we find a Lyapunov functional for the problem. Using this Lyapunov functional, we derive the blow-up rate and the blow-up limit of the solution. We also classify all asymptotic behaviors of the solution at the singularity and give precisely blow-up profiles corresponding to these behaviors. Finally, we attain the blow-up profile numerically, thanks to a new mesh-refinement algorithm inspired by the rescaling method of Be…
In this paper we establish blow-up results and lifespan estimates for semilinear wave equations with scattering damping and negative mass term for subcritical power, which is the same as that of the corresponding problem without mass term, and also the same as that of the corresponding problem without both damping and mass term. For this purpose, we have to use the comparison argument twice, due to the damping and mass term, in additional to a key multiplier. Finally, we get the desired results by an iteration argument.
We study semilinear damped wave equations with power nonlinearity $|u|^p$ and initial data belonging to Sobolev spaces of negative order $\dot{H}^{-γ}$. In the present paper, we obtain a new critical exponent $p=p_{\mathrm{crit}}(n,γ):=1+\frac{4}{n+2γ}$ for some $γ\in(0,\frac{n}{2})$ and low dimensions in the framework of Soblev spaces of negative order. Precisely, global (in time) existence of small data Sobolev solutions of lower regularity is proved for $p>p_{\mathrm{crit}}(n,γ)$, and blow-up of weak solutions in finite time even for small data if $1<p<p_{\mathrm{crit}}(n,γ)$. Furthermore, …
In this paper we study the equation $-Δu+ρ^{-(α+2)}h(ρ^αu)=0$ in a smooth bounded domain $Ω$ where $ρ(x)=\textrm{dist}\,(x,\partial Ω)$, $α>0$ and $h$ is a non-decreasing function which satisfies Keller-Osserman condition. We introduce a condition on $h$ which implies that the equation is subcritical, i.e. the corresponding boundary value problem is well posed with respect to data given by finite measures. Under additional assumptions on $h$ we show that this condition is necessary as well as sufficient. We also discuss b.v. problems with data given by positive unbounded measures. Our results …
We study the existence of weak solutions of (E) $ (-Δ)^αu+g(u)=ν$ in a bounded regular domain $Ω$ in $\R^N (N\ge2)$ which vanish on $\R^N\setminusΩ$, where $(-Δ)^α$ denotes the fractional Laplacian with $α\in(0,1)$, $ν$ is a Radon measure and $g$ is a nondecreasing function satisfying some extra hypothesis. When $g$ satisfies a subcritical integrability condition, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a weak solution for problem (E) for any measure. In the case where $ν$ is Dirac measure, we characterize the asymptotic behavior of the solution. When $g(r)=|r|^{k-1}r$ with $k$ supercritical,…
In this paper we consider the semilinear Cauchy problem for the heat equation with power nonlinearity in the Heisenberg group $\mathbf{H}_n$. The heat operator is given in this case by $\partial_t-Δ_H$, where $Δ_H$ is the so-called sub-Laplacian on $\mathbf{H}_n$. We prove that the Fujita exponent $1 + 2/Q$ is critical, where $Q = 2n + 2$ is the homogeneous dimension of $\mathbf{H}_n$. Furthermore, we prove sharp lifespan estimates for local in time solutions in the subcritical case and in the critical case. In order to get the upper bound estimate for the lifespan (especially, in the critical…
