The semi-constrained NMSSM (scNMSSM), or NMSSM with non-universal Higgs masses, can naturally predict a light dark matter under current constraints including Higgs data, sparticle-mass bounds, dark matter searches, and muon g-2, etc. In this work, we take this scenario of scNMSSM as an example to study the funnel-annihilation mechanisms of light dark matter ($1\!\thicksim\!62$ GeV) and the invisible Higgs decay. In this scenario we found that: (i) There can be four funnel-annihilation mechanisms for the LSP $\tildeχ^0_1$, which are the $h_2$, $Z$, $h_1$ and $a_1$ funnel. (ii) For the $h_1$ and $a_1$ funnel with right relic density, the $\tildeχ^0_1$ mass is lighter than 12 GeV, and the invisible Higgs decay can be $2\%$ at most. (iii) For the $h_2$ and $Z$ funnel with right relic density, the invisible Higgs decay can be about $0.4\%$ and $1\%$ respectively at most. (iv) If the invisible Higgs decay was discovered at the HL-LHC, the four funnel-annihilation mechanisms of light dark matter may be all excluded with $\tildeχ^0_1$ as the only dark matter source. Four benchmark points, one for each mechanism, are proposed for future checking with updated experimental results.
We present a complete calculation of the QCD and SUSY-QCD corrections to neutralino pair annihilation into bottom quark-antiquark pairs through exchange of a pseudoscalar Higgs boson, which is the dominant process in the cosmological A-funnel region of the mSUGRA model. We present numerical predictions for the annihilation cross section and discuss the influence of the correction terms on the cold dark matter relic density with respect to recent cosmological data.
We compute the full O(alpha_s) SUSY-QCD corrections to dark matter annihilation in the Higgs-funnel, resumming potentially large mu tan beta and A_b contributions and keeping all finite O(m_b,s,1/tan^2 beta) terms. We demonstrate numerically that these corrections strongly influence the extraction of SUSY mass parameters from cosmological data and must therefore be included in common analysis tools such as DarkSUSY or micrOMEGAs.
In this paper we study sneutrino dark matter in a recently proposed supersymmetric electroweak-scale inverse seesaw model, in which the majority of the sneutrino dark matter particle is a mixture of the right-handed sneutrino $\tilde{N}^c$ and the singlet field $\tilde{S}$. The scalar field $X$ responsible for the generation of neutrino masses can simultaneously play a crucial role for sneutrino annihilation in the early Universe via the pseudoscalar mediator $A_X$ into neutrinos. We focus here on the dominant annihilation channels and provide all the formulas together with analytic estimates …
Recent measurements by Planck, LHC experiments, and Xenon100 have significant impact on supersymmetric models and their parameters. We first illustrate the constraints in the mSUGRA plane and then perform a detailed analysis of the general MSSM with 13 free parameters. Using SFitter, Bayesian and Profile Likelihood approaches are applied and their results compared. The allowed structures in the parameter spaces are largely defined by different mechanisms of dark matter annihilation in combination with the light Higgs mass prediction. In mSUGRA the pseudoscalar Higgs funnel and stau co-annihila…
We study the cosmological signatures of Invisibly Annihilating Dark Matter (IAnDM), where DM annihilates into dark radiation particles that are decoupled from the Standard Model (SM). In the simple benchmark model we consider here, such invisible annihilation determines the relic abundance of DM via dark thermal freeze-out. We demonstrate that IAnDM may reveal itself through observable, novel signatures that are correlated: scale-dependent $ΔN_\text{eff}$ (number of extra effective neutrinos) in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) spectrum due to DM residual annihilation, while the phase of …
In the Standard Model there are several canonical examples of pure leptonic processes involving the muon, the electron and the corresponding neutrinos which are connected by the crossing symmetry: i) the decay of muon, ii) the inverse muon decay, and iii) the annihilation of a muon and an electron into two neutrinos. Although the first two reactions have been observed and measured since long ago, the third process, resulting in the invisible final state, has never been experimentally tested. It may go either directly, or, at low energies, via the annihilation of a muon and an electron from an …
The pseudoscalar resonance or "A-funnel" in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model~(MSSM) is a widely studied framework for explaining dark matter that can yield interesting indirect detection and collider signals. The well-known Galactic Center excess (GCE) at GeV energies in the gamma ray spectrum, consistent with annihilation of a $\lesssim 40$ GeV dark matter particle, has more recently been shown to be compatible with significantly heavier masses following reanalysis of the background. In this paper, we explore the LHC and direct detection implications of interpreting the GCE in this e…

The fermionic Z-portal dark matter model suffers from severe constraints from direct detection experiments. However, a narrow parameter space around the Z-funnel region is beyond the reach due to the resonance annihilation. In this paper, we provide an intriguing collider prospect for probing the Z-funnel dark matter mass range at the future lepton colliders including the beam polarization feature. We have done a comprehensive analysis for mono-photon signal at the colliders for such a dark matter. A realistic estimation for the 90% C.L. constraints with the systematic beam uncertainties has a…
It was recently argued by Hooper and Goodenough [arXiv:1010.2752] that the excess gamma ray emission from within 1-2 degrees of the galactic center can be well-described by annihilation of ~8 GeV dark matter particles into tau pairs. I show that such a dark matter signal can be obtained naturally in the lepton-specific two-Higgs-doublet model extended by a stable singlet scalar dark matter candidate. The favored parameter region prefers a light Higgs state (below 200 GeV) with enhanced couplings to leptons and sizable invisible branching fraction. Part of the favored region leads to invisible …
We study an effective theory beyond the standard model (SM) where either of two additional gauge singlets, a Majorana fermion and a real scalar, constitutes all or some fraction of dark matter. In particular, we focus on the masses of the two singlets in the range of O(10) MeV-O(10) GeV, with a neutrino portal interaction which plays important roles not only in particle physics but also in cosmology and astronomy. We point out that the dark matter abundance can be thermally explained with (co)annihilation, where the dark matter with a mass greater than 2 GeV can be tested in future lepton coll…
In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model light neutralinos can satisfy the dark matter (DM) abundance constraint by resonant annihilation via a $Z$ or a light Higgs ($h$) boson. In this work we study the current and future status of this scenario by investigating relevant experimental constraints, including DM direct detection, measurements of $Z$ and Higgs invisible decays, and direct searches at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). To take full advantage of the LHC data, we combine the results of all relevant electroweakino searches performed by the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) Collaboration.…
We consider the possibility that fermionic dark matter (DM) interacts with the Standard Model fermions through an axial Z' boson. As long as Z' decays predominantly into dark matter, the relevant LHC bounds are rather loose. Direct dark matter detection does not significantly constrain this scenario either, since dark matter scattering on nuclei is spin--dependent. As a result, for a range of the Z' mass and couplings, the DM annihilation cross section is large enough to be consistent with thermal history of the Universe. In this framework, the thermal WIMP paradigm, which currently finds itse…
We study the production of gamma rays via LSP annihilations in the core of the Galaxy as a possible experimental signature of the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), in which supersymmetry-breaking parameters are assumed to be universal at the GUT scale, assuming also that the LSP is the lightest neutralino chi. The part of the CMSSM parameter space that is compatible with the measured astrophysical density of cold dark matter is known to include a stau_1 - chi coannihilation strip, a focus-point strip where chi has an enhanced Higgsino component, and a …
The lightest neutralino is a compelling candidate to account for cold dark matter in the universe in supersymmetric theories with $R$--parity. In the CP-invariant theory, the neutralino relic density can be found in accord with recent WMAP data if neutralino annihilation in the early universe occurs via the s-channel $A$ funnel. In contrast, in the CP-noninvariant theory two heavy neutral Higgs bosons can contribute to the Higgs funnel mechanism significantly due to a CP-violating {\it complex} mixing between two heavy states, in particular, when they are almost degenerate. With a simple analy…
Invisible psi and Upsilon decays into light neutralinos, within the MSSM or N(n)MSSM, are smaller than for nu nubar production, even if light spin-0 particles are coupled to quarks and neutralinos. In a more general way, light dark matter particles are normally forbidden, unless they can annihilate sufficiently through a new interaction stronger than weak interactions (at lower energies), as induced by a light spin-1 U boson, or heavy-fermion exchanges in the case of scalar dark matter. We discuss the possible contributions of U-boson, heavy-fermion, or spin-0 exchanges to invisible psi and Up…
Dark photons in the MeV to GeV mass range are important targets for experimental searches. We consider the case where dark photons $A'$ decay invisibly to hidden dark matter $X$ through $A' \to XX$. For generic masses, proposed accelerator searches are projected to probe the thermal target region of parameter space, where the $X$ particles annihilate through $XX \to A' \to \text{SM}$ in the early universe and freeze out with the correct relic density. However, if $m_{A'} \approx 2m_X$, dark matter annihilation is resonantly enhanced, shifting the thermal target region to weaker couplings. For …
There exists a vast literature examining the electroweak (EW) fine-tuning problem in supersymmetric scenarios, but little concerned with the dark matter (DM) one, which should be combined with the former. In this paper, we study this problem in an, as much as possible, exhaustive and rigorous way. We have considered the MSSM framework, assuming that the LSP is the lightest neutralino, $χ_1^0$, and exploring the various possibilities for the mass and composition of $χ_1^0$, as well as different mechanisms for annihilation of the DM particles in the early Universe (well-tempered neutralinos, fun…
We study the phenomenology of a $U_X(1)$ extension of the Standard Model where the SM particles are not charged under the new abelian group. The Green-Schwarz mechanism insures that the model is anomaly free. The erstwhile invisible dark gauge field $X$, even if produced with difficulty at the LHC has however a clear signature in gamma-ray telescopes. We investigate what BSM scale (which can be interpreted as a low-energy string scale) would be reachable by the FERMI/GLAST telescope after 5 years of running and show that a 1 TeV scale can be testable, which is highly competitive with the LHC.
We consider dark matter annihilation into Standard Model particles and show that the least detectable final states, namely neutrinos, define an upper bound on the total cross section. Calculating the cosmic diffuse neutrino signal, and comparing it to the measured terrestrial atmospheric neutrino background, we derive a strong and general bound. This can be evaded if the annihilation products are dominantly new and truly invisible particles. Our bound is much stronger than the unitarity bound at the most interesting masses, shows that dark matter halos cannot be significantly modified by annih…
Residual late-time dark matter particle annihilations during and after Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) may alter the predicted cosmological abundances of the light elements. Within the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (the CMSSM) with a neutralino LSP, we find negligible effects on the abundances of Deuterium, He3, He4 and Li7 predicted by homogeneous BBN, but potentially a large enhancement in the predicted abundance of Li6. This enhancement may be as much as two orders of magnitude in the focus-point WMAP strip and in the coannihilation and funnel regions for…
Previously, it has been argued that the anomalous emission from the region around the Galactic Center observed by WMAP, known as the ``WMAP Haze'', may be the synchrotron emission from relativistic electrons and positrons produced in dark matter annihilations. In particular, the angular distribution, spectrum, and intensity of the observed emission are consistent with the signal expected to result from a WIMP with an electroweak-scale mass and an annihilation cross section near the value predicted for a thermal relic. In this article, we revisit this signal within the context of supersymmetry,…
Following searches for photinos and very light gravitinos in invisible decays of psi and Upsilon, we discuss new limits on Light Dark Matter and U bosons, from psi and Upsilon decays, as well as rare decays of K+ and invisible decays of pi0, eta and eta' ... . The new limits involving the vector couplings of the U to quarks turn out, not surprisingly, to be much less restrictive than existing ones on axial couplings, from an axionlike behavior of a light U boson, tested in psi --> gamma U, Upsilon --> gamma U and K+ --> pi+ U decays (or as compared to the limit from parity-violation in atomic …
It has been argued that the anomalous emission from the region around the Galactic Center observed by WMAP, known as the WMAP Haze, may be the synchrotron emission from relativistic electrons and positrons produced in dark matter annihilations. In particular, the angular distribution, spectrum, and intensity of the observed emission are consistent with the signal expected to result from a WIMP with an electroweak-scale mass and an annihilation cross section near the value predicted for a thermal relic. Here we revisit this signal within the context of supersymmetry and evaluate the parameter s…
We explore a simple extension to the Standard Model containing two gauge singlets: a Dirac fermion and a real pseudoscalar. In some regions of the parameter space both singlets are stable without the necessity of additional symmetries, then becoming a possible two-component dark matter model. We study the relic abundance production via freeze-out, with the latter determined by annihilations, conversions and semi-annihilations. Experimental constraints from invisible Higgs decay, dark matter relic abundance and direct/indirect detection are studied. We found three viable regions of the paramete…
The CMB observation sets stringent constraints on MeV dark matter (DM) annihilating into charged states/photons in s-wave, and the recent observation of the 21-cm absorption at the cosmic dawn reported by EDGES is also very strict for s-wave annihilations of MeV DM. The millicharged DM with p-wave dominant annihilations during the freeze-out period are considered in literatures to give an explanation about the 21-cm absorption, with photon mediated scattering cooling the hydrogen. In this paper, we focus on the annihilation of millicharged DM being s-wave dominant. To explain the 21-cm absorpt…
We investigate dark matter (DM) in the context of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM). We scan through the MSSM parameter space and search for solutions that (a) are consistent with the Higgs discovery and other collider searches; (b) satisfy the flavor constraints from $B$ physics; (c) give a DM candidate with the correct thermal relic density; and (d) are allowed by the DM direct detection experiments. For the surviving models with our parameter scan, we find the following features: (1) The DM candidate is largely a Bino-like neutralino with non-zero but less th…
We examine the interplay between Higgs mediation of dark matter annihilation and scattering on one hand, and the invisible Higgs decay width on the other, in a generic class of models utilizing the Higgs portal. We find that, while the invisible width of the Higgs to dark matter is now constrained for a minimal singlet scalar WIMP by experiments such as XENON100, this conclusion is not robust within more generic examples of Higgs mediation. We present a survey of simple WIMP scenarios with m_{DM} < m_h/2 and Higgs portal mediation, where direct detection signatures are suppressed, while the Hi…
Indirect detection of dark matter via its annihilation products is a key technique in the search for dark matter in the form of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). Strong constraints exist on the annihilation of WIMPs to highly visible Standard Model final states such as photons or charged particles. In the case of s-wave annihilation, this typically eliminates thermal relic cross sections for dark matter of mass below $\cal{O}$(10) GeV. However, such limits typically neglect the possibility that dark matter may annihilate to assumed invisible or hard-to-detect final states, such as …
We discuss a number of experimental constraints on Weinberg's Higgs portal model. In this framework, the standard model (SM) particle spectrum is extended to include one complex scalar field S and one Dirac fermion ψ. These new fields are singlets under the SM gauge group and are charged under a global U(1) symmetry. Breaking of this U(1) symmetry results in a massless Goldstone boson αand a massive CP-even scalar r, and splits the Dirac fermion into two new mass-eigenstates ψ_\pm, corresponding to Majorana fermions. The interest on such a minimal SM extension is twofold. On the one hand, if t…
It has been suggested that the annihilation of Dark Matter particles χwith mass between 0.5 and 20 MeV into e^+e^- pairs could be responsible for the excess flux of 511 keV photons coming from the central region of our galaxy that has been detected by the IINTEGRAL satellite. The simplest way to achieve the required cross section for χpair annihilation while respecting existing constraints is to introduce a new vector boson U with mass M_U below a few hundred MeV. In this Letter we point out that over most of the allowed parameter space, the process e^+e^- to U γ, followed by the decay of U in…
Left-right symmetric extensions of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model can explain neutrino data and have potentially interesting phenomenology beyond that found in minimal SUSY seesaw models. Here we study a SUSY model in which the left-right symmetry is broken by triplets at a high scale, but significantly below the GUT scale. Sparticle spectra in this model differ from the usual constrained MSSM expectations and these changes affect the relic abundance of the lightest neutralino. We discuss changes for the standard stau (and stop) co-annihilation, the Higgs funnel and the focus point …
We investigate constraints on the properties of light dark matter which can be obtained from analysis of invisible quarkonium decays at high intensity electron-positron colliders in the framework of a low energy effective field theory. A matrix element analysis of all contact operators pertinent for these meson decays allows for a model-independent calculation of associated dark matter-nucleon scattering and dark matter annihilation cross sections. Assuming dark matter couples universally to all quark flavors, we then obtain bounds on nucleon scattering which complement direct dark matter dete…
The present paper is the first in a series that addresses the calculation of the full one-loop corrections of dark matter (DM) annihilation cross-sections in the low mass region of the inert doublet model (IDM). We first review the renormalisation of the model both in a fully on-shell (OS) scheme and a mixed scheme combining on-shell (for the masses) and a $\overline{\rm MS}$ approach when the partial invisible width is closed and does not allow the use of a full OS scheme. The scale dependence introduced by the mixed scheme is shown to be tracked through an analysis of a parametrisation of th…
We recall how a new light gauge boson emerged in Supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model with an extra singlet superfield, and how it could behave very much as a light pseudoscalar, with the corresponding symmetry broken at a scale higher than electroweak. Such a new gauge boson U, light and very weakly coupled, allows for Light Dark Matter particles, which could be at the origin of the 511 keV line from the galactic bulge. Could it be found directly in e+e- annihilations ? Not so easily, due to various constraints on its couplings, especially axial ones, leading to an axionlike behavi…
We investigate a model where the dark matter particle is a chiral fermion field charged under a global $U(1)$ symmetry which is assumed to be spontaneously broken, leading to a pseudo-Goldstone boson (PGB). We argue that the dark matter annihilation into PGBs determine the dark matter relic abundance. Besides, we also note that experimental searches for PGBs allow either for a very long lived PGB, with a lifetime much longer than the age of the Universe, or a relatively short lived PGB, with a lifetime shorter than one minute. Hence, two different scenarios arise, producing very different sign…
We review the annihilation of dark matter into neutrinos over a range of dark matter masses from MeV$/c^2$ to ZeV$/c^2$. Thermally-produced models of dark matter are expected to self-annihilate to standard model products. As no such signal has yet been detected, we turn to neutrino detectors to constrain the ``most invisible channel.'' We review the experimental techniques that are used to detect neutrinos, and revisit the expected contributions to the neutrino flux at current and upcoming neutrino experiments. We place updated constraints on the dark matter self-annhilation cross section to n…
We consider the capability of the e^+e^- linear collider (which is recently called as the International Linear Collider, or ILC) for studying the properties of the heavy Higgs bosons in the supersymmetric standard model. We pay special attention to the large \tanβregion which is motivated, in particular, by explaining the dark-matter density of the universe (i.e., so-called ``rapid-annihilation funnels''). We perform a systematic analysis to estimate expected uncertainties in the masses and widths of the heavy Higgs bosons assuming an energy and integrated luminosity of \sqrt{s}=1 TeV and L=1 …

A highly bino-like Dark Matter (DM), which is the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle (LSP), could be motivated by the stringent upper bounds on the DM direct detection rates. This is especially so when its mass is around or below 100 GeV for which such a bound tends to get most severe. Requiring not so large a higgsino mass parameter, that would render the scenario reasonably natural, prompts such a bino-like state to be relatively light. In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), in the absence of comparably light scalars, such an excitation, if it has to be a thermal relic, is unable…
We investigate the phenomenology of supersymmetric models where moduli fields and the Weyl anomaly make comparable contributions to SUSY breaking effects in the observable sector of fields. This mixed modulus-anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking (MM-AMSB) scenario is inspired by models of string compactification with fluxes, which have been shown to yield a de Sitter vacuum (as in the recent construction by Kachru {\it et al}). The phenomenology depends on the so-called modular weights which, in turn, depend on the location of various fields in the extra dimensions. We find that the model w…
We reconsider complex scalar singlet dark matter stabilised by a $\mathbb{Z}_{3}$ symmetry. We refine the stability bounds on the potential and use constraints from unitarity on scattering at finite energy to place a stronger lower limit on the direct detection cross section. In addition, we improve the treatment of the thermal freeze-out by including the evolution of the dark matter temperature and its feedback onto relic abundance. In the regions where the freeze-out is dominated by resonant or semi-annihilation, the dark matter decouples kinetically from the plasma very early, around the on…
We calculate the flux of cosmic positrons from the dark matter annihilation in the littlest Higgs model with T-parity. The dark matter annihilates mainly into weak gauge bosons in the halo, and high energy positrons are produced through leptonic and hadronic decays of the bosons. We investigate a possibility to detect the positron signal in upcoming experiments such as PAMELA and AMS-02. We found that the dark matter signal can be distinguished from the background in the PAMELA experiment when the dark matter mass is less than 120 GeV and the signal flux is enhanced due to a small scale cluste…
In a scenario of Higgs portal dark matter, Higgs exchange processes are essential for both dark matter annihilation in the early Universe and direct search experiments. The CDMS II collaboration has recently released their final results on direct dark matter searches. We study a scalar dark matter model with multi-Higgs doublets under the constraint from the CDMS II results and also from the WMAP data. We find that the possible maximal value for the branching ratio of the invisible decay of the Higgs boson can be significantly greater than that in the Higgs portal model with one Higgs doublet,…
In the minimal supersymmetric standard models, neutralino dark matter with mass of $m_χ\sim m_Z/2\sim 45$ GeV and $m_χ\sim m_h/2\sim 62$ GeV can have the thermal relic abundance $Ω_{χ_1}h^2\simeq 0.120$ via the $Z$- and Higgs-resonant annihilations, respectively, while avoiding all the current constraints. Phenomenology of such scenarios is determined only by three parameters, Bino mass $M_1$, Higgsino mass $μ$, and $\tanβ$, in the limit that all other supersymmetric particles and heavy Higgs bosons are decoupled. In this paper, we comprehensively study the constraints and future prospects of …
We study a class of six-dimensional models based on positive curvature surfaces (spherical 2-orbifolds) as extra-spaces. Using the Newman-Penrose formalism, we discuss the particle spectrum in this class of models. The fermion spectrum problem, which has been addressed with flux compactifications in the past, can be avoided using localised fermions. In this framework, we find that there are four types of geometry compatible with the existence of a stable dark matter candidate and we study the simplest case in detail. Using the complementarity between collider resonance searches and relic densi…
We explore the idea of accidental dark matter (aDM) stability in the scale invariant local $U(1)_{B-L}$ model, which is a theory for neutrino and at the same time radiatively breaks scale invariance via quantum mechanical dynamics in the $U(1)_{B-L}$ sector. A real singlet scalar can be accidental DM with an accidental $Z_2$, by virtue of both extended symmetries. A $U(1)_{B-L}$ charged complex scalar can also be a viable accidental DM due to an accidental (or remanent) $Z_3$. They can reproduce correct relic density via the annihilations through the conventional Higgs portal or dark Higgs por…
We perform a global fit within the pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone dark matter (DM) model emerging from an additional complex scalar singlet with a softly broken global U(1) symmetry. Leading to a momentum-suppressed DM-nucleon cross section at tree level, the model provides a natural explanation for the null results from direct detection experiments. Our global fit combines constraints from perturbative unitarity, DM relic abundance, Higgs invisible decay, electroweak precision observables and latest Higgs searches at colliders. The results are presented in both frequentist and Bayesian statistical fr…

Hints of direct dark matter detection coming from the DAMA, CoGeNT experiments point toward light dark matter with isospin-violating and possibly inelastic couplings. However an array of astrophysical constraints are rapidly closing the window on light dark matter. We point out that if the relic density is determined by annihilation into invisible states, these constraints can be evaded. As an example we present a model of quasi-Dirac dark matter, interacting via two U(1) gauge bosons, one of which couples to baryon number and the other which kinetically mixes with the photon. Annihilation is …
We study collider phenomenology of inert triplet scalar dark matter at the LHC. We discuss possible decay of Higgs boson to dark matter candidate and apply current experimental data for invisible Higgs decay and $R_{γγ}$ to constrain parameter space of our model. We also investigate constraints on dark matter coming from forthcoming measurement, $R_{Zγ}$ and mono-Higgs production. We analytically calculate the annihilation cross section of dark matter candidate into $2γ$ and $Zγ$ and then use FermiLAT data to put constraints on parameter space of Inert Triplet Model. We found that this limit c…
