In this work, we provide a simultaneous and accurate description of the $π^+π^-$ and $π^{\pm} J/ψ$ invariant mass distributions of the recent BESIII data on $e^+ e^- \to J/ψ\; π^+ π^-$ together with the $e^+ e^- \to J/ψ\; K^+K^-$ cross sections at $e^+e^-$ center-of-mass energies $q=4.23$ GeV and $q=4.26$ GeV. The rescattering effects between pions in the S and D-waves are taken into account through the Muskhelishvili-Omnès formalism. Since the physical region of the $ππ$ invariant mass extends above 1 GeV, the important $K\bar{K}$ intermediate state in the S-wave is implemented through coupled-channel unitarity. For the left-hand cuts, we account for the well established charged exotic state $Z_c(3900)$ in $t$- and $u$-channels, while the other contributions are absorbed in the subtraction constants. For the $e^+ e^- \to J/ψ\, K \bar{K}$ we provide the prediction of the two-kaon invariant mass distribution. The constructed amplitudes serve as an essential framework to interpret the present and forthcoming measurements by the BESIII and Belle II Collaborations.
Despite the apparent simplicity of meson spectroscopy there are some states which cannot be accommodated in the usual $q\bar q$ structure. Among them there are either exotic states as the X(1600), or the recently measured charmed states $D_{sJ}^*$ and some of the light scalar mesons. We present a description of the light scalar mesons in terms of $q\bar q$ and $qq\bar q\bar q$ components.
The process of baryon production in K p collisions at high energies is considered in the framework of the Quark-Gluon String Model. The contribution of the string-junction mechanism to the strange baryon production is analysed. The results of numerical calculations are in reasonable agreement with the data on inclusive spectra of p, Lambda, bar{Lambda}, and on the bar{Lambda}/Lambda asymmetry. The predictions for Xi and Omega baryons are presented.
In this talk we address two topics: The first one is an empirical explanation in terms of a new state $h_1$ of the peak in the $K^{*0}\bar{K}^{*0}$ invariant mass distribution close to threshold of this channel in the $J/ψ\to ηK^{*0}\bar{K}^{*0}$ decay. The second one is a theoretical description of the isospin $I=1$ $Z_c(3900)$ and $Z_c(4020)$ states in terms of molecular states of $D \bar D^*+ cc$ and $D^* \bar D^*$.
A version of the bound state soliton model which allows both $η$ and $K$ bound states is used to study low partial wave octet baryon resonances. It is found that negative parity $S-$wave resonances are well described within this framework. A possible interpretation of the $P-$wave resonances is also discussed.
Recent lattice QCD calculations suggest a rather abrupt transition in the confinig potential from a linear to a constant behavior. We analyze the effects of such a fast deconfinement in the simplest non-relativistic system, bottomonium.
Decays $J/ψ\to B\bar B$ into octet baryon-antibaryons pairs are studied within the QCD factorisation framework. The next-to-leading power correction to the leading-order decay amplitude is calculated for the first time. The phenomenological analysis also includes the interference with the electromagnetic decay $J/ψ\to γ^*\to B\bar B$. The branching fractions and the angular coefficients $α_B$ are described with an accuracy of about $20\%$. The obtained results allow us to conclude that the calculated amplitudes provide a dominant contribution and therefore QCD factorisation provides a suitable…
Recent data on $B$ meson mixings and decays are, in general, in accord with the standard model expectations, except showing a few hiccups: (i) a large phase in $B_s$ mixing, (ii) a significant difference ($> 3.5 σ$) between CP-asymmetries in $B^\pm \to π^0 K^\pm$ and $B_d \to π^\mp K^\pm$ channels, and (iii) a larger than expected branching ratio in $B_d \to π^0π^0$ channel. We show that selective baryon number violating Yukawa couplings in R-parity violating supersymmetry can reconcile all the measurements.
We discuss QCD radiative corrections to the production of a heavy neutral resonance $Z'$ at the LHC assuming that it decays into a $ t\bar t$ final state. Compared to previous studies, our computation includes top quark decays as well as interference between the $Z'$ signal process and the QCD $t \bar t$ background. The interference contribution appears for the first time at next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD and requires new one-loop amplitudes that are not present when signal and background are treated separately. We describe some examples of how QCD radiative corrections may influence both the…
There are two available set of data on the $e^+e^- \rightarrow Λ^+_c \barΛ_c^-$ cross section above threshold. The BELLE measurement, with ISR return, is compatible with the presence of a resonant state, called $ψ(4660)$ (formerly known as $Y(4660)$), observed also in other final states. The BESIII dataset has shown a different trend, with a flat cross section. We propose a new solution to fit both datasets by means of a strong correction to the Coulomb enhancement factor. Mass and width of the resonant state is extracted.
The two key observables related to heavy quarks that have been measured in RHIC and LHC energies are the nuclear suppression factor $R_{AA}$ and the elliptic flow $v_2$. Simultaneous description of these two observables is a top challenge for all the existing models. We have highlighted how a consistent combination of four ingredients i.e the temperature dependence of the energy loss, full solution of the Boltzmann collision integral for the momentum evolution of heavy quark, hadronization by coalescence, then the hadronic rescattering, responsible to address a large part of such a puzzle. We …
We propose an experimental test of a scenario in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model in which both the lightest scalar and the lightest pseudoscalar Higgs bosons have masses around 125 GeV. The pseudoscalar can contribute significantly to the gamma.gamma rate at the LHC due to light Higgsino-like charginos in its effective one-loop coupling to two photons. Such charginos are obtained for small values of the mu_eff parameter which also results in enhanced b.b-bar and tau+.tau- rates compared to those expected for a Standard Model Higgs boson. This scenario should result in a clear…
The formalism for uniform description of Drell-Yan transverse-momentum spectrum is presented in a framework of High-Energy Factorization, which smoothly interpolates between Collins-Soper-Sterman formalism at $|{\bf q}_T|\ll Q$ and usual Collinear Parton Model at $|{\bf q}_T|\sim Q\ll \sqrt{S}$. The new formula for deriving Unintegrated Parton Distribution Functions(UPDFs) from collinear ones is introduced, which leads to excellent description of the shape of $Z$-boson $|{\bf q}_T|$-spectrum at high energies up to $|{\bf q}_T|/\sqrt{S}\simeq 0.02$. Description of normalized $|{\bf q}_T|$-distr…
Within a theoretical framework that accounts for all open-charm mesons, including the $D_0^*(2308)$, the $D_{sJ}^*(2317)$ and the $D_{sJ}(2460)$, we analyze the structure and explore possible quantum number assignments for the $D_{sJ}(2860)$ and the $D_{sJ}(2700)$ mesons reported by BABAR and Belle Collaborations. The open-charm sector is properly described if considered as a combination of conventional quark-antiquark states and four--quark components. All negative parity and $2^+$ states can be understood in terms only of $q\bar q$ components, however the description of the $0^+$ and $1^+$ m…
We review the application of perturbative QCD to diffractive processes. We introduce the two gluon exchange model to describe diffractive qq(bar) and qq(bar)g production in deep inelastic scattering. We study the triple Regge limit and briefly consider multiple gluon exchange. We discuss diffractive vector meson production at HERA both at t = 0 and large |t|. We demonstrate the non-factorization of diffractive processes at hadron colliders.
By using the cross sections of e^+e^- \to p\bar{p}π^0 measured at the center-of-mass energies from 3.65 to 4.60 GeV, we find that the line shape well agrees with pure continuum production parametrized by a power law function and the significance of both ψ(3770) and ψ(4230) \to p\bar{p}π^0 is less than 0.4σ. We set more stringent constraints on the charmless decays of the charmonium state, ψ(3770), and the charmoniumlike state, ψ(4230), to p\bar{p}π^0 than in previous measurements. The data are also used to estimate the cross sections of p\bar{p} \to π^0ψ(3770) and p\bar{p} \to π^0ψ(4230) that …
It has been suggested that the radiative $X \to D \bar D γ$ decay modes are useful to shed light on the structure of the meson X(3872), since the ratio $ R={Γ(X \to D^+ D^- γ) \over Γ(X \to D^0 \bar D^0 γ)}$ is expected to be small ($R \ll 1$) if $X$ is a molecular $D^{*0} \bar D^0$ state. We compute $R$ in a $\bar c c$ $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ description of $X$ finding that it is tiny in a wide range of hadronic parameters governing the decay. A discrimination between the molecular and $\bar c c$ description can be obtained through the analysis of the photon spectrum.
We study the $ρK\bar{K}$ system with an aim to describe the $ρ(1700)$ resonance. The chiral unitary approach has achieved success in a description of systems of the light hadron sector. With this method, the $K \bar{K}$ system in the isospin sector $I=0$, is found to be a dominant component of the $f_0 (980)$ resonance. Therefore, by regarding the $K\bar{K}$ system as a cluster, the $f_0 (980)$ resonance, we evaluate the $ρK\bar{K}$ system applying the fixed center approximation to the Faddeev equations. We construct the $ρK$ unitarized amplitude using the chiral unitary approach. As a result,…
We have analyzed the latest NA50 data on $J/ψ$ suppression in Pb + Pb collisions. $J/ψ$ production is assumed to be a two step process, (i) formation of $c\bar{c}$ pair, which is accurately calculable in QCD and (ii) formation of $J/ψ$ meson from the $c\bar{c}$ pair, which can be conveniently parameterized. In a pA/AA collision, the as the $c\bar{c}$ pair pass through the nuclear medium, it gain relative square momentum at the rate of $ε^2$ per unit path length. As a result, some of the $c\bar{c}$ pairs can gain enough momentum to cross the threshold to become an open charm meson, leading to s…
We propose a rather general description of residual New Physics (NP) effects on the top quark couplings. These effects are described in terms of 20 gauge invariant $dim=6$ operators involving gauge and Higgs bosons as well as quarks of the third family. We compute their implications for the $γt\bar t$, $Z t \bar t$ and $tbW$ vertices and study their observability in the process $e^-e^+ \to t\bar t$ with $t\to bW \to b\ell^+ν_\ell$. We present results for the integrated cross section, the angular distribution and various decay distribution and polarization asymmetries for NLC energies of $0.5-2…
We propose to describe the process $ p \bar{p} \,\to\, \bar{D^0} D^0$ in a perturbative QCD motivated framework where a double-handbag hard process $ u d \bar u \bar d \to \bar{c} c$ factorizes from transition distribution amplitudes, which are quasi forward hadronic matrix elements of $Ψ_q Ψ_q Ψ_c $ operators, where q denotes light quarks and c denotes the heavy quark. We advocate that the charm-quark mass acts as the large scale allowing this factorization. We calculate this process in the simplified framework of the scalar diquark model and present the expected cross sections for the PANDA …
Transverse spectra of both jets and hadrons obtained in high-energy $pp$ and $p\bar p $ collisions at central rapidity exhibit power-law behavior of $1/p_T^n$ at high $p_T$. The power index $n$ is 4-5 for jet production and is 6-10 for hadron production. Furthermore, the hadron spectra spanning over 14 orders of magnitude down to the lowest $p_T$ region in $pp$ collisions at LHC can be adequately described by a single nonextensive statistical mechanical distribution that is widely used in other branches of science. This suggests indirectly the possible dominance of the hard-scattering process …
We analyse the data for the proton structure function $F_2$ over the entire $Q^2$ domain, including especially low $Q^2$, in terms of perturbative and non-perturbative QCD contributions. The small distance configurations are given by perturbative QCD, while the large distance contributions are given by the vector dominance model and, for the higher mass $q \bar{q}$ states, by the additive quark approach. The interference between states of different $q\bar{q}$ mass (in the perturbative contribution) is found to play a crucial role in obtaining an excellent description of the data throughout the…
We present a simultaneous measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry and the top-quark polarization in $t\bar t$ production in dilepton final states using 9.7 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-antiproton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV with the D0 detector. To reconstruct the distributions of kinematic observables we employ a matrix element technique that calculates the likelihood of the possible $t\bar t$ kinematic configurations. After accounting for the presence of background events and for calibration effects, we obtain a forward-backward asymmetry of $A^{t\bar t} = (15.0 \pm 6.4 \text{ (stat)} \pm…
We investigate hidden-charm molecular states in $Ξ_c^{(\prime,*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ systems using the one-boson exchange model. By regulating the short-range interactions with parameter $a$ and cutoff $Λ$, we found ten bound states in isoscalar systems. Our analysis reveals that if the LHCb Collaboration's $P_{cs}(4459)$ and Belle Collaboration's $P_{cs}(4472)$ pentaqurks are indeed distinct states, their mass splitting can be resolved through $Ξ_c^{\prime}\bar{D}$-$Ξ_c\bar{D}^*$ coupled channel dynamics using consistent model parameters. This framework assigns $3/2^-$ and $1/2^-$ spin-parity quan…
We present a relativistic molecular dynamics approach based on the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio Lagrangian. We derive the relativistic time evolution equations for an expanding plasma, discuss the hadronization cross section and how they act in such a scenario. We present in detail how one can transform the time evolution equation to a simulation program and apply this program to study the expansion of a plasma created in experiments at RHIC and LHC. We present first results on the centrality dependence of $v_2$ and of the transverse momentum spectra of pions and kaons and discuss in detail the hadroni…
This paper provides results for the spectra of triply charmed and bottom baryons based on a constituent quark model approach. We take advantage of the assumption that potential models are expected to describe triply heavy baryons to a similar degree of accuracy as the successful results obtained in the charmonium and bottomonium sectors. The high precision calculation of the ground state and positive and negative parity excited states recently reported by nonperturbative lattice QCD provides us with a unique opportunity to confront model predictions with data. This comparison may also help to …
We perform a quark model calculation of the $b\bar{b}$ and $c\bar{c}$ spectra from a screened funnel potential form suggested by unquenched lattice calculations. A connection between the lattice screening parameter and an effective gluon mass directly derived from QCD is established. Spin-spin energy splittings, leptonic widths and radiative decays are also examined providing a test for the description of the states.
The effective quark interaction in a relativistically covariant constituent quark model based on the Salpeter equation is supplemented by an extra phenomenological flavour dependent force in order to account for some discrepancies mainly in the description of excited negative parity Delta resonances. Simultaneously an improved description of some other features of the light-flavoured baryon mass spectrum and of some electromagnetic form factors is obtained.
A Poincare' covariant Faddeev equation is presented, which enables the simultaneous prediction of meson and baryon observables using the leading-order in a truncation of the Dyson-Schwinger equations that can systematically be improved. The solution describes a nucleon's dressed-quark core. The evolution of the nucleon mass with current-quark mass is discussed. A nucleon-photon current, which can produce nucleon form factors with realistic Q^2-evolution, is described. Axial-vector diquark correlations lead to a neutron Dirac form factor that is negative, with r_1^{nu}>r_1^{nd}. The proton elec…
Using the Regge-like formula $(M-m_Q)^2=πσL$ between hadron mass $M$ and angular momentum $L$ with a heavy quark mass $m_Q$ and a string tension $σ$, we analyze all the heavy-light systems, i.e., $D/D_s/B/B_s$ mesons and charmed and bottom baryons.Numerical plots are obtained for all the heavy-light mesons of experimental data whose slope becomes nearly equal to 1/2 of that for light hadrons. Assuming that charmed and bottom baryons consist of one heavy quark and one light cluster of two light quarks (diquark), we apply the formula to all the heavy-light baryons including recently discovered $…
We model the $N\bar{N}$ system at rest as a baryon number zero lump in the Skyrme model including the $ω$ field. We integrate the classical equations of motion from the highly non-perturbative annihilation region into the non-interacting radiation zone. Subsequent coherent state quantization of the radiation field gives a good description of the pion spectrum from annihilation at rest.
Models with extended Higgs sectors can contain several additional Higgs states, heavier or lighter than the SM Higgs boson. The couplings of lighter extra states to SM particles can be strongly reduced, leading to small cross sections for their direct production. Heavier extra states can have larger couplings to SM particles and, moreover, have large branching fractions into lighter extra states, notably into a SM-like Higgs boson accompagnied by another Higgs state which can be lighter or heavier than 125$\sim$GeV. Motivated by corresponding scenarios in the NMSSM we study the prospects for t…
Very recently, three new structures $Ξ_c(2923)^0$, $Ξ(2938)^0$, and $Ξ(2964)^0$ at the invariant mass spectrum of $Λ_c^{+}K^{-}$ observed by the LHCb Collaboration triggers a hot discussion about their inner structure. In this work, we study the strong decay mode of the newly observed $Ξ_c$ assuming that the $Ξ_c$ is a $\bar{D}Λ-\bar{D}Σ$ molecular state. With the possible quantum numbers $J^p=1/2^{\pm}$ and $3/2^{\pm}$, the partial decay widths of the $\bar{D}Λ-\bar{D}Σ$ molecular state into the $Λ_c^{+}K^{-}$, $Σ_c^{+}K^{-}$,and $Ξ_c^{+}π^{-}$ final states through hadronic loop are calculate…
At present, there are several hints of lepton flavor non-universality. The LHCb Collaboration has measured $R_K\equiv{\cal B}(B^+ \to K^+ μ^+ μ^-)/{\cal B}(B^+ \to K^+ e^+ e^-)$, and the BaBar Collaboration has measured $R(D^{(*)}) \equiv {\cal B}({\bar B} \to D^{(*)+} τ^- {\barν}_τ) / {\cal B}({\bar B} \to D^{(*)+} \ell^- {\barν}_\ell)$ ($\ell = e,μ$). In all cases, the experimental results differ from the standard model predictions by 2-3$σ$. Recently, an explanation of the $R_K$ puzzle was proposed in which new physics (NP) generates a neutral-current operator involving only third-generatio…
We present a joint extraction of the strong coupling $α_s$ and the top-quark pole mass $m_t$ from measurements of top-quark pair production performed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the 8 TeV LHC. For the first time, differential NNLO theory predictions for different values of the top-quark mass are utilised for four kinematic distributions: the average transverse momentum of the top-quark, its average rapidity and the pair invariant mass and rapidity. The use of fastNLO tables for these distributions allows rapid evaluation of the differential theory predictions for different PDF sets. We…
We present a global fit to all data on the suppression of high energy jets and high energy hadrons in the most central heavy ion collisions at the LHC for two different collision energies, within a hybrid strong/weak coupling quenching model. Even though the measured suppression factors for hadrons and jets differ significantly from one another and appear to asymptote to different values in the high energy limit, we obtain a simultaneous description of all these data after constraining the value of a single model parameter. We use our model to investigate the origin of the difference between t…
We present an event generator that describes the Higgs boson decay into $b$-quarks at next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) in QCD and allows for a consistent matching to parton shower. For this purpose, we work within the POWHEG framework and employ the MINLO method to produce an NNLO-accurate H$\to\! b\bar{b}$ event sample which can further be interfaced with a generic Higgs boson production mode. The resulting events, that combine Higgs production and decay, can be matched to parton shower by means of a vetoed shower. As an example, we present a short phenomenological study for associated Hi…
