We systematically study mass spectra and decay properties of $P$-wave $Ξ_c^\prime$ baryons of the $SU(3)$ flavor $\mathbf{6}_F$, using the methods of QCD sum rules and light-cone sum rules within the framework of heavy quark effective theory. Our results suggest that the three excited $Ξ_c^0$ baryons recently observed by LHCb can be well explained as $P$-wave $Ξ_c^\prime$ baryons: the $Ξ_c(2923)^0$ and $Ξ_c(2939)^0$ are partner states of $J^P = 1/2^-$ and $3/2^-$ respectively, both of which contain one $λ$-mode orbital excitation; the $Ξ_c(2965)^0$ has $J^P = 3/2^-$, and also contains one $λ$-mode orbital excitation. We propose to search for another $P$-wave $Ξ_c^\prime$ state of $J^P = 5/2^-$ in the $Λ_c K/Ξ_c π$ mass spectral in future experiments. Its mass is about $56^{+30}_{-35}$ MeV larger than the $Ξ_c(2965)^0$, and its width is about $18.1^{+19.7}_{-~8.3}$ MeV.
Observation in astronomy suggests that our Universe contains an abundance of matter over antimatter, which can only be explained if the combined CP symmetry is violated. Studies of CP violation have driven the flavor physics with the aim of testing the Standard Model of particle physics and searching for physics beyond. CP violation is discovered in strange, beauty and charm meson systems, however no conclusive sign of CP violation in baryon decays has been observed yet. This review summarizes CP violation studies performed by the LHCb experiment in charmless decays and rare decays of beauty b…
We propose a search for dark photons $A^{\prime}$ at the LHCb experiment using the charm meson decay $D^*(2007)^0 \!\to D^0 A^{\prime}$. At nominal luminosity, $D^{*0} \!\to D^0 γ$ decays will be produced at about 700kHz within the LHCb acceptance, yielding over 5 trillion such decays during Run 3 of the LHC. Replacing the photon with a kinetically-mixed dark photon, LHCb is then sensitive to dark photons that decay as $A^{\prime}\!\to e^+e^-$. We pursue two search strategies in this paper. The displaced strategy takes advantage of the large Lorentz boost of the dark photon and the excellent v…
A model that can simultaneously explain Dark Matter relic density and the apparent matter anti-matter imbalance of the universe has been recently proposed. The model requires $b$-hadron branching fractions to Dark Matter at the per mille level. The $b$-hadrons decay to a dark sector baryon, $ψ_{\rm{DS}}$, which has a mass in the region $940$ MeV/c$^{2} \leq m(ψ_{\rm{DS}}) \leq 4430$ MeV/c$^{2}$. In this paper, we discuss the sensitivity of the LHCb experiment to search for this dark baryon, covering different types of topology and giving prospects for Runs 3 and 4 of the LHC, as well as for th…
In this paper we review the hadroproduction mechanisms of double-charm baryons for the different experimental environments and reinterpret the SELEX and LHCb results.
LHCb is one of the four experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (CERN), dedicated to the study of b-hadrons. Throughout my research, I studied in particular b-baryons which are abundantly produced at the LHCb. My habilitation summarises the studies of fundamental properties of these particles within the Standard Model. In particular, I discuss both lifetime and mass measurements. This work is followed by a search of New Physics using a Lepton universality test. Finally, I discuss my contribution to the upgrade detectors of the LHCb experiment in particular those related to the calorimeter and…
Over the last few years LHCb with present energies found some discrepancies in $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ FCNC transitions including anomalies in the angular observables of $B\to K^*μ^+μ^-$, particularly in $P_5^\prime$, in low dimuon mass region. Recently, these anomalies are confirmed by Belle, CMS and ATLAS. As the direct evidence of physics beyond-the-SM is absent so far, therefore, these anomalies are being interpreted as indirect hint of new physics. In this context, we study the implication of non universal family of $Z^\prime$ model to the angular observables $P_{1,2,3}$, $P^{\prime}_{4,5,6}…
We study the bottom $Λ_b(6146)^0$ baryon, newly discovered by the LHCb Collaboration. By adopting an interpolating current of $(L_ρ, L_λ)=(0,2)$ type and $D$-wave nature with spin-parity quantum numbers $J^P=\frac{3}{2}^+$ for this heavy bottom baryon, we calculate its mass and residue. Using these spectroscopic parameters, we also investigate its dominant decays $Λ_b(6146)^0\rightarrowΣ_bπ$ and $Λ_b(6146)^0\rightarrowΣ^*_bπ$ and estimate the width of $Λ_b(6146)^0$ obtained via these channels. The obtained mass, $m_{Λ_b}=(6144\pm 68)$~MeV is in accord nicely with the experimental data. The wid…
We calculate the next-to-leading-order cross section for the inclusive production of $Λ_b$ baryons in pp collisions in the general-mass variable-flavor-number scheme. We use realistic evolved non-perturbative fragmentation functions obtained from fits to B-meson production in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation and compare our results for transverse-momentum and rapidity distributions with recent experimental data from the CMS and the LHCb collaborations at the CERN LHC. We find satisfactory agreement in general, with some indication for the need to modify the available fragmentation functions at larger va…
In this paper we show that the intrinsic heavy-quark QCD mechanism for the hadroproduction of heavy hadrons at large $x_F$ can resolve the apparent conflict between measurements of double-charm baryons by the SELEX fixed-target experiment and the LHCb experiment at the LHC collider. We show that both experiments are compatible, and that both results can be correct. The observed spectroscopy of double-charm hadrons is in agreement with the predictions of supersymmetric light front holographic QCD.
We study an extended Standard Model with a gauged U(1)$^{\prime}$ flavor symmetry, motivated not only by the fermion mass hierarchy but also by the excesses in $B \to K^{(*)} l l$ reported by the LHCb collaborations. The U(1)$^{\prime}$ charges are assigned to quarks and leptons in a flavor-dependent manner, and flavored Higgs doublets are also introduced in order to detail the Yukawa couplings at the renormalizable level. Then, the fermion mass hierarchy is realized by the vacuum alignment of the Higgs doublets. In this model, flavor-changing currents involving the gauge boson of U(1)$^{\prim…
Inspired by the newly observed $Ω_c^0$ states at LHCb, we decode their properties by performing an analysis of mass spectrum and decay behavior. Our studies show that the five narrow states, i.e., $Ω_c(3000)^0$, $Ω_c(3050)^0$, $Ω_c(3066)^0$, $Ω_c(3090)^0$, and $Ω_c(3119)^0$, could be grouped into the $1P$ states with negative parity. Among them, the $Ω_c(3000)^0$ and $Ω_c(3090)^0$ states could be the $J^P=1/2^-$ candidates, while $Ω_c(3050)^0$ and $Ω_c(3119)^0$ are suggested as the $J^P=3/2^-$ states. $Ω_c(3066)^0$ could be regarded as a $J^P=5/2^-$ state. Since the the spin-parity, the electr…
We study the $Λ_b(6146)^0$ and $Λ_b(6152)^0$ recently observed by LHCb using the method of QCD sum rules within the framework of heavy quark effective theory. Our results suggest that they can be interpreted as $D$-wave bottom baryons of $J^P = 3/2^+$ and $5/2^+$ respectively, both of which contain two $λ$-mode excitations. We also investigate other possible assignments containing $ρ$-mode excitations. We predict masses of their strangeness partners to be $m_{Ξ_b(3/2^+)} = 6.26^{+0.11}_{-0.14}$ GeV and $m_{Ξ_b(5/2^+)} = 6.26^{+0.11}_{-0.14}$ GeV with the mass splitting $ΔM = 4.5^{+1.9}_{-1.5}$…
We consider the lepton-number-violating processes in $Λ_b$/$Λ_c$ decays mediated by on-shell GeV-scale sterile neutrino. We calculate the branching ratio for the following processes: $Λ_b^{0} \rightarrow \mathcal{B}^+ μ^{-}μ^- π^+$, where $\mathcal{B}^+$ is $Λ_c^+$ or proton, and $Λ_c^{+} \rightarrow Λμ^{+}μ^+ π^-$, as function of the mass of the sterile neutrino $m_N$ and the heavy-light mixing coefficient of the extended Pontecorvo-Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata (PMNS) matrix $|U_{μN}|^2$. The effect of finite detector size is included in our calculation. After comparing the theoretical effective bran…
New resonance $Λ_c(2860)^+$, reported by LHCb, is a key to establish \emph{D}-wave charmed and charmed-strange baryon families. In this work, we first carry out an analysis of mass spectra of the $λ$-mode excited charmed and charmed-strange baryon states, which may reveal the relation of $Λ_c(2860)^+$, $Λ_c(2880)^+$, $Ξ_c(3055)^+$ and $Ξ_c(3080)^+$, $i.e.$, $Λ_c(2860)^+$ and $Λ_c(2880)^+$ can form a \emph{D}-wave doublet $[3/2^+,5/2^+]$ while $Ξ_c(3055)^+$ and $Ξ_c(3080)^+$ are the strange partners of $Λ_c(2860)^+$ and $Λ_c(2880)^+$, respectively. Further study of their two-body Okubo-Zweig-Ii…
We perform a general SU(3)$_F$ analysis of $b\rightarrow c\bar{c}s(d)$ decays of members of the beauty baryon antitriplet to a member of the light baryon octet and a singlet. Under several reasonable assumptions we found $\left\vert \mathcal{A}(Ξ_b^0\rightarrow ΛS)/ \mathcal{A}(Ξ_b^0\rightarrow Ξ^0 S)\right\vert\approx 1/\sqrt{6}\, \left\vert V_{cb}^* V_{cd} / (V_{cb}^* V_{cs})\right\vert$ and $\left\vert\mathcal{A}(Λ_b\rightarrow Σ^0 S)/\mathcal{A}(Λ_b\rightarrow ΛS)\right\vert \sim 0.02$. These two relations have been recently probed by LHCb for the case of $S=J/ψ$. The former agrees with th…
Beauty baryons are being observed in large numbers in the LHCb detector. The rich kinematic distributions of their multibody decays are therefore becoming accessible and provide us with new opportunities to search for CP violation. We analyse the angular distributions of some three- and four-body decays of spin-$1/2$ baryons using the Jacob-Wick helicity formalism. The asymmetries that provide access to small differences of CP-odd phases between decay amplitudes of identical CP-even phases are notably discussed. The understanding gained on processes featuring specific resonant intermediate sta…
In a previous paper we suggested an explanation for the peak designated as $Z(4430)^+$ in the $ψ^\primeπ^+$ mass spectrum, observed by Belle in ${\bar{\!B}} \to {ψ^\prime} π^+ K$ decays, as an effect of $\bar{\!D}{}^{\,*0}D^{\,+} \to ψ^\primeπ^+$ rescattering in the decays ${\bar{\!B}} \to {D_{s}^{\,\prime -}} {D}$, where the $D_{s}^{\,\prime -}$ is an as-yet unobserved radial excitation of the pseudoscalar ground state $D_{s}^{\,-}$-meson. In this paper, we demonstrate that this hypothesis provides an explanation of the double $Z^+$-like peaking structures, which were studied by LHCb with muc…
Though not considered in general, purely baryonic decays could shed light on the puzzle of the baryon number asymmetry in the universe by means of a better understanding of the baryonic nature of our matter world. As such, they constitute a yet unexplored class of decay processes worth investigating. We propose to search for purely baryonic decay processes at the LHCb experiment. No such type of decay has ever been observed. In particular, we concentrate on the decay $Λ_b^0\to p\bar pn$, which is the simplest purely baryonic decay mode, with solely spin-1/2 baryons involved. We predict its dec…
We study the four-body baryonic $B\to {\bf B_1 \bar B_2}M_1 M_2$ decays with $\bf B_{1,2}$ ($M_{1,2}$) being charmless baryons (mesons). In accordance with the recent LHCb observations, each decay is considered to proceed through the $B\to M_1 M_2$ transition together with the production of a baryon pair. We obtain that ${\cal B}(B^-\to Λ\bar p π^+π^-)=(3.7^{+1.5}_{-1.0} )\times 10^{-6}$ and ${\cal B}(\bar B^0\to p\bar p π^+π^-,p\bar p π^+ K^-)=(3.0\pm 0.9,6.6\pm 2.4)\times 10^{-6}$, in agreement with the data. We also predict ${\cal B}(B^-\toΛ\bar p K^+ K^-)=(3.0^{+1.3}_{-0.9})\times 10^{-6}$…
Triggered by a recent announcement by the LHCb Collaboration of five excited $Ω^0_c$ resonances of small widths we propose an interpretation based on the Chiral Quark Soliton Model. We argue that three of the LHCb resonances are parity ($-$) excitations of the ground state SU(3) sextets, while the other two with the smallest widths are exotic pentaquarks that belong to the SU(3) $\overline{\mathbf{15}}$. We first briefly review the model and discuss the status of the putative $Θ^+(1540)$. Next we show how to generalize the model to the case of heavy baryons. We test this approach against the g…
The strong coupling constants of hadronic multiplets are fundamental parameters which carry information of the strong interactions among participating particles. These parameters can help us construct the hadron-hadron strong potential and gain information about the structure of the involved hadrons. Motivated by the recent observation of the doubly charmed $Ξ_{cc}$ state by LHCb, we determine the strong coupling constants among the doubly heavy spin-1/2 baryons, $ Ξ^{(\prime)}_{QQ^\prime }$, $ Ω^{(\prime)}_{QQ^\prime}$ and light pseudoscalar mesons, $ π$, $ K $, $η$ and $ η^\prime $ within th…
We present a model for the $J/ψΛ$ spectrum in $B^-\to J/ψΛ\bar{p}$ decays, including the $P_{ψs}^Λ(4338)$ baryon recently observed by the LHCb collaboration. We assume production via triangle diagrams which couple to the final state via non-perturbative interactions which are constrained by heavy-quark and $SU_3$-flavor symmetry. The bulk of the distribution is described by a triangle diagram with a color-favored electroweak vertex, while the sharp $P_{ψs}^Λ(4338)$ enhancement is due to the triangle singularity in another diagram featuring a $1/2^-$ baryon consistent with $Σ_c(2800)$. We predi…
Stimulated by recent progress made by the LHCb Collaboration in discoveries of new bottom baryons, e.g., the $Ξ_{b}(6227)^{-}$ and the $Σ_{b}(6097)^{\pm}$, we re-examine the orbitally excited spectrum of the charmed and bottom baryons using Regge approach in the heavy quark-diquark picture. The results indicate that the spin-averaged mass spectrum of the orbitally-excited charmed and bottom baryons can be described by a linear Regge relation, which is derived from the rotating QCD string model. By giving further mass-splitting analysis of spin-dependent interactions, we explain the baryons $Ξ_…
Selecting the newly observed $Ξ_b(6227)^-$ by LHCb as a study example, we decode its inner structure by giving the mass spectrum analysis and the investigation of its two-body strong decay behaviors. Our result indicates that the $Ξ_b(6227)^-$ is a good candidate of the $P$-wave $Ξ_b^{\prime}$ state with $J^P=3/2^-$ or $5/2^-$. In addition, we further provide the information of the properties of the partners of the $Ξ_b(6227)^-$. These predicted states include three $2S$ states and the remaining $1P$ states in the bottom-strange baryon family. The calculated sizable Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka$-$allowe…
The recently discovered $P_c(4380)^+$ and $P_c(4450)^+$ states at LHCb have masses close to the $\bar DΣ_c^*$ and $\bar D^*Σ_c$ thresholds, respectively, which suggest that they may have significant meson-baryon molecular components. We analyze these states in the framework of a constituent quark model which has been applied to a wide range of hadronic observables, being the model parameters, therefore, completely constrained. The $P_c(4380)^+$ and $P_c(4450)^+$ are studied as molecular states composed by charmed baryons and open charm mesons. Several bound states with the proper binding energ…
It is interesting to search for new physics beyond the standard model at LHCb. We suggest that weak decays of doubly charmed baryon such as $Ξ_{cc}(3520)^+, Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ to charmless final states would be a possible signal for new physics. In this work, we consider two models, i.e. the unparticle and $Z'$ as examples to study such possibilities. We also discuss the cases for $Ξ^0_{bb}, Ξ_{bb}^-$ which have not been observed yet, but one can expect to find them when LHCb begins running. Our numerical results show that these two models cannot result in sufficiently large decay widths, therefore …
The pentaquark $P_c^+(4450)$ recently discovered by LHCb has been interpreted as a bound state of $Ψ(2S)$ and nucleon. The charmonium-nucleon interaction which provides the binding mechanism is given, in the heavy quark limit, in terms of charmonium chromoelectric polarizabilities and densities of the nucleon energy-momentum tensor (EMT). In this work we show in model-independent way, by exploring general properties of the effective interaction, that $Ψ(2S)$ can form bound states with nucleon and $Δ$. Using the Skyrme model to evaluate the effective interaction in the large-$N_c$ limit and est…
Two bottom $Σ_b(6097)^\pm$ baryons were observed in the final states $Λ_b^0π^-$ and $Λ_b^0π^+$ in $pp$ collision by LHCb collaboration, whose masses and widths were measured. In a $^{3}P_{0}$ model, the strong decay widths of two ground $S$-wave and seven excited $P$-wave $Σ_b$ baryons have been systematically computed. Numerical results indicate that the newly observed $Σ_b(6097)^\pm$ are very possibly $Σ_{b2}^1({3\over 2}^-)$ with $J^P={3\over 2}^-$ or $Σ_{b2}^1({5\over 2}^-)$ with $J^P={5\over 2}^-$. The predicted decay widths of $Σ_b(6097)^\pm$ are consistent with experimental measurement …

The LHCb Collaboration recently observed five narrow $Ω_c^{0}$ resonances, and measured their masses and widths through the decays $ Ω_c^{0} \to Ξ_c^{+}K^{-}$. Motivated by this discovery, and also by the fact that the ground-state bottom baryon $Ω_b^{-}$ with spin-1/2 was already found experimentally, we perform theoretical investigation of the spin-1/2 and spin-3/2, $Ω_b$, baryons by calculating decay width of their first orbitally and radially excited states to $Ξ_b^{0} K^{-}$. For this purpose, we employ QCD sum rule method on the light-cone by including into analysis the $K$ meson distrib…
We study the charmless two-body $Λ_b\to Λ(ϕ,η^{(\prime)})$ and three-body $Λ_b\to ΛK^+K^- $ decays. We obtain ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to Λϕ)=(3.53\pm 0.24)\times 10^{-6}$ to agree with the recent LHCb measurement. However, we find that ${\cal B}(Λ_b\to Λ(ϕ\to)K^+ K^-)=(1.71\pm 0.12)\times 10^{-6}$ is unable to explain the LHCb observation of ${\cal B}(Λ_b\toΛK^+ K^-)=(15.9\pm 1.2\pm 1.2\pm 2.0)\times 10^{-6}$, which implies the possibility for other contributions, such as that from the resonant $Λ_b\to K^- N^*,\,N^*\toΛK^+$ decay with $N^*$ as a higher-wave baryon state. For $Λ_b\to Λη^{(\prime)}$, we s…
We show that the $R_K$ puzzle in LHCb data and the discrepancy in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon can be simultaneously explained if a 10 MeV mass $Z^\prime$ boson couples to the muon but not the electron, and that clear evidence of the nonstandard matter interactions of neutrinos induced by this coupling may be found at DUNE.
We systematically study the $S$-wave doubly charmed baryons using the method of QCD sum rules. Our results suggest that the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ recently observed by LHCb can be well identified as the $S$-wave $Ξ_{cc}$ state of $J^P = 1/2^+$. We study its relevant $Ω_{cc}$ state, whose mass is predicted to be around 3.7 GeV. We also systematically study the $P$-wave doubly charmed baryons, whose masses are predicted to be around 4.1 GeV. Especially, there can be several excited doubly charmed baryons in this energy region, and we suggest to search for them in order to study the fine structure of the …
Motivated by the recent LHCb observation of $CP$ violation in charm, we study $CP$ violation in the charmed baryon decays. A simple method to search for the $CP$ violation relations in the flavor $SU(3)$ limit, which is associated with a complete interchange of $d$ and $s$ quarks, is proposed. With this method, hundreds of $CP$ violation sum rules in the doubly and singly charmed baryon decays can be found. As examples, the $CP$ violation sum rules in two-body charmed baryon decays are presented. Some of the $CP$ violation sum rules could help the experiment to find better observables. As bypr…
A symmetry-preserving truncation of the strong-interaction bound-state equations is used to calculate the spectrum of ground-state $J=1/2^+$, $3/2^+$ $(qq^\prime q^{\prime\prime})$-baryons, where $q, q^\prime, q^{\prime\prime} \in \{u,d,s,c,b\}$, their first positive-parity excitations and parity partners. Using two parameters, a description of the known spectrum of 39 such states is obtained, with a mean-absolute-relative-difference between calculation and experiment of 3.6(2.7)%. From this foundation, the framework is subsequently used to predict the masses of 90 states not yet seen empirica…
On March 26th, 2019, at the Rencontres de Moriond QCD conference, the LHCb Collaboration reported the observation of three new pentaquarks, namely $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$, which are consistent with the loosely bound molecular hidden-charm pentaquark states composed of an S-wave charmed baryon $Σ_c$ and an S-wave anti-charmed meson ($\bar{D}, \bar{D}^*$). In this work, we present a direct calculation by the one-boson-exchange (OBE) model and demonstrate explicitly that the $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ do correspond to the loosely bound $Σ_c\bar{D}$ with $(I=1/2,J^P=…
The LHCb experiment is capable of studying four-body decays of the $b$-flavored baryons $Λ_b$ and $Ξ_b^0$ to charmless final states consisting of charged pions, kaons, and baryons. We remark on the search in such modes for CP-violating triple product asymmetries and for CP rate asymmetries relative to decays involving charmed baryons.
We present the ground and excited state spectra of $Ω^{0}_{c}$ baryons with spin up to 7/2 from lattice quantum chromodynamics with dynamical quark fields. Based on our lattice results, we predict the quantum numbers of five $Ω^{0}_{c}$ baryons, which have recently been observed by the LHCb Collaboration. Our results strongly indicate that the observed states $Ω_c(3000)^0$ and $Ω_c(3050)^0$ have spin-parity $J^P = 1/2^{-}$, the states $Ω_c(3066)^0$ and $Ω_c(3090)^0$ have $J^P = 3/2^{-}$, whereas $Ω_c(3119)^0$ is possibly a $5/2^{-}$ state.
In this work, we present an analysis of the nonleptonic charmonium modes $B_s^0 \to J / ψf_2^\prime(1525)$ and $B_s^0 \to J/ψK^+K^-$. Within the framework of the factorization approach and using the perturbative QCD for the evaluation of the relevant form factors, we find a branching fraction for the two-body channel of BR$(B_s^{0} \to J/ψf_2^{\prime}(1525)) = (1.6 {}^{+0.9}_{-0.7})\times 10^{-4}$ which is in agreement with the experimental values reported by the LHCb and Belle Collaborations. The associated polarization fractions to this vector-tensor mode are also presented. On the other han…
In this article, we study the ${1\over 2}^+$ doubly heavy baryon states $Ω_{QQ}$ and $Ξ_{QQ}$ by subtracting the contributions from the corresponding ${1\over 2}^-$ doubly heavy baryon states with the QCD sum rules, and make reasonable predictions for their masses. Those doubly heavy baryon states maybe observed at the Tevatron, the LHCb and the PANDA.
The LHCb collaboration has presented first experimental evidence that spin-carrying matter and antimatter differ. The study looked at four-body decays of the $Λ_b^0$ baryon. Differences in the behaviour of matter and antimatter are associated with the non-invariance of fundamental interactions under the combined charge-conjugation and parity transformations, known as $C\!P$ violation. We discuss purely baryonic decay processes, i.e. decay processes involving only spin-carrying particles. They are yet unexplored elementary processes. Their study opens a new chapter of flavour physics in the rou…
In this work, the lepton-number-violating processes in $|ΔL|=2$ decays of $Λ_b^0$ baryon, $Λ_b^0 \to p π^+μ^- μ^-$ and $Λ_b^0 \to Λ_c^+ π^+μ^- μ^-$, are investigated for the first time, via an intermediate on-shell Majorana neutrino $N$ with a mass in the GeV scale. We explore the experimental sensitivity of these dimuon channels at the LHCb and CMS experiments, in which heavy neutrino lifetimes in the accessible ranges of $τ_N = [1, 100, 1000]$ ps are considered. For a integrated luminosity collected of 10 and 50 fb${}^{-1}$ at the LHCb and 30, 300 and 3000 fb${}^{-1}$ at the CMS, we found si…
LHCb reported anomalies in $B\to K^* μ^+μ^-$, $B_s\toϕμ^+μ^-$ and $R(K)=B\to K μ^+μ^-/B\to K e^+e^-$. Furthermore, BaBar, BELLE and LHCb found hints for the violation of lepton flavour universality violation in $R(D^{(*)})=B\to D^{(*)}τν/B\to D^{(*)}\ellν$. In this note we reexamine these decays and their correlations to $B\to K^{(*)}ν\barν$ using gauge invariant dim-6 operators. For the numerical analysis we focus on scenarios in which new physics couples, in the interaction eigenbasis, to third generation quarks and lepton only. We conclude that such a setup can explain the $b\to sμ^+μ^-$ da…
We perform a theoretical analysis of the $Λ_b \to J/ψK^- p$ reaction from where a recent LHCb experiment extracts a $Λ(1405)$ contribution in the $K^- p$ spectrum close to threshold and two baryon states of hidden charm in the $J/ψ\,p$ spectrum. We recall that baryon states of this type have been theoretically predicted matching the mass, width and $J^P$ of the experiment, concretely some states built up from the $J/ψ\, N$, $\bar D^* Λ_c$, $\bar D^* Σ_c$, $\bar D Σ^*_c$ and $\bar D^* Σ^*_c$ coupled channels. We assume that the observed narrow state around 4450 MeV has this nature and we are ab…
The LHCb collaboration have recently updated their analysis of the resonant $J/ψ\, p$ mass spectrum in the decay $Λ_b^0 \to J/ψ\, p\, K^-$, making use of their combined Run~1 and Run~2 data. In the updated analysis, three narrow states, $P_c (4312)^+$, $P_c (4440)^+$, and $P_c (4457)^+$, are observed. The spin-parity assignments of these states are not yet known. We interpret these narrow resonances as compact hidden-charm diquark-diquark-antiquark pentaquarks. Using an effective Hamiltonian, based on constituent quarks and diquarks, we calculate the pentaquark mass spectrum for the complete $…
We examine eta prime photoproduction, as a novel tool to study baryon resonances around 2 GeV, of particular interest to the quark shell model, which predicts a number of them. We find important roles of the form factors at the strong vertices, and show that the N^*(2080) can be probed efficiently by this reaction.
We use the method of light-cone sum rules to study the electromagnetic transition of the $Ξ^{*++}_{cc}$ into $Ξ^{++}_{cc}γ$, whose decay width is estimated to be $13.7~{^{+17.7}_{-~7.9}}$ keV. This value is large enough for the $Ξ^{*++}_{cc}$ to be observed in the $Ξ^{++}_{cc}γ$ channel, and we propose to continually search for it in future LHCb and BelleII experiments.
The heavy baryon system bounded by the strong interaction has a rich internal structure, so its mass spectra can have the fine structure similar to the line spectra of atom bounded by the electromagnetic interaction. We systematically study the internal structure of $P$-wave $Ω_b$ baryons and calculate their $D$-wave decay properties. The present study, together with our previous studies on their mass spectra and $S$-wave decay properties, suggest that all the four excited $Ω_b$ baryons recently discovered by LHCb can be well explained as $P$-wave $Ω_b$ baryons, and their beautiful fine struct…
In this work we study the doubly charmed baryon decays $Ξ_{cc}^{++}\toΞ_c^{(\prime)+}π^+$ within the framework of the non-relativistic quark model (NRQM). Factorizable amplitudes are expressed in terms of transition form factors, while nonfactorizable amplitudes arising form the inner $W$-emission are evaluated using current algebra and the pole model and expressed in terms of baryonic matrix elements and axial-vector form factors. Nonperturbative parameters are then calculated using the NRQM. They can be expressed in terms of the momentum integrals of baryon wave functions, which are in turn …
The LHCb Experiment at CERN has observed a doubly-charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{++} =ccu$ with a mass of $3621.40 \pm 0.78$ MeV, consistent with many predictions. We use the same methods that led us to predict $M(Ξ_{cc},~J^P{=}1/2^+) = 3627 \pm 12$ MeV and $M(Ξ_{cc}^*,~J^P{=}3/2^+) = 3690 \pm 12$ MeV to predict $M(Ω_{cc}^+,J^P{=}1/2^+) = 3692 \pm 16$ MeV and $M(Ω_{cc}^*,~J^P{=} 3/2^+) = 3756 \pm 16$ MeV. Production and decay are discussed briefly, and predictions for $M(Ω_{bc})$ and $M(Ω_{bb})$ are included.
The mass and the wave function of doubly charmed $Ξ^{++}_{cc}$ (ccu) baryon are evaluated using Green Function Monte Carlo method to solve the three-body problem with Cornell potential. The mass of $Ξ^{++}_{cc}$ with spin $1/2$ is in a good agreement with the LHCb value. Simulation of the wave function by random walks resulted in a configuration of the quark-diquark type. The radius of $Ξ^{++}_{cc}$ is much larger than the size needed for a large isospin splitting. The prediction for the $Ω_{cc}$ mass is presented.
Motivated by the very recent measurements performed at the LHCb and the Tevatron of the $B_s^0-\bar B_s^0$ mixing, in this paper we revisit it in a family non-universal $Z^{\prime}$ model, to check if a simultaneous explanation for all the mixing observables, especially for the like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry observed by the D0 collaboration, could be made in such a specific model. In the first scenario where the $Z^\prime$ boson contributes only to the off-diagonal element $M_{12}^s$, it is found that, once the combined constraints from $ΔM_s$, $ϕ_s$ and $ΔΓ_s$ are imposed, the model could …
A new scheme of state classification is proposed and applied to analyze masses of the heavy baryons $Ω_{Q}$, $Σ_{Q}$ and $Ξ_{Q}^{\prime}$ in P-waves. The results confirm all excited $Ω_{c}$ and $Ω_{b}$ baryons reported recently by LHCb to be bound states of a P-wave $ss$-diquark and a respective charm or bottom quark, and thereby predict Regge trajectories for more excited $Ω_{c}$ and $Ω_{b}$ baryons. We suggest one excited {$J^{P}=5/2^{-}$} $Ω_{b}$ state to be unseen by LHCb around $6352$ MeV, and predict P-wave masses of all spin-partners of the odd-parity baryons $Σ_{c}(2800)/Ξ_{c}^{\prime}…
