Recent data on $B$ meson mixings and decays are, in general, in accord with the standard model expectations, except showing a few hiccups: (i) a large phase in $B_s$ mixing, (ii) a significant difference ($> 3.5 σ$) between CP-asymmetries in $B^\pm \to π^0 K^\pm$ and $B_d \to π^\mp K^\pm$ channels, and (iii) a larger than expected branching ratio in $B_d \to π^0π^0$ channel. We show that selective baryon number violating Yukawa couplings in R-parity violating supersymmetry can reconcile all the measurements.
The difference between the CP asymmetries of the $B^0 \to K^+ π^-$ and $B^+ \to K^+ π^0$ decays has been recently confirmed with an evidence larger than $5σ$'s. We discuss it as a possible signal of new physics associated with new (large) CP violation in the electroweak penguin contributions. We propose a supersymmetry breaking scheme where such new sources of CP violation occur in the flavor non-universal trilinear scalar couplings.
At present, there are discrepancies between the measurements of several observables in B-->pi K decays and the predictions of the standard model (the ``B-->pi K puzzle''). Although the effect is not yet statistically significant -- it is at the level of $\gsim 3σ$ -- it does hint at the presence of new physics. In this paper, we explore whether supersymmetry (SUSY) can explain the B-->pi K puzzle. In particular, we consider the SUSY model of Grossman, Neubert and Kagan (GNK). We find that it is extremely unlikely that GNK explains the B-->pi K data. We also find a similar conclusion in many ot…
We use the precision electroweak data at LEP to place bounds on $B$-violating Yukawa couplings, two theoretically appealing examples being provided by $R$-parity--violating supersymmetry and diquarks. The couplings involving the third generation quarks are most severely constrained. These bounds are complementary to those obtained from low-energy processes.
We present the two-loop $β$-functions for non-standard soft supersymmetry-breaking couplings including non-standard R-parity violating soft terms in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model
We investigate the possible role that baryon number violating Yukawa interactions may take in the inclusive decay $ B \to X_s γ$. The constraints, derived using the experimental results of the CLEO collaboration, turn out, in many cases, to be more stringent than the existing bounds.
Yukawa-like R-parity violating (RPV) couplings are generated as effective operators with a typical strength of ${\cal O}(10^{-3})$ through loops involving the scalars, the gauginos and the soft supersymmetry breaking RPV interactions. Neutrino masses and other phenomenological implications of such a scenario are discussed.
We summarized our report on leptonic flavor violating Higgs decay into mu + tau under the scheme of a generic supersymmetric standard model without R parity. With known experimental constraints imposed, important combinations of R-parity violating parameters which can give notable branching ratios are listed.
R-parity-violating supersymmetry (with a conserved baryon number B) provides a framework for particle physics with lepton number (L) violating interactions. We examine in detail the structure of the most general R-parity-violating (B-conserving) model of low-energy supersymmetry. We analyze the mixing of Higgs bosons with sleptons and the mixing of charginos and neutralinos with charged leptons and neutrinos, respectively. Implications for neutrino and sneutrino masses and mixing and CP-conserving sneutrino phenomena are considered. L-violating low-energy supersymmetry can be probed at future …
We consider the proton decay involving a light gravitino or axino in gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking models to derive constraints on the $R$ parity and baryon number violating Yukawa couplings. Bounds on all nine coupling constants are obtained by considering the decay amplitudes at one-loop order.
We discuss the implications of the recent measurement of the $B_s-\bar{B_s}$ oscillation frequency $ΔM_s$ on the parameter space of R-parity violating supersymmetry. For completeness, we also discuss the bounds coming from leptonic, semileptonic, and nonleptonic B decay modes, and point out some possibly interesting channels at LHC.
I study the weak basis CP-violating invariants in supersymmetric models, in particular those which cannot be expressed in terms of the Jarlskog--type invariants, and find basis--independent conditions for CP conservation. With an example of the K-anti-K mixing, I clarify what are the combinations of supersymmetric parameters which are constrained by experiment.
Supersymmetric gauge models with local horizontal symmetries are known to generate large flavor changing neutral current effects induced by supersymmetry breaking D-terms. We show how the presence of a U(1) gauge symmetry solves this problem. We then construct a realistic gauge model with SU(2)_H x U(1)_H as the local horizontal symmetry and suggest that the U(1)_H factor may be identified with the anomalous U(1) induced by string compactification. This model explains the observed hierarchies among the quark masses and mixing angles, accommodates naturally the solar and atmospheric neutrino da…
Assuming that CPT is violated in the neutrino sector seems to be a viable alternative to sterile neutrinos when it comes to reconciling the LSND anomaly with the remainder of the neutrino data. There are different (distinguishable) ways of incorporating CPT violation into the standard model, including postulating m different from \bar{m}. Here, I investigate the possibility of introducing CPT violation via Lorentz-invariance violating effective operators (``Ether'' potentials) which modify neutrino oscillation patterns like ordinary matter effects. I argue that, within a simplified two-flavor …
Recent experiments suggest that certain data of $B \to ππ,πK$ decays are inconsistent with the standard model expectations. We try to explain the discrepancies with R-parity violating suppersymmetry. By employing the QCD factorization approach, we study these decays in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation. We show that R-parity violation can resolve the discrepancies in both $B \to ππ$ and $B \to πK$ decays, and find that in some regions of parameter spaces all these requirements, including the CP averaged branching ratios and the direct CP asymmetries, can be sati…
We consider the neutrino oscillations within the minimal supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation. The Super-Kamiokande atmospheric neutrino data are used to set limits on the bilinear R-parity violating terms. These very stringent limits are out of reach of the other experiments at present and in the near future.
The latest results from CMS on R-Parity violating Supersymmetry based on the 19.5/fb full dataset from the 8 TeV LHC run of 2012 are reviewed. The results are interpreted in the context of simplified models with multilepton and b-quark jets signatures that have low missing transverse energy arising from light top-squark pair with R-parity-violating decays of the lightest supersymmetric particle. In addition to simplified model, a new approach for phenomenological MSSM interpretation is shown which demonstrates that the obtained results from multilepton final states are valid for a wide range o…
Motivated by the recent experimental data of the E787, E949 and E865 collaborations and by the difference between the standard model (SM) prediction and data, we consider in detail R-parity violating (RPV) supersymmetric contributions to K -> pi nu nubar. The theoretical cleaness of this decay constitutes a useful way to provide constraints, independent of long distance effects. Including the possiblity of interferences between one-loop R-parity conserving (RPC) supersymmetry and tree-level RPV supersymmetric contributions, our results allow to improve the limits on R-parity violating coupling…
We discuss a model for neutrino masses and mixings based on R parity violating Yukawa couplings. The model requires no right-handed neutrinos. It accommodates the SuperKamiokande data on atmospheric neutrinos and successfully relates this data to the mass difference for solar neutrinos in the small-angle MSW solution. We obtain an unexpected testable pattern for the three neutrino flavors.
We update the single-coupling bounds on R-parity violating supersymmetry using the most up to date data as of October 2009. In addition to the data listed in the 2009 Review of Particle Properties, we utilize a new determination of the weak charge of cesium-133, and preliminary tau-decay branching fractions from Babar. Analysis of semileptonic D-decay is improved by the inclusion of experimentally measured form-factors into the calculation of the Standard Model predictions.
The phenomenology and prospects for a discovery of R-parity violating Supersymmetry at HERA are analysed. Emphasis is put on the direct resonant production of squarks by electron-quark fusion and all possible subsequent decay modes of the squarks are considered. In particular, the full consequences of the mixing in the supersymmetric gaugino-higgsino sector are taken into account. A rich phenomenology emerges for HERA which offers a unique sensitivity to new R-parity violating couplings and good discriminating power against free parameters of the theory.
We calculate the radiative decay amplitude for Majorana neutrinos in trilinear R-parity violating supersymmetric framework. Our results make no assumption regarding the masses and mixings of fermions and sfermions. The results obtained are exemplary for generic models with loop-generated neutrino masses. Comparison of this amplitude with the neutrino mass matrix shows that the two provide independent probes of CP-violating phases.
We study $t \bar t$ production in R-parity violating supersymmetry. The annihilation channel $q \bar q \rightarrow t \bar t$ gets new contributions from $t$-channel exchange of squarks or sleptons. With the data from Tevatron on $t \bar t$ production, we find that the squark- or slepton-exchange processes constrain the $B$-violating $λ''$ couplings or the $L$-violating $λ'$ couplings, respectively. Our bounds are already comparable to the few existing constraints on third-generation $R$-parity violating couplings, and will improve when more precise measurements of the $t \bar t$ production cro…
We study the non-leptonic puzzle of $B_{d(s)} \rightarrow K^{(\ast)}\bar{K}^{(\ast)}$ decay in the $R$-parity violating minimal supersymmetric standard model (RPV-MSSM) extended with the inverse seesaw mechanism. In this model, the chiral flip of sneutrinos can contribute to the observables $L_{K\bar{K}}$ and $L_{K^{\ast}\bar{K}^{\ast}}$, that is benefit for explaining the relevant puzzle. We also find that this unique effect can engage in the $B_s$-$\bar{B}_s$ mixing. We utilize the scenario of complex $λ^\prime$ couplings to fulfill the recent stringent constraint of $B_s$-$\bar{B}_s$ mixing…
Phenomenological analysis to the R-parity violating supersymmetry with a vector-like extra generation is performed in detail. It is found that, via the trilinear couplings, the correct neutrino spectrum can be obtained. The Higgs mass rises to 125 GeV by new up-type Yukawa couplings of vector-like quarks with no need of very heavy superpartners. Phenomena of new heavy fermions at LHC are predicted.
Lepton-flavor-violating decays of the type L->l gamma gamma (mu->e gamma gamma, tau->e gamma gamma, and tau->mu gamma gamma) are proposed as new probes of R-parity-violating supersymmetry. Non-penguin diagrams with a sneutrino that decays into two photons via a triangle graph might trigger such decays even in the absence of the corresponding radiative decays into one photon only, e.g. mu->e gamma. Thus, processes of the type L->l gamma gamma may provide an independent probe of new flavor physics.
Upper bounds at the weak scale are put on all $λ'_{ijk}λ'_{imn}$ type products of R-parity violating supersymmetry that may affect K-Kbar and B-Bbar mixing. We constrain all possible products, including some not considered before, using next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the mixing amplitudes. Constraints are obtained for both real and imaginary parts of the couplings. We also discuss briefly some correlated decay channels which should be investigated in future experiments.
We prove a general low-energy theorem establishing a generic relation between the neutrino Majorana mass and the superpartner sneutrino B-L-violating "Majorana"-like mass term. The theorem states that, if one of these two quantities is non-zero the other one is also non-zero and, vice versa, if one of them vanishes the other vanishes, too. The theorem is a consequence of the underlying supersymmetry (SUSY) and valid for any realistic gauge model with weak scale softly broken SUSY.
R-parity-violating supersymmetry with a conserved baryon number B provides a framework for particle physics with lepton number (L) violating interactions. Two important probes of the L-violating physics are neutrino masses and sneutrino-antisneutrino mass-splittings. We evaluate these quantities in the context of the most general CP-conserving, R-parity-violating B-conserving extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model. In generic three-generation models, three sneutrino-antisneutrino mass splittings are generated at tree-level. In contrast, only one neutrino mass is generated at tr…
We update the bounds on $R$-parity violating supersymmetry originating from meson oscillations in the $B^0_{d/s}$ and $K^0$ systems. To this end, we explicitly calculate all corresponding contributions from $R$-parity violating operators at the one-loop level, thereby completing and correcting existing calculations. We apply our results to the derivation of bounds on $R$-parity violating couplings, based on up-to-date experimental measurements. In addition, we consider the possibility of cancellations among flavor-changing contributions of various origins, e.g. from multiple $R$-parity violati…
Motivated by the recent SuperKamiokande results on atmospheric neutrinos, we incorporate massive neutrinos, with large angle oscillation between the second and third generations, in a theory with R-parity violating supersymmetry. The general features of such a theory are briefly reviewed. We emphasize its testability through the observation of comparable numbers of muons and taus, produced together with the W-boson, in decays of the lightest neutralino. A distinctly measurable decay gap is another remarkable feature of such a scenario.
In lepton-number-violating supersymmetric models, there is no natural choice of basis to distinguish the down-type Higgs and lepton superfields. We employ basis-independent techniques to identify the massless majoron and associated light scalar in the case of spontaneously-broken lepton number (L). When explicit L-violation is added, these two scalars can acquire masses of order the electroweak scale and can be identified as massive sneutrinos.

The recent measurements of the $B_s$ mass difference $ΔM_s$ by the CDF and DØ collaborations are roughly consistent with the Standard Model predictions, therefore, these measurements will afford an opportunity to constrain new physics scenarios beyond the Standard Model. We consider the impact of the R-parity violating supersymmetry in the $B^0_s-\bar{B}^0_s$ mixing, and use the latest experimental results of $ΔM_s$ to constrain the size of the R-parity violating tree level couplings in the $B^0_s-\bar{B}^0_s$ mixing. Then, using the constrained R-parity violating parameter space from $ΔM_s$, …
We present a general study of a three neutrino flavour transition model based on the supersymmetric interactions which violate R-parity. These interactions induce flavour violating scattering reactions between solar matter and neutrinos. The model does not contain any vacuum mass or mixing angle for the first generation neutrino. Instead, the effective mixing in the first generation is induced via the new interactions. The model provides a natural interpretation of the atmospheric neutrino anomaly, and is consistent with reactor experiments. We determine all R-parity violating couplings which …
We put constraints on several products of R-parity violating lambda lambda' and lambda' lambda' type couplings from leptonic and semileptonic tau, B_d and B_s decays. Most of them are one to two orders of magnitude better than the existing bounds, and almost free from theoretical uncertainties. A significant improvement of these bounds can be made in high luminosity tau-charm or B factories.
In light of the recent experimental data from $B$ factories, We try to explain the large branching ratio (compared to the Standard Model prediction) of the decay $B^{\pm}\to η' K^{\pm}$ in the context of R-parity violating ($\rpv$) supersymmetry. We investigate other observed $η^{(\prime)}$ modes and find that only two pairs of $\rpv$ coupling can satisfy the requirements without affecting the other $B \to PP$ and $B \to VP$ decay modes except the mode $B \to ϕK$. We also calculate the CP asymmetry for the observed decay modes affected by the new couplings.
The flavor violating $μ^--e^-$ conversion in nuclei is studied within the minimal supersymmetric standard model. We focus on the R-parity violating contributions at tree level including the trilinear and the bilinear terms in the superpotential as well as in the soft supersymmetry breaking sector. The nucleon and nuclear structure have consistently been taken into account in the expression of the $μ^--e^-$ conversion branching ratio constructed in this framework. We have found that the contribution of the strange quark sea of the nucleon is comparable with that of the valence quarks. From the …
With only three flavors it is possible to account for various neutrino oscillation experiments. The masses and mixing angles for three neutrinos can be determined from the available experimental data on neutrino oscillation and from the astrophysical arguments. We have shown here that such masses and mixing angles which can explain atmospheric neutrino anomaly, LSND result and the solar neutrino experimental data, can be reconciled with the R-parity violating Supersymmetric Models through lepton number violating interactions. We have estimated the order of magnitude for some lepton number viol…
We implement non-minimal flavour violation (NMFV) in the MSSM at low scale. In this framework, we propose benchmark points for the mSUGRA scenario including non-minimal flavour violation by evaluating a number of experimental low-energy, electroweak precision and cosmological constraints. We finally discuss phenomenological aspects of our NMFV scenario and present a numerical analysis of squark and gaugino production cross sections at the LHC.
In the minimal supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation, the lepton number violating top quark interactions can contribute to the top pair production at a linear collider via tree-level u-channel squark exchange diagrams. We calculate such contributions and find that in the allowed range of these R-violating couplings, the top pair production rate as well as the top quark polarization and the forward-backward asymmetry can be significantly altered. By comparing the unpolarized beams with the polarized beams, we find that the polarized beams are more powerful in probing such new ph…
In R-parity-violating supersymmetric models (with a conserved baryon number), there are no quantum numbers that distinguish the lepton-doublet and down-type Higgs supermultiplets. As a result, the R-parity-violating parameters depend on the basis choice for these superfields, although physical observables are independent of the choice of basis. This paper presents a basis-independent computation of the sneutrino/antisneutrino squared-mass splitting in terms of basis-independent quantities. Techniques are developed for an arbitrary number of sneutrino generations; specific results are provided …
We investigate the production of charginos and neutralinos at a 500 GeV e^+e^- collider (NLC) and study their decays to the lightest neutralino, which then decays into multi-fermion final states through couplings which do not conserve R-parity. These couplings are assumed to affect only the decay of the lightest neutralino. Detailed analyses of the possible signals and backgrounds are performed for five selected points in the parameter space.
We propose a new scenario that solves the slepton negative mass squared problem of the minimal supersymmetric standard model with anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking. The solution is achieved by including three trilinear R-parity violating operators in the superpotential. The soft supersymmetry breaking terms satisfy renormalisation group invariant relations in terms of supersymmetric couplings and the overall supersymmetry breaking mass scale. Flavour changing neutral currents can be naturally highly suppressed. A specific model predicts tan beta=4.2+/-1.0. Excluding sleptons, the supersy…
In this paper we examine thoroughly the Higgs boson to mu tau decay via processes involving R parity violating couplings. By means of full one-loop diagrammatic calculations, we found that even if known experimental constraints, particularly including the stringent sub-eV neutrino mass bounds, give strong restrictions on some of the R parity violating parameters, the branching ratio could still achieve notable value in the admissible parameter space. Hence, the flavor violating leptonic decay is of interest to future experiments. We present here key results of our analysis. Based on the analys…
Recently, it was pointed out that the mixing phase in the Bs-Bsbar system is large, contrary to the expectations in the Standard Model as well as in minimal flavour violation models. The leptonic decay widths of the D_s meson are also found to be larger than expected. We show how a minimal set of four R-parity violating lambda-prime type couplings can explain both these anomalies. We also point out other phenomenological implications of such new physics.
Neutrino oscillation signals at muon storage rings can be faked by supersymmetric (SUSY) interactions in an R-parity violating scenario. We investigate the $τ$-appearance signals for both long-baseline and near-site experiments, and conclude that the latter is of great use in distinguishing between oscillation and SUSY effects. On the other hand, SUSY can cause a manifold increase in the event rate for wrong-sign muons at a long-baseline setting, thereby providing us with signatures of new physics.
We perform a systematic reevaluation of the constraints on the flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) parameters in R-parity conserving and R-parity violating supersymmetric models. As a typical process, we study the constraints coming from the measurements on the B0-\bar{B0} system on the supersymmetric $δ^d_{13}$ parameters, as well as on the products of the lambda' type R-parity violating couplings. Present data allows us to put constraints on both the real and the imaginary parts of the relevant parameters.
We perform a study of neutrinoless double beta ($0νββ$) decay mediated by the lightest neutralino of arbitrary mass in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) under the presence of R-parity violating trilinear interactions. In this scenario, the exchange of the lightest neutralino can result in $0νββ$ decay of either long-range or short-range behaviour, depending on the neutralino mass. Using nuclear matrix elements calculated in the Interacting Boson Model, we use an interpolation between the long- and short-range behaviours with an approximate formula. The non-observation of $0νββ$ …
If $R$-parity is broken and the photino, although unstable, does not decay within the detector, then in new semileptonic $B$-decay modes a light ($\sim$ 2--3 GeV) photino can be produced carrying missing energy. However, the photino, being massive, arranges a different kinematical configuration for the visible decay products as compared to a standard semileptonic event where the neutrino carries the missing energy. We study the above kinematic distributions in an attempt to explore the above scenario.
We investigate the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment (MDM), the muon electric dipole moment (EDM) and the lepton-flavour-violating decays of the $τ-$lepton, $τ\to μγ$ and $τ\to 3μ$, in the CP-violating Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with nonuniversal soft-supersymmetry breaking. We evaluate numerically the muon EDM and the branching ratios $B(τ\to μγ)$ and $B(τ\to 3μ)$, after taking into account the experimental constraints from the electron EDM and muon MDM. Upon imposition of the experimental limits on our theoretical predictions for the aforementioned branching ratios and …
We present a first update on the constraints on general MSSM scenarios with non-minimal sources of flavour violation (NMFV). Using the public code SuperIso, we present an up-to-date computation of the relevant Wilson coefficients related to $b\to s ll$ transitions which manifest tensions with the SM predictions. We present benchmark scenarios compatible with the most recent fits to the Wilson coefficients. We finally discuss the possibility for such scenarios to completely explain the recent flavour anomalies.
Renormalizable lepton number violating interactions that break R-parity can induce a Majorana mass for neutrinos. Based on this, we show that it is possible to obtain a phenomenologically viable neutrino mass matrix that can accommodate atmospheric neutrino data via $ν_μ$--$ν_τ$ mixing and the solar neutrino data via either the large or small angle MSW effect. We argue that such a mass matrix could result from an approximate discrete symmetry of the superpotential that forbids renormalizable baryon number violating couplings.
We investigate couplings of squarks to gauge and Higgs-bosons within the framework of non-minimal flavour violation in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Introducing non-diagonal elements in the mass matrices of squarks, we first study their impact on the self-energies and physical mass eigenvalues of squarks. We then present an extensive analysis of bosonic squark decays for variations of the flavour-violating parameters around the two benchmark scenarios SPS1a' and SPS1b. Signatures, that would be characteristic for a non-minimal flavour structure in the squark sector, can be found i…
Theoretical and phenomenological implications of R-parity violation in supersymmetric theories are discussed in the context of particle physics and cosmology. Fundamental aspects include the relation with continuous and discrete symmetries and the various allowed patterns of R-parity breaking. Recent developments on the generation of neutrino masses and mixings within different scenarios of R-parity violation are discussed. The possible contribution of R-parity-violating Yukawa couplings in processes involving virtual supersymmetric particles and the resulting constraints are reviewed. Finally…
We attempt to reconcile large trilinear R-parity violating interactions in a supersymmetric (SUSY) theory with the observed pattern of neutrino masses and mixing. We show that, with a restricted number of such interaction terms with the $λ'$-type couplings in the range (0.1-1.0), it is possible to forbid one-loop contributions to the neutrino mass matrix. This is illustrated with the help of a `working example' where an econnomic choice of SUSY parameters is made, with three non-vanishing and `large' R-parity violating terms in the superpotential. The two-loop contributions in such a case can …
The absence so far of any supersymmetric signals at the LHC pushes towards a rethinking of the assumptions underlying the MSSM. Because the large missing $E_T$ searches are inadequate to detect a LSP decaying within the detector, R-parity violating supersymmetry is still a good candidate for low energy, natural supersymmetry. We show that, in Froggatt-Nielsen-like models of horizontal symmetries, specific textures for the R-parity violating couplings are dictated by the symmetry, with the largest coupling involving the third generation fields. Lepton number can be an accidental symmetry of the…
In supersymmetric theories with R-parity violation, squarks and sleptons can mediate Standard Model fermion-fermion scattering processes. These scalar exchanges in e+e- initiated reactions can give new signals at future linear colliders. We explore use of transverse beam polarization in the study of these signals in the process e+e- -> b bar{b}. We highlight certain asymmetries, which can be constructed due to the existence of the transverse beam polarization, which offer discrimination from the Standard Model background and provide increased sensitivity to the R-parity violating couplings.
We report the first fully general numerical calculation of the neutron and electron dipole moments, including the seven significant phases. We find that there are major regions in the parameter space where none of the phases are required to be small, contrary to the conventional wisdom. The electric dipole moments (EDM's) do provide useful constraints, allowing other regions of parameter space to be carved away. We keep all superpartner masses light so agreement with experimental limits arises purely from interesting relations among soft breaking parameters.
Neutrino oscillation signals at muon storage rings (MSR) can be mimicked by Supersymmetric (SUSY) interactions in an R-parity violating scenario. We have investigated the $τ$-appearance signals for both long-baseline and near-site experiments, and concluded that the latter is of great use in distinguishing between oscillation and SUSY effects. On the other hand, SUSY can cause a manifold increase in the event rate for wrong-sign muons at a long-baseline setting, thereby providing us with signatures of new physics.
