We reconsider complex scalar singlet dark matter stabilised by a $\mathbb{Z}_{3}$ symmetry. We refine the stability bounds on the potential and use constraints from unitarity on scattering at finite energy to place a stronger lower limit on the direct detection cross section. In addition, we improve the treatment of the thermal freeze-out by including the evolution of the dark matter temperature and its feedback onto relic abundance. In the regions where the freeze-out is dominated by resonant or semi-annihilation, the dark matter decouples kinetically from the plasma very early, around the onset of the chemical decoupling. This results in a modification of the required coupling to the Higgs, which turns out to be at most few per cent in the semi-annihilation region, thus giving credence to the standard approach to the relic density calculation in this regime. In contrast, for dark matter mass just below the Higgs resonance, the modification of the Higgs invisible width and direct and indirect detection signals can be up to a factor $6.7$. The model is then currently allowed at $56.8$ GeV to $58.4$ GeV (depending on the details of early kinetic decoupling) $\lesssim M_{S} \lesssim 62.8$ GeV and at $M_{S} \gtrsim 122$ GeV if the freeze-out is dominated by semi-annihilation. We show that the whole large semi-annihilation region will be probed by the near-future measurements at the XENONnT experiment.
We study pseudo-Goldstone dark matter in the $\mathbb{Z}_{3}$ complex scalar singlet model. Because the direct detection spin-independent cross section is suppressed, such dark matter is allowed in a large mass range. Unlike in the original model stabilized by a parity, due to the cubic coupling of the singlet the $\mathbb{Z}_{3}$ model can accommodate first-order phase transitions that give rise to a stochastic gravitational wave signal potentially observable in future space-based detectors.
We study the effective potential and the Renormalization Group(RG) improvement to the effective potential of Higgs boson in a singlet-doublet fermion dark matter extension of the Standard Model(SM), and in general singlet-doublet fermion extension models with several copies of doublet fermions or singlet fermions. We study the stability of the electroweak vacuum with the RG improved effective potential in these models beyond the SM. We study the decay of the electroweak vacuum using the RG improved effective potential in these models beyond the SM. In this study we consider the quantum correct…
Closed expressions are presented for the contributions to QCD non-singlet forward evolution kernels $P(z)$ for the DGLAP equation and to $V(x,y)$ for non-forward (ER-BL) evolution equation for a certain class of diagrams which include renormalon chains. Calculations are performed in covariant $ξ$-gauge, in the \MSbar scheme. The assumption of "naive nonabelianization" approximation for kernel calculations is discussed, and a special choice of the gauge parameter $ξ=-3$ is analyzed in this context. Partial solutions to the ER-BL evolution equation are obtained.
We improve the sphaleron decoupling condition in the real singlet-extended standard model. The sphaleron energy is obtained using the finite temperature one-loop effective potential with daisy resummation. For moderate values of the model parameters, the sphaleron decoupling condition is found to be $v_C/T_C>(1.1-1.2)$, where $T_C$ denotes a critical temperature and $v_C$ is the corresponding vacuum expectation value of the doublet Higgs field at $T_C$. We also investigate the deviation of the triple Higgs boson coupling from its standard model value in the region where the improved sphaleron …
We consider an extension of the Standard Model with a complex singlet scalar, where a global $U(1)$ symmetry is explicitly broken to $\mathbb{Z}_3$ symmetry. We study the two-step electroweak phase transition in the model and find that it can be of first-order if the heavy scalar mass falls in the range of $1-2$~TeV and the mixing angle $\left | θ\right |\gtrsim 0.2$ ($11.5^{\circ}$). The Higgs signal strength measurements at the LHC, on the other hand, restrict the mixing angle $\left | θ\right |\lesssim 0.4$ ($23^{\circ}$). Future colliders including high-luminosity LHC can probe the remaini…
We present a new computation of S-wave color-singlet nonrelativistic QCD matrix elements for the J/psi and the eta_c. We compute the matrix elements of leading order in the heavy-quark velocity v and the matrix elements of relative order v^2. Our computation is based on the electromagnetic decay rates of the J/psi and the eta_c and on a potential model that employs the Cornell potential. We include relativistic corrections to the electromagnetic decay rates, resumming a class of corrections to all orders in v, and find that they significantly increase the values of the matrix elements of leadi…
Scalar singlet dark matter is one of the simplest and most predictive realisations of the WIMP (weakly-interacting massive particle) idea. Although the model is constrained from all directions by the latest experimental data, it still has viable regions of parameter space. Another compelling aspect of scalar singlets is their ability to stabilise the electroweak vacuum. Indeed, models of scalar dark matter are not low-energy effective theories, but can be valid all the way to the Planck scale. Using the GAMBIT framework, we present the first global fit to include both the low-energy experiment…
We study the possible gravitational wave signal and the viability of baryogenesis arising from the electroweak phase transition in an extension of the Standard Model (SM) by a scalar singlet field without a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. We first analyze the velocity of the expanding true-vacuum bubbles during the phase transition, confirming our previous finding in the unbroken $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry scenario, where the bubble wall velocity can be computed from first principles only for weak transitions with strength parameters $α\lesssim 0.05$, and the Chapman-Jouguet velocity defines the maximum…
We explore a two component dark matter model with a fermion and a scalar. In this scenario the Standard Model (SM) is extended by a fermion, a scalar and an additional pseudo scalar. The fermionic component is assumed to have a global ${\rm U(1)}_{\rm DM}$ and interacts with the pseudo scalar via Yukawa interaction while a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry is imposed on the other component -- the scalar. These ensure the stability of both the dark matter components. Although the Lagrangian of the present model is CP conserving, however the CP symmetry breaks spontaneously when the pseudo scalar acquires…
In this whitepaper, I briefly review the Benchmark Planes in the Two-Real-Singlet Model (TRSM), a model that enhances the Standard Model (SM) scalar sector by two real singlets that obey a $\mathbb{Z}_2\,\otimes\,\mathbb{Z}_2'$ symmetry. In this model, all fields acquire a vacuum expectation value, such that the model contains in total 3 CP-even neutral scalars that can interact with each other. All interactions with SM-like particles are inherited from the SM-like doublet via mixing. I remind the readers of the previously proposed benchmark planes, and briefly discuss possible production at f…
Very recently, a Fermilab report of muon $g-2$ showed a $4.2σ$ discrepancy between it and the standard model (SM) prediction. Motivated by this inspiring result and the increasing tension in supersymmetric interpretation of the anomalous magnetic moment, it is argued that in the general next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (GNMSSM), a singlino-dominated neutralino can act as a feasible dark matter (DM) candidate in explaining the discrepancy naturally. In this case, the singlino-dominated DM and singlet-dominated Higgs bosons can form a secluded DM sector with $\tildeχ_1^0\tildeχ_1^0 …
We extend the Standard Model by adding two gauge-singlet $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$% -symmetric scalar fields that interact with visible matter only through the Higgs particle. One is a stable dark matter WIMP, and the other one undergoes a spontaneous breaking of the symmetry that opens new channels for the dark matter annihilation, hence lowering the mass of the WIMP. We study the effects of the observed dark matter relic abundance on the annihilation cross section and find that in most regions of the parameters space, light dark matter is viable. We also compare the elastic scattering cross-section o…
A weak singlet charged scalar exists in many new physics models beyond the Standard Model. The discovery potential of the singlet charged scalar is explored at future lepton colliders, e.g. the CEPC, ILC-350 and ILC-500. We demonstrate that one can discover the singlet charged scalar up to 118 GeV at the CEPC with an integrated luminosity of $5~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$. At the ILC-350 and the ILC-500 with an integrated luminosity of $1~\mathrm{ab}^{-1}$ such a discovery limit can be further improved to 136 GeV and 160 GeV, respectively.
We examine the collider and dark matter phenomenology of the Standard Model extended by a hypercharge-zero SU(2) triplet scalar and gauge singlet scalar. In particular, we study the scenario where the singlet and triplet are both charged under a single $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. We find that such an extension is capable of generating the observed dark matter density, while also modifying the collider phenomenology such that the lower bound on the mass of the triplet is smaller than in minimal triplet scalar extensions to the Standard Model. A high triplet mass is in tension with the parameter sp…
We analyze the theoretical and phenomenological considerations for the electroweak phase transition and dark matter in an extension of the Standard Model with a complex scalar singlet (cxSM). In contrast with earlier studies, we use a renormalization group improved scalar potential and treat its thermal history in a gauge invariant manner. We find that the parameter space consistent with a strong first order electroweak phase transition (SFOEWPT) and present dark matter phenomenological constraints is significantly restricted compared to results of a conventional, gauge non-invariant analysis.…
We examine the non-thermal production of dark matter in a scalar extended singlet doublet fermion model where the lightest admixture of the fermions constitutes a suitable dark matter candidate. The dark sector is non-minimal with the MeV scale singlet scalar, which is stable in the Universe lifetime and can mediate the self-interaction for the multi-GeV fermion dark matter mitigating the small scale structure anomalies of the Universe. If the dark sector is strongly coupled, it undergoes internal dark thermal equilibrium after freeze-in production, and we end up with suppressed relic abundanc…
Results for excited light and strange hadrons from the lattice with two flavors of Chirally Improved sea quarks are presented. We perform simulations at several values of the pion mass ranging from 250 to 600 MeV and extrapolate to the physical pion mass. The variational method is applied to extract excited energy levels but also to discuss the content of the states. Among others, we explore the flavor singlet/octet content of Lambda states. In general, our results agree well with experiment, in particular we confirm the Lambda(1405) and its dominant flavor singlet structure.

We solve coupled momentum-dependent Boltzmann equations for the phase space distribution of cosmic relic particles, without resorting to approximations of assuming kinetic equilibrium or neglecting backscattering or elastic interactions. Our method is amendable to precision numerical computations. To test it, we consider two benchmark models where the momentum dependence of dark matter distribution function is potentially important: a real singlet scalar extension near the Higgs resonance and a sterile neutrino dark matter model with a singlet scalar mediator. The singlet scalar example shows …
The explicit breaking of chiral symmetry of the Wilson fermion action results in additive quark mass renormalization. Moreover, flavour singlet and non-singlet scalar currents acquire different renormalization constants with respect to continuum regularization schemes. This complicates keeping the renormalized strange quark mass fixed when varying the light quark mass in simulations with $N_f=2+1$ sea quark flavours. Here we present and validate our strategy within the CLS (Coordinated Lattice Simulations) effort to achieve this in simulations with non-perturbatively order-$a$ improved Wilson …
Low energy neutrinoless lepton flavor violating (LFV) processes are studied in an extension of the Standard Model (SM) by heavy SU(2)xU(1) singlet Dirac neutrinos. An upper bound procedure is elaborated for the evaluation of amplitudes. A comment on the extraction of heavy neutrino mixings from astrophysical observations is given. For processes not treated in the applied model the formalism not treated in the applied model the formalism for evaluating the branching ratios (BRs) is presented. The processes previously studied in the model are carefully examined. Some of the previous results are …

In the presence of a real singlet scalar field with $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry in addition to the Higgs field in the Standard Model, we analytically investigate all possible one-step and two-step electroweak phase transitions (EWPT) in the high-temperature expansion limit. In particular, we examine the possibility of a first-order phase transition in an intermediate temperature interval of the universe for two-step scenarios. In all scenarios, we provide with necessary conditions on the parameters of the model to address a first- or second-order phase transition if ever possible in the high-tempe…
We study the dark matter from an inert doublet and a complex scalar singlet stabilized by $\mathbb{Z}_N$ symmetries. This field content is the minimal one that allows dimensionless semi-annihilation couplings for $N > 2$. We consider explicitly the $\mathbb{Z}_3$ and $\mathbb{Z}_4$ cases and take into account constraints from perturbativity, unitarity, vacuum stability, necessity for the electroweak $\mathbb{Z}_N$ preserving vacuum to be the global minimum, electroweak precision tests, upper limits from direct detection and properties of the Higgs boson. Co-annihilation and semi-annihilation o…
We investigate an inflationary model involving a gauge singlet scalar and fermionic dark matter. The mixing between the singlet scalar and the Higgs boson provides a portal to dark matter. The inflaton could either be the Higgs boson or the singlet scalar, and slow roll inflation is realized via its non-minimal coupling to gravity. In this setup, the effective scalar potential is stabilized by the mixing between two scalars and coupling with dark matter. We study constraints from collider searches, relic density and direct detection, and find that dark matter mass should be around half the mas…
In these proceedings, we present a study of a combined singlet--doublet fermion and triplet scalar model for dark matter (DM). Together, these models form a simple extension of the Standard Model (SM) that can account for DM and explain the existence of neutrino masses, which are generated radiatively. However, this also implies the existence of lepton flavour violating (LFV) processes. In addition, this particular model allows for gauge coupling unification. The new fields are odd under a new $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry to stabilise the DM candidate. We analyse the DM, neutrino mass and LFV aspec…
One of the simplest viable models for dark matter is an additional neutral scalar, stabilised by a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. Using the GAMBIT package and combining results from four independent samplers, we present Bayesian and frequentist global fits of this model. We vary the singlet mass and coupling along with 13 nuisance parameters, including nuclear uncertainties relevant for direct detection, the local dark matter density, and selected quark masses and couplings. We include the dark matter relic density measured by Planck, direct searches with LUX, PandaX, SuperCDMS and XENON100, limits …
