We discuss the notion of a q-PD-envelope considered by Bhatt and Scholze in their recent theory of q-crystalline cohomology and explain the relation with our notion of a divided polynomial twisted algebra. Together with an interpretation of crystals on the q-crystalline site, that we call q-crystals, as modules endowed with some kind of stratification, it allows us to associate a module on the ring of twisted differential operators to any q-crystal. For simplicity, we explain here only the one dimensional case.
We introduce twisted differential calculus of negative level and prove a descent theorem: Frobenius pullback provides an equivalence between finitely presented modules endowed with a topologically quasi-nilpotent twisted connection of level minus one and those of level zero. We explain how this is related to the existence of a Cartier operator on prismatic crystals. For the sake of readability, we limit ourselves to the case of dimension one.
In this note we extend the dimension theory for the spaces $\widetilde{\mathcal H}_g^k(μ)$ of twisted $k$-differentials defined by Farkas and Pandharipande in [FP15] to the case $k>1$. In particular, we show that the intersection $\widetilde{\mathcal H}_g^k(μ) \cap \mathcal{M}_{g,n}$ is a union of smooth components of the expected dimensions for all $k\geq 0$. We also extend a conjectural formula from [FP15] for a weighted fundamental class of $\widetilde{\mathcal H}_g^k(μ)$ and provide evidence in low genus.
A twisted ring is a ring endowed with a family of endomorphisms satisfying certain relations. One may then consider the notions of twisted module and twisted differential module. We study them and show that, under some general hypothesis, the categories of twisted modules and integrable twisted differential modules are equivalent. As particular cases, one recovers classical results from the theory of finite difference equations or q-difference equations.
We prove that the Hilbert scheme of degeneracy loci of pairs of global sections of Omega(2), the twisted cotangent bundle on P^(n-1), is unirational and dominated by the Grassmannian of lines in the projective space of skew-symmetric forms over a vector space of dimension n. We provide a constructive method to find the fibers of the dominant map. In classical terminology, this amounts to giving a method to realize all the pencils of linear line complexes having a prescribed set of centers. In particular, we show that the previous map is birational when n=4.
We prove that, for 3 < m < n-1, the Grassmannian of m-dimensional subspaces of the space of skew-symmetric forms over a vector space of dimension n is birational to the Hilbert scheme of the degeneracy loci of m global sections of Omega(2), the twisted cotangent bundle on P^{n-1}. For 3=m<n-1 and n odd, this Grassmannian is proved to be birational to the set of Veronese surfaces parametrized by the Pfaffians of linear skew-symmetric matrices of order n.
Using stable log maps, we introduce log twisted differentials extending the notion of abelian differentials to the Deligne-Mumford boundary of stable curves. The moduli stack of log twisted differentials provides a compactification of the strata of abelian differentials. The open strata can have up to three connected components, due to spin and hyperelliptic structures. We prove that the spin parity can be distinguished on the boundary of the log compactification. Moreover, combining the techniques of log geometry and admissible covers, we introduce log twisted hyperelliptic differentials, and…
We establish a version of Kashiwara's theorem for twisted sheaves of Berthelot's arithmetic differential operators for a closed immersion between smooth p-adic formal schemes. As an application, we construct simple modules for crystalline distribution algebras of reductive groups using the twisted version of the crystalline localisation theorem.
We show that, given a projective regular function f on a smooth quasi-projective variety over C, the corresponding cohomology groups of the algebraic de Rham complex with twisted differential d-df and of the complex of algebraic forms with differential df have the same dimension (a result announced by Barannikov and Kontsevitch). We generalize the result to de Rham complexes with coefficients in a mixed Hodge Module.
Discussed here is descent theory in the differential context where everything is equipped with a differential operator. To answer a question personally posed by A. Pianzola, we determine all twisted forms of the differential Lie algebras over $\mathbb{C}(t)$ associated with complex simple Lie algebras. Hopf-Galois Theory, a ring-theoretic counterpart of theory of torsors for group schemes, plays a role when we grasp the above-mentioned twisted forms from torsors.
We introduce the notion of a twisted differential operator of given radius relative to an endomorphism $$σ$$ of an affinoid algebra A. We show that this notion is essentially independent of the choice of the endomorphism $$σ$$. As a particular case, we obtain an explicit equivalence between modules endowed with a usual integrable connection (i.e. differential systems) and modules endowed with a $$σ$$-connection of the same radius (i.e. q-difference systems). Moreover, this equivalence preserves cohomology and in particular solutions.

The main goal of this paper is to prove the Schmidt--Kolchin conjecture. This conjecture says the following: the vector space of degree \(d\) differentially homogeneous polynomials in \((N+1)\) variables is of dimension \((N+1)^{d}\). Next, we establish a one-to-one correspondance between differentially homogeneous polynomials in \((N+1)\) variables, and twisted jet differentials on projective spaces. As a by-product of our study of differentially homogeneous polynomials, we are thus able to understand explicitly twisted jet differentials on projective spaces.
This paper contains three new results. {\bf 1}.We introduce new notions of projective crystalline representations and twisted periodic Higgs-de Rham flows. These new notions generalize crystalline representations of étale fundamental groups introduced in [7,10] and periodic Higgs-de Rham flows introduced in [19]. We establish an equivalence between the categories of projective crystalline representations and twisted periodic Higgs-de Rham flows via the category of twisted Fontaine-Faltings module which is also introduced in this paper. {\bf 2.}We study the base change of these objects over ver…
We propose a notion of algebra of {\it twisted} chiral differential operators over algebraic manifolds with vanishing 1st Pontrjagin class. We show that such algebras possess families of modules depending on infinitely many complex parameters, which we classify in terms of the corresponding algebra of twisted differential operators. If the underlying manifold is a flag manifold, our construction recovers modules over an affine Lie algebra parameterized by opers over the Langlands dual Lie algebra. The spaces of global sections of "smallest" such modules are irreducible $\ghat$-modules and all …
In this short notes, we prove a stronger version of Theorem 0.6 in our previous paper arXiv:1709.01485: Given a smooth log scheme $(\mathcal{X} \supset \mathcal{D})_{W(\mathbb{F}_q)}$, each stable twisted $f$-periodic logarithmic Higgs bundle $(E,θ)$ over the closed fiber $(X \supset D)_{\mathbb{F}_q}$ will correspond to a $\mathrm{PGL}_r(\mathbb{F}_{p^f})$-crystalline representation of $π_1((\mathcal{X} \setminus \mathcal{D})_{W(\mathbb{F}_q)[\frac{1}{p}]})$ such that its restriction to the geometric fundamental group is absolutely irreducible.
Consider degenerations of Abelian differentials with prescribed number and multiplicity of zeros and poles. Motivated by the theory of limit linear series, we define twisted canonical divisors on pointed nodal curves to study degenerate differentials, give dimension bounds for their moduli spaces, and establish smoothability criteria. As applications, we show that the spin parity of holomorphic and meromorphic differentials extends to distinguish twisted canonical divisors in the locus of stable pointed curves of pseudocompact type. We also justify whether zeros and poles on general curves in …
Deligne cohomology can be viewed as a differential refinement of integral cohomology, hence captures both topological and geometric information. On the other hand, it can be viewed as the simplest nontrivial version of a differential cohomology theory. While more involved differential cohomology theories have been explicitly twisted, the same has not been done to Deligne cohomology, although existence is known at a general abstract level. We work out what it means to twist Deligne cohomology, by taking degree one twists of both integral cohomology and de Rham cohomology. We present the main pr…
In this paper, we study the perturbative aspects of a twisted version of the two-dimensional $(0,2)$ heterotic sigma model on a holomorphic gauge bundle $\mathcal E$ over a complex, hermitian manifold $X$. We show that the model can be naturally described in terms of the mathematical theory of ``Chiral Differential Operators". In particular, the physical anomalies of the sigma model can be reinterpreted in terms of an obstruction to a global definition of the associated sheaf of vertex superalgebras derived from the free conformal field theory describing the model locally on $X$. One can also …
We define unbounded twisted complexes and bicomplexes generalising the notion of a (bounded) twisted complex over a DG category [BK90]. These need to be considered relative to another DG category $B$ admitting countable direct sums and shifts. The resulting DG category of unbounded twisted complexes has a fully faithful convolution functor into Mod-$B$ which filters through $B$ if the latter admits change of differential. As an application, we rewrite definitions of $A_{\infty}$-structures in terms of twisted complexes to make them work in an arbitrary monoidal DG category or a DG bicategory.
Degree one twisting of Deligne cohomology, as a differential refinement of integral cohomology, was established in previous work. Here we consider higher degree twists. The Rham complex, hence de Rham cohomology, admits twists of any odd degree. However, in order to consider twists of integral cohomology we need a periodic version. Combining the periodic versions of both ingredients leads us to introduce a periodic form of Deligne cohomology. We demonstrate that this theory indeed admits a twist by a gerbe of any odd degree. We present the main properties of the new theory and illustrate its u…
