Suppose F is a special Gamma-space equipped with a natural transformation to the infinite symmetric power functor. Segal's infinite loop space machine associates with F a spectrum, denoted kF, equipped with a map to the integral Eilenberg-Mac Lane spectrum. In our previous work we constructed a filtration of kF by a sequence of spectra, which we called the "stable rank filtration of F". In this paper we give a new construction of the stable rank filtration. The new construction is combinatorial in nature and avoids the process of stabilization. In particular, we construct a sequence of special Gamma-spaces whose group completion yields the stable rank filtration.
We present a simplified treatment of stability of filtrations on finite spaces. Interestingly, we can lift the stability result for combinatorial filtrations from [CSEM06] to the case when two filtrations live on different spaces without directly invoking the concept of interleaving. We then prove that this distance is intrinsic by constructing explicit geodesics between any pair of filtered spaces. Finally we use this construction to obtain a strengthening of the stability result.
The spaces of configurations of non-$k$-overlapping discs have been studied as a bimodule over the little discs operad. In fact, the spaces form a filtered operad. We define and study the induced structure on the homology.
To any finite simplicial complex X, we associate a natural filtration starting from Chari and Joswig's discrete Morse complex and abutting to the matching complex of X. This construction leads to the definition of several homology theories, which we compute in a number of examples. We also completely determine the graded object associated to this filtration in terms of the homology of simpler complexes. This last result provides some connections to the number of vertex-disjoint cycles of a graph.
We study the Koszul duality between augmented $E_n$-algebras and augmented $E_n$-coalgebras in a symmetric monoidal stable infinity $1$-category equipped with a filtration in a suitable sense. We obtain that the Koszul duality constructions restrict to an equivalence between augmented algebras and coalgebras which have some positivity and completeness with respect to the filtration. We also obtain that the Koszul duality construction is functorial between carefully constructed generalized Morita categories consisting of those algebras/coalgebras in each dimension.
We identify the equivariant structure of the filtered pieces of the motivic filtration defined by Bhatt, Morrow and Scholze on the topological Hochschild cohomology spectrum of polynomial algebras over $\mathbb{F}_p$.
In this paper, we extend the Goldman-Millson Theorem for $L_\infty$ algebras. We consider two $L_\infty$ algebras $L$ and $\tilde{L}$ endowed with descending, bounded above and complete filtrations compatible with the $L_\infty$ structures and ${U:L \rightarrow \tilde{L}}$ an $\infty$-morphism respecting the filtrations. We prove that in the setting of the linear part of $U$, say $ψ$, being a quasi-isomorphism on the r-1st page of the spectral sequences and ${H^1 ((\mathfrak{F}_{2^q} L)/(\mathfrak{F}_{\mathrm{min}(2^{q+1},r)} L))=0}$ for every $q$ with $2^q < r$ and ${H^i((\mathfrak{F}_1 \tild…
In this master thesis, we extend results from classical simple homotopy theory to the world of stratified homotopy theory. To obtain a well-established framework to work in, we prove a series of results on two model categories of simplicial sets and topological spaces, both equipped with a notion of filtration, introduced by Sylvain Douteau in his PHD thesis. In particular, we show that there is a fully faithful embedding of homotopy categories from the (finite) filtered simplicial into the filtered topological setting. We also use these results to characterize the morphisms in the topological…
The classical Künneth formula in algebraic topology describes the homology of a product space in terms of that of its factors. In this paper, we prove Künneth-type theorems for the persistent homology of the categorical and tensor product of filtered spaces. That is, we describe the persistent homology of these product filtrations in terms of that of the filtered components. In addition to comparing the two products, we present two applications in the setting of Vietoris-Rips complexes: one towards more efficient algorithms for product metric spaces with the maximum metric, and the other recov…
Persistent homology is a topological feature used in a variety of applications such as generating features for data analysis and penalizing optimization problems. We develop an approach to accelerate persistent homology computations performed on many similar filtered topological spaces which is based on updating associated matrix factorizations. Our approach improves the update scheme of Cohen-Steiner, Edelsbrunner, and Morozov for permutations by additionally handling addition and deletion of cells in a filtered topological space and by processing changes in a single batch. We show that the c…
