This paper intends to collect the various evidences observed by ATLAS and CMS within searches for heavy scalars and pseudocalars. These searches in tt, hZ, tautau and 2jets+W, obtain individual excesses in five channels, each at a modest level of significance, ~3 standard deviations, but, put together, give a strong evidence for a pseudoscalar at ~400 GeV. Preliminary interpretations are given which suggest that additional observations should appear in the HL-LHC phase.
The CMS Collaboration at the LHC recently reported an accumulation of data around 28 GeV in the invariant-mass distribution of muon pairs in association with a b quark jet and at least a second jet. This is analysed here in the light of the possible existence of a (pseudo)scalar boson with mass of about 57.5 GeV. We find that part of the data may originate in the radiative decay of Z bosons into pairs consisting of the lighter boson and a photon, giving rise to dimuon decay products that either stem from the photon or from the (pseudo)scalar boson.
Threshold enhancements predicted by the Resonance-Spectrum-Expansion (RSE) production amplitude and observed by the BaBaR Collaboration in open-bottom production above the $B\bar{B}$ threshold, as well as by several collaborations in open-charm production above the $D\bar{D}$ threshold, can also be seen in diphoton amplitudes at energies above 100 GeV. One such threshold effect is visible in tau-tau and muon-muon data of the L3 Collaboration at LEP, and in the diphoton and four-lepton data of the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations at LHC, as it is enhanced by the nearby presence of the Higgs resonan…
NMSSM has enough ingredients to explain the diphoton excess at 750 GeV: singlet-like (pseudo) scalar ($a$) $s$ and higgsinos as heavy vector-like fermions. We consider the production of the 750 GeV singlet-like pseudo scalar a from a decay of the doublet-like pseudo scalar $A$, and the subsequent decay of $a$ into two photons via higgsino loop. We demonstrate that this cascade decay of the NMSSM Higgs bosons can explain the diphoton excess in the 13 TeV data consistently with the absence of a significant excess in the 8 TeV data.
The 125 GeV resonance discovered at the LHC could be a heavy quarkonium pseudoscalar meson. The diagonalization of the mass matrix of the isoscalar quarkonium states $|ζ>$ and $|ζ^{0'}>$ produces the states identified with the pseudoscalar heavy quarkonium mesons $ζ^0$ and $ζ^{0'}$. For a mixing angle $ϕ\sim 36\,^{\circ}$ the mass of the bound state pseudoscalar resonance $ζ^0$ is $m_{ζ^0}\sim 125$ GeV. The decay rates of the quarkonium $ζ^0$ meson are estimated and compared to the standard model Higgs boson predictions. The importance of determining the spin-parity of the 125 GeV resonance is…
We propose that the SU(2) x SU(2) x U(1) (aka G221) models could provide us a 750 GeV scalar resonance that may account for the diphoton excess observed at the LHC while satisfying present collider constraints. The neutral component of the $SU(2)_R$ scalar multiplet can be identified as the 750 GeV scalar. In the lepto-phobic and fermio-phobic G221 models the new charged gauge boson W' could be light, and we find that the diphoton decay width could be dominated by the loop contribution from the $W'$. To initiate gluon fusion production, it is necessary to extend the G221 symmetry to the Pati-S…
We consider a $N_f=3$ chiral Lagrangian which describes the interaction between the pseudoscalar glueball, $J^{PC}=0^{-+}$, and scalar and pseudoscalar mesons. We calculate the decay widths of the pseudoscalar glueball, where we fixed its mass to 2.6 GeV, as predicted by lattice QCD simulations, and take a closer look in the scalar-isoscalar decaying channel. We present our results as branching ratios which are relevant for the future PANDA experiment at the FAIR facility.
The combined constraints from six early Run 2 ATLAS searches for supersymmetry are interpreted in the phenomenological minimal supersymmetric extension to the Standard Model (pMSSM). Each of the searches was based on proton-proton collision data recorded in 2015 at $\sqrt{s} =13$ TeV with 3.2 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. Sensitivity to squarks of the first two generations and gluinos are evaluated using fast detector simulation. Results are presented in the 19-parameter R-parity conserving pMSSM with the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) being the neutralino. Considering 181.8k poi…
Interpreting the diphoton mass excesses near 750~GeV reported by ATLAS and CMS as pseudoscalar gluinonia, bound states of two gluinos, we perform a scan in Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetry parameter space, fixing $m_{\tilde{g}}\approx 380$~GeV and identifying an experimentally viable point. We generate events with this point, perform fast simulation, and carry out an analysis modeled on the ATLAS search which reproduces features of the diphoton excess. This interpretation requires an enhancement of the signal strength above the nominal rate found in the literature and neglecting the gaugino mass …
We conjecture that a 125 GeV resonance $ζ^0$ with $J^{PC}=0^{-+}$ composed of a quark-antiquark state may have been observed at the LHC. The decay modes of this pseudoscalar particle are determined using the non-relativistic quark model. The leading order partial decay widths for the decays of the pseudoscalar quarkonium resonance $ζ^0\rightarrow γγ$ and $ζ^0\rightarrow gg$ are compared to the standard model Higgs particle decays $H^0\rightarrow γγ$ and $H^0\rightarrow gg$. An experimental analysis at the LHC of the observed production cross sections for the $ζ^0$ and the Higgs particle could …
In this short note, we describe the preparation of updated templates for the interpretation of SUSY results from the LHC in the context of mSUGRA. The standard (m_0,m_{1/2}) plane is shown for fixed mu > 0 and m_t = 173.2 GeV. Two scenarios are considered: (1) A_0 = 0 GeV and tan(beta)=10 and (2) A_0 = -500 GeV and tan(beta)=40. In each case, the universal scalar mass parameter m_0 varies in the range [40,3000] GeV, while the universal gaugino mass parameter m_{1/2} varies in the range [100,1000] GeV. We delineate notable regions in parameter space, including the region with a charged LSP (sta…
In this paper we explore the possibility of a pseudoscalar resonance to account for the 750 GeV diphoton excess observed both at ATLAS and at CMS. We analyze the ingredients needed from the low energy perspective to obtain a sufficiently large diphoton rate to explain the signal while avoiding constraints from other channels. Additionally, we point out composite Higgs models in which one can naturally obtain a pseudoscalar at the 750 GeV mass scale and we estimate the pseudoscalar couplings to standard model particles that one would have in such models. A generic feature of models that can exp…
LHC has found hints for a Higgs particle of 125 GeV. We investigate the possibility that such a particle is a mixture of scalar and pseudoscalar states. For definiteness, we concentrate on a two Higgs doublet model with explicit CP violation and soft Z2 violation. Including all Higgs production mechanisms, we determine the current constraints obtained by comparing h -> gamma gamma with h -> V V*, and comment on the information which can be gained by measurements of h -> b \bar{b}. We find bounds |s_2| < 0.83 at one sigma, where |s_2|=0 (|s_2|=1) corresponds to a pure scalar (pure pseudoscalar)…
Using two suitable benchmark scenarios that satisfy the experimental constraints on the total decay width of the $125 \, {\rm GeV}$ Higgs boson, we determine the bounds on light CP-odd spin-0 states in the 2HDM+$a$ model that arise from existing LHC searches. Our work represents the first thorough study that considers the parameter space with $m_a \lesssim 100 \, {\rm GeV}$ and should prove useful for 2HDM+$a$ interpretations of future ATLAS, CMS and LHCb searches for pseudoscalars with masses below the electroweak scale.
Axion-like particles (ALPs), relatively light (pseudo-)scalars coupled to two gauge bosons, are a common feature of many extensions of the Standard Model. Up to now there has been a gap in the sensitivity to such particles in the MeV to 10 GeV range. In this note we show that LEP data on $Z\toγγ$ decays provides significant constraints in this range (and indeed up to the $Z$-mass). We also discuss the sensitivities of LHC and future colliders. Particularly the LHC shows promising sensitivity in searching for a pseudo-scalar with $4 \lesssim m_a \lesssim 60$ GeV in the channel $pp \to 3 γ$ with…
Following an investigation of several indications for new physics from LHC data, a detailed exploration of the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model was elaborated in a previous publication. This framework is used here to interpret the findings of Crivellin et al., which were obtained by combining the 2 photon mass spectrum from ATLAS and CMS, adding extra conditions, the most efficient one being the presence of >90 GeV missing transverse energy. The claim is a ~5 s.d. excess at 151 GeV. The GM model naturally explains this as coming from the cascade A(400)->H(151)Z, where H(151) is an isosinglet predict…
We perform a global analysis of the constraints on a possible Higgs-like particle with mass ~ 125 GeV that are provided by the ATLAS, CDF, CMS and D0 experiments. We combine the available constraints on possible deviations from the Standard Model Higgs couplings to massive vector bosons and to fermions, considering also the possibilities of non-standard loop-induced couplings to photon and gluon pairs. We analyze the combined constraints on pseudo-dilaton scenarios and on some other scenarios in which the possible new particle is identified as a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson in a composite elec…

We investigate theoretical interpretations of the 1.4 GeV J^PC exotic resonance reported by the E852 collaboration. It is argued that interpretation in terms of a hybrid meson is untenable. A K-matrix analysis shows that the 1.4 GeV enhancement in the E852 eta pi data can be understood as an interference of a non-resonant Deck-type background and a resonance at 1.6 GeV. A final state rescattering calculation shows that the 1.6 GeV hybrid has a eta pi width which is bounded above by 57 \pm 14 MeV.
Since the discovery in 2012 of the Higgs boson at the LHC, as the last missing piece of the Standard Model of particle physics, any hint of new physics has been intensively searched for, with no confirmation to date. There are however slight deviations from the SM that are worth investigating. The CMS collaboration has reported, in a search for heavy resonances decaying in $t \bar t$ with a 13-TeV center-of-mass energy and a luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$, deviations from the SM predictions at the 3.5$σ$ level locally (1.9$σ$ after the look-elsewhere effect). In addition, in the ditau final stat…
In this article we propose a simultaneous collider search strategy for a pair of scalar bosons in the NMSSM through the decays of a very light pseudoscalar. The massive scalar has a mass around 126 GeV while the lighter one can have a mass in the vicinity of 98 GeV (thus explaining an apparent LEP excess) or be much lighter. The successive decay of this scalar pair into two light pseudoscalars, followed by leptonic pseudoscalar decays, produces clean multi-lepton final states with small or no missing energy. Furthermore, this analysis offers an alternate leptonic probe for the 126 GeV scalar t…
By using QCD Sum Rules, we found that the charged hidden charm tetraquark $[c u][\bar{c} \bar{d}]$ states with $ J^P = 1^-$ and $ 2^+$, which are possible quantum numbers of the newly observed charmonium-like resonance $Z_c(4025)$, have masses of $m_{1^-}^c = (4.54 \pm 0.20) \, \text{GeV}$ and $m_{2^+}^c = (4.04 \pm 0.19) \, \text{GeV}$. The contributions up to dimension eight in the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) were taken into account in the calculation. The tetraquark mass of $J^{P} = 2^{+}$ state was consistent with the experimental data of $Z_c(4025)$, suggesting the $Z_c(4025)$ state …
The quest for new heavy states is a critical component of the LHC physics program. In this letter, we study the search for pseudoscalar bosons produced in association with a $t\bar{t}$ pair. We consider the final state $t\bar{t} A \to t\bar{t} b\bar{b}$ with di-leptonic top pair signature, and reconstruct the boosted $A \to b\bar{b}$ candidate with jet substructure techniques, achieving a remarkable sensitivity over a broad range of pseudoscalar masses and Yukawa couplings. We apply this strategy to a Type-I Two-Higgs-Doublet Model, demonstrating its ability to probe a realistic, UV-complete e…
We investigate the bounds on light pseudoscalars that arise from a variety of collider searches. Special attention is thereby devoted to the mass regions $[3, 5] \, {\rm GeV}$ and $[9,11] \, {\rm GeV}$, in which a meaningful theoretical description has to include estimates of non-perturbative effects such as the mixing of the pseudoscalar with QCD bound states. A compendium of formulas that allows to deal with the relevant corrections is provided. It should prove useful for the interpretation of future LHC searches for light CP-odd spin-0 states.
We scrutinise the evidences recently reported by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations for compatible 750 GeV resonances which appear in the di-photon channels of the two experiments in both the 8 TeV and 13 TeV datasets. Similar resonances in di-boson, di-lepton, di-jet and $t\bar t$ final states are instead not detected. After discussing the properties and the compatibility of the reported signals, we study the implications on the physics beyond the Standard Model with particular emphasis on possible scalar extensions of the theory such as singlet extensions and the two Higgs doublet models. We a…
We consider interpretations of the recent $\sim 3 σ$ reports by the CMS and ATLAS collaborations of a possible $X(\sim 750~{\rm GeV})$ state decaying into $γγ$ final states. We focus on the possibilities that this is a scalar or pseudoscalar electroweak isoscalar state produced by gluon-gluon fusion mediated by loops of heavy fermions. We consider several models for these fermions, including a single vector-like charge $2/3$ T quark, a doublet of vector-like quarks $(T, B)$, and a vector-like generation of quarks, with or without leptons that also contribute to the $X \to γγ$ decay amplitude. …
We show that the cusp in the dark matter (DM) distribution required to explain the recently found excess in the gamma-ray spectrum at energies ~130 GeV in terms of the DM annihilations cannot survive the tidal forces if it is offset by ~1.5^\circ from the Galactic centre as suggested by observations.
We propose a possibility of the 125 GeV Higgs being a pseudo-Goldstone boson in supersymmetry with extra vector-like fermions. Higgs mass is obtained from loops of top quark and vector-like fermions from the global symmetry breaking scale f at around TeV. The mu, Bmu/mu \sim f are generated from the dynamics of global symmetry breaking and the Higgs quartic coupling vanishes at f as tan beta \simeq 1. The relation of msoft \sim $4πM_Z$ with f \sim mu \sim m_soft \sim TeV is obtained and large mu does not cause a fine tuning for the electroweak symmetry breaking. The Higgs to di-photon rate can…
Low-scale models of neutrino mass generation often feature sterile neutrinos with masses in the GeV-TeV range, which can be produced at colliders through their mixing with the Standard Model neutrinos. We consider an alternative scenario in which the sterile neutrino is produced in the decay of a heavier particle, such that its production cross section does not depend on the active-sterile neutrino mixing angles. The mixing angles can be accessed through the decays of the sterile neutrino, provided that they lead to observable displaced vertices. We present an explicit realization of this scen…
Recently, an excess of events in diphoton channel with invariant mass of about 750 GeV has been reported by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations. Considering it as a tantalizing hint for new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM), we propose a simple extension of the SM with an additional doublet Higgs $H^{'}$ and a singlet $s$. We consider the neutral component $H^{\prime }_0$ of $H'$ as the 750 GeV resonance, and assume that $s$ is lighter than 2.6 GeV. In particular, $H^{\prime }_0$ can be produced at tree level via $q{\bar q}$ production, and decay into a pair of $s$ at tree level. And then $s…
The observation of the Egret experiment of an excess of diffuse gamma rays with energies above E_γ=1 GeV has previously been interpreted in the context of the minimal supergravity model (mSUGRA) as coming from neutralino annihilation into mainly b-quarks in the galactic halo, with neutralino mass in the vicinity of 50-70 GeV. We observe that in order to obtain the correct relic abundance of neutralinos in accord with WMAP measurements, the corresponding neutralino-proton direct detection (DD) rates should be in excess of recent limits from the Xenon-10 collaboration. While it does not appear p…
The allowed standard model Higgs mass range has been reduced to a region between 114 and 130 GeV or above 500 GeV, at the 99% confidence level, since the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) program started. Furthermore some of the experiments at Tevatron and LHC observe excesses that could arise from a spin-0 particle with a mass of about 125 GeV. It is therefore timely to compare the standard model Higgs predictions against those of a more general new spin-0 state, either scalar or pseudo-scalar. Using an effective Lagrangian approach we investigate the ability to discriminate between a scalar or pse…
We explore the possibility to explain the 750 GeV diphoton excess recently measured by ATLAS and CMS collaborations in terms of a massive spin-2 particle. In particular, we consider the case in which the top-quark loops can give the similar amplitudes as the tree-level contributions to the diphoton and digluon channels. Such a scenario can be naturally realized in the generalized warped extra dimension models. As a result, the parameter space favored by the diphoton data implies that the top-quark loop contribution can compete to and even dominate over the tree-level amplitude in the spin-2 pa…
The exotic J^{PC}= 1^{-+} resonance π_{1}(1600)is examined in the framework of the Quark Model with Constituent Gluon (QMCG). We report the possibility of interpreting that resonance as quark-antiquark-gluon hybrid meson, with a masse = 1.65+0.05-0.04 GeV and a rho-pi decay width = 0.28+0.14-0.09 GeV.
Pseudo Nambu-Goldstone bosons (pNGBs) are naturally light spin-zero particles, which can be interesting dark matter (DM) candidates. We study the phenomenology of a pNGB theta associated with an approximate symmetry of the neutrino seesaw sector. A small coupling of theta to the Higgs boson is induced radiatively by the neutrino Yukawa couplings. By virtue of this Higgs portal interaction (i) the pNGB acquires a mass m_theta proportional to the electroweak scale, and (ii) the observed DM relic density can be generated by the freeze-in of theta-particles with mass m_theta ~ 3 MeV. Alternatively…
We provide results for the spectrum of scalar and pseudoscalar glueballs in pure Yang-Mills theory using a parameter-free fully self-contained truncation of Dyson-Schwinger and Bethe-Salpeter equations. The only input, the scale, is fixed by comparison with lattice calculations. We obtain ground state masses of $1.9\,\text{GeV}$ and $2.6\,\text{GeV}$ for the scalar and pseudoscalar glueballs, respectively, and $2.6\,\text{GeV}$ and $3.9\,\text{GeV}$ for the corresponding first excited states. This is in very good quantitative agreement with available lattice results. Furthermore, we predict ma…
Recently Liang et al. found a tentative line signal at about 43 GeV in the directions of sixteen nearby Galaxy Clusters. If arising from dark matter annihilation, the mass of the dark matter particles should be $m_χ\sim 43$ GeV and the annihilation cross section $\langle σv \rangle \sim 5\times10^{-28}(\overline{\rm BF}/10^{3})^{-1}~{\rm cm^3~s^{-1}}$ is needed, where $\overline{\rm BF}$ is the averaged boost factor of the annihilation signal of these Galaxy Clusters. In this work we discuss several models which could interpret these features and estimate the model parameters. Usually sizeable…
We discuss the modified top quark condensation model proposed in \cite{VZ2015}. This construction was inspired by the top - seesaw scenario, in which the extra heavy fermion $χ$ is added that may be paired with the top quark. Besides, this model incorporates the ideas of the Little Higgs scenario, in which the $125$ GeV scalar particle appears as a Pseudo - Goldstone boson. This model admits (in addition to the $125$ GeV scalar boson $H$) the heavier scalar excitation $H^\prime$. We consider the region of parameters, where its mass is $M_{H^\prime} \sim 1$ TeV, the width of $H^\prime$ is $Γ_{H…
Within the context of a generalized linear sigma model that includes two nonets of scalar mesons (a two-quark nonet and a four-quark nonet) and two nonets of pseudoscalar mesons (a two-quark nonet and a four-quark nonet) a collective description of scalar and pseudoscalar mesons below and above 1 GeV is studied. The quark contents of these states are probed; estimates on their quark components are extracted; and prediction for pi pi scattering amplitude is made. An overview of these studies is presented here.
A resonance near 750 GeV has been observed at both the ATLAS and CMS experiments in its diphoton decay channel. We propose a possible interpretation based on a simplified model: a 750 GeV singlet scalar resonance, and a minimal stealth vector quark are introduced. At the LHC, the scalar is produced through gluon fusion, and subsequently decays to diphoton final state. The light stealth quarks could enhance the diphoton rate significantly, while still keeping other channels below the current LHC search limits. We find that the stealth quarks around 400 ~ 500 GeV with its coupling to scalar arou…
It has long been suggested that nearby pulsars within $\sim 1 \,{\rm kpc}$ are the leading candidate of the 10-500 GeV cosmic-ray positron excess measured by PAMELA and other experiments. The recent measurement of surface brightness profile of TeV nebulae surrounding Geminga and PSR~B0656+14 by the High-Altitude Water Cherenkov Observatory (HAWC) suggests inefficient diffusion of particles from the sources, giving rise to a debate on the pulsar interpretation of the cosmic-ray positron excess. Here we argue that GeV observations provide more direct constraints on the positron density in the Te…
We propose that the possible 750 GeV diphoton excess can be explained in the color-octet neutrino mass model extended with a scalar singlet $Φ$. The model generally contains $N_s$ species of color-octet, electroweak doublet scalars $S$ and $N_f$ species of color-octet, electroweak triplet $χ$ or singlet $ρ$ fermions. While both scalars and fermions contribute to the production of $Φ$ through gluon fusion, only the charged members induce the diphoton decay of $Φ$. The diphoton rate can be significantly enhanced due to interference between the scalar and fermion loops. We show that the diphoton …
Recently, several groups identified a tentative $γ$-ray line signal with energy $\sim 130$ GeV in the central Galaxy from the Fermi-LAT data. %The morphology study shows that the signal is consistent with dark matter %annihilation, but with an offset $\sim 220$ pc ($1.5^{\circ}$) of the %center from the Galactic center Sgr A$^{\star}$, Such a $γ-$ray line can be interpreted as the signal of dark matter annihilation. However, the offset $\sim 220$ pc ($1.5^{\circ}$) of the center of the most prominent signal region from the Galactic center Sgr A$^{\star}$ has been thought to challenge the dark …
We expand the study of the pseudoscalar glueball and its first excited state by constructing an interaction Lagrangian which produces the two- and three-body decays of the pseudoscalar glueball, $J^{PC}=0^{-+}$, into the (pseudo)scalar and the excited (pseudo)scalar mesons as well as by constructing other two different chiral Lagrangians which describe the two- and three-body decays of the first excited pseudoscalar glueball, $J^{PC}=0^{*-+}$, into the (pseudo)scalar and the excited (pseudo)scalar mesons. We compute the decay channels for the ground state of a pseudoscalar glueball with a mass…
The observable signal of higher-spin particles is rare in current particle collider experiments. In the meantime, there have no evident constraints on the spin of the dark matter particles. And thereby it is natural to consider the possibility that the higher-spin particles behaves as dark matter. In this work, we investigate the direct detection of (spin-$3/2$) gravitino dark matter and (spin-$2$) massive KK-graviton dark matter respectively through the DM-electron scattering. Both the spin-independent (SI) and spin-independent (SD) interactions of DM are considered. Using the experiment data…
We study a chiral Lagrangian which describes the two- and three-body decays of a pseudoscalar glueball into scalar and pseudoscalar mesons. The various branching ratios are a parameter-free prediction of our approach. We compute the decay channels for a pseudoscalar glueball with a mass of 2.6 GeV, as predicted by Lattice QCD in the quenched approximation, which is in the reach of the PANDA experiment at the upcoming FAIR facility. For completeness, we also repeat the calculation for a glueball mass of 2.37 GeV which corresponds to the mass of the resonance X(2370) measured in the BESIII exper…
Structure in the di-$J/ψ$ mass spectrum observed by the LHCb experiment around 6.9 and 7.2 GeV is interpreted in terms of $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ and $2^{++}$ resonances between a $cc$ diquark and a $\bar c \bar c$ antidiquark, using a recently confirmed string-junction picture to calculate tetraquark masses. The main peak around 6.9 GeV is likely dominated by the $0^{++}(2S)$ state, a radial excitation of the $cc$-$\bar c \bar c$ tetraquark, which we predict at $6.871\pm 0.025$ GeV. The dip around 6.75 GeV is ascribed to the opening of the \Swave\ di-$χ_{c0}$ channel, while the dip around 7.2 GeV cou…
We consider implications of the diphoton excess recently observed at the LHC on the anomalous magnetic dipole moment of the muon $(g-2)_μ= 2 a_μ$, hypothesizing that the possible 750 GeV resonance is a (pseudo)scalar particle. The (pseudo)scalar-$γ$-$γ$ interaction implied by the diphoton events might generically contribute to $a_μ$ via 2-loop Barr-Zee type diagrams in a broad class of models. If the scalar is an $SU(2)_L$ singlet, the new contribution to $a_μ$ is much smaller than the current anomaly, $Δa_μ\equiv a_μ^{\rm exp}-a_μ^{\rm SM} \approx (30 \pm 10) \times 10^{-10}$, since the scala…
The ATLAS and CMS groups have recently reported an excess at around 750 GeV with the local significance by about 3 sigma in the diphoton channel at the 13 TeV LHC. We give a possible explanation for the excess by a composite pseudo scalar $(P^0)$ predicted in the one-family model of walking technicolor.
We collected the transverse momentum (mass) spectra of charged hadrons ($π^{-}$, $π^{+}$, $K^{-}$, $K^{+}$, $\overline{p}$, and $p$) produced in collisions over a center-of-mass energy range from 2.70 to 200 GeV (per nucleon pair). The modified Tsallis--Pareto-type function (the TP-like function) with average transverse flow velocity is used to describe the contribution of participant or constituent quarks to transverse momentum of considered hadron. The experimental spectra of $π^{\mp}$ and $K^{\mp}$ (or $\overline{p}$ and $p$) are fitted by the convolution of two (or three) TP-like functions…
While most BSM searches at the LHC focus on heavy new states, the NMSSM contains the possibility of new light states that have escaped detection due to their singlet nature. Here we focus on light pseudoscalars, investigating the parameter space impact of recent LHC searches for such light states stemming from the decay of the 125 GeV Higgs boson. It is shown that, though direct searches can not yet compete with the requirement of the 125 GeV scalar having SM-like couplings, the searches are touching the allowed parameter space and should make a phenomenological impact in the near future.
Annihilation of light dark matter of $m_{\rm DM} \approx (10-40)$ GeV into the Standard Model fermions has been suggested as a possible origin of the gamma-ray excess at GeV energies in the Fermi-LAT data. In this paper, we examine possible model-independent signatures of such dark matter models in other experiments such as AMS-02, colliders, and cosmic microwave background (CMB) measurements. We point out that first generation of fermion final states is disfavored by the existing experimental data. Currently AMS-02 positron measurements provide stringent bounds on cross sections of dark matte…
A simple variant of a realistic flavour symmetry scheme for fermion masses and mixings provides a possible interpretation of the diphoton anomaly as an electroweak singlet "flavon". The existence of TeV scale vector-like T-quarks required to provide adequate values for CKM parameters can also naturally account for the diphoton anomaly. Correlations between $V_{ub}$ and $V_{cb}$ with the vector-like T-quark mass can be predicted. Should the diphoton anomaly survive in a future Run, our proposed interpretation can also be tested in upcoming B and LHC studies.
We consider a renormalizable extension of the standard model whose fermionic dark matter (DM) candidate interacts with a real singlet pseudo-scalar via a pseudo-scalar Yukawa term while we assume that the full Lagrangian is CP-conserved in the classical level. When the pseudo-scalar boson develops a non-zero vacuum expectation value, spontaneous CP-violation occurs and this provides a CP-violated interaction of the dark sector with the SM particles through mixing between the Higgs-like boson and the SM-like Higgs boson. This scenario suggests a minimal number of free parameters. Focusing mainl…
The temperature at the chemical freeze-out and at zero baryochemical potential has been extracted in a global analysis of $e^+e^-$, $p+p$, $p+ \overline{p}$ and $A+A$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=2-1800 GeV per N+N pair. We demonstrate that the temperature at $μ_B$=0, rises with the initial energy density $ε_i$, and saturates above $ε_i$ $\sim$ 1 GeV/fm$^3$. This behaviour is interpreted as mapping out the QCD phase transition universally in particle and nuclear collisions. The critical energy density is therefore identified to be $ε_{crit}$ $\sim$ 1 $\pm$ 0.3 GeV/fm$^3$. We show that strange part…
