The carriers of the 21 and 30\,$μ$m emission features in infrared spectra of circumstellar envelopes are a long-standing enigma. In this paper, we present the results of molecular line observations toward two circumstellar envelopes exhibiting the 21 and/or 30\,$μ$m features, IRAS\,21318+5631 and 22272+5435, aiming at investigating whether they have unusual gas-phase chemistry and searching for possible gas-phase precursor of the carriers of the two dust features. The spectra cover several discrete frequency ranges of 130--164\,GHz and 216.5--273\,GHz, resulting in a detection of 13 molecular species and isotopologues in each object. Rotation-diagram analysis is carried out to determine the molecular abundances, column densities, and excitation temperatures. We did not discover any molecular species that is unexpected in a normal C-rich star. Nevertheless, there exists subtle difference between their molecular abundances. IRAS\,22272+5435 shows stronger SiC$_2$ and HC$_3$N lines and weaker SiS lines than IRAS\,21318+5631, presumably suggesting that this 21\,$μ$m source is more carbon rich and has experienced a more efficient dust formation. We discuss the potential implications of the results for the carriers of the 21\,$μ$m and 30\,$μ$m features.
We present an analysis of the region IRAS 08589-4714 with the aim of characterizing the molecular environment. We observed the CO(3-2), ^{13}CO(3-2), C^{18}O(3-2), HCO+(3-2), and HCN(3-2) molecular lines in a region of 150" x 150", centered on the IRAS source, to analyze the distribution and characteristics of the molecular gas linked to the IRAS source. The molecular gas distribution reveals a molecular clump that is coincident with IRAS 08589-4714 and with a dust clump detected at 1.2 mm. The molecular clump is 0.45 pc in radius and its mass and H_2 volume density are 310 Mo and 1.2 x 10^4 c…
We present an analysis of the IRAS 08589-4714 star-forming region. This region harbors candidate young stellar objects identified in the WISE and Herschel images using color index criteria and spectral energy distributions (SEDs). The SEDs of some of the infrared sources and the 70 microns radial intensity profile of the brightest source (IRS 1) are modeled from Herschel fluxes using the one-dimensional radiative transfer DUSTY code. For these objects, we estimate the envelope masses, sizes, densities, and luminosities which suggest that they are very young, massive and luminous objects at ear…
Context. IRAS 19312+1950 is an isolated infrared source that exhibits a characteristic quasi-point-symmetric morphology in the near- and mid-infrared images and is also very bright in molecular radio lines. Because of its unique observational characteristics, various observational studies have been conducted and several hypotheses have been proposed regarding its origin, which is still unclear. So far, it has been suggested that it could be a peculiar evolved star, a young stellar object, or even a red nova remnant. Regardless of which type of object it is ultimately classified as, IRAS 19312+…
We present Submillimeter Array (SMA) observations toward the high-mass star-forming region IRAS 18566+0408. Observations at 1.3 mm continuum and in several molecular line transitions were performed in the compact (2."4 angular resolution) and very-extended (~0."4 angular resolution) configurations. The continuum emission from the compact configuration shows a dust core of 150 Msun, while the very-extended configuration reveals a dense (2.6 x 10^7 cm^-3) and compact (~4,000 AU) condensation of 8 Msun. We detect 31 molecular transitions from 14 species including CO isotopologues, SO, CH3OH, OCS,…
The high-velocity molecular jet driven by Class 0 protostar IRAS 04166+2706 exhibits a unique saw-tooth velocity pattern. It consists of a series of well-aligned symmetric knots with similar averaged speeds, whose speeds at peaks of emission decreases roughly linearly away from the origin. Recent ALMA observations of knots R6 and B6 reveal kinematic behavior with expansion velocity increasing linearly from the axis to the edge. This pattern can be formed by a spherically expanding wind with axial density concentration. In this picture, the diverging velocity profile naturally possesses an incr…
We present the investigation results of structure and stellar content of a molecular cloud surrounding the five IRAS sources: 05168+3634, 05184+3635, 05177+3636, 05162+3639, and IRAS 05156+3643. Using multi-color criteria, we identified a rich population of embedded YSO candidates with infrared excess (Class 0/I and Class II) and their characteristics in a quite large molecular cloud which is located in the region of 24 arcmin radius. The molecular cloud includes 240 candidates of YSOs within the radii of sub-regions around 5 IRAS sources. The color-magnitude diagrams of the sub-regions sugges…
We present molecular line observations of the high-mass molecular clump IRAS 16562$-$3959 taken at 3 mm using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) at 1.$\!\!^{\prime\prime}$7 angular resolution ($0.014$ pc spatial resolution). This clump hosts the actively accreting high-mass young stellar object (HMYSO) G345.4938+01.4677, associated with a hypercompact HII region. We identify and analyze emission lines from 22 molecular species (encompassing 34 isomers) and classify them into two groups, depending on their spatial distribution within the clump. One of these groups gathers s…
In this work we aimed to describe the three-dimensional morphology and kinematics of the molecular gas of the water-fountain nebula IRAS 16342-3814. In order to do this, we retrieved data from the ALMA archive to analyse it using a simple spatio-kinematical model. We used the software SHAPE to construct a three-dimensional spatio-kinematical model of the molecular gas in IRAS 16342-3814. By reproducing the intensity distribution and position-velocity diagram of the CO emission from the ALMA observations we derived the morphology and velocity field of the gas. We used CO(1-0) data to support th…

We present new criteria for selecting HII regions from the Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS) Point Source catalogue (PSC), based on an HII region catalogue derived manually from the all-sky Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). The criteria are used to augment the number of HII region candidates in the Milky Way. The criteria are defined by the linear decision boundary of two samples: IRAS point sources associated with known HII regions, which serve as the HII region sample, and IRAS point sources at high Galactic latitudes, which serve as the non-HII region sample. A machine learni…
We report the results of a wide field CO mapping in the region of IRAS 19312+1950. This IRAS object exhibits SiO/H$_2$O/OH maser emission, and is embedded in a chemically-rich molecular component, of which the origin is still unknown. In order to reveal the entire structure and gas mass of the surrounding molecular component for the first time, we have mapped a wide region around IRAS 19312+1950 in the $^{12}$CO $J=1-0$, $^{13}$CO $J=1-0$ and C$^{18}$O $J=1-0$ lines using the Nobeyama 45m telescope. In conjunction with the archival CO maps, we investigated a region with a size up to $20' \time…
IRAS 09002-4732 is a poorly studied embedded cluster of stars in the Vela Molecular Ridge at a distance of 1.7kpc. Deep observations with the Chandra X-ray Observatory, combined with existing optical and infrared surveys, produce a catalog of 441 probable pre-main sequence members of the region. The stellar spatial distribution has two components: most stars reside in a rich, compact, elliptical cluster, but a minority reside within a molecular filament several parsecs long that straddles the cluster. The filament has active distributed star formation with dozens of unclustered protostars. The…
We have imaged 15 molecular-line emissions and the dust continuum emission around the Class 0 protostellar source, IRAS 15398-3359, with ALMA. The outflow structure is mainly traced by the H2CO (K_a=0 and 1), CCH, and CS emissions. These lines also trace the disk/envelope structure around the protostar. The H2CO (K_a=2 and 3), CH3OH, and SO emissions are concentrated toward the protostar, while the DCN emission is more extended around the protostar. We have performed the principal component analysis (PCA) for these distributions on the two different scales, the outflow and the disk/envelope st…
We present interferometric and single-dish molecular line observations of the interstellar bullet-outflow source IRAS 05506+2414, whose wide-angle bullet spray is similar to the Orion BN/KL explosive outflow and likely arises from an entirely different mechanism than the classical accretion-disk-driven bipolar flows in young stellar objects. The bullet-outflow source is associated with a large pseudo-disk and three molecular outflows -- a high-velocity outflow (HVO), a medium-velocity outflow (MVO), and a slow, extended outflow (SEO). The size (mass) of the pseudo-disk is 10,350 AU x 6,400 AU …
