We study the double ionization of atoms subjected to circularly polarized (CP) laser pulses. We analyze two fundamental ionization processes: the sequential (SDI) and non-sequential (NSDI) double ionization in the light of the rotating frame (RF) which naturally embeds nonadiabatic effects in CP pulses. We use and compare two adiabatic approximations: The adiabatic approximation in the laboratory frame (LF) and the adiabatic approximation in the RF. The adiabatic approximation in the RF encapsulates the energy variations of the electrons on subcycle timescales happening in the LF and this, by fully taking into account the ion-electron interaction. This allows us to identify two nonadiabatic effects including the lowering of the threshold intensity at which over-the-barrier ionization happens and the lowering of the ionization time of the electrons. As a consequence, these nonadiabatic effects facilitate over-the-barrier ionization and recollision-induced ionizations. We analyze the outcomes of these nonadiabatic effects on the recollision mechanism. We show that the laser envelope plays an instrumental role in a recollision channel in CP pulses at the heart of NSDI.
We compare results of the recent experiment by Herath et al [T. Herath, L. Yan, S. K. Lee, and W. Li, Phys. Rev. Lett. 109, 043004 (2012)] on strong-field nonadiabatic tunneling in circularly polarized laser fields with the original predictions of our theory [I. Barth and O. Smirnova, Phys. Rev A 84, 063415 (2011)] that stimulated these experiments. We show that the theory and experiment are in very good agreement. We also explain why the initial comparison performed by Herath et al [T. Herath, L. Yan, S. K. Lee, and W. Li, Phys. Rev. Lett. 109, 043004 (2012)] has suggested quantitative discre…
We provide detailed analysis of strong field ionization of degenerate valence p orbitals by circularly polarized fields. Our analytical approach is conceptually equivalent to the Perelomov, Popov, and Terent'ev (PPT) theory and is virtually exact for short range potentials. After benchmarking our results against the PPT theory for s orbitals, we obtain the results for p orbitals. We also show that, as long as the dipole approximation is valid, both the PPT method and our results are gauge invariant, in contrast with widely used strong field approximation (SFA). Our main result, which has alrea…
Based on the strong-field approximation, we obtain analytical expressions for the initial momentum at the tunnel exit and instantaneous ionization rate of tunneling ionization in elliptically polarized laser fields with arbitrary ellipticity. The tunneling electron reveals a nonzero offset of the initial momentum at the tunnel exit in the elliptically polarized laser field. We find that the transverse and longitudinal components of this momentum offset with respect to the instantaneous field direction are directly related to the time derivatives of the instantaneous laser electric field along …
Strong field photoelectron holography has been proposed as a means for interrogating the spatial and temporal information of electrons and ions in a dynamic system. After ionization, part of the electron wave packet may directly go to the detector (the reference wave), while another part may be driven back to the ion where it scatters off (the signal wave). The interference hologram of the two waves may be used to retrieve the target information. However, unlike conventional optical holography, the propagations of electron wave packets are affected by the Coulomb potential as well as by the la…
It is generally believed that the recollision mechanism of atomic nonsequential double ionization is suppressed in circularly polarized laser fields because the returning electron is unlikely to encounter the core. On the contrary, we find that recollision can and does significantly enhance double ionization, even to the extent of forming a "knee", the signature of the nonsequential process. Using a classical model, we explain two apparently contradictory experiments, the absence of a knee for helium and its presence for magnesium.
We theoretically study frustrated double ionization (FDI) of atoms subjected to intense circularly polarized laser pulses using a three-dimensional classical model. We find a novel "knee" structure of FDI probability as a function of intensity, which is similar to the intensity dependence of nonsequential double ionization probability. The observation of FDI is more favourable when using targets with low ionization potentials and short driving laser wavelengths. This is attributed to the crucial role of recollision therein, which can be experimentally inferred from the photoelectron momentum d…
We theoretically study multiphoton ionization through the triplet states of Mg by linearly polarized (LP) and circularly polarized (CP) fs laser pulses. After the construction of the atomic basis using the frozen-core Hartree-Fock potential (FCHFP) as well as the model potential (MP) approaches for both singlet and triplet series which show rather good agreements with the existing data in terms of state energies and dipole matrix elements, we solve time-dependent Schrödinger equations with $3s3p$ $^{3}P_{1}$ as an initial state, and calculate the total ionization yield and photoelectron energy…
We theoretically study multiphoton ionization of Mg in the circularly as well as the linearly polarized laser fields. Specifically two-, three-, and four-photon ionization cross sections from the ground and first excited states are calculated as a function of photon energy. Calculations are performed using the frozen-core Hartree-Fock and also the model potential approaches and the results are compared. We find that the model potential approach provide results as good as or even slightly better than those by the frozen-core Hartree-Fock approach. We also report the relative ratios of the ioniz…
We report on non-sequential double ionization of Ar by a laser pulse consisting of two counter rotating circularly polarized fields (390 nm and 780 nm). The double ionization probability depends strongly on the relative intensity of the two fields and shows a "knee"-like structure as function of intensity. We conclude that double ionization is driven by a beam of nearly monoenergetic recolliding electrons, which can be controlled in intensity and energy by the field parameters. The electron momentum distributions show the recolliding electron as well as a second electron which escapes from an …
We propose a method to study the tunneling process by analyzing the time-dependent ionization yield in circularly polarized laser. A numerical calculation shows that for an atom exposed to a long laser pulse, if its initial electronic state wave function is non-spherical symmetric, the delayed phase shift of the ionization rate vs. the laser cycle period in real time in the region close to the peak intensity of the laser pulse can be used to probe the tunneling time. In this region, an obvious delay phase shift is observed, showing the tunneling time is in order of tens of attoseconds. Further…
We solve the three-dimensional time-dependent Schrödinger equation for a few-cycle circularly polarized femtosecond laser pulse interacting with an oriented target exemplified by an Argon atom, initially in a $3\text{p}_{x}$ or $3\text{p}_{y}$ state. The photoelectron momentum distributions show distinct signatures of the orbital structure of the initial state as well as the carrier-envelope phase of the applied pulse. Our \textit{ab initio} results are compared with results obtained using the length-gauge strong-field approximation, which allows for a clear interpretation of the results in te…
The intermediate domain of strong-field ionization between the tunneling and the multiphoton regimes is investigated using the strong field approximation and the imaginary-time method. An intuitive model for the dynamics is developed which describes the ionization process within a nonadiabatic tunneling picture with a coordinate dependent electron energy during the under-the-barrier motion. The nonadiabatic effects in the elliptically polarized laser field induce a transversal momentum shift of the tunneled electron wave packet at the tunnel exit, a delayed appearance in the continuum as well …
The full three-dimensional photoelectron momentum distributions of argon are measured in intense near-circularly polarized laser fields. We observed that the transverse momentum distribution of ejected electrons by 410-nm near-circularly polarized field is unexpectedly narrowed with increasing laser intensity, which is contrary to the conventional rules predicted by adiabatic theory. By analyzing the momentum-resolved angular momentum distribution measured experimentally and the corresponding trajectories of ejected electrons semiclassically, the narrowing can be attributed to a temporary trap…
In the recent work of Herath et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 109, 043004 (2012)] the first experimental observation of a dependence of strong-field ionization rate on the sign of the magnetic quantum number m (of the initial bound state (n,l.m)) was reported. The experiment with nearly circularly polarized light could not distinguish which sign of m favors faster ionization. We perform ab initio calculations for the hydrogen atom initially in one of the four bound sub states with the principal quantum number n=2 and irradiated by a short circularly polarized laser pulse of 800nm. In the intensity ran…
We report on the non-adiabatic offset of the initial electron momentum distribution in the plane of polarization upon single ionization of argon by strong field tunneling and show how to experimentally control the degree of non-adiabaticity. Two-color counter- and co-rotating fields (390 and 780 nm) are compared to show that the non-adiabatic offset strongly depends on the temporal evolution of the laser electric field. We introduce a simple method for the direct access to the non-adiabatic offset using two-color counter- and co-rotating fields. Further, for a single-color circularly polarized…
We apply the time-dependent analytical R-matrix theory to develop a movie of hole motion in a Kr atom upon ionization by strong circularly polarized field. We find rich hole dynamics, ranging from rotation to swinging motion. The motion of the hole depends on the final energy and the spin of the photoelectron and can be controlled by the laser frequency and intensity. Crucially, hole rotation is a purely non-adiabatic effect, completely missing in the framework of quasistatic (adiabatic) tunneling theories. We explore the possibility to use hole rotation as a clock for measuring ionization tim…
We theoretically study multiphoton ionization of the Ca atom irradiated by the second (photon energy 3.1 eV) and third (photon energy 4.65 eV) harmonics of Ti:sapphire laser pulses (photon energy 1.55 eV). Because of the dense energy level structure the second and third harmonics of a Ti:sapphire laser are nearly single-photon resonant with the ${4s4p}$ $^1P^o$ and ${4s5p}$ $^1P^o$ states, respectively. Although two-photon ionization takes place through the near-resonant intermediate states with the same symmetry in both cases, it turns out that there are significant differences between them. …
We perform ab initio calculations for the hydrogen atom initially in one of the six circular bound states with the principal quantum numbers n = 2, 3 and 4, irradiated by a short circularly polarized laser pulse of 400 nm. The field propagates in the direction parallel to the z-component of the angular momentum of the atom. We investigate probabilities for the atom to ionize or to get on some bound (excited) state or to remain in the initial state after the end of the laser pulse. In most cases, we find pronounced differences in ionization probabilities for atoms in states having different sig…
Electron-core interactions play a key role in strong-field ionization and the formation of photoelectron spectra. We analyse the temporal dynamics of strong field ionization associated with these interactions using the time-dependent analytical R-matrix (ARM) method, developed in our previous work [J. Kaushal and O. Smirnova, Phys. Rev. A 88, 013421 (2013)]. The approach is fully quantum but includes the concept of trajectories. However, the trajectories are not classical in the sense that they have both real and imaginary components all the way to the detector. We show that the imaginary part…
We analyze, quantum mechanically, the dynamics of ionization with a strong, circularly polarized, laser field. We show that the main source for non-adiabatic effects is connected to an effective barrier lowering due to the laser frequency. Such non-adiabatic effects manifest themselves through ionization rates and yields that depart up to more than one order of magnitude from a static-field configuration. Beyond circular polarization, these results show the limits of standard instantaneous - static-field like - interpretation of laser-matter interaction and the great need for including time de…
We show that ionization of noble gas atoms by strong infrared circularly polarized laser field under standard exerimental conditions can yield electrons with up to 100% spin polarization in energy resolved measurements. Spin polarization arises due to the interplay of the electron-core entanglement and the sensitivity of ionization in circularly polarized fields to the sense of electron rotation in the initial state.
The electron nondipole dynamics in tunneling ionization in an elliptically polarized laser field is investigated theoretically using a relativistic Coulomb-corrected strong-field approximation (SFA) based on the eikonal approximation of the Klein-Gordon equation. We calculate attoclock angle-resolved light-front momentum distributions at different ellipticities of the laser field in quasistatic and nonadiabatic regimes and analyze them with an improved Simpleman model. The nondipole correlations between longitudinal and transverse momentum components are examined. Deviations of the photoelectr…
Interaction of a strong laser pulse with matter transfers not only energy but also linear momentum of the photons. Recent experimental advances have made it possible to detect the small amount of linear momentum delivered to the photoelectrons in strong-field ionization of atoms. We present numerical simulations as well as an analytical description of the subcycle phase (or time) resolved momentum transfer to an atom accessible by an attoclock protocol. We show that the light-field-induced momentum transfer is remarkably sensitive to properties of the ultrashort laser pulse such as its carrier…
If the photon energy is much less than the electron binding energy, ionization of an atom by a strong optical field is often described in terms of electron tunneling through the potential barrier resulting from the superposition of the atomic potential and the potential associated with the instantaneous electric component of the optical field. In the strict tunneling regime, the electron response to the optical field is said to be adiabatic, and nonadiabatic effects are assumed to be negligible. Here, we investigate to what degree this terminology is consistent with a language based on the so-…
We demonstrate that ultrashort pulses carry the possibility for a new regime of light-matter interaction with nonadiabatic electron processes sensitive to the envelope-derivative of the light pulse. A standard single pulse with its two peaks in the derivative separated by the width of the pulse acts in this regime like a traditional double pulse. The two ensuing nonadiabatic ionization bursts have slightly different ionization amplitudes. This difference is due to redistribution of continuum electron energy during the bursts, negligible in standard photo-ionization. A time-dependent close- cou…
Tunneling ionization of an atom in ultrashort laser pulses is considered. When the driving laser pulse is switched-on and -off with a steep slope, the photoelectron momentum distribution (PMD) shows an edge-effect because of the photoelectron diffraction by the time-slit of the pulse. The trivial diffraction pattern of the edge effect consisting of fast oscillations in the PMD disguises in the deep nonadiabatic regime the physically more interesting features in the spectrum which originate from the photoelectron dynamics. We point out the precise conditions how to avoid this scenario experimen…
Dynamic stabilization of atomic hydrogen against ionization in high-frequency single- and two-color, circularly polarized laser pulses is observed by numerically solving the three-dimensional, time-dependent Schrödinger equation. The single-color case is revisited and numerically determined ionization rates are compared with both, exact and approximate high-frequency Floquet rates. The position of the peaks in the photoelectron spectra can be explained with the help of dressed initial states. In two-color laser fields of opposite circular polarization the stabilized probability density may be …
The measurement of the tunneling time in attosecond experiments, termed attoclock, triggered a hot debate about the tunneling time, the role of time in quantum mechanics, where the interaction with the laser pulse involves two regimes of a different character, the multiphoton and the tunneling (field-) ionization. In the adiabatic field calibration, one of us (O. K.) developed in earlier works a real tunneling time model and showed that the model fits well to the experimental data of Landsmann et al. (Optica {\bf 1}, 343 2014). In the present work, it is shown that the model explains the exper…
Phase-of-the-phase spectroscopy using two-color colinearly polarized laser pulses has been introduced and experimentally applied to strong-field tunneling ionization in S. Skruszewicz et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 115, 043001 (2015) and recently to multiphoton ionization in M. A. Almajid et al., J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys. 50, 194001 (2017). The idea behind phase-of-the-phase spectroscopy is to study in a systematic way the change in the photoelectron yield as a function of the relative phase between the strong fundamental field component (of carrier frequency $ω$) and a weak, second color comp…
We show that the combination of two achiral components - atomic or molecular target plus a circularly polarized photon - can yield chirally structured photoelectron angular distributions. For photoionization of CO, the angular distribution of carbon K-shell photoelectrons is chiral when the molecular axis is neither perpendicular nor (anti-)parallel to the light propagation axis. In photo-double-ionization of He, the distribution of one electron is chiral, if the other electron is oriented like the molecular axis in the former case and if the electrons are distinguishable by their energy. In b…
We report on the appearance of a structure at low energies in the photo-electron momentum distribution of the hydrogen atom exposed to two-color counter-rotating bi-circular laser fields. These structures, which arise due to AC-Stark shifted resonances, break the three-fold symmetry, typical for the $ω-2ω$ bi-circular fields. We discuss the physical origin of this structure in terms of partial-wave interference between direct ionization channels and a resonant pathway, that passes through the AC-Stark shifted state and show how the underlying Rydberg state population depend on the field streng…
Intense attosecond magnetic field pulses are predicted to be produced by intense few cycle circularly polarized UV pulses. Numerical solutions of the time dependent Schrödinger equation for H$_2^+$ are used to study the dynamical process. Spiralling attosecond circular electron wave packets are created with nanometer molecular dimensions, thus generating magnetic fields of several tens of Teslas ($10^5$ Gauss). Simulations show that the induced magnetic field is critically dependent on the pulse wavelength $λ$ and pulse duration $nτ$ ($n$ number of cycle) as predicted by a classical model. For…
Ionization by relativistically intense laser pulses of finite duration is considered in the framework of strong-field quantum electrodynamics. Our main focus is on the formation of ionization supercontinua. More specifically, when studying the energy distributions of photoelectrons ionized by circularly polarized pulses, we observe the appearance of broad structures lacking the interference patterns. These supercontinua extend over hundreds of driving photon energies, thus corresponding to high-order nonlinear processes. The corresponding polar-angle distributions show asymmetries which are at…
We report on a kinematically complete measurement of double ionization of helium by a single 1100 eV circularly polarized photon. By exploiting dipole selection rules in the two-electron continuum state, we observed the angular emission pattern of electrons originating from a pure quadrupole transition. Our fully differential experimental data and companion ab initio nonperturbative theory show the separation of dipole and quadrupole contributions to photo-double-ionization and provide new insight into the nature of the quasifree mechanism.
The total ionization rate of biharmonic ($ω+ 3ω$) ionization is studied within the independent particle approximation and the third order perturbation theory. Particular attention is paid to how the polarization of the biharmonic light field affects the total rate. The ratios of the biharmonic ionization rates for linearly and circularly polarized beams as well as for corotating and counterrotating elliptically polarized beams are analyzed, and how they depend on the beam parameters, such as photon frequency or phase between $ω$ and $3ω$ light beams. We show that the interference of the biharm…
The ionization energy of D$_2$ has been determined experimentally from measurements involving two-photon Doppler-free vacuum-ultraviolet pulsed laser excitation and near-infrared continuous-wave laser excitation to yield $E_\mathrm{I}(\mathrm{D}_2)=124\,745.393\,739(26)$ \wn. From this value, the dissociation energy of D$_2$ is deduced to be $D_0$(D$_2$) = 36\,748.362\,282(26) \wn, representing a 25-fold improvement over previous values, and found in good agreement (at $1.6σ$) with recent ab initio calculations of the 4-particle nonadiabatic relativistic energy and of quantum-electrodynamic co…
Recent experiments [D. Pengel, S. Kerbstadt, L. Englert, T. Bayer, and M. Wollenhaupt, \href{https://journals.aps.org/pra/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevA.96.043426}{{\PRA} {\bf 96} 043426 (2017)}] have measured the photoelectron momentum distribution for three-photon ionization of potassium by counter-rotating circularly polarized 790-nm laser pulses. The distribution displays spiral vortices, arising from the interference of ionizing wavepackets with different magnetic quantum numbers. The high level of multidimensional detail observed in the distribution makes this an ideal case in which to demons…
We report on three-dimensional (3D) electron momentum distributions from single ionization of helium by a laser pulse consisting of two counterrotating circularly polarized fields (390 nm and 780 nm). A pronounced 3D low energy structure and sub-cycle interferences are observed experimentally and reproduced numerically using a trajectory based semi-classical simulation. The orientation of the low energy structure in the polarization plane is verified by numerical simulations solving the time dependent Schrödinger equation.
A way to considerably enhance terahertz radiation, emitted in the interaction of intense mid-infrared laser pulses with atomic gases, in both the total energy and the electric-field amplitude is suggested. The scheme is based on the application of a two-color field consisting of a strong circularly polarized mid-infrared pulse with wavelengths of $1.6÷4\,μ{\rm m}$ and its linearly or circularly polarized second harmonic of lower intensity. By combining the strong-field approximation for the ionization of a single atom with particle-in-cell simulations of the collective dynamics of the generate…
We describe numerically the ionization process induced by linearly and circularly polarized XUV attosecond laser pulses on an aligned atomic target, specifically, the excited state Ne$^*(1s^22s^22p^5[{}^2\text{P}^\text{o}_{1/2}]3s[^1\text{P}^o])$. We compute the excited atomic state by applying the time-dependent restricted-active-space self-consistent field (TD-RASSCF) method to fully account for the electronic correlation. We find that correlation-assisted ionization channels can dominate over channels accessible without correlation. We also observe that the rotation of the photoelectron mom…
High harmonic generation in benzene is studied using a mixed quantum-classical approach in which the electrons are described using time-dependent density functional theory while the ions move classically. The interaction with both circularly and linearly polarised infra-red ($λ= 800$ nm) laser pulses of duration 10 cycles (26.7 fs) is considered. The effect of allowing the ions to move is investigated as is the effect of including self-interaction corrections to the exchange-correlation functional. Our results for circularly polarised pulses are compared with previous calculations in which the…
Ionization of hydrogen-like ions by intense, circularly polarized laser pulses is analyzed under the scope of the relativistic strong-field approximation. We show that, for specific parameters of the laser field, the energy spectra of photoelectrons present a broad region without interference (supercontinuum) which can be controlled by modifying the laser field intensity. The physical interpretation of the process is developed according to the Keldysh theory, emphasizing the importance of the complex-time saddle point contributions to the total probability of photoionization. The corresponding…
In this paper a 4-component Dirac theory of ionization of hydrogen molecular ion in a super-intense laser field is developed. Simple analytic expressions for the spin specific as well as the total ionization currents emitted from the ground state of the ion are derived. The results are given for all polarization and finite propagation vectors of the field. They apply for inner-shell ionization of analogous heavier molecular ions as well. The presence of molecular two-slit interference effect, first found in the non-relativistic case, and the spin-flip ionization current, and an asymmetry of th…
It has been shown that for nonlinear atomic ionization, transfer of the degree of circular polarization from incident to fluorescence light is maximum at the Cooper minimum (see Phys. Rev. A \textbf{100}, 011401(R) (2019)). Until the present, however, it is still a challenge to produce and detect circularly-polarized light at xuv and x-ray photon energies. We here show, that transfer of linear polarization is strongly enhanced at the Cooper minimum in two-photon ionization and can be readily detected using current free-electron laser facilities by measurements of the degree of linear polarizat…
Within the framework of the coplanar binary geometry where it is justified to use plane wave solutions for the study of the $(e,2e)$ reaction and in the presence of a circularly polarized laser field, we introduce as a first step the DVRPWBA1 (Dirac-Volkov Plane Wave Born Approximation1) where we take into account only the relativistic dressing of the incident and scattered electrons. Then, we introduce the DVRPWBA2 (Dirac-Volkov Plane Wave Born Approximation2) where we take totally into account the relativistic dressing of the incident, scattered and ejected electrons. We then compare the cor…
The spin polarization of electrons from multiphoton ionization of Xe by 395 nm circularly polarized laser pulses at $6\cdot10^{13}$ W/cm$^2$ has been measured. At this photon energy of 3.14 eV the above threshold ionization peaks connected to Xe$^+$ ions in the ground state ($J=3/2$, ionization potential $I_p=12.1$ eV) and the first exicted state ($J=1/2$, $I_p=13.4$ eV) are clearly separated in the electron energy distribution. These two combs of ATI peaks show opposite spin polarizations. The magnitude of the spin polarization is a factor of two higher for the $J=1/2$ than for the $J=3/2$ fi…
For a circularly polarized single-color field at a central frequency of $2ω$ the final electron momentum distribution upon strong field ionization does not carry any information about the phase of the initial momentum distribution. Adding a weak, co-rotating, circularly polarized field at a central frequency of $ω$ gives rise to a sub-cycle interference pattern (holographic angular streaking of electrons (HASE)). This interference pattern allows for the retrieval of the derivative of the phase of the initial momentum distribution after tunneling $ϕ^{\prime}_{\mathrm{off}}(p_i)$. A trajectory-b…
We report a novel experimental technique for the comparison of ionization processes in ultrafast laser pulses irrespective of pulse ellipticity. Multiple ionization of xenon by 50 fs 790 nm, linearly and circularly polarized laser pulses is observed over the intensity range 10 TW/cm^2 to 10 PW/cm^2 using Effective Intensity Matching (EIM), which is coupled with Intensity Selective Scanning (ISS) to recover the geometry-independent probability of ionization. Such measurements, made possible by quantifying diffraction effects in the laser focus, are compared directly to theoretical predictions o…
In few-cycle pulses, the exact value of the carrier-envelope phase difference (CEPD) has a pronounced influence on the ionization dynamics of atoms and molecules. We show that for atoms in circularly polarized light, a change in the CEPD is mapped uniquely to an overall rotation of the system, and results for arbitrary CEPD are obtained by rotation of the results from a single calculation with fixed CEPD. For molecules this is true only for linear molecules aligned parallel with the propagation direction of the field. The effects of CEPD are classified as geometric or non-geometric. The observ…
We coincidently measure the molecular frame photoelectron angular distribution and the ion sum-momentum distribution of single and double ionization of CO molecules by using circularly and elliptically polarized femtosecond laser pulses, respectively. The orientation dependent ionization rates for various kinetic energy releases allow us to individually identify the ionizations of multiple orbitals, ranging from the highest occupied to the next two lower-lying molecular orbitals for various channels observed in our experiments. Not only the emission of a single electron, but also the sequentia…
The combination of photoelectron spectroscopy and ultrafast light sources is on track to set new standards for detailed interrogation of dynamics and reactivity of molecules. A crucial prerequisite for further progress is the ability to not only detect the electron kinetic energy, as done in traditional photoelectron spectroscopy, but also the photoelectron angular distributions (PADs) in the molecular frame. Here carbonylsulfide (OCS) and benzonitrile molecules, fixed in space by combined laser and electrostatic fields, are ionized with intense, circularly polarized, 30 femtosecond laser puls…
