In light of the recent LHC Higgs data, we examine the parameter space of type II two-Higgs-doublet model in which the 125 GeV Higgs has the wrong sign Yukawa couplings. Combining related theoretical and experimental limits, we find that the LHC Higgs data exclude most of the parameter space of the wrong sign Yukawa coupling. For $m_H=$ 600 GeV, the allowed samples are mainly distributed in several corners and narrow bands of m_A<20 GeV, 30 GeV<m_A<120 GeV, 240 GeV<m_A<300 GeV, 380 GeV <m_A<430 GeV, and 480 GeV<m_A<550 GeV. For m_A=600 GeV, m_H is required to be less than 470 GeV. The light pseudo-scalar with a mass of 20 GeV is still allowed in case of the wrong sign Yukawa coupling of 125 GeV Higgs.
We consider two Higgs doublet models with a softly broken U(1) symmetry, for various limiting values of the scalar mixing angles $α$ and $β$. These correspond to the Standard Model Higgs particle being the lighter CP-even scalar (alignment) or the heavier CP-even scalar (reverse alignment), and also the limit in which some of the Yukawa couplings of this particle are of the opposite sign from the vector boson couplings (wrong sign). In these limits we impose a criterion for naturalness by demanding that quadratic divergences cancel at one loop. We plot the allowed masses of the remaining physi…
Third family Yukawa unification, as suggested by minimal SO(10) unification, is revisited in light of recent experimental measurements and theoretical progress. We characterize unification in a semi-model-independent fashion, and conclude that finite $b$ quark mass corrections from superpartners must be nonzero, but much smaller than naively would be expected. We show that a solution that does not require cancellations of dangerously large tanbeta effects in observables implies that scalar superpartner masses should be substantially heavier than the Z scale, and perhaps inaccessible to all cur…
In the framework of 2HDM, we explore the wrong-sign Yukawa region with direct and indirect searches up to one-loop level. The direct searches include the latest $H/A \to f\bar f, VV, Vh, hh$ reports at current LHC, and the study of indirect Higgs precision measurements works with current LHC, future HL-LHC and CEPC. At tree level of Type-II 2HDM, for degenerate heavy Higgs mass $m_A=m_H=m_{H^\pm}<800$ GeV, the wrong-sign Yukawa regions are excluded largely except for the tiny allowed region around $\cos(β-α)\in(0.2,0.3)$ under the combined constraints. The excluded region is also nearly indepe…
To explain the observed muon anomaly and simultaneously evade bounds from lepton flavor violation in the same model parameter space is a long cherished dream. In view of a generalized Two Higgs Doublet Model, with a Yukawa structure as a perturbation of Type-X, we are able to get substantial parameter space satisfying this criteria. We are focusing on a region with "{\bf wrong-sign}" lepton-Yukawa coupling which gives rise to an interesting phenomenological consequences. We found that in the "wrong-sign" region, it is possible to probe the low-mass pseudoscalar in flavor-violating decay mode w…
We revisited the scenario of electroweak baryogenesis in the presence of large Yukawa couplings, in which it was found previously that a strongly first order electroweak phase transition can occur with the Higgs mass at its observed value of 125 GeV. Given the sensitivity of the running of the Higgs quartic coupling on the Yukawa coupling constants, we find that the addition of order one Yukawa couplings beyond the top quark drastically lowers the scale at which the Higgs potential becomes unstable. Specifically, even with only one additional order one Yukawa coupling, the scalar potential bec…
The study of the Higgs boson properties is one of the most relevant activities in current particle physics. In particular, the Higgs boson couplings to third generation fermions is an important test of the mechanism of mass generation. In spite of their impact on the production and decay properties of the Higgs boson, the values of these couplings are still uncertain and, in models of new physics, they can differ in magnitude as well as in sign with respect to the Standard Model case. In this article, we study the possibility of a wrong sign bottom-quark Yukawa coupling within the framework of…
We revisit a scenario with an enhanced top yukawa coupling in vector-like quark (VLQ) models, where the top yukawa coupling is larger than the standard model value and the lightest VLQ has a negative yukawa coupling. We find that the parameter space satisfying the LHC bounds of the Higgs signal strengths consistently with the precision measurements is rather wide. Because the Lagrangian parameters of the yukawa couplings are large, such scenario can be realized in some strongly interacting theories. It also turns out that there is a noticeable relation between the contributions of the triangle…
In the framework of type-II two-Higgs-doublet model with a scalar dark matter ($S$), we examine the wrong sign Yukawa coupling of the 125 GeV Higgs which is the only portal between the dark matter and SM sectors. After imposing the constraints from the Higgs searches at the LHC and dark matter experiments, we obtain some interesting observables: (i) The theory, oblique parameters, and the Higgs searches at the LHC can impose stringent constraints on $\tanβ$ in the case of the wrong sign Yukawa coupling of the 125 GeV Higgs. For example, for $m_H=600$ GeV and 140 GeV $<m_A<200$ GeV, $\tanβ$ is …
We discuss scenarios with wrong-sign (WS) Yukawa couplings for the discovered Higgs boson in the Yukawa-aligned two Higgs doublet model. In the WS scenario, Yukawa couplings for down-type quarks and/or charged leptons have an opposite sign as compared to those of the Higgs boson in the standard model, which can be consistent with current flavour data and the Higgs signal strengths. The phenomenology of additional Higgs bosons in such a scenario can be significantly different from that with right-sign Yukawa couplings, mainly due to a larger Higgs boson mixing to be required in the wrong-sign c…
It has been shown that the data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) does not rule out a chiral sequential fourth generation of fermions that obtain their masses through an identical mechanism as the other three generations do. However, this is possible only if the scalar sector of the Standard Model is suitably enhanced, like embedding it in a type-II two-Higgs doublet model. In this article, we try to show that double Higgs production (DHP) can unveil the existence of such a hidden fourth generation in a very efficient way. While the DHP cross-section in the SM is quite small, it is signific…
We consider the two-Higgs-doublet model as a framework in which to evaluate the viability of scenarios in which the sign of the coupling of the observed Higgs boson to down-type fermions (in particular, $b$-quark pairs) is opposite to that of the Standard Model (SM), while at the same time all other tree-level couplings are close to the SM values. We show that, whereas such a scenario is consistent with current LHC observations, both future running at the LHC and a future $e^+ e^-$ linear collider could determine the sign of the Higgs coupling to $b$-quark pairs. Discrimination is possible for…
We consider the wrong-Higgs interactions such as type-III two Higgs doublet models. Generally, such interactions cause flavor problems. However, if new Yukawa interactions have the same flavor structure as that of the standard model(SM), we do not have any flavor problems. In this work we propose a microscopic model for the wrong-Higgs interactions aligned with SM ones in the context of supersymmetry(SUSY) and show their phenomenological implications. Low energy contraints from muon g-2 and rare B decays can be relieved and it can be viable to have low mass superparticle spectra with light dar…
We analyse the possibility that, in two Higgs doublet models, one or more of the Higgs couplings to fermions or to gauge bosons change sign, relative to the respective Higgs Standard Model couplings. Possible sign changes in the coupling of a neutral scalar to charged ones are also discussed. These \textit{wrong signs} can have important physical consequences, manifesting themselves in Higgs production via gluon fusion or Higgs decay into two gluons or into two photons. We consider all possible wrong sign scenarios, and also the \textit{symmetric limit}, in all possible Yukawa implementations …
We study the alignment of Yukawa couplings in the framework of general two Higgs doublet models (2HDMs) considering a scenario in which the lightest neutral Higgs boson is purely CP even while the two heavier neutral Higgs bosons are allowed to mix in the presence of nontrivial CP-violating phases in the Higgs potential. Identifying the lightest neutral Higgs boson as the 125 GeV one discovered at the LHC, we find that the alignment of Yukawa couplings without decoupling could be easily achieved in the type-I 2HDM with no much conflict with the current LHC Higgs precision data. Otherwise, we o…
We consider tan(beta)-enhanced quantum effects in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) including those from the Higgs sector. To this end, we match the MSSM to an effective two-Higgs doublet model (2HDM), assuming that all SUSY particles are heavy, and calculate the coefficients of the operators that vanish or are suppressed in the MSSM at tree-level. Our result clarifies the dependence of the large-tan(beta) resummation on the renormalization convention for tan(beta), and provides analytic expressions for the Yukawa and trilinear Higgs interactions. The numerical effect is analyze…
Many theories require augmenting the Standard Model with additional scalar fields with large order one couplings. We present a new solution to the hierarchy problem for these scalar fields. We explore parity- and $\mathbb{Z}_2$-symmetric theories where the Standard Model Higgs potential has two vacua. The parity or $\mathbb{Z}_2$ copy of the Higgs lives in the minimum far from the origin while our Higgs occupies the minimum near the origin of the potential. This approach results in a theory with multiple light scalar fields but with only a single hierarchy problem, since the bare mass is tied …
A sequential fourth generation is known to be excluded because the non-decoupling contribution to $κ_g$, the Higgs coupling modifier with a gluon pair, is unacceptably large. Recently a new way to save the model was suggested in the Type-II two Higgs doublet model: if the Yukawa couplings of down-type fermions have wrong-sign, the contributions from $t'$ and $b'$ to $κ_g$ are cancelled. We study the theoretical and experimental constraints on this model, focusing on the heavy Higgs bosons. Two constraining features are pointed out. First the exact wrong-sign limit does not allow the alignment,…
One of the main motivations to look beyond the SM is the discrepancy between the theoretical prediction and observation of anomalous magnetic moment of muon. Alleviating this tension between theory and experiment and satisfying the bounds from lepton flavor violation data simultaneously is a challenging task. In this paper, we consider generalised Two Higgs Doublet Model, with a Yukawa structure as a perturbation of Type X Two Higgs Doublet Model. In view of this model, we explore muon anomaly and lepton flavor violation along with constraints coming from B-physics, theoretical constraints, el…
In the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM), if the two Higgs doublets are lighter than some subset of the superpartners of the Standard Model particles, then it is possible to integrate out the heavy states to obtain an effective broken-supersymmetric low-energy Lagrangian. This Lagrangian can contain dimension-four gauge invariant Higgs interactions that violate supersymmetry (SUSY). The "wrong-Higgs" Yukawa couplings generated by one-loop radiative corrections are a well known example of this phenomenon. In this paper, we examine gauge invariant gaugino--higgsino--H…
We revisit the renormalisation group equations (RGE) for general renormalisable gauge theories at one- and two-loop accuracy. We identify and correct various mistakes in the literature for the $β$-functions of the dimensionful Lagrangian parameters (the fermion mass, the bilinear and trilinear scalar couplings) as well as the dimensionless quartic scalar couplings. There are two sources for these discrepancies. Firstly, the known expressions for the scalar couplings assume a diagonal wave-function renormalisation which is not appropriate for models with mixing in the scalar sector. Secondly, t…
The latest LHC data confirmed the existence of a Higgs-like particle and made interesting measurements on its decays into $γγ$, $Z Z^\ast$, $W W^\ast$, $τ^+ τ^-$, and $b \bar{b}$. It is expected that a decay into $Z γ$ might be measured at the next LHC round, for which there already exists an upper bound. The Higgs-like particle could be a mixture of scalar with a relatively large component of pseudoscalar. We compute the decay of such a mixed state into $Z γ$, and we study its properties in the context of the complex two Higgs doublet model, analysing the effect of the current measurements on…
In this paper, we extend the analysis of a Pati-Salam subcritical hybrid $F$-term inflation model, proposed by two of us, by studying the reheating and the baryogenesis (via leptogenesis) of the model. This SUSY GUT model is able to fit low energy electroweak precision data, LHC data, $b$-physics data, in addition to inflation observables such as the tensor-to-scalar ratio and the scalar spectral index. The reheating mechanism of this model is instant preheating due to the bosonic and fermionic broad parametric resonance, while the baryon-to-entropy ratio is obtained from the CP asymmetric rig…
The class of higher-dimensional scenarios, based on a brane-localised Higgs boson coupled to bulk fermions, can address both the flavour puzzle and gauge hierarchy problem. A key question arises due to the possibility of fermion profile discontinuities at the Higgs boundary: how to calculate rigorously the fermion mass spectrum and effective four-dimensional (4D) Yukawa couplings? We show that the proper treatment, leading to physically consistent solutions, does not rely on any Higgs peak regularisation but requires the presence of certain Bilinear Brane Terms (BBT). In particular, no profile…
We investigate the possibility of detectable 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) type-II cross-sections at the High-Luminosity phase of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) for the production of the Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs boson ($h$) in association with a single top (anti)quark over the parameter space region corresponding to the so-called `wrong-sign solution' of the bottom (anti)quark Yukawa coupling. We isolate the latter by using the toolbox Magellan, which performs Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) scans in the presence of all current theoretical and experimental constraints, which relevance…
A light pseudoscalar of the lepton-specific 2HDM can enhance the muon g-2, but suffer from various constraints easily, such as the 125.5 GeV Higgs signals, non-observation of additional Higgs at the collider and even $B_s\to μ^+μ^-$. In this paper, we take the light CP-even Higgs as the 125.5 GeV Higgs, and examine the implications of those observables on a pseudoscalar with the mass below the half of 125.5 GeV. Also the other relevant theoretical and experimental constraints are considered. We find that the pseudoscalar can be allowed to be as low as 10 GeV, but the corresponding $\tanβ$, $\s…
We study the effects from light sfermions on the lightest Higgs boson production and decay at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We find that the scenario with light coloured sfermions -- stops or sbottoms -- has the potential to explain a non-universal alteration, as hinted by LHC data, of the gluon-gluon Fusion ($μ_{ggF}$) with respect to the Vector Boson Fusion ($μ_{VBF}$) event rates and, in particular, can predict $\frac{μ_{VBF}}{μ_{ggF}}>1$ for all Higgs boson decay channels in large areas of the parameter space. We also find that the…
We assume that the 125 GeV Higgs discovered at the LHC is the heavy CP-even Higgs of the two-Higgs-doublet models, and examine the parameter space in the Type-I, Type-II, Lepton-specific and Flipped models allowed by the latest Higgs signal data, the relevant experimental and theoretical constraints. Further, we show the projected limits on $\tanβ$, $\sin(β-α)$, $Hf\bar{f}$ and $HVV$ couplings from the future measurements of the 125 GeV Higgs at the LHC and ILC, including the LHC with integrated luminosity of 300 fb$^{-1}$ (LHC-300 fb$^{-1}$) and 3000 fb$^{-1}$ (LHC-3000 fb$^{-1}$) as well as …
We examine the parameter space of two-Higgs-doublet model of type-II after imposing the relevant theoretical and experimental constraints from the precision electroweak data, $B$-meson decays, the LHC run-I and run-II data. We find that the searches for Higgs via the $τ\barτ,~WW,~ZZ,γγ,~hh,~hZ,~HZ,~AZ$ channels can give strong constraints on the CP-odd Higgs $A$ and heavy CP-even Higgs $H$, and the parameter space excluded by each channel is respectively carved out in detail. The surviving samples are discussed in two different of regions: (i) In the SM-like coupling region of the 125 GeV Higg…
A mirror-extended standard model (MESM) is offered, where in the left-right symmetric underlying action the sector of the standard model (SM) and its mirror copy have the same SU(2)\times U(1) gauge structure and parameters; the mirror fermion counter-partners have opposite chiralities. A theory is used that allows one to obtain MESM in Minkowski space only if we start with an accurate account of gravity and only at the end go to the limit of Minkowski space. Spontaneous breaking of left-right symmetry and the "wrong" sign in the mass terms of the Higgs fields potentials arise due to the initi…
