Here, we study the microlensing of radially pulsating stars. Discerning and characterizing the properties of distant, faint pulsating stars is achievable through high-cadence microlensing observations. Combining stellar variability period with microlensing gives the source distance, type, and radius and helps better determine the lens parameters. Considering periodically variations in their radius and surface temperature, their microlensing light curves are resulted from multiplication of the magnification factor with variable finite size effect by the intrinsic brightness curves of pulsing source. The variable finite source size due to pulsation can be significant for transit and single microlensing and while caustic-crossing features. This kind of deviation in the magnification factor is considerable when the ratio of the source radius to the projected lens-source distance is in the range of $ρ_{\star}/u \in[0.4,10]$ and its duration is short and in the same order of the time of crossing the source radius. Other deviations due to variable source intensity and its area make colored and periodic deviations which are asymmetric with respect to the signs of pulsation phase. The positive phases makes deviations with larger amplitude that negative phase. These deviations dominate in filters with short wave lengths (e.g., $B-$band). The position of magnification peaks in microlensing of variable stars varies and this displacement differs in different filters.
One possibility for detecting low-amplitude pulsational variations is through gravitational microlensing. During a microlensing event, the temporary brightness increase leads to improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio, and thereby better detectability of pulsational signatures in light curves. We explore this possibility under two primary considerations. The first is when the standard point-source and point-lens approximation applies. In this scenario, dividing the observed light curve by the best-fitted microlensing model leads to residuals that result in pulsational features with improved u…
We study the microlensing of Non-Radially Pulsating (NRP) stars. Pulsations are formulated for stellar radius and temperature using spherical harmonic functions with different values of l,m. The characteristics of the microlensing light curves from NRP stars are investigated in relation to different pulsation modes. For the microlensing of NRP stars, the light curve is not a simple multiplication of the magnification curve and the intrinsic luminosity curve of the source star, unless the effect of finite source size can be ignored. Three main conclusions can be drawn from the simulated light c…
Thanks to relatively firm mode identification, possible based on period ratios only, High Amplitude Delta Scuti Stars pulsating in at least three radial modes are promising targets for asteroseismic inference. In this study we used the most numerous sample of HADS from the OGLE inner bulge fields that likely pulsate in either three or four radial modes simultaneously. We have computed a grid of pulsation models along evolutionary tracks and determined the physical parameters of stars by matching their pulsation periods and period ratios. For 176 HADS we determined physical parameters, i.e. mas…
SPEC_PULS describes a suite of computer programs to simulate the emergent spectrum from a radially-pulsating star. It combines a Christy-type non-linear pulsation code with classical stellar atmosphere codes. The principal aim is to interpret the dynamical spectrum of the radially pulsating extreme helium star V652 Her, which shows a strong shock at minimum radius. The components are general enough to treat other classes of radial pulsation. The theoretical spectrum from a shocked pulsation model shows line doubling, with the blue component emerging at standstill velocity and accelerating blue…
Classical Cepheid and RR Lyrae variables are radially pulsating stars that trace young and old-age stellar populations, respectively. These classical pulsating stars are the most sensitive probes for the precision stellar astrophysics and the extragalactic distance measurements. Despite their extensive use as standard candles thanks to their well-defined Period-Luminosity relations, distance measurements based on these objects suffer from their absolute primary calibrations, metallicity effects, and other systematic uncertainties. Here, I present a review of classical Cepheid, RR Lyrae, and Ty…
The studies of semiregular variables of stars by different authors are considered, and the main theoretical and observational problems associated with these stars are reviewed. Their evolutionary status and possible connection with long-period variables such as Mira Ceti are discussed. Individual objects belonging to different types of semiregular variables are described in detail. After leaving the main sequence, the stars pass through the region of instability of Cepheids, turning into radially pulsating variables of type δCephei. These stars can be associated with semiregular variables gian…

Pulsation period decrease during the initial stage of the thermal pulse in the helium-burning shell of the Mira-type variable T UMi is investigated with numerical methods of stellar evolution and radiation hydrodynamics. To this end, a grid of evolutionary tracks was calculated for stars with masses on the main sequence $1M_\odot\le M_\textrm{ZAMS}\le 2.2M_\odot$ and metallicity $Z=0.01$. Selected models of AGB evolutionary sequences were used for determination of the initial conditions and the time--dependent inner boundary conditions for the equations of hydrodynamics describing evolutionary…
With the advent of the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST), time-domain astronomy will be faced with an unprecedented volume and rate of data. Real-time processing of variables and transients detected by such large-scale surveys is critical to identifying the more unusual events and allocating scarce follow-up resources efficiently. We develop an algorithm to identify these novel events within a given population of variable sources. We determine the distributions of magnitude changes (dm) over time intervals (dt) for a given passband f, pf(dm|dt), and use these distributions to compute the …
