Using a recently proposed method arXiv:1910.11597 (Yu Meng et al.), we study the two-photon decay rate of $η_c$ using two $N_f=2$ twisted mass gauge ensembles with lattice spacings $0.067$fm and $0.085$fm. The results obtained from these two ensembles can be extrapolated in a naive fashion to the continuum limit, yielding a result that is consistent with the experimental one within two standard deviations. To be specific, we obtain the results for two-photon decay of $η_c$ as $\mathcal{B}(η_c\rightarrow 2γ)= 1.29(3)(18)\times 10^{-4}$ where the first error is statistical and the second is our estimate for the systematic error caused by the finite lattice spacing. It turns out that Ward identity for the vector current is of vital importance within this new method. We find that the Ward identity is violated for local current with a finite lattice spacing, however it will be restored after the continuum limit is taken.
The one-loop corrections to the supersymmetric Ward-Takahashi identity (WTi) are investigated in the off-shell regime in the Wilson formulation of the discretized N=1 Super Yang-Mills (SYM) theory. The study of the continuum limit as well as the renormalization procedure for the supercurrent are presented.
We calculate one-loop correction to the axial Ward-Takahashi identity given by Furman and Shamir in domain-wall QCD. It is shown perturbatively that the renormalized axial Ward-Takahashi identity is satisfied without fine tuning and the ``conserved'' axial current receives no renormalization, giving $Z_A=1$. This fact will simplify the calculation of the pion decay constant in numerical simulations since the decay constant defined by this current needs no lattice renormalization factor.
We present a determination of the strange quark mass for two flavours (nf=2) of light dynamical quarks using the axial Ward identity. The calculations are performed on the lattice using O(a) improved Wilson fermions and include a fully non-perturbative determination of the renormalisation constant. In the continuum limit we find in the MSbar scheme at 2GeV, ms = 111(6)(4)(6)MeV using the force scale r0 = 0.467fm, where the first error is statistical, the second and third are systematic due to the fit and scale uncertainties respectively. Results are also presented for the light quark mass and …
We consider a lattice formulation of the four dimensional N=1 Wess-Zumino model that uses the Ginsparg-Wilson relation. This formulation has an exact supersymmetry on the lattice. We show that the corresponding Ward-Takahashi identity is satisfied, both at fixed lattice spacing and in the continuum limit. The calculation is performed in lattice perturbation theory up to order $g^2$ in the coupling constant. We also show that this Ward-Takahashi identity determines the finite part of the scalar and fermion renormalization wave functions which automatically leads to restoration of supersymmetry …
The lattice Wess-Zumino model written in terms of the Ginsparg-Wilson relation is invariant under a generalized supersymmetry transformation which is determined by an iterative procedure in the coupling constant. By studying the associated Ward-Takahashi identity up to order $g^2$ we show that this lattice supersymmetry automatically leads to restoration of continuum supersymmetry without fine tuning. In particular, the scalar and fermion renormalization wave functions coincide.
One loop correction to the SUSY Ward-Takahashi identity is calculated on lattice with Wilson fermion. The supersymmetry on lattice is broken explicitly by the gluino mass and the lattice artifact. We should fine tune parameters in the theory to the point given by the additive mass correction in order to eliminate the breaking effect of lattice artifact. It is shown that the additive mass correction appearing from the SUSY Ward-Takahashi identity coincide with that from the axial $U(1)_R$ symmetry as was suggested by Curci and Veneziano. Two important symmetries of the super Yang-Mills theory c…
The one-loop corrections to the lattice supersymmetric Ward-Takahashi identity (WTi) are investigated in the off-shell regime. In the Wilson formulation of the N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theory, supersymmetry (SUSY) is broken by the lattice, by the Wilson term and is softly broken by the presence of the gluino mass. However, the renormalization of the supercurrent can be realized in a scheme that restores the continuum supersymmetric WTi (once the on-shell condition is imposed). The general procedure used to calculate the renormalization constants and mixing coefficients for the local…
The chiral susceptibility is given by the scalar vacuum polarisation at zero total momentum. This follows directly from the expression for the vacuum quark condensate so long as a nonperturbative symmetry preserving truncation scheme is employed. For QCD in-vacuum the susceptibility can rigorously be defined via a Pauli-Villars regularisation procedure. Owing to the scalar Ward identity, irrespective of the form or Ansatz for the kernel of the gap equation, the consistent scalar vertex at zero total momentum can automatically be obtained and hence the consistent susceptibility. This enables ca…
We calculate the intrinsic quark spin contribution to the total proton spin using overlap valence quarks on three ensembles of $2+1$-flavor RBC/UKQCD domain-wall configurations with different lattice spacings. The lowest pion mass of the ensembles is around 171 MeV which is close to the physical point. With overlap fermions and topological charge derived from the overlap operator, we verify the anomalous Ward identity between nucleon states with momentum transfer. Both the connected and disconnected insertions of the axial-vector current are calculated. For the disconnected-insertion part, the…
We present a calculation of the strange and charm quark contributions to the nucleon spin from the anomalous Ward identity (AWI). It is performed with overlap valence quarks on 2+1-flavor domain-wall fermion gauge configurations on a $24^3 \times 64$ lattice with the light sea mass at $m_π = 330$ MeV. To satisfy the AWI, the overlap fermion for the pseudoscalar density and the overlap Dirac operator for the topological density, which do not have multiplicative renormalization, are used to normalize the form factor of the local axial-vector current at finite $q^2$. For the charm quark, we find …
It is recalled why, as already stated in a previous paper, there seems to be an inconsistency in identifying the non perturbative ZA,MOM as the renormalisation of the axial current, or equivalently, in setting as normalisation condition that the renormalised vertex=1 at p^2 = mu^2 at some renormalisation scale mu, where p is the momentum in the legs. Indeed, unlike the vector case, the Ward-Takahashi (WT) identity for the axial current is shown to imply both the renormalisation scale independence of ZA and a mu2 dependence of ZA,MOM. This mu^2 dependence is simply related to certain invariants…
A new formula for the composite Higgs boson mass is given, based on the Ward-Takahashi identity and the Schwinger-Dyson(SD) equation. In this formula the dominant asymptotic solution of the SD equation yields a correct answer, in sharp contrast to the Partially Conserved Dilatation Current(PCDC) approach where the sub- and sub-sub-dominant solutions should be taken into account carefully. In the gauged Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model we find M_H \simeq \sqrt{2}M for the composite Higgs boson mass M_H and the dynamical mass of the fermion M in the case of the constant gauge coupling(with large cut off…
For Wilson and clover fermions traditional formulations of the axial vector current do not respect the continuum Ward identity which relates the divergence of that current to the pseudoscalar density. Here we propose to use a point-split or one-link axial vector current whose divergence exactly satisfies a lattice Ward identity, involving the pseudoscalar density and a number of irrelevant operators. We check in one-loop lattice perturbation theory with SLiNC fermion and gauge plaquette action that this is indeed the case including order $O(a)$ effects. Including these operators the axial Ward…
We derive chiral Ward identities for lattice QCD with Wilson quarks and $N_\mathrm{f} \geq 3$ flavours, on small lattices with Schrödinger functional boundary conditions and vanishingly small quark masses. These identities relate the axial variation of the non-singlet pseudoscalar density to the scalar one, thus enabling the non-perturbative determination of the scale-independent ratio $Z_\mathrm{S}/Z_\mathrm{P}$ of the renormalisation parameters of these operators. We obtain results for $N_\mathrm{f}=3$ QCD with tree-level Symanzik-improved gluons and Wilson-Clover quarks, for bare gauge coup…
We argue that the topological charge of nonabelian gauge theory is unphysical. To show this statement, we use the Adler-Bardeen theorem and the Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin symmetry which are warranted by the perturbative finiteness of the chiral anomaly, thus being free of Gribov ambiguity. In addition to the original argument using the unphysical gauge field component collinear to the spatial derivative of the gauge function, we show the unobservability of the topological charge using the Ward-Takahashi identity. We then present the consequences of this finding and show the consistency with man…
The Galilean invariance of the Navier-Stokes equation is shown to be akin to a global gauge symmetry familiar from quantum field theory. This symmetry leads to a multiple counting of infinitely many inertial reference frames in the path integral approach to randomly stirred fluids. This problem is solved by fixing the gauge, i.e., singling out one reference frame. The gauge fixed theory has an underlying Becchi-Rouet-Stora (BRS) symmetry which leads to the Ward identity relating the exact inverse response and vertex functions. This identification of Galilean invariance as a gauge symmetry is e…
As a consequence of the Ward identity for hadronic matrix elements, we find relations between the differential decay rates of semileptonic decay modes with the underlying quark-level transition $b\rightarrow cτν$, which are valid in scalar models. The decay-mode dependent scalar form factor is the only necessary theoretical ingredient for the relations. Otherwise, they combine measurable decay rates as a function of the invariant mass-squared of the lepton pair $q^2$ in such a way that a universal decay-mode independent function is found for decays to vector and pseudoscalar mesons, respective…

The flavour singlet axial Ward identity with Osterwalder-Seiler twisted mass Wilson fermion action is studied on a finite lattice, with finite fermion mass and the Wilson parameter r up to 1. Approach to the infinite volume chiral limit and emergence of the anomaly is significantly better than that obtained with O(a) and O(a^2) improved fermion actions. We have shown explicitly that up to O(g^2), parity violating terms cancel in the Ward identity even at finite volume and finite lattice spacing.
We perform a comparative study of the ratio of lattice (Wilson fermion) renormalization constants Z_P/Z_S, obtained non-perturbatively from the RI/MOM renormalization conditions and from Ward Identities of on- and off-shell Green's functions. The off-shell Ward Identity used in this work relies on correlation functions with non-degenerate quark masses. We find that, due to discretization effects, there is a 10-15% discrepancy between the two Ward Identity determinations at current bare couplings (beta values). The RI/MOM result is in the same range and has a similar systematic error of 10-15%.…
We consider a lattice formulation of the four dimensional N=1 Wess-Zumino model in terms of the Ginsparg-Wilson relation. This formulation has an exact supersymmetry on the lattice. The lattice action is invariant under a deformed supersymmetric transformation which is non-linear in the scalar fields and it is determined by an iterative procedure in the coupling constant to all orders in perturbation theory. We also show that the corresponding Ward-Takahashi identity is satisfied at fixed lattice spacing. The calculation is performed in lattice perturbation theory up to order $g^3$ (two-loop) …
Lattice gauge theories with Wilson fermions break chiral symmetry. In the U(1) axial vector current this manifests itself in the anomaly. On the other hand it is generally expected that the axial vector flavour mixing current is non-anomalous. We give a short, but strict proof of this to all orders of perturbation theory, and show that chiral symmetry restauration implies a unique multiplicative renormalization constant for the current. This constant is determined entirely from an irrelevant operator in the Ward identity. The basic ingredients going into the proof are the lattice Ward identity…
Interacting theories of N relativistic fermion flavors in reducible spinor representations in 2+1 spacetime dimensions are formulated on a lattice using domain wall fermions (DWF), for which a U(2N) global symmetry is recovered in the limit that the wall separation $L_s$ is made large. The Gross-Neveu (GN) model is studied in the large-N limit and an exponential acceleration of convergence to the large-$L_s$ limit is demonstrated if the usual parity-invariant mass $m\barψψ$ is replaced by the U(2N)-equivalent $im_3\barψγ_3ψ$. The GN model and two lattice variants of the Thirring model are simu…
