We establish that the Volterra-type integral operator $J_b$ on the Hardy spaces $H^p$ of the unit ball $\mathbb{B}_n$ exhibits a rather strong rigid behavior. More precisely, we show that the compactness, strict singularity and $\ell^p$-singularity of $J_b$ are equivalent on $H^p$ for any $1 \le p < \infty$. Moreover, we show that the operator $J_b$ acting on $H^p$ cannot fix an isomorphic copy of $\ell^2$ when $p \ne 2.$
Let $\mathcal{D}$ be the class of radial weights on the unit disk which satisfy both forward and reverse doubling conditions. Let $g$ be an analytic function on the unit disk $\mathbb{D}$. We characterize bounded and compact Volterra type integration operators \[ J_{g}(f)(z)=\int_{0}^{z}f(λ)g'(λ)dλ\] between weighted Bergman spaces $L_{a}^{p}(ω)$ induced by $\mathcal{D}$ weights and Hardy spaces $H^{q}$ for $0<p,q<\infty$.
We completely characterize the boundedness of the Volterra type integration operators $J_b$ acting from the weighted Bergman spaces $A^p_α$ to the Hardy spaces $H^q$ of the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n$ for all $0<p,q<\infty$. A partial solution to the case $n=1$ was previously obtained by Z. Wu in \cite{Wu}. We solve the cases left open there and extend all the results to the setting of arbitrary complex dimension $n$. Our tools involve area methods from harmonic analysis, Carleson measures and Kahane-Khinchine type inequalities, factorization tricks for tent spaces of sequences, as well as tec…
In this paper, we first characterize the boundedness and compactness of Volterra type operator $S_gf(z) = \int_0^z f'(ζ)g(ζ)dζ, \ z \in \mathbb{D},$ defined on Hardy spaces $H^p, \, 0< p <\infty$. The spectrum of $S_g$ is also obtained. Then we prove that $S_g$ fixes an isomorphic copy of $\ell^p$ and an isomorphic copy of $\ell^2$ if the operator $S_g$ is not compact on $H^p (1\leq p<\infty)$. In particular, this implies that the strict singularity of the operator $S_g$ coincides with the compactness of the operator $S_g$ on $H^p$. At last, we post an open question for further study.
Čučković and Paudyal recently characterized the lattice of invariant subspaces of the shift plus a complex Volterra operator on the Hilbert space $H^2$ on the unit disk. Motivated by the idea of Ong, in this paper, we give a complete characterization of the lattice of invariant subspaces of the shift operator plus a positive integer multiple of the Volterra operator on Hardy spaces $H^p$, which essentially extends their works to the more general cases when $1\leq p<\infty$.
For a Dirichlet series symbol $g(s) = \sum_{n \geq 1} b_n n^{-s}$, the associated Volterra operator $\mathbf{T}_g$ acting on a Dirichlet series $f(s)=\sum_{n\ge 1} a_n n^{-s}$ is defined by the integral $f\mapsto -\int_{s}^{+\infty} f(w)g'(w)\,dw$. We show that $\mathbf{T}_g$ is a bounded operator on the Hardy space $\mathcal{H}^p$ of Dirichlet series with $0 < p < \infty$ if and only if the symbol $g$ satisfies a Carleson measure condition. When appropriately restricted to one complex variable, our condition coincides with the standard Carleson measure characterization of ${\operatorname{BMOA…
We completely describe the boundedness of the Volterra type operator $J_ g$ between Hardy spaces in the unit ball of $\Cn$. The proof of the one dimensional case used tools, such as the strong factorization for Hardy spaces, that are not available in higher dimensions, and therefore new techniques are developed. In particular, a generalized version of the description of Hardy spaces in terms of the area function is needed.
We study the boundedness and compactness of the generalized Volterra integral operator on weighted Bergman spaces with doubling weights on the unit disk. A generalized Toeplitz operator is defined and the boundedness, compactness and Schatten class of this operator are investigated on the Hilbert weighted Bergman space. As an application, Schatten class membership of generalized Volterra integral operators are also characterized. Finally, we also get the characterizations of Schatten class membership of generalized Toeplitz operator and generalized Volterra integral operators on the Hardy spac…
Various dynamical properties of the differentiation and Volterra-type integral operators on generalized Fock spaces are studied. We show that the differentiation operator is always supercyclic on these spaces. We further characterize when it is hypercyclic, power bounded and uniformly mean ergodic. We prove that the operator satisfies the Ritt's resolvent condition if and only if it is power bounded and uniformly mean ergodic. Some similar results are obtained for the Volterra-type and Hardy integral operators.
The lattice of closed invariant subspaces of the Volterra operator acting on $L^2(0,1)$ was completely described by Sarason. On the other hand, he explicitly found the lattice of closed invariant subspaces of the shift plus Volterra operator on $L^2(0,1)$. Inspired by Sarason's results, we find the lattice of closed invariant subspaces of the shift plus complex Volterra operator acting on the Hardy space
We prove a number of results on the automorphisms of and isomorphisms between Hardy-Toeplitz algebras $\mathcal{T}(D)$ associated to bounded symmetric domains $D$: that the stable isomorphism class of $\mathcal{T}(D)$ determines $D$ (even when it is reducible), that for reducible domains $D=D_1\times\cdots \times D_s$ the automorphisms of the Shilov boundary $\check{S}(D)$ induced by those of $\mathcal{T}(D)$ permute the Shilov boundaries $\check{S}(D_i)$, and that by contrast to arbitrary solvable algebras, automorphisms of $\mathcal{T}(D)$ that are trivial on their character spaces $\check{S…
In the authors' first paper, Beurling-Rudin-Korenbljum type characterization of the closed ideals in a certain algebra of holomorphic functions was used to describe the lattice of invariant subspaces of the shift plus a complex Volterra operator. Current work is an extension of the previous work and it describes the lattice of invariant subspaces of the shift plus a positive integer multiple of the complex Volterra operator on the Hardy space. Our work was motivated by a paper by Ong who studied the real version of the same operator.
We study a Toeplitz type operator $Q_μ$ between the holomorphic Hardy spaces $H^p$ and $H^q$ of the unit ball. Here the generating symbol $μ$ is assumed to a positive Borel measure. This kind of operator is related to many classical mappings acting on Hardy spaces, such as composition operators, the Volterra type integration operators and Carleson embeddings. We completely characterize the boundedness and compactness of $Q_μ:H^p\to H^q$ for the full range $1<p,q<\infty$; and also describe the membership in the Schatten classes of $H^2$. In the last section of the paper, we demonstrate the usef…
We show that every non-compact weighted composition operator $f \mapsto u\cdot (f\circϕ)$ acting on a Hardy space $H^p$ for $1 \leq p < \infty$ fixes an isomorphic copy of the sequence space $\ell^p$ and therefore fails to be strictly singular. We also characterize those weighted composition operators on $H^p$ which fix a copy of the Hilbert space $\ell^2$. These results extend earlier ones obtained for unweighted composition operators.
The problem of describing the analytic functions $g$ on the unit disc such that the integral operator $T_g(f)(z)=\int_0^zf(ζ)g'(ζ)\,dζ$ is bounded (or compact) from a Banach space (or complete metric space) $X$ of analytic functions to the Hardy space $H^\infty$ is a tough problem and remains unsettled in many cases. For analytic functions $g$ with non-negative Maclaurin coefficients, we describe the boundedness and compactness of $T_g$ acting from a weighted Dirichlet space $D^p_ω$, induced by an upper doubling weight $ω$, to $H^\infty$. We also characterize, in terms of neat conditions on $ω…
