We study the matter effect caused by non-standard neutrino interactions (NSI) in the future solar neutrino experiments, DUNE, HK and MICA. The upcoming reactor experiment, JUNO is expected to provide the most precise measurements of solar neutrino oscillation parameters and is going to open up the era of sub-percent precision in the leptonic mixing sector of the Standard Model (SM). Considering JUNO can measure $Δm ^2 _{21}$ and $θ_{12}$ by sub-percent precision and assuming SM as the null hypothesis, we study the possibility to constrain NSI parameters by the future solar neutrino experiments such as DUNE, HK and MICA. For this purpose, we study the effect of NSI on solar neutrino propagation in the Sun and Earth and explore the dependence of the day-night asymmetry on the NSI parameters. We also study the effect of NSI at the water Cerenkov detector on the simulated data for these experiments.
We investigate the potential of the next generation long-baseline neutrino experiments DUNE and T2HK as well as the upcoming reactor experiment JUNO to constrain Non-Standard Interaction (NSI) parameters. JUNO is going to provide the most precise measurements of solar neutrino oscillation parameters as well as determining the neutrino mass ordering. We study how the results of JUNO combined with those of long-baseline neutrino experiments such as DUNE and T2HK can help to determine oscillation parameters and to constrain NSI parameters. We present excluded regions in NSI parameter space, $ε_{α…
We study the matter effect caused by nonstandard neutrino interactions (NSI) in the next generation long-baseline neutrino experiments, DUNE, T2HK and T2HKK. If multiple NSI parameters are nonzero, the potential of these experiments to detect CP violation, determine the mass hierarchy and constrain NSI is severely impaired by degeneracies between the NSI parameters and by the generalized mass hierarchy degeneracy. In particular, a cancellation between leading order terms in the appearance channels when $ε_{eτ} = \cotθ_{23} ε_{eμ}$, strongly affects the sensitivities to these two NSI parameters…
We investigate the effects of charged-current (CC) nonstandard neutrino interactions (NSIs) at the source and at the detector in the simulated data for the planned Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), while neglecting the neutral-current NSIs at the propagation due to the fact that several solutions have been proposed to resolve the degeneracies posed by neutral-current NSIs while no solution exists for the degeneracies due to the CC NSIs. We study the effects of CC NSIs on the simultaneous measurements of $θ_{23}$ and $δ_{CP}$ in DUNE. The analysis reveals that 3$σ$ C.L. measurement o…
We discuss the sensitivity reach of a neutrino factory measurement to non-standard neutrino interactions (NSI), which may exist as a low-energy manifestation of physics beyond the Standard Model. We use the muon appearance mode ν_e --> ν_μand consider two detectors, one at 3000 km and the other at 7000 km. Assuming the effects of NSI at the production and the detection are negligible, we discuss the sensitivities to NSI and the simultaneous determination of θ_{13} and δby examining the effects in the neutrino propagation of various systems in which two NSI parameters ε_{αβ} are switched on. Th…
We discuss ways to explore non-standard interactions (NSI) which neutrinos may possess by expressing them as effective four Fermi operators with coefficient of the order of (M_{W} / M_{NP})^2 ~0.01 (0.0001) for energy scales of new physics as M_{NP} ~1 (10) TeV. Neutrino Factory is a prime candidate for such apparatus that can reach to the extreme precision. I describe a two detector setting, one at baseline L~3000 km and the other at L~7000 km, which is able to solve the notorious theta_{13}-NSI confusion, and possibly also the two-phase confusion. The resultant sensitivities to off-diagonal …
The Non-Standard Interactions (NSIs) are subdominant effects, often appearing in various extensions of SM, which may impact the neutrino oscillations through matter. It is important and interesting to explore the impact of NSIs in the ongoing and upcoming precise neutrino oscillations experiments. In this work, we have studied the imprints of a scalar-mediated NSI in three upcoming long-baseline (LBL) experiments (DUNE, T2HK, T2HKK). The effects of scalar NSI appears as a medium-dependent correction to the neutrino mass term. Its contribution scales linearly with matter density, making LBL exp…
We study the effects of non-standard interactions on the oscillation pattern of atmospheric neutrinos. We use neutrino oscillograms as our main tool to infer the role of non-standard interactions (NSI) parameters at the probability level in the energy range, $E \in [1,20]$ GeV and zenith angle range, $\cos θ\in [-1,0]$. We compute the event rates for atmospheric neutrino events in presence of NSI parameters in the energy range $E \in [1,10]$ GeV for two different detector configurations - a magnetized iron calorimeter and an unmagnetized liquid Argon time projection chamber which have differen…
We present a new analysis of non-universal and flavor changing non-standard neutrino interactions (NSI) in ν_e e or \barν_e e scattering. Our global analysis of these process includes all relevant experiments, such as the most recent MUNU measurement from reactor neutrinos, both in the context of the Standard Model as well as extensions where NSI are present. We also compare our constraints on non-universal and flavor changing NSI with results from previous analyses. We stress the importance of combining neutrino and anti-neutrino data in the resulting constraints on electroweak paramaters, an…
In the era of precision neutrino physics, we study the influence of matter NSI on the question of neutrino mass ordering and its resolution. At long baseline experiments, since matter effects play a crucial role in addressing this very important question, it is timely to investigate how sub-leading effects due to NSI may affect and drastically alter inferences pertaining to this question. We demonstrate that the sensitivity to mass ordering gets significantly impacted due to NSI effects for various long baseline experiments including the upcoming long baseline experiment, Deep Underground Neut…
The impact of heavy mediators on neutrino oscillations is typically described by non-standard four-fermion interactions (NSIs) or non-unitarity (NU). We focus on leptonic dimension-six effective operators which do not produce charged lepton flavor violation. These operators lead to particular correlations among neutrino production, propagation, and detection non-standard effects. We point out that these NSIs and NU phenomenologically lead, in fact, to very similar effects for a neutrino factory, for completely different fundamental reasons. We discuss how the parameters and probabilities are r…
Considering the theoretical constraints on the charged-current (CC) non-standard neutrino interaction (NSI) parameters in a simplified $W'$ model, we study the sensitivities of the Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) and Future Circular Collider-hadron electron (FCC-he) to the CC NSI parameters through the subprocess $e^{-}q \to W' \to v_{e}q'$. Our results show that the LHeC with $\mathcal{L} = 100\;{\rm fb}^{-1}$ is a little more sensitive to the CC NSI parameters than that of the high-luminosity (HL) LHC, and the absolute values of the lower limits on the CC NSI parameters at the FCC-he a…

I report some progress that occurred since NO-VE08 in the field of non-standard interactions (NSI) of neutrinos. After briefly reviewing theoretical developments, I give a summary of the two works in which I was involved. Firstly, we have formulated a perturbative framework to illuminate the global features of neutrino oscillations with NSI, aiming at exploring method for determination of the standard mixing and the NSI parameters. We have recognized that the parameter degeneracy prevails with an extended form which involves the NSI elements. Furthermore, a completely new type of degeneracy is…

It is by now established that neutrino oscillations occur due to non-zero masses and parameters in the leptonic mixing matrix. The extraction of oscillation parameters may be complicated due to subleading effects such as non-standard neutrino interactions (NSI) and one needs to have a fresh look how a particular parameter value is inferred from experimental data. In the present work, we focus on an important parameter entering the oscillation framework - the leptonic CP violating phase $δ$, about which we know very little. We demonstrate that the sensitivity to CP violation gets significantly …

We explore the implications of the Borexino experiment's real time measurements of the lowest energy part of the neutrino spectrum from the primary pp fusion process up to 0.420 MeV through the 7^Be decay at 0.862 MeV to the pep reaction at 1.44 MeV. We exploit the fact that at such low energies, the large mixing angle solution to the Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein matter effects in the sun are small for 7^Be and pep and negligible for pp. Consequently, the neutrinos produced in the sun change their flavor almost entirely through vacuum oscillations during propagation from the sun's surface and …
We consider Non-Standard neutrino Interactions (NSI), described by four-fermion operators of the form $(\barν_α γν_β) (\bar{f} γf)$, where $f$ is an electron or first generation quark. We assume these operators are generated at dimension $\geq 8$, so the related vertices involving charged leptons, obtained by an SU(2) transformation $ν_δ \to e_δ$, do not appear at tree level. These related vertices necessarily arise at one loop, via $W$ exchange. We catalogue current constraints from $\sin^2 θ_W$ measurements in neutrino scattering, from atmospheric neutrino observations, from LEP, and from bo…
The simplest Standard Model extension to explain neutrino masses involves the addition of right-handed neutrinos. At some level, this extension will impact neutrino oscillation searches. In this work we explore the differences and similarities between the case in which these neutrinos are kinematically accessible (sterile neutrinos) or not (mixing matrix non-unitarity). We clarify apparent inconsistencies in the present literature when using different parametrizations to describe these effects and recast both limits in the popular neutrino non-standard interaction (NSI) formalism. We find that…

The evidence for dark matter particles, $χ$, is compelling based on Galactic to cosmological scale observations. Thus far, the promising weakly interacting massive particle scenario have eluded detection, motivating alternative models of dark matter. We consider scenarios involving superheavy dark matter (SHDM) that potentially can decay or annihilate to neutrinos and antineutrinos. In the mass range $m_χ=10^7-10^{15}\,{\rm GeV}$, we evaluate the sensitivities of future observatories POEMMA and GRAND for indirect dark matter detection via the measurement of neutrino-induced extensive air showe…
