Tensor products of quandles and 1-handles attached to surface-links

A quandle is an algebra with two binary operations satisfying three conditions which are related to Reidemeister moves in knot theory. In this paper we introduce the notion of the (canonical) tensor product of a quandle. The tensor product of the knot quandle or the knot symmetric quandle of a surface-link in $4$-space can be used to classify or construct invariants of $1$-handles attaching to the surface-link.

A $G$-family of quandles and handlebody-knots

We introduce the notion of a $G$-family of quandles which is an algebraic system whose axioms are motivated by handlebody-knot theory, and use it to construct invariants for handlebody-knots. Our invariant can detect the chiralities of some handlebody-knots including unknown ones.

Linear extensions of multiple conjugation quandles and MCQ Alexander pairs

A quandle is an algebra whose axioms are motivated from knot theory. A linear extension of a quandle can be described by using a pair of maps called an Alexander pair. In this paper, we show that a linear extension of a multiple conjugation quandle can be described by using a pair of maps called an MCQ Alexander pair, where a multiple conjugation quandle is an algebra whose axioms are motivated from handlebody-knot theory.

Ribbon n-knots with isomorphic quandles

Let $K, K'$ be ribbon knottings of $n$-spheres with $1$-handles in $S^{n+2}$, $n\geq 2$. We show that if the knot quandles of these knots are isomorphic, then the ribbon knottings are stably equivalent, in the sense of Nakanishi and Nakagawa, after taking a finite number of connected sums with trivially embedded copies of $S^{n-1}\times S^{1}$.

G-Family Polynomials

We introduce two notions of quandle polynomials for G-families of quandles: the quandle polynomial of the associated quandle and a G-family polynomial with coefficients in the group ring of G. As an application we define image subquandle polynomial enhancements of the G-family counting invariant for trivalent spatial graphs and handlebody-links. We provide examples to show that the new enhancements are proper.

A multiple conjugation biquandle and handlebody-links

We introduce a multiple conjugation biquandle, and show that it is the universal algebra to define a semi-arc coloring invariant for handlebody-links. A multiple conjugation biquandle is a generalization of a multiple conjugation quandle. We extend the notion of $n$-parallel biquandle operations for any integer $n$, and show that any biquandle gives a multiple conjugation biquandle with them.

Unknotting numbers and triple point cancelling numbers of torus-covering knots

Ribbon-moves for 2-knots with 1-handles attached and Khovanov-Jacobsson numbers

We prove that a crossing change along a double point circle on a 2-knot is realized by ribbon-moves for a knotted torus obtained from the 2-knot by attaching a 1-handle. It follows that any 2-knots for which the crossing change is an unknotting operation, such as ribbon 2-knots and twist-spun knots, have trivial Khovanov-Jacobsson number.

On invariants of surfaces in the $3$-sphere

In this paper we study isotopy classes of closed connected orientable surfaces in the standard $3$-sphere. Such a surface splits the $3$-sphere into two compact connected submanifolds, and by using their Heegaard splittings, we obtain a $2$-component handlebody-link. In this paper, we first show that the equivalence class of such a 2-component handlebody-link up to attaching trivial $1$-handles can recover the original surface. Symplectic 2-handles and transverse links

A standard convexity condition on the boundary of a symplectic manifold involves an induced positive contact form (and contact structure) on the boundary; the corresponding concavity condition involves an induced negative contact form.
